McKenzie Phillips

Listen to "McKenzie Phillips author of Hopeful Healing" on Spreaker. Mackenzie Phillips, actress and author of the courageous New York Times bestselling memoir High on Arrival, has written a new book, Hopeful Healing: Essays on Managing Recovery and Surviving Addiction (Beyond Words/Atria,. Referencing her past struggles as an addict and her current role as a substance abuse counselor, Mackenzie is sharing her experience and insight to help addicts, along with family members and support systems, get the help and motivation they need to reach sobriety. In Hopeful Healing, Phillips shares short essays that include personal stories along with first-step motivations for the addict who is looking to or perhaps struggling to recover. She addresses mindfulness, failure, hope, trust, and acceptance, among many prominent themes in the life of an addict. Each chapter concludes with the “It Works if You Work It” section for reflection and exercises that worked well for her and her clients. Phillips offers encouragement and open honesty from someone who has been right where the addict has been: rock bottom. And for Phillips, it was all while the entire world watched. She knows exactly what addicts are facing in these challenging times, and offers personal and professional stories to help people reach the other, more hopeful side—sobriety. Mackenzie Phillips is best known for her roles in American Graffiti and as rebellious teenager Julie Cooper on the sitcom One Day at a Time. She is also the daughter of John Phillips, lead singer of the ’60s band The Mamas and the Papas. As a troubled teen star, Phillips made several visits to rehab before getting sober. Her struggles with addiction have been well documented in High On Arrival and in the media. Phillips has become Hollywood’s go-to person on substance abuse and a visible and outspoken advocate for addiction awareness and education. “This wonderful book will lovingly hold your hand through anything you need to know about recovery and addiction, or really, just getting through life. This is the Mackenzie I know: smart, funny, warm, she has that great ‘been there, done that’ attitude and just tells it like it is, without judgment. Read this book now. What Have You Heard

Listen to "What Do You Hear" on Spreaker. What do we truly hear? There's so much noise around us. We do things to cover up the noise that was used to cover up the noise. Then when it's time to cut free of the collisions. The one thing we can't do is decide if we like what we are currently sitting in. Are we truly who we are? What if you're the end result of being shaped? Touchy subject. The true percentages don't match the number of opportunities. You can be anything you want. But when you arrive. Are you the same person you were when the seed was first planted. Learning to activate what you hear is a huge brave step. Making known how you are growing is mindfully present in your now. Too often we take the experience and tuck it away. When what we should've been doing is letting it move through us. To increase the influence and or inspiration. I wrote this morning about two things: Feel and Fuel. We spend so much time feeling that we forget to fuel our dreams. But the part I read from today isn't about that subject. It's taken from my daily writing on January 2, 2016. We learn so much from where we once stood. But were you listening? If not... why are you complaining?

Crossroads

Listen to "Crossroads" on Spreaker. In our daily walks and stumbles we endlessly create paths. Most are connected while others seem to wander off. Then one day they meet. One such crossroad was experienced today. By way of daily writing the paragraphs put into the veins of the living tree were reflecting on what 2015 was like as an experience. And in front of the writer was the new year. The third line or connection was the person sitting in the now. It's February 23 2017. Three different years being represented and only the writer in the present knows how each were played out and or accepted. From 2015 the act of gratefulness played an important role in the following year. Today... its as if God has said, "I cannot make things instantly happen. But if you keep your journey in written form. You will see how I work through you." Learning to study the path you walk isn't selfish. You grow forward by understanding how you learned from where you once stood. If you don't write it down. You'll forget about it just like yesterday.

