Jeff Sotzing

Listen to "Jeff Sotzing Johnny Carson The Complete Collection" on Spreaker. Twelve years have passed since the death of Johnny Carson, the undisputed king of late night television. One of this country's most popular entertainers, Carson's massive nightly audience was estimated to have reached as many as 15 million, according to his obituary in The New York Times. Yet, if you've been waiting for the Carson bobblehead, the Carson shower curtain, or other such memorabilia that make some celebrities worth more dead than alive, you might have to wait awhile. At least as long as Jeffrey Carson Sotzing has anything to say about it. The man seated in a small, nondescript office in Fullerton is Carson's nephew, protégé, and president of Carson Entertainment Group. He shows off a framed poster of his uncle, and a framed photograph of himself with the TV icon taken in 1982 when they visited the Nebraska town where Carson grew up. Sotzing started working for his uncle when he was 24, and ended up becoming one of the producers of "The Tonight Show" and, later, Carson's business partner. He now handles the licensing of "The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson," and fields pitches about myriad Carson-themed possibilities. He points to a vintage Rolodex stuffed with yellowing cards. Buddy Hackett's name and phone number are visible. "I thought you might want to see this," says Sotzing. "Johnny knew everybody. It's a real Who's Who." He also shows off one of the coffee mugs Carson cradled at his desk while chatting up guests. Like the Rolodex, it's an original, not a newly minted knickknack. Sotzing acknowledges that Carson lent his name to a number of things. A clothing line. A cologne. Some burger stands. "But he wasn't really comfortable with that kind of stuff, and finally stopped it. What he loved most was to stand on that mark and deliver his monologue. He used to say, 'Let the work speak for us.' That's what he loved to sell. And that's what I'm selling." That conservative and respectful approach might end up leaving untold millions of dollars on the table, but Sotzing is determined to proceed with care. "I had a meeting with the guy who's worked with the Elvis Presley estate. And it was very interesting. But you know, I just can't see Johnny's face on a lunchbox." In today's world of multiple media platforms and mind-boggling technology, it takes a scoreboard to track the comings and goings of the many talk shows and their hosts. But despite having been off the air for 25 years, Johnny Carson remains "the gold standard," reminds Sotzing, who has been helping the Fullerton Museum Center assemble an exhibition.

But the television program is so much more than stellar ratings numbers; it’s a fandom that spans the entire world, and includes everyone from celebrities like Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher, to NFL stars, and beyond. Kevin Cook

Listen to "Kevin Cook Electric October" on Spreaker. The 2017 Major League Baseball season ends in just under a month on October 1. The postseason begins 2 days later on October 3. And the 2017 World Series is set to begin October 24.                 And just in time for all this baseball excitement comes the new book ELECTRIC OCTOBER. And you don't have to be a baseball fan to pick up the book and enjoy it!                 KEVIN COOK - author of the award-winning Tommy’s Honor (now a feature film) - says: "I think of ELECTRIC OCTOBER as the best baseball story you never heard. A true story of momentary fame, friendship, teamwork, memory, and life’s biggest challenge: how we deal with the cards that fate deals us."                 The 1947 World Series was “the most exciting ever” in the words of Joe DiMaggio, with a decade’s worth of drama packed into seven games between the mighty New York Yankees and the underdog Brooklyn Dodgers. Red Barber, the radio voice of the game’s golden age, swore he’d never witnessed such unlikely highs and lows. It was the first integrated Series, featuring a rookie Jackie Robinson, who broke the color line that year, and it was also the first televised World Series.                 But it was also the setting for several unlikely stories of how baseball bestows instant fame – and infamy.                 Amid all the star power on display, Cook explores the story of a half dozen men who are remembered by the game’s historians and trivia buffs if remembered at all.                 Kevin Cook’s new book, ELECTRIC OCTOBER: Seven World Series Games, Six Lives, Five Minutes of Fame That Lasted Forever [Henry Holt and Company] gets its title from the moniker given to the Series by sportswriters at the time.                                 ELECTRIC OCTOBER spotlights six men who found themselves plucked from obscurity to shine on the sport’s greatest stage: sore-armed Bill Bevens, a journeyman who knocked on the door of pitching immortality; Al Gionfriddo and Cookie Lavagetto, who came off the bench to play key roles for the Dodgers; Snuffy Stirnweiss, a wartime batting champ who never got any respect; and managers Bucky Harris and Burt Shotton, each an unlikely choice to run his team. For some of these men, the ’47 Series was a memory to hold on to. For others, it would haunt them to the end of their days. And for us, Kevin Cook offers insights—at once heartbreaking and uplifting—into what fame and heroism truly mean.                 Small-town boys, most of them, each one a hometown hero, they spent a week in the national spotlight and then faded away, forgotten. Yet Cook’s deep reporting and lively narrative goes beyond baseball history to explore how an encounter with greatness can change a man’s life forever. These six lives combine to tell a great American story of fame, friendship, teamwork, memory, and life’s biggest challenge: how we deal with the cards that fate deals us.

