By the time he was seven he began realizing that he had a natural talent for singing. He started to truly embrace his artistry at the age of 23. Tony was mesmerized with the television show Fame, which inspired him to attend Duke Ellington School of the Arts in Washington, D.C. Tony went on to become a background vocalist for the pop group Sweet Sensation, and the hip hop group, The Boogie Boys. Musical Career Tony signed a recording contract with Epic Records in 1987 and his first single, “She’s Fly”, was released that same year and made top 10 on the Billboard R&B singles chart. His Epic debut album, Forever Yours, was released in 1988 reached the top 40 on the Billboard’s R&B singles chart. The following single, “Lovey Dovey”, reached #4 on the R&B charts and “Forever Yours” climbed to the R&B top 20. He is best known for his 1990 hit single “With You”. Tony’s other hits include “Everlasting Love”, “She’s Fly”, “Lovey Dovey”, and “When a Man Cries”. In 2001, Tony partnered with Yolanda Adams on the Grammy Nominated single “Gotta Have Love”. He contributed to singing background and appearing in the music video. He also made his way onto the big screen by performing on soundtracks for the “Gladiator” starring Cuba Gooding Jr., “Tap” starring Gregory Hines, and “King’s Ransom” starring Anthony Anderson. He had the pleasure of touring six years with Roberta Flack, performing beautiful classic duets. This opened huge doors that lead to an appearance on Sun Splash in South Africa with an audience of over 100,000. Tony has also tapped into the world of Opera by performing at some of the most elegant opera houses in the world including, The Sydney Australia’s Opera Hall, New York’s Kennedy Center, London’s Apollo Theatre, and Vienna’s Concert Hall (The Wiener Musikverein). With God being the center of his life and career, he was lead to share his testimony with the world. In 2006, he completed his first Gospel album entitled Changed. Currently, his new single “Take Me”, is set to be released in January of 2018. Theater Tony is no novice to the stage and has appeared on numerous stages across the globe. After graduation from Duke Ellington, Tony decided to move to New York. Before he knew it, he had landed a role in The Black Nativity. Tony’s talent as an amazing actor did not go unnoticed. He went on to appear in other major stage productions including the national tour of The Wiz, featuring Grace Jones, Peabo Bryson, and CeCe Penniston. His passion, hard work and dedication to his craft has opened many doors in the theatre world.