Christine Lennon

Listen to "Christine Lennon author of The Drifter" on Spreaker. THE DRIFTER (February 21, 2017; William Morrow Trade Paperback Original) begins in the present day. For two decades, Elizabeth has tried to escape the ghosts of her past…tried to erase the painful memories…tried to keep out the terrifying nightmares. But twenty years after graduating from the University of Florida, her carefully curated life begins to unravel, forcing her to confront the past she’s tried so hard to forget. Flashing back to 1990s Gainesville, Florida, Elizabeth and her two closest friends, Caroline and Ginny, are having the time of their lives in college—binge watching Oprah, flirting for freebies from Taco Bell, and breaking hearts along the way. But without warning, their world is suddenly shattered when a series of horrific acts of violence ravage the campus, changing their lives forever. Sweeping readers from the exclusive corners of sorority life in the South to the frontlines of the drug-fueled, slacker culture in Manhattan in the ‘90s and early ‘00s, when Elizabeth is forced to acknowledge her role in the death of a friend in order to mend a broken friendship and save her own life, THE DRIFTER is an unforgettable story about the complexities of friendships and the secrets that can ultimately destroy us. Christine is a Los Angeles-based writer. Before she moved to the West Coast and started her freelance career, she was an editor at W, Vogue, and Harper’s Bazaar. Since then, she has written for publications including T The New York Times Style Magazine, the Wall Street Journal, Town & Country, W, Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Martha Stewart Living, Sunset, C California Style, Marie Claire, Self, Net-a-Porter’s Porter, and The Edit online magazine—among others. When Christine began writing THE DRIFTER, she started by listening to the music she loved in 1990. Psychologists refer to our freaky ability to recall fully formed memories from our adolescence and early adulthood as the “reminiscence bump.” For reasons we don’t completely understand, the friendships, stories, events and thoughts from the third decade of our lives — our 20s — become our most vivid recollections. It makes perfect sense, then, that the music we hear during that time of our lives plays a big role in our life story, and in many ways, shapes our lives for decades to come. As you read THE DRIFTER, I also encourage you to listen to Christine’s curated The Drifter: The Playlist on Spotify to experience some of the songs mentioned in the novel. Whether you experienced them the first time over twenty years ago, or are discovering them now for the first time, she hopes that hearing these songs makes you feel 20-something and equal parts excited and terrified by what your future holds.

The Lyrics From Billy's Forest Chapter 61

Listen to the message The one thing I've learned through daily writing is, "The older you get. The more you'll learn to simplify the treasures you've picked up along the way." There are certain ideas and things we've done that are easily tossed away. Some like to cling to our past like gum on the bottom of our shoe. Then there are those moments and ambitions that we put in a special box to one day in our older chapters laugh about.  Seriously... For one moment. Take a good look around you. People of age aren't laughing. It's as if they've been to the top of the mountain created by their decisions and believe, "Oh no... What did we do by saying yes when we meant to say no?" I'm really tired of people saying, "We only live once." That's pretty much telling God thanks but no thanks. Which brings me to a really weird corner of this map. While seeking the older people to study. Pay close attention to the grand children. Their noses are buried in digital devices. I totally get it! I was part of that generation that welcomed it. But I want to admit how wrong we were about history. Christopher Columbus wasn't trying to prove the world wasn't flat. He was headed across that open body of water to a world that would one day become flat. Why don't bosses have building relationships of success with employees? I'm not sure it's the bosses fault. It truly depends on how flat your world has become.

Karlee Metzger

This is the only performance she has done outside of school.

Ken Kratz

Listen to "Ken Kratz author of Avery" on Spreaker. It’s time to set the record straight about Steven Avery. The full record—including evidence never before revealed—makes his guilt clear. The Netflix series Making a Murderer quickly became a huge hit, with over 19 million viewers in the U.S. in the first 35 days. The series left many viewers with the opinion that Steven Avery—a man falsely imprisoned for almost 20 years on a rape charge—was railroaded into prison a second time by a corrupt police force and district attorney’s office. Viewers were outraged and hundreds of thousands demanded a pardon for Avery. The chief villain of the series: Ken Kratz, the special prosecutor who headed the investigation and prosecution. Kratz’s later misdeeds—prescription drug abuse and sexual harassment—cemented his guilt in the minds of the viewers. This book tells what you don’t know. Making a Murderer raised convincing doubts about Avery’s guilt. But now, Ken Kratz puts those doubts to rest with Avery: The Case Against Steven Avery and What Making a Murderer Gets Wrong. In it, Kratz demonstrates how the Netflix series leaves out critical evidence, including bombshell facts known only to him. Avery systematically erases the uncertainties introduced by the series, confirming, once and for all, that Steven Avery is guilty of the murder of Teresa Halbach. What’s more, Kratz even provides online access to detailed evidence so readers can explore every aspect of the case—the largest criminal investigation in Wisconsin history. Avery tells the full story of the investigation, filled with details and insights unknown to the public. Then Kratz candidly addresses the aftermath. He openly discusses his struggle with addiction and the disturbing behaviors he engaged in, which led him to lose everything: his job, his wife, his house, his car and his reputation. While our indignation at the injustice of Steven Avery’s first imprisonment makes it easy to believe he was also falsely accused of Halbach’s murder, Avery and the evidence inside—examined thoroughly and dispassionately—prove that, in this case, the system worked as it should.

