Eddie Z

Listen to "Eddie Z And The Vault Dwellers" on Spreaker. Eddie has always been one of my favorite conversationalists. He doesn't mind me digging around in his heart for the strings of his guitar. Every lyric. Each riff. I don't want to listen to my interpretation of the sounds. I need his inspiration and influence as to what and why it suddenly creates pictures inside the imagination of music fans all over the south. Eddie's not afraid to let me ask questions. He knows I'm coming after the source and his answers will forever be priceless to all people connected to creativity.

The Measurement Of Growth

Listen to "The Measurement Of Growth" on Spreaker. It's around us more than bad news and chocolate. We're endlessly being measured by how and when we are growing. As much as we want to point an evil crooked finger at bosses and or other decision makers, I believe we do more damage to ourselves without them. We spend months and years wondering why an inch doesn't feel like a victory but rather a twelve mile high mountain of doubt, fear, shame and guilty. Through meditation and learning the strength connected to mindful thinking and living you begin to develop a process of forgiveness. What is reality but what we're dealing with in the moment? That's not a free ticket to check in with your 16 year old self trying to get away with something your parents wouldn't like. Nor is it the visionary in you planning for peaceful new beginnings sometime next week. Opening your heart and mind isn't a magic trick. It's putting focus on your present. It sounds wacky and out of shape to put your power of thinking into a mode of being nothing more than a willow swaying with the wind. It works. There is no distance in the present. It's happening now. You don't have to reach or bend backwards. Getting caught up in what you can't control infects the layout of how you greet people, perform on the work front and welcome life after you've given it all away. Is it easy to live in the now? If it was everybody would be doing it. When you are stressed and feel like being broken is the new you. Calmly tell your inner self, "Open your heart. Open your mind." Listen to the atmosphere as it moves through you. Take notes. No matter who you are in life. You're always a student.

Terri Nunn from Berlin

Listen to "Terri Nunn From Berlin" on Spreaker. "New music is the lifeblood of anybody making music- it's that creation, excitement, new babies [songs]! It inspires me and it inspires others," declares Terri Nunn, the charismatic and enigmatic singer of L.A.'s iconic synth electro-pop pioneers, BERLIN. BERLIN will forever be recognized as the American progenitor of electro-pop artistry with sensually appealing lyrics. Few bands emerging from the era of BERLIN have achieved as far-reaching and long-lasting an impact and, rarely, such a timeless array of musical grooves. The Los Angeles-based band made its first national impression with the provocative single "Sex (I'm A...)" from the platinum-selling debut EP Pleasure Victim in 1982. "The Metro" and "No More Words" were also chart toppers, but it was the unforgettable, intimate, and strikingly beautiful love song, "Take My Breath Away" that took the band to another level. The ballad's defining role in the Tom Cruise film, Top Gun, helped solidify BERLIN's everlasting place in American pop-culture. The song was a #1 international hit and received both the Golden Globe and Academy Award for "Best Original Song" in 1986. The band released its seventh studio album, Animal, in 2013. Animal explored contemporary electronic dance music while remaining true to the groundbreaking sound and Nunn's signature vocals that continue to define BERLIN. Animal was the result of Nunn's re-ignited love affair with current electronic music, and the feeling that BERLIN could make a unique statement in the EDM [electronic dance music] milieu. "It's still my favorite medium. I've loved it since I met John [Crawford, original Berlin bassist) in 1979, when he wanted to bring electronic music to America, because it wasn't here yet," she recalls. "What it's morphing into is exciting me so much, I was motivated to look for songwriting partners to help us initial impression on the music world in 1982, with their seductive single, "Sex (I'm A.)," from the platinum- certified debut EP Pleasure Victim. BERLIN's first full length LP, Love Life, hit in 1984 and was certified gold. In 1986, BERLIN topped the charts with the unforgettable, intimate and strikingly beautiful love song, "Take My Breath Away." The ballad's defining role in the Tom Cruise film Top Gun has also helped solidify BERLIN's everlasting place in American pop-culture. Nunn's ongoing influence earned her the #11 spot on VH1.com's "100 Greatest Women in Rock," while, as an actress, she played leading roles in films including Katie: Portrait of a Centerfold with Kim Basinger, and Thank God It's Friday with Jeff Goldblum and Debra Winger. Currently, Nunn is recording a brand new BERLIN studio album with her original BERLIN band members and co-writers, John Crawford (bass) and David Diamond (keyboards). The album is scheduled for release in early 2019. The album is being produced by Australian producers Andy and Thom Mak. The album marks the first collaboration by Nunn, Crawford and Diamond since "Love Life," the third BERLIN album, released in 1984. Video was very important to early hits like "Sex (I'm A...)" and "The Metro"- has also taken on new meaning for BERLIN. "YouTube is the new MTV," Nunn notes. "We used to spend so much money on mini movies, but now all you need is a good HD camera and a guy who knows some lighting. Online is where people go to see and hear music-it's free and it's easy and so wonderful." Nunn's honesty and infectious enthusiasm carries through every aspect of "Animal," which she views as an entirely new chapter. "I always looked at music as passion. All we can do is appreciate that people's passion is so strong for music... I feel it too, it's part of my DNA, and I love what I grew up with. What I learn as I get older," she concludes, "is that it's not about money or 'making it.' Sure, they're fun games, but it's about connection, that's where the real joy, passion and bliss comes from, and music is such a huge part of connecting people. It's the way. to bliss." BERLIN's discography has yielded twelve gold and platinum album awards. The band-founded by Nunn, bassist John Crawford, and keyboard player David Diamond-made its everlasting place in American pop-culture. Nunn's ongoing influence earned her the #11 spot on VH1.com's "100 Greatest Women in Rock." long with comedienne, Wendy Liebman, Nunn also previously hosted the critically acclaimed radio show Unbound with Terri Nunn on 88.5 FM KCSN Los Angeles. Despite her many creative outlets, music, BERLIN and touring remain Nunn's first love. Nunn, a rabid music fan, was inspired by Fleetwood Mac's "Rhiannon" and her discovery of the LA club scene, starting with the band, X. Looking back, she recalls her own early musical dreams. "I remember going to a Rolling Stones concert at the Rose Bowl, and I couldn't believe they did 2 ½ hours of songs and I knew every single one! That's a legacy, a body of work that has mattered to people. That's what I aspired to," she says. "Of course, no way am I close to that body of work, but I have a number of songs that people love that much, and they come to hear Berlin over and over. I'm so grateful for that."