The Lyrics From Billy's Forest Chapter 84

Listen to "The Lyrics From Billys Forest Chapter 84" on Spreaker. I recently sat in the forest paying close attention to the changing of the leaves. Slowly one by one they'd drift to the earth below. I love to people watch. There's a dance that we do during times of challenge and or reasons to want to grow forward. Body language says a lot and most of the time those carrying the message have no clue what they're sending out. During those bouts with doubt and or shame where does the energy come to remain faithfully strong and unbent? Where do you locate peace during times of thunder? And if the storms are too strong is it because unknowingly we've halted the energy of the universe from physically entering us? A lot of questions but that's how you begin to grow forward. Ask them out loud so you can find focus on days when leaves are changing only to fall so gracefully to the planet below. During your times of change is it always a hard fall or is it a dance you've gotten used to? Where do you grow next?

Smash Mouth

The latest remix from Steve Harwell of Smash Mouth is on rBeatz Radio Walkin On The Sun.

Jimmy McDonough

Listen to "Jimmy McDonough Soul Survivor" on Spreaker. Al Green is one of the most intricate and elusive figures in popular music, and considered by many to be the greatest soul singer of the twentieth century. Yet he has never been scrutinized in print successfully. Jimmy McDonough's Soul Survivor: A Biography of Al Green is three years in the making and comprised of research that encompasses all known interviews, articles, books, and court records, as well as many sources who've never spoken on record before. It adds up to a warts-and-all portrait that all but obliterates his surface-only autobiography (which Green admits he hasn't read). The dichotomy between Green's public, God-fearing persona and the troubled, often-violent man in private is immense. He once said, "I'm a mystery. The people in my own church don't even know who I am. I'm not really sure if I know who I am half the time." Soul Survivor reconciles the two into one talented and complex individual. From hits like "Take Me to the River" and "Let's Stay Together" to Green's tortured road to gospel and how he demolished a million-dollar career along the way, this is the full treatment of the man whose life is the living embodiment of the collision between the sacred and the profane. Jimmy McDonough is a journalist and biographer best known for the bestselling Shakey: Neil Young's Biography and his biographies of Russ Meyer, Andy Milligan and Tammy Wynette. He has written for a number of publications including The Village Voice, Film Comment, and Variety. McDonough lives in Portland, Oregon.

Alane Adams

Listen to "Alane Adams Raven God" on Spreaker. When her 12-year-old son challenged her to write a book that he would actually want to read, author ALANE ADAMS knew she had her work cut out for her. Flash forward to the present day, and that challenge has manifested itself in Adams's award-winning LEGENDS OF ORKNEY trilogy, concluding this fall with THE RAVEN GOD.                 Full of action, adventure and Norse mythology, the middle grade series is perfect for fans of Percy Jackson and guaranteed to hook even the most reluctant of readers (just ask her son!). Her books are part of PopCulture classroom and taught at schools and she has an incredible online book club for schools.                  As a literacy advocate and founder of Rise Up Foundation (which has donated thousands of dollars and books to schools and libraries), Adams knew that there was something more she could do in order to encourage kids to pick up the series. Earning her title as a transmedia author, Adams decided to partner with Artifact Technologies to create BattleKasters, an interactive mobile game designed after the world of Orkney. With the ability to cast spells and interact with other players in real time, BattleKasters was a hit at Comic Cons across the country.                  She also teamed up with SAG foundation to donate books and money to their literary program (Storybook Online) where celebrities read stories aloud for children across the globe to access. Christian Slater read one of Alane’s books for the video series: http://people.com/tv/ed-oneill-reading-storyline-online-sag-aftra/

Aaron Paul

Listen to "The Business Of Aaron Paul" on Spreaker. We've evolved into a society where record labels and major publishers aren't a physical requirement to locate success. Aaron Paul knows how to put one foot in front of the other. It's about being in several places at the same time. The internet has opened the door for every platform to be your stage. Maintaining that presence comes with a price. But the payoff is well worth the work.