The Daily Dog Walk

Listen to "The Daily Dog Walk" on Spreaker. This is a crazy subject. Especially since it was delivered to me ten minutes before the lights went out at church. That's one of my favorite times to take a writing instrument and put down on paper what's in the present. There can't be any guards or fears. Just write! No matter where you grow in thought try to figure out what message God is trying to deliver by way of speaking the street. While opening the pages of this handmade leather bound book. It hit me. People that take their dogs out for daily walks. And you know the reason why the majority of them are out there. It made me think. How much waste do we as humans toss onto other people's paths by way of vocals, writing on FaceBook or posting pictures on Instagram? Are we creating things that people truly didn't need to step in or on? Of coarse we are! The goal everyday should be aware of how it is that we deliver our thinking, speaking and creating. But because we are human. It's a path of acceptance just to do what we do. When in fact bosses and others are using their daily walk to bring you down. Motivation is what we did in the 1980's. Once you've learned their technique its easy for you to adopt the same communication skills. Motivate and inspire. To get there begins with knowing what you are dropping.

Jack Russell's Great White

Listen to "Jack Russell's Great White He Saw It Coming" on Spreaker. Rather than look backwards and merely attempt to relive the multi-platinum Hard Rock entity’s storied origins, Jack Russell set his sights on the future. In December 2011, Jack Russell’s Great White first bared its teeth. Since its inception, the frontman welcomed back longtime bassist and friend Tony Montana—this time as a guitar player and keyboardist—lead guitarist Robby Lochner, and drummer Dicki Fliszar. Now, this group has a sharp, soaring and slick new album ready, boasting the bluesy Hard Rock stomp that made Russell and Montana icons in the first place. “It’s a powerful band,” Russell proclaims. “The music comes across very dynamically. It’s what I always wanted it to be. Tony was a catalyst for moving forward. I was never as close to him as I am now. We never had the opportunity to write music together before. I also never knew he played guitar. When I first heard him, I nearly fell of my chair. He’s my copilot. He’s one of my best friends. I wish we would’ve been this close back in the day.” “It’s natural for all of us,” adds Montana. “There’s a solid chemistry, and we’re having a lot of fun.” Rounding out the lineup with Lochner and Fliszar and with the more recent addition of Dan McNay on bass, these musicians hit the studio to cut their official full-length debut. It taps into the bluesy bombast and heavy energy of Russell’s celebrated material, but it’s a distinctly modern metallic monster. “We want the new material to blow people’s ears back,” Russell goes on. “It has the elements of the best Great White music ever written, but there’s an edge. Tony brings that validity, while Robby, Dan and Dicki add a new life. It’s going to surprise people.” Montana agrees, “It’s got the classic sound. The first element is Jack’s voice. No other band sounds like this one ever did or does now. When I was 17-years-old, I remember walking around the UCLA campus listening to the band’s first EP. I was a fan before I ever joined the band. We’re going to maintain that same integrity going forward.” That integrity became forged over nearly thirty years. In 1984, the band broke out of the Los Angeles scene with its self-titled debut followed by seismic platinum-selling outings such as 1987’s Once Bitten... and 1989’s …Twice Shy. Moving over 8 million copies worldwide, they stood out as tried-and-true rock stalwarts into the 21st century until 2011, when Russell went on to form Jack Russell’s Great White. Ultimately, the new music is for the millions of fans who stuck by Russell all these years. It’s everything they’ve been waiting for and more. On the 100th anniversary of Mark Twain's passing an extremely special autobiography was released. It showcased a more genuine creative mind. Painting the picture of how he became who he was and why so many things made him angry and or more available to bend the rules of everyday life and write more. He loved recording his ideas on a device that his employee would listen then try to present it in the current story he was setting free. One of the subjects he covered was how many editors didn't like his style of writing. He called it his creative accent. He fought very hard to protect it. Here in 2017 many of us ignore it. Not just as writers but chefs, business people, planners, musicians, teachers. Every chosen career! We allow bosses, coworkers, friends and family to silence the accent we put in the things we were designed to bring forward. Then we sit back and wonder why we're bored, have no steam to do things, procrastinate or find reasons to not support city or school needs. What if you're creative accent is asking for you to celebrate its existence? You don't need other people to accept it. Only you matter. The moment someone offers an opinion. Shut them off. It will put a bump in the road but who cares! Set your creative accent free and do things your way. I love one thing about Walmart. Not all of their locations are designed the same way. I love the challenge to locate bird seed. That's their creative accent and they aren't going to change.