The Lyrics From Billy's Forest Chapter 117

Listen to "The Lyrics From Billys Forest Chapter 117" on Spreaker. I struggle with memories. It's not that I can't remember. I don't feel in this age of continuous growth that we need to feed our creative minds with memories. Being upfront and honest. How many of your memories have been rewritten by your imaginations curse to always want the best of times? My most recent trip back home to Montana wasn't designed to catch up on memories or check in with chapters already lived. I sat in the center of Optimist Park on a very cold June afternoon and challenged myself to write extremely fast. Not to think about anything falling into the journal. I wanted to come back to the page on a later date and see what living in the present was truly like. I challenged myself to be in the moment. Look at what we do when we check in with radio stations that play oldies. Are we there for the memories or are we trying to invite a great song into the presence of our present? Feels Like The First Time from Foreigner ignites me each time I hear it. Rather than think about being a teenager locked up in his bedroom pretending to be a radio disc jockey, the power of the song moves through me in this moment. Sitting at a dog park with Jazzie the rescued dog that has a fun loving way of being a loner. When I hear the song in 2018 it has a new meaning. It has a fresh start and finish. Then I put it away and can't wait to share another music date. I didn't fare well with the jotting down of thought at Optimist Park. I turned it into a flashback to which my modern self tries to defend. If it was a true memory writing moment the writer forgot some very important parts that took place on those waves of extremely green grass and now very tall trees.

