Writing Is Your Map
Listen to "Writing Is Your Map" on Spreaker.
I love it when people complain about having to write something down. I always hear, "I don't have time!" That's when I grab my smart phone and go to their Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Yeah... No time to write, take down a few messages from the present and hand them to a future self. On this podcast I leap back to July of 2016 and put focus on what being a daily writer has meant not to my outside shell but the spoiled creative snot that lives within the core of my heart and soul. Building bridges to the unwritten days that lay ahead requires not just your experiences but the travels and trials of others. Nothing stalls a day quicker then getting caught up in a conversation with Debbie Downer. Teaching yourself to allow it to move through you is a journey. Documenting the process makes you a stronger coworker as well as leader of your personal life. There's victory in moments that suck. I love it when a door squeaks while it being opened. It serves as a reminder of how the outside conditions of the weather plays hell on the hinges of your heart but that door still has the ability and willingness to set yourself free. You can't get to Montana without a map. Next week will feel better if you take a writing instrument and make friends with the eager being taking up room in your heart and blasting a bunch of voices in your head. Live by one rule: No book is put on the shelves at Barnes and Noble or posted on Amazon unless it's been written first. Your life is no different. Writing is your map.