Cormac O'Brien

Listen to "Cormack O'Brien The Secret Lives Of US Presidents" on Spreaker. Before there was the Comedy Central series Drunk History, there was the classic Quirk compendium of presidential biographies: Secret Lives of the U.S. Presidents: Strange Stories and Shocking Trivia from Inside the White House (Quirk Books; February 7, 2017; $16.95). In this revised edition, Cormac O’Brien takes readers on an uncensored chapter-by-chapter journey of America’s most powerful men, providing fun facts and quirky trivia along the way. With new material, including a chapter on the newest commander in chief, O’Brien uncovers the weird and often outrageous truths that history textbooks don’t cover. Readers will discover many interesting details, including: Written in the Stars: Following the attempted assassination of Ronald Regan, his wife, Nancy, took to astrology to determine future good and bad days in office. Crass Act: Lyndon B. Johnson enjoyed taking his house guests on drunken 90-mile-an-hour rides through the countryside. It’s in the Cards: Warren G. Harding once lost a set of priceless White House china in a poker game. Bully-in-Chief: In his memoir, The Art of the Deal, Donald Trump recalls becoming so angry that he punched his 2nd-grade music teacher in the face, a move that nearly got him expelled. As we all know, the President of the United States has one of the hardest jobs in the world, one that is revered (and reviled) around the globe. But it’s refreshing to remember that at the end of the day, these powerful leaders really are just like us—neurotic, impulsive, flawed, and controversial.

Nash Overstreet

Listen to "Nash Overstreet U Don't Get 2 Do That" on Spreaker. Nash Overstreet just dropped a colorful, artsy video for “U Don’t Get 2 Do That,” and it’s premiering exclusively on Billboard. The Sean Hagwell-directed clip finds Nash -- former singer/guitarist for Hot Chelle Rae and brother of Glee star and singer/songwriter Chord Overstreet -- drenched in black light while girls gracefully dance around him, replacing clothing with beautiful neon body paint. The NSFW visual comes complete with bottle popping, ballet dancers and lyrics like “It’s a little too late to be sitting outside my place/ Trying to say you’re sorry/ You don’t get to do that.” "I had the idea for having body paint and black light, as well as an all white/fuchsia setup for a long time," Nash tells Billboard of the video's concept. "I had some great brainstorming sessions with Deirdre Barnes (who choreographed and danced in the video) and the director Sean Hagwell over a few glasses of wine and we came up with a really cool visual. To me, the imagery represents the sentiment of the song, without being too on the nose. With the makeup artist and dancers in the room, Sean Hagwell started shooting what we'd mapped out, and along the way, we'd discover new lighting tricks to make the black light actually translate. There was a lot of us all running around half-naked and splattering paint everywhere we could. And yes the champagne was ACTUALLY being drank out of the bottle." As for the song, Nash tells Billboard, “It's all about the rights you lose and give up once you're no longer in a relationship with someone. Whether that's being able to have your late-night hookups, hang out with the same friends, or even text to say hi. There are a million different ways I relate to this song, and I'm hoping it connects with listeners the same way.” Nash's four-song debut solo EP, also titled U Don't Get 2 Do That, arrived Friday January 27th as well.