Prayer Within Dreams

Listen to "Prayer While Dreaming" on Spreaker. This subject has been heavy on my heart. We bump into people everyday that endlessly talk about their good or bad dreams from the night before. Why is it we can't pray while these mental movies are taking place? You can dream about praying. That's a different story. So are the words from the masters of the Pulpit when they say "God speaks to us through our dreams." That's not the point I'm bringing up. In a dream you can fly or win millions of dollars do you kneel and pray by way of being grateful? If it's a bad dream do you look at it in the face and bring God into the moment your REM is delivering? Do we have the ability and or power to bring prayer into our sleeping patterns? Not before we go to sleep. During the actual moment you are mentally seeing the visions unwrapping within your imagination. It doesn't mean you have a weak heart. Meditation is a skill. It takes many years to master the ability to mindfully place yourself in areas of peace. Learning how to pray in dreams while the dream is taking place. Are we too far from the moment to take control or is it like meditation and the art of breathing will need to come into play? Try it sometime. Take note that you're in a dream then try to pray while inside the events of that dream.

J Balvin

Listen to "rBeatz Music Update J Balvin Humble Dreams" on Spreaker. Music is such an incredible place to locate your art. The way the energy moves through you then out into an atmosphere of receivers. For J Balvin it's a very humbling experience. When you've reached the heights he has is there still room to dream? He says there's always newer ways to reach toward people. His latest release on rBeatz Radio is the very catchy Mi Gente.

Steve Lynch From Autograph

Listen to "Steve Lynch From Autograph" on Spreaker. Legendary LA Hard Rockers AUTOGRAPH have signed a deal with EMP LABEL GROUP who will release their forthcoming album GET OFF YOUR ASS October 6 th on CD and Digital, with a limited edition vinyl LP version available in November. GET OFF YOUR ASS is the first official studio LP from the revamped quartet, featuring original/founding members guitarist Steve Lynch and bassist Randy Rand, alongside new vocalist/rhythm guitarist Simon Daniels (Jailhouse), and drummer Marc Wieland. Lynch, an iconic guitarist, revered Worldwide as a bona fide guitar hero (known for his signature 8 finger hammer-on technique), reactivated the band in 2013 with bassist Randy Rand after reconnecting at the NAMM Show. After approaching original vocalist Steve Plunkett, who was unavailable for the reunion due to other business interests, with his blessing, the newly resurrected AUTOGRAPH recruited former JAILHOUSE vocalist Simon Daniels, the rest, as they say, is history. GET OFF YOUR ASS features an updated, hard-edged (and keyboard free) sound for the band, featuring down-tuned guitars, and the fiery, blues-soaked delivery of Daniels, as evidenced on tracks like “Every Generation”, “I Lost My Mind In America”, and the first single, edgy title track “Get Off Your Ass”. The album also features an updated live version of the band’s classic rock staple “Turn Up The Radio”, performed by the current lineup. Says co-founder, guitarist Steve Lynch, “Get Off Your Ass definitely sets a new direction for the band, with an updated, heavier sound, while still retaining the signature melodic hooks people have come to expect from AUTOGRAPH. This record is bound to get the attention of old Autograph fans as well as the new. So put your ears on and turn this one up!! Adds vocalist Simon Daniels, “We are so excited about this record! This is a lineup of brothers with a vision and the perfect chemistry. We wanted the record to be musically timeless, and translate a heavier sound featuring the melodies and harmonies, but with heavier guitars and a more “in your face” attitude. The lyrics come from the heart and are directed to people of our current era, with uplifting messages and positive energy. It’s AUTOGRAPH on steroids.”