Dam Hampton

Listen to "Lieutenant Colonel (Ret.) Dan Hampton Releases Chasing The Demon" on Spreaker. After Hiroshima, the ability to deliver a nuclear device to target faster than one's enemy became the singular obsession of American war planners. Speed. In 1947, it represented the difference between victory and annihilation. And so, in the earliest days of the Cold War, a highly classified program was conducted on a desolate air base in California's Mojave Desert. Its aim: to push the envelope of flight to new frontiers. There gathered an extraordinary band of pilots-including Second World War aces Chuck Yeager and George Welch-who risked their lives flying experimental aircraft to reach Mach 1, the so-called sound barrier, which pilots nicknamed "the demon." Shrouding the program in secrecy, the US military only reluctantly revealed the "barrier" had been broken two months after the fact because the story was leaked to the press. To this day, the full truth has never been revealed-until now. CHASING THE DEMON: A Secret History of the Quest for the Sound Barrier, and the Band of American Aces Who Conquered It (on-sale July 24, 2018), from decorated fighter pilot and acclaimed aviation historian Dan Hampton, tells, for the first time, the extraordinary true story of the mankind's quest for Mach 1. Illuminating and insightful, key revelations and highlights from the book include: - Was aviation legend Chuck Yeager REALLY the first man to break the sound barrier? Captain Chuck Yeager made history flying the futuristic Bell X-1 faster than the speed of sound on October 14, 1947. But based on interviews with Yeager's former commander and a trove of declassified documents, Hampton presents new evidence that fellow American George Welch (like Yeager, a WWII ace) very possibly beat Yeager to Mach 1 by two weeks. - The top-secret story of the Mach 1 program and nuclear war. In 1947, two years after the atomic bombing of Hiroshima launched the nuclear age, the quest for speed was of paramount strategic importance to American war planners as they entered the earliest days of the Cold War-i.e. whoever could get over target first with "nukes" held the "high ground." The X-1 program was classified as top secret, and even today, little is known of it-until now. - Meeting the band of extraordinary aces who pushed the limits over the skies of the Mojave. This was also a human story featuring an unforgettable, but-with the exception of Yeager-all but unknown cast of characters. The Air Force gathered their best of the best to Muroc Air Base in the Mojave Desert to push the limits of human achievement. Here was George Welch for example, one of two American pilots who got airborne at Pearl Harbor and who later shot down a total of 16 enemy aircraft during the Pacific War. Hampton brings these characters, along with the stories of several more legendary aces, to life. - Revelations that draw on exclusive new eyewitness interviews and newly declassified files. Hampton has interviewed Ken Chilstrom, World War II combat fighter pilot and Yeager's superior officer, for the book. Chilstrom is 97 years old and has never publicly spoken in depth about the program until now. Hampton also obtained copies of all George Welch's original test reports, noting several unusual discrepancies. Written by "one of the most decorated pilots in Air Force history" (New York Post), and the New York Times bestselling author of Viper Pilot, Lords of the Sky, The Hunter Killers, and The Flight, Hampton brings unique personal experience to this narrative. Able to penetrate the secretive and reticent world of the fighter pilot, Hampton has uncovered a story never fully explained until now with CHASING THE DEMON. "Chasing the Demon flows very smoothly and tells a great story about the pioneers of highspeed flight, primarily from the pilots' perspective. Whether you are a pilot, engineer, or an aviation-history enthusiast, reading Dan Hampton's book is time well spent."- JOHN D. ANDERSON JR., Curator of Aerodynamics at the National Air & Space Museum Illustrated with thirty-five photographs, CHASING THE DEMON recalls this period of the emerging Cold War and the brave adventurers pursuing the final frontier in aviation. William Morrow is excited to publish this thrilling narrative this summer.

Captain Dave Marciano of the Hard Merchandise (@CaptMarciano) is out to turn things around after a disappointing season in Gloucester last year, in which he caught only five fish and landed near the bottom of the leaderboard. For the Marciano clan, fishing is a family affair.

Are Preachers Travel Agents

Listen to "Are Preachers Travel Agents" on Spreaker. A lot of crazy thoughts and words drop off the tip of my daily writing instrument. Sometimes a simple entry can shape the rest of the day. Especially when the chicken scratch left on the page asks what seems to be a simple question but this one comes with weight. Are preachers travel agents? I watch and listen to a long list of spiritually driven men and women who know in their hearts that there's this place where everything will be brilliantly landscaped with love, forgiveness, compassion, no sickness or pain. They sell it! I'm not in question or doubt. I'm just seeing something that most don't want to talk about. With so many huge volunteering hours and dollars dropped in the plate, I've talked with multiple many that feel entitled. They believe they're getting the best seat on the boat as it sails into Heaven. Long gone will be your human form but what if what you were sold doesn't live up to the expectation? God's gonna give you this! You're going to receive that! You are guaranteed! I love those odds. The agent said, "Guaranteed." Then I'm reminded of how the J man rode a donkey into town. He didn't want to look greater or better than. Feeling entitled is a scary place. I know a lot of car dealerships that couldn't live up to their 100,000 mile warranties. It didn't matter how much they backed it up the vehicle that brought you into the present wasn't living up to what you were sold. Break that down. Being a student of Christ is a brilliant walk in life. Know that you will be challenged and there will be change. Know it's about serving his plan and purpose and not how you arrive. Be the donkey. Carry wisdom forward by way of truth.

Deen And Doug From Dead Daisies

Listen to "Deen and Doug From The Dead Daisies" on Spreaker. “BURN IT DOWN” is a muscular tour-de-force, a tornado of pounding drums, pulverizing bass, screaming guitars and in-your-face raw vocals. Evoking the best of 70s Rock, with moments of Birmingham’s finest, blended with the early works of Boston’s best, “Burn It Down” will do just that: Burn down everything in it’s path until there is nothing left standing. Recorded in Nashville with Marti Frederiksen at the helm, the band finished their 4th studio album “Burn It Down” in December, with Anthony Focx once again handling the mix and mastering legend Howie Weinberg adding his magic. John Corabi about the new record: “I’m extremely excited about our new record “BURN IT DOWN”! It was a pleasure to once again work with Marti Frederiksen and the band on what I believe is the next great step in The Dead Daisies journey. This is a balls-out old school rock record!!! Enjoy it, and see you all on our massive 2018 world tour!!!! Peace, Crabby” Doug Aldrich puts it quite simply, yet to the point: “The new Daisies album will melt your face! It is raw and in-your-face with a whole new sound!” With the band eager to get on the road and in true Daisies’ fashion, the band announced the first of many BURN IT DOWN TOUR dates slated for 2018 right before Christmas with fans turning out in droves at the on-sale date. Many more dates are to be announced including the band’s highly anticipated return to Japan and South America! They love the Daisies and the Daisies love them back! Rock is indeed alive and well!!!