Frank Sesno

Listen to "Frank Sesno Ask More" on Spreaker. We learn, connect, and invent, solve mysteries, break down barriers, hold others accountable, ponder our purpose, and live generously through the questions we ask. “Smart questions make smarter people,” attests an expert on thoughtful and fruitful inquiry, Frank Sesno. “But the fact is, most of us don’t really understand how questions work—or how to make them work for us. In school we study math and science, literature and history. At work we learn about outcomes and metrics, profit and loss. But never do we study how to ask questions strategically, how to listen actively, or how to use questions as a powerful tool toward accomplishing what we really want to achieve.” Sesno fills that knowledge gap with ASK MORE: The Power of Questions to Open Doors, Uncover Solutions, and Spark Change (AMACOM; January 10, 2017; $25.00 Hardcover). A former CNN anchor, White House Correspondent, and currently director of George Washington University’s School of Media and Public Affairs, Sesno offers insights, inspiration, and guidance on asking questions with intention and confidence, listening deeply with an ear for nuance, and getting interesting, illuminating, meaningful, and productive answers. “Sincere questions too often play second fiddle to certainty, ideology, and outrage,” Sesno notes, due to our search-engine-fueled appetites for fast answers and social-media- spurred rushes to judgment. Through stories of remarkable people who use questions to motivate and excel, ASK MORE makes a compelling case for developing the discipline and embracing the practice of assuming less, asserting less, and asking more.

Believe In Your Future Self

Listen to "Accepting The Future You" on Spreaker. We waddle through life hoping to become. And when it happens its almost like we lack the proper appreciation required to keep it. I'm blessed with the opportunity to talk with some of the most successful people on the present planet. The one thing they all have in common? Gratefulness. They recognize the struggles required to reach particular points. Now that they've achieved it the learning process continues to grow. Being aware of the origin helps keep the rightful reasons moving in forward motion. I don't believe in Middle Age or people in their late years. I see us all moving through layers of experience required to become who we were designed to grow into. Sadly once we hit a certain age. Dreams are shoved to the side. We begin to feel our body ache. What if it's not pain and it's your dreams locating the wooden door to knock on? "Hello... I'm still here. Can you hear me?"

Brett Kelly

Listen to "Brad Kelly From Bad Santa 2" on Spreaker. While the naïve and lonely Thurman Merman is the heart of the Bad Santa franchise, actor Brett Kelly concentrated on his character’s stomach while prepping for the second film in the Billy Bob Thornton-starring series. “I put on 40 pounds before the start of the shoot,” he says. “I ate anything I could get my hands on. But then it was two months in Montreal — the greatest town for disregarding your health — so I put on another 15 during the shoot. It was 50, 55 pounds by the end. The fun part was before, putting on all the weight, and doing the movie. The pain came after. It took about four months to put on and then I’d say about twice that to take it all off.” The Vancouver-born Kelly was around six when he scored his first professional gig — a Huggies commercial — and only eight when he starred opposite Billy Bob Thornton in 2003’s foul language-filled Bad Santa. “Everyone thinks I was scarred for life from Billy Bob,” he says. “But I had five or six auditions for the first one, and I’m running lines with my Dad. Once your dad is calling you all this stuff, it was a f–king piece of cake to have some stranger do it. I know a lot of it went way over my head, where I just didn’t even realize what was going on a lot of the time. Even a couple of years later, when I was 11, 12, watching the movie, I still didn’t know what a lot of the jokes were. That was a lot of fun watching it, when I got older, and seeing a lot of the stuff that I’d missed at that time. But as a kid you just do what you’re told, go where you’re told.” After Bad Santa, Kelly was cast in another holiday-themed cult classic, the 2007 horror anthology Trick ‘r Treat. “I remember [for] the vomiting scene, eating 30 Mars bars in one night,” he says. “I never thought I’d hate chocolate, but that did it.” He was also cast in a couple of less-well-remembered sequels: 2005’s The Sandlot 2 and 2008’s Slap Shot 3: The Junior League. “Halloween, Christmas, straight-to-DVD — that’s right in my wheelhouse!” he laughs. At the age of 17, Kelly took a break from the film business and spent four years studying business at the University of British Columbia. “This line of work, you never know what’s going to happen,” he says. “I always wanted to have something to fall back on.” But Kelly hasn’t used his bachelor’s degree yet. “I had my last ever exam and two days later I got the call about Bad Santa 2,” he says. “So, it was meant to be, I guess.” Thornton recalls that reconnecting with his Bad Santa costar was an initially strange experience. “The first time we met about the script, he flew down to L.A., and here he comes, he looks exactly the same almost, except he’s just bigger,” the actor says. “I told him, ‘Dude, this is weird seeing you like this.’ He’s graduated from business college, and he ordered a beer, and I’m like, ‘I don’t know if I can handle this!'” In Bad Santa 2, we find Merman working at a sandwich shop. Kelly recently spent a day delivering bread-based edibles to New Yorkers who tweeted at the film’s account. “One guy came stumbling out in his underwear,” he recalls. That sounds very Bad Santa-ish. “Oh, yeah. It fit very well.” Kelly says he plans to move to Los Angeles permanently this January to pursue acting as a career. “I’m giving it a good go,” he explains. “I don’t want to have to use the degree!”