Teaching Tomorrow

Listen to "Teaching Tomorrow" on Spreaker. Since July 1994 I've always called myself a daily writer. In looking back I'm not sure that's true. Journals and diaries are usually filled and tossed in a box. I've met people that have taken years to fill up a book of empty pages. Which makes me want to rethink this idea that I'm a daily writer. Honestly my calling is to take notes. A lot of them. Not to be digested today but to serve as a seed pasted to a deserted desert floor. I didn't know in 1997 that unedited sentences and paragraphs from the personal chapters would take the shape of my first published book. Once it was spotted on book shelves I thought it was over. There I did it. Not so! Today I host a daily podcast called Your Daily Ray Of Light. The lessons shared are 100% from those moments in the latter days of the 1990's. Taking notes is a very difficult discipline to keep fine tuned and oiled. Nobody wants to leave a breadcrumb trail. And yet if you did it's amazing how many of your experiences invite peace to other travelers experiencing thunder in 2017. During my moments of daily writing in February 2016 I sharply questioned my reasons for being open. The answers fit perfectly into the challenges and changes of a creative way that's been tortured by bosses, coworkers and others that think they know you. Only you know your truer self. Protect that person. There's no way you can dump them.

Fedde Le Grand

Martin Garrix

Listen to "rBeatz Music Update Martin Garrix On EDM" on Spreaker. That first step. To decide in the moment that mixing music would be your destiny. But does that mean his days in Electronic Music are over? His latest release on rBeatz Radio is Pizza.

Some leap onto the path of passion of the performance while Mono Japan calls all things created a bridge.

Teresa Giudice

The Real Housewives of New Jersey star and New York Times bestselling author Teresa Giudice opens up about her tumultuous past year in her emotional new memoir Standing Strong. In her second memoir, Teresa chronicles her life since her release from prison and what it's been like to weather difficult times as a single mother. Though she recounts the happy memories she has experienced over the past year, she also touches upon some of the darkest times of her life, including her parents' hospitalizations for severe medical issues in late 2016, which led to the tragic passing of her mother in March of 2017. With unparalleled honesty and courage, Teresa opens up in Standing Strong in ways she never has before, showing her fans what it truly means to be a survivor. MORE ON TERESA FROM BRAVOTV.COM Teresa and Joe Giudice's marriage has overcome a lot of adversity over the past few years. However, The Real Housewives of New Jersey mom doesn't seem to be as certain about the future of their relationship as she once was. Teresa opened up during a recent interview with Us Weekly about whether her 18-year marriage to Joe can survive his time away as he continues to serve his 41-month sentence in prison. "Will I still be married to Joe in 40 years? I have no idea," she said. "You don't know what life will bring." The RHONJ author opens up about her marriage like never before in her upcoming book Standing Strong, which hits shelves October 3. In it, she reveals that she's still angry with Joe for getting them into the financial situation that led to both of them serving time in prison. "I know he didn't mean to do it intentionally, but I'm still mad at the situation," she told Us Weekly. "He should have been on top of everything!" When asked if Teresa has ever thought, "I'm done" when it comes to her marriage with Joe, she said, "Not yet." But the road to forgiveness might be a long one for the RHONJ couple. "When he gets home, we'll see. We have to ride this whole thing out. He has to serve his time, come home and do amazing. And then I'll answer that question," she explained. "But I am giving him a chance. That's why I'm standing by him." However, Teresa said that she learned from her time in prison that it might be best to keep their business affairs "separate" moving forward. "I'm never signing anything ever again. I think we should keep things separate," she said. "So in that way, we kinda will be divorced." Teresa has experienced some tense moments with Joe while he's been away at prison. The RHONJ author describes her life without Joe as a "f---in' horror movie" in the prologue to Standing Strong, which has been published in full by Us Weekly.

We wanted to make a more poetic but sensual video and, the same time, bring out how the mind revisits the past in times of sorrow. The sense of absence and desolation is masterfully captured by the director Adrianna Dziedziela in her first collaboration with the band.”

Sounds In Your Silence

Listen to "Sound In Silence" on Spreaker. Is there sound in silence? If it were proven to be true wouldn't silence have to adopt a new identity? In every walk of life there's always someone seeking permission to step through the walls of this everyday world and do nothing but experience the presence of silence. It doesn't exist. There's sound in silence. Have you ever meditated? How long do you step away before those thousand voices begin a process of tearing you down and apart? We are the generation that's had to participate with too much noise. No matter where you walk or play there's always something taking place. Probably more in your mind and heart than anywhere else. Because we try so hard to locate a silent walk or thought we are forced into what I call Accepted Behavior Of Randomly Tight Invitations Of Numbness. Think about it. We accept the behavior of ourselves and others who are consumed by that ancient feeling labeled numb. Numb is how millions of people are accepting 2017. But look deeper into my description. Accepted Behavior Of Randomly Tight Invitations Of Numbness. The first letters of each word says it all. What are you getting rid of to locate silence. When in fact it doesn't exist. Not until we get those invisible voices a place to play other than your mind body and soul.

Mike and Kevin From Mystery Science Theater

Listen to "Mike and Kevin From Mystery Science Theater 3000" on Spreaker. Just in time for Halloween, the guys who make movies funny are back in select movie theaters nationwide for an exclusive rebroadcast of the 2013 riff on the zombie movie that started it all: Night of the Living Dead. Join Michael J. Nelson, Kevin Murphy and Bill Corbett of RiffTrax.com for a hilarious riff on this masterpiece of brain eating mayhem! This one night event will be your only chance to relive this fan favorite back on the big screen. This classic 1968 horror film is where it all began. No, not the cronut trend, we're talking about the omnipresent zombie craze! 28 Weeks Later, Resident Evil: Retribution, that Zack Snyder remake of Dawn of the Dead...We wouldn't have any of them without Night of the Living Dead! (Pause to think about whether this is a good thing.) When she's attacked in a cemetery by zombies, a young woman named Barbara flees to an abandoned farm house. There she's joined by a ragtag group of survivors who band together to wait out the apocalypse, with the occasional light descent into madness. The rest of the movie plays out like The Big Chill, but instead of Glenn Close sobbing naked in the shower, they board up windows and occasionally get devoured alive. So in this respect, Night of the Living Dead is the slightly less depressing movie. Shotguns! Molotov cocktails! Exploding cars! Headshots galore! Like one of those awesome zombie video games (except you don't get to play it), RiffTrax Live: Night of the Living Dead is guaranteed to be scarier than Brad Pitt's beard in World War Z and funnier than the acting on The Walking Dead! You won't want to miss it! https://www.fathomevents.com/events/rifftrax-night-of-the-living-dead?date=2017-10-25

Jordan Fisher and Lindsay Arnold

Listen to "Jordan Fisher And Lindsey From DWTS" on Spreaker. 2016 was a breakout year for multi-talented artist Jordan Fisher, whose talent clearly knows no boundaries, from TV to music to film and, most recently, Broadway. In January, Fisher's take as Doody in FOX's Emmy-winning broadcast of Grease: LIVE earned him critical acclaim and was deemed the show's breakout star by MTV and People Magazine. That spring, he released his first single, "All About Us," which was produced by Oak Felder (Alessia Cara, Arianna Grande, Rihanna) and melded influences of pop/soul/R&B. The song was the #2 most added song and a top 30 hit at pop radio. In August, Fisher released his self-titled EP, which debuted #18 on the Billboard Heatseeker album chart. After performing on The Today Show, the ESPY's Red Carpet Special and opening for Alicia Keys at the Apple Music Festival, Fisher was tagged to perform the end title credit to Disney's hit animated feature film Moana with award-winning songwriter/producer Lin-Manual Miranda. Fisher, who has been called out by Miranda as "super-talented," saw a lifelong dream of performing on Broadway come to fruition when he joined the cast of Miranda's uber-hit Hamilton, where he took on the dual roles of John Laurens and Philip Hamilton. When ABC was curating the music for When We Rise, an eight-hour miniseries event with music guiding the four and a half decade storyline, they looked no further than Fisher to cover the 70's classic, "I'd Love to Change the World." The song opened the two-hour premiere, directed by Gus Van Sant. The underlying thread to all Fisher's success across the board is music. He's not just a multi-talented performer but also a storyteller. His influences are diverse and can be traced back to his days growing up in a football town outside of Birmingham, Alabama, where he cultivated his tastes by listening to everything from Luther Vandross to Metallica while simultaneously developing his acting skills at the Birmingham-based Red Mountain Theatre Company. With a bright future in front of him, 2017 is sure to be another banner year as Fisher readies his debut full-length album. This fall he will release his new single "MESS" with Hollywood Records. Jordan Fisher is partnered with Pro Lindsay Arnold. ABOUT LINDSAY ARNOLD Lindsay Arnold is back for Season 25 of "Dancing with the Stars" and will be partnered with actor, Broadway star, and Hollywood Records singer Jordan Fisher! The perfect pairing will no doubt have America tuning in this season as they watch Lindsay and Jordan take the stage each week. Season 25 premieres on ABC September 18th and will mark Lindsay's tenth season as a professional dancer on the show. Get ready to watch as Lindsay shows Jordan how to take his skills from the neon lights of Broadway to center stage. Last season Lindsay danced her way into America's hearts alongside 2-time World Series champion and former MLB player, David Ross. Lindsay and Grandpa Rossy, aka 'Team Lady and the Gramps' placed second in Season 24. Prior to "Dancing with the Stars," Lindsay was a top four finalist and fan favorite on season 9 of FOX's "So You Think You Can Dance."