Give Yourself Permission To Breathe

Listen to "Give Yourself Permission To Breathe" on Spreaker. There's endless amounts of energy moving around us. Most of it heightened by power drinks and other devices of choice. How can you be naturally ready to take on a moment without having to have ten cups of coffee? The physical act of learning how to live in the present has been one of the most rewarding journeys. It doesn't mean you have to forget your past or become unfocused with the future. It's a choice to breathe in the moment. Ummm the same person in you that locates the anger, depression and shame in a past you can't change. The Lyrics From Billy's Forest Chapter 60

Listen to "The Lyrics From Billys Forest Chapter 60" on Spreaker. As children we'd sing the song that dealt with being in the place where the deer and antelope play. I always dreamed of being there in that moment. To watch jump, run and wrestle. As I grew into adult shoes I learned how families in Montana didn't see deer as I did in my heart. Taking their fire sticks the layout of actions became a game of chase. I was always laughed at for not being a deer or antelope hunter. Today my forest is blessed with a family of deer to which I greet each sunrise for breakfast and a bite to eat each afternoon at 430 before they disappear into the trees for the night. I don't see too much playing like the childhood song suggests. I do though get to stare into their eyes and watch them stomp their front right leg into the earth. Their white tails wave without the wind and their noses always seem to be sensing the availability of change. Why so much interest in deer? I see it as God in forward motion. Taking the time to study the elements around us puts visions in your heart of how true God is to all living creations. Even a slug sliding beside a puddle of water that just fell from the sky.

Eric Braeden

Listen to "Eric Braeden I'll Be Damned" on Spreaker. Fans of television’s #1 rated daytime drama “The Young and the Restless” know Eric Braeden as billionaire Victor Newman. While the iconic part won him a daytime Emmy, a People’s Choice Award, and contributed to his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Eric, born Hans-Jörg Gudegast in Nazi Germany, is a far more complex character in real life than he plays on TV. In I’LL BE DAMNED: How My Young and Restless Life Led Me to America’s #1 Daytime Drama (Dey Street Books; On sale February 7, 2017), Braeden shares his fantastic journey from his birth in Kiel, Germany, in 1941 to the soundstages of Los Angeles. With unflinching candor, he chronicles this extraordinary life story—that of a German teenager, born at the height of WWII, who arrived in America somewhat oblivious to the atrocities of the Holocaust. When Braeden was twenty years old, he went to see the Swedish film Mein Kampf. He left that film—a documentary about the atrocities committed by Hitler and the Nazis—an irrevocably changed man, determined to confront his family, filled with rage, shame, and a profound confusion. He writes, “The more I learned, the more impassioned I became, and the more I felt the need to atone on behalf of my country, to find a meaningful way to say, ‘Germans are not all like that! I’m not like that!’” Trying to redress the wrongs of his homeland, Braeden has dedicated his life off camera to humanitarian work. Now, in this moving memoir, Braeden recounts tales from every stage of his career, from his starring role in “The Rat Patrol” in the 1960s to his first time credited as Eric Braeden in “Colossus: The Forbin Project” to the steps of the winding staircase in “Titanic.” He opens up about his quest to find meaning in the difficult and sometimes frustrating work of his early career, cast in movie after movie as the stereotypical German soldier. He describes travelling around the world with his beloved bride and young son to gorgeous film locations and having the sincere honor of meeting such personal role models as Muhammad Ali and Marlon Brando. And with surprising modesty and humor, Braeden details his thrilling rise to stardom on Y&R, disclosing insider stories and hilarious anecdotes from the set. Through it all, Braeden demonstrates his dedication to righting the wrongs of his native land, and to fighting prejudice, from his participation on the Maccabees—a Jewish soccer team made up of expats who became lifelong friends—to his participation in the annual March of the Living, visiting the concentration camps in Poland with Christians and Jews to honor the millions who perished there. Filled with 16 pages of photos from Braeden’s decorated life and career, I’LL BE DAMNED will be a keepsake not only for Y&R fans, but also for those interested in a redemptive story about a life dedicated to humanitarian service.