The Lyrics From Billy's Forest Chapter 83

Listen to "The Lyrics From Billys Forest Chapter 83" on Spreaker. These are some trying times. So many unexpected headlines and business decisions causing horrible shades of stress leading to fear. How can we survive the attacks inside an age of where it's OK to tell employees to work free of charge during overtime hours? Society bounces back in ways that make very dark headlines. That in itself causes fear to pop its shell and begin a process of growing roots. World leaders with potty mouths and no desire to back off. It's all there! Every reason to begin trusting fear. Which isn't a good field to plant new dreams, ambitions and reasons for being. What if it wasn't up to you? When the "J" guy was in the garden shortly before his arrest he fell to his knees and said, "Father, all things are possible for you. Remove this cup from me. Yet not what I will, but what you will” I'm no scholar but many have argued about this story and lesson. I don't see "J" fearing but rather giving. Use it as a lesson on your own personal journey. The first sign of thunder clouds rather than running for cover give your season to the maker of rain.

Rich Robinson From Black Crowes

Listen to "Rich Robinson The Magpie Salute" on Spreaker. THE MAGPIE SALUTE—which brings together the reunited guitar team of Rich Robinson and Marc Ford from the Black Crowes and bassist Sven Pipien (also from the Crowes) with other dynamic musicians and co-ed singers from around the world–are earning praise on their debut American tour that launched July 26 in Indianapolis. Of the 10-piece band‘s August 11 performance at the Peach Music Festival in Scranton, PA, where the set listincluded material from theirself-titled debut album (released June 9 via Eagle Rock Entertainment and available via Amazon here), Rolling Stone noted:   “The Magpie Salute, featuring Black Crowes alumni Marc Ford and Sven Pipien, members of the Rich Robinson Band, vocalist John Hogg, and a soulful group of background singers, took the stage to show they could be just as powerful as the Crowes ever were. Hogg’s voice stunned on a soaring version of the Crowes’ ‘My Morning Song‘…and the band debuted the original tune ‘Omission,‘an electrifying hybrid of hard rock and Southern blues with a melodic bridge.“–Matt Mattei, 8/14/17   On their 60-show summer-into-fall outing including two-night engagement in Chicago (Metro), San Francisco (The Fillmore) and New York City (Irving Plaza), THE MAGPIE SALUTE are drawing from over 170 songs including material by The Black Crowes, solo albums from Rich Robinson and Marc Ford, and classic cover songs that have inspired the band.   As a result, their shows are unpredictable and completely fresh, with Gary Graff of the Oakland Press in Michigan hailing their performance as “…an organic and dynamic exposition of music in the moment“ (7/31/17). Writing in North Carolina’s Smoky Mountain News about the Asheville show, Garret K. Woodward said: “The Magpie Salute is a juggernaut of pure rock-n-roll swagger, the shock and awe of a triple-guitar assault on the audience, fueled by thunderous kick-drums and songbird backup soul singers” (8/23/17). Elsewhere, the rock blog Live For Live Music raved about the Atlanta show: “The energy stayed strong through their 20-song set, with incendiary musicianship blasting through the instruments of the artists on stage“(8/19/17).   THE MAGPIE SALUTE–whom will record a double album in 2018–features musicians who‘ve played together for decades throughout various projects and share a truly deep musical bond. Joining Robinson, Ford and Pipien in the band are drummer Joe Magistro and guitarist Nico Bereciartua. The group also boasts a fine cast of vocalists, including Robinson, Ford, lead singer John Hogg (Hookah Brown, Moke), former Crowes singer Charity White and background singers Adrien Reju and Katrine Ottosen. Notably, THE MAGPIE SALUTE is a truly international band. London‘s John Hogg is of Swedish/African heritage, Sven Pipien is German, Nico Bereciartua is an Argentinean citizen and Kat Ottosen is a Danish citizen who partly lives in Copenhagen. Click here to see the striking Matthew Sterling-directed video for “Omission“that was filmed in London back in April when THE MAGPIE SALUTE was there to perform four roof-raising shows at the Under The Bridge venue.

Friendships

Listen to "Friendships" on Spreaker. I'm "not" a loner. And yet I love walking into a recording studio alone and getting lost in a project that brings success to not just one person but many. But here's the problem. In this age of so many platforms and reasons for having collaborations how true is the foundation of friendship? I keep hearing stories about how this friend did this and that friend did that. There's Facebook Friends and Instagram Friends. Church friends and workplace friends. But does it truly fit into what's supposed to be a sacred connection of growing forward and outward? Here's how the dictionary defines friendship: a state of mutual trust and support between allied nations. Now lets look up relationship: the way in which two or more concepts, objects, or people are connected, or the state of being connected. It says nothing about trust and support. Most businesses influence, inspire and motivate their teams of worker bees to bring their talents together. That's called a relationship. Not a friendship. And most are left along side the road until further teamwork is expected if ever. That doesn't qualify as a friendship. You can be friendly to each other. You can build journeys and success stories. Instantly I'm reminded of the way people poke at their spouses and say, "That's your workplace wife or husband." We spend so much time at work that it kinda points to that. But it doesn't shape shift into a friendship. It can. But we're talking reality. I always try to rely on the children's song make new friends but keep the old. One is silver and the other is gold. It can be used as a tool but... It totally invites us to dump and run. Not to challenge you. Look deeper into the cause and effect. In what areas of your life do you have friends? And are they true or a chest pain away from leaving the scene?

Jason Delgado

Listen to "Jason Delgado Bounty Hunter" on Spreaker. Jason Delgado knows the mean streets. He survived them as a kid during the height of the crack epidemic that ravaged the South Bronx, while friends and family fell into the violence wrought by the drug plague. As a young man he survived them again - a different type of "mean streets" -- this time as a lead sniper during Operation Iraqi Freedom. In his powerful memoir, BOUNTY HUNTER 4/3: My Life in Combat from Marine Scout Sniper to MARSOC (St. Martin's Press, on sale October 3, 2017, $27.99), co-authored with Chris Martin, Delgado recounts how surviving the Bronx was crucial for lessons needed for surviving Iraq, and just as important to him, discovering who he was as shaped by his lifelong battles here and abroad. With drugs and gangs all around him in the Bronx of the 1980s-1990s, Delgado knew his survival depended on getting out. The United States Marine Corps beckoned. Initially Delgado struggled to get up to speed, and his street tough mentality wasn't always the best trait to exhibit. Delgado, though, has always been a survivor and that suited him well. His well-honed instincts helped him rise through the ranks until he found himself one of the service's esteemed Scout Snipers. His reward? Being thrown into the hellfire that was, and still is, the war in Iraq. In that arena of battle, Delgado proved himself time and again to be one the most fearless Marines on the ground. And as a sniper, his performances were taking on legendary and cult-like status. His efforts on the field of battle turned numerous skirmishes in favor of the U.S. forces, in particular the nightmare that was becoming the Battle for Husaybah. Upon returning home, Delgado was given an extraordinary opportunity to become MARSOC's first ever lead sniper instructor. In accepting this position, he made himself a pivotal figure in revolutionizing the way special operations snipers trained and operated. But even as he accomplished so much on the field of battle and then in training future warriors - not to mention his successful business venture stateside - he continued to struggle with understanding how these experiences transformed him into the man he is today. Jason Delgado is a true American military hero, and an original who fought his battles on his terms, even when it ruffled feathers. That harsh upbringing, and battle-tested character, molded him into a loving father and successful entrepreneur, and a dedicated fighter against radical Islamic terrorism.

Listen to "Jay Shaw The Underdog" on Spreaker. The reason I started making music is because… I grew up always feeling like the underdog. Always told what I CAN and CAN'T DO! I wanted to start living for myself by expressing myself in music meanwhile shattering the glass ceilings anyone tries to place over me.