It Doesn't Belong To You

Listen to "It Doesn't Belong To You" on Spreaker. Remember when they said, "No matter what you are digitally saving. You will never fill a terabyte." Yet today when the computer is sending you daily warnings of memory running out. A quick trip to Best Buy exposes external hard drives that are three to five terabytes thick. It makes me think of the human mind body and soul. How much memory do we truly have before our system starts tossing it out? Living a lifestyle of catch and release allows the tributaries of expectation to stay open. Let me explain. I learn it. I teach it. I make it. I show others how to make it. There is no greater feeling then watching someone grow forward while using the tools you picked up along the way. But in 2017 we still live this path of its mine and mine only. The older I get the more I see once happy men become extremely angry. Once strong business men weakened at the very thought of growing a new idea. All that information and experience inside your creative self. And you wonder why you're having pitfalls and valleys. Because none of it ever belonged to you. Let it move through you. It's a new found energy that will re-engage your drive to be successful rather than just another face in an invisible crowd. Lead. That's your real calling.

Broken Nib

Listen to "Broken Nibs" on Spreaker. Being a daily writer sometimes makes me a spoiled creative child. I have my favorite writing instruments. I rarely if ever use an ink pen purchased at a drug store. I have carefully chosen which instrument will walk with me through several miles of exploration and experience. Just like a carpenter, a dentist, doctor or a cupcake maker. We all have tools that bring everything living on the within to the outside shell to be set free. But when the tools we carry decide not to deliver that's when we feel its time to place blame on the dark clouds hanging over our heads. How often do you drive through a neighborhood and wonder how many creative minds were required to lift that house into your present? While reading a book do you ever wonder what sort of mood the author was in while sculpting that paragraph that touched you? That's the reason why I created the iHeart Radio Channel View from the Writing Instrument. I talk with authors all over the world to help share the journey of taking an invisible thought and somehow turning it into a page read three quarters of the way around the world. What are your tools? Do you respect them? Or is it just a pen purchased at a grocery store? Lift your game of success by allowing your mind body and soul the right to hold the perfect instrument of communication and transition.

The Lyrics From Billy's Forest Chapter 59

Listen to "The Lyrics From Billys Forest Chapter 59" on Spreaker. Not a guilt trip. But a thought. A closer view of what could be. I opened my heart this new season to reach beyond belief. What exactly does that mean? I wasn't sure when it fell out of my writing instrument in my journal. Taking what you know. Want to know. Will grow to know. Then watching it come to life not only in your heart. But through the paths of multiple separations that make up the community of church. I love it when new people arrive. I watch as the seed is planted. Sometimes it may grow their first morning. But through a process of changes and exchanges there is life inside the soil. But what I don't see in many cases. As much as we love those who offer the invitation for someone to grow forward. It's almost too easy to take note of what I call the drop off at the door. Thanks for coming. You're on your own. When reaching beyond belief. The goal is to help the visitor understand the changes they'll soon be going through. There are so many incredible things that take place. I also admit there's some negative stuff. Old friends don't understand the new beginning so they walk away. It invites the visitor to soon do the same. Hey what happened? I believe that with each invitation we need to complete the process by supporting the path that moment forward.

Get Out Of The Boat

Listen to "Get Out Of The Boat" on Spreaker. While writing before the sun elected to rise. A thought came to me, "Get out of the boat and walk across the water." What? Why would such an idiotic sentence like that take shape in my daily writing? The more I wrote. The more I began to understand. The water is a metaphor. Get out of yourself and walk through this ever changing nation. But do you have enough trust in God to make it to the shore? Or will you feel the splash of water across your entire presence? I share the story of how I chased being an artist. I love the idea of painting and how it was displayed in galleries. Then one day it was over. Only to realize that's exactly what so many people do with their their religions. They chase it. Get a little too much. Then set it aside because we feel full. Get out of the boat and walk across the water.