Feeling Guilty About Today

Listen to "Why Do We Feel Guilty About Our Day" on Spreaker. A constant question my father asked, "Why did you do it?" Even while walking in a pair of adult shoes I hear my father's expressions. Not concerns but expressions. The reason why he asked why I did something was help me locate awareness. That's why I don't jump off cliffs. I'd be the fool that would ask why in the center of the fall. There's a common tone I keep hearing but you have to listen carefully to understand the language. From family members to co-workers to people you've just met, more and more people are feeling guilty about their day. What does that mean? Guilty that you didn't accomplish a goal. Guilty that demands weren't met at work. Guilty that your child just gave you the glare of the century. I'll be the first to admit that messages from church leaders have a way of bringing on the guilt. That's when I'm brought back to my father's question,"Why did you do it?" Learning how to break down guilt is worse then making sure the trash is always at the curb on pickup day. We love to brag about having mountains of success with pictures inside the smartphone to prove it. The moment we come up to a mountain of challenges the guilt sets in. Guilty that we're not as mentally checked into technology as we thought we were. Guilty of what you had for lunch when it would've made a great dinner. Guilty that you forgot to congratulate your sister for being dry for 24 years. Mountains! My first radio job was in Lewistown, Montana. It's surrounded by seven different mountain ranges. I used to sit outside and stare into their energy never once realizing that life would deliver more. How do you stop feeling guilty about today? By recognizing the importance of what you bring. Today it might have been a simple smile. Next week it could be maple bars from QT. An odd ball quote fell from my writing instrument today that might easily warm things up. "I know the soil is hard as granite. With you Lord we can replant the seeds in new mud." We feel guilty about today because everyday before this day is rock hard on our paths of choice and decision. Grab a shovel and lets get some new air into that field of dreams.

Open Door Policy

Listen to "Open Door Policy" on Spreaker. I'm not afraid to ask questions. I wish those around me felt the same. Asking questions is better then learning from a book. Using the experiences of others is a brilliant tool for the preparation of awkward steps. We don't ask questions. We expect lessons. Show me how to do this so I can get on with the process. When something fails the obvious reaction is, "Nobody showed me how to do that." To which the reply is always, "You didn't ask." The same is true about personal visions and decisions. We totally forget the idea maker in our heart and head has a plan but the outside shell is determined to find victory without there being a riverbed of defeat. I wish I could say that every time I pop open the microphone the message shared is always better then the last. That's not going to happen. Being live on the air is a physical act of collected disciplines. It's no different then the Harris Teeter employee that drops a jar of peanut butter in one lane and a sack of sugar ten minutes later in another. How? Why? Where will the next mess be met with the reality of being human? Two years ago I was interviewed about an open door policy. What I felt then compared to now. Is there a better connection with the final outcome? Asking the right questions will always lead to a deeper truth. Assuming we know how things are being grown leaves your field unharvested.

Jim Miller

Listen to "Jim Miller From Talk Of A Lifetime" on Spreaker. We all experience so much in our lives, from the big moments of getting your first job, to lighter but still important memories like attending our first baseball game. And although we may know some of the life events important to our loved ones, many of us don’t know about the experiences that truly make them who they are. How can we learn more about the people that matter to us most? To help families learn more about their loved ones, The Funeral and Memorial Information Council (FAMIC) has teamed up with Popular Syndicated Columnist Jim MIller to discuss how to Have The Talk of a Lifetime. Finding a way to start talking with a loved about significant moments can be the most difficult part, so FAMIC has created Have The Talk of a Lifetime Conversation Cards, which offer questions/ideas for helping to get these conversations started. These cards include questions such as, “What is the best lesson you ever learned”, and, “what is the scariest thing that ever happened to you?” By using these conversation questions as jumping off points, you may be surprised by what you learn about people you have spent your entire life with.

Recognizing The Thunder

Listen to "Recognizing The Thunder" on Spreaker. We all have beasts and monsters. You aren't living life if you deny it. Most of these chunks of thunder are so large and loud they become the makers of every decision made. Being a daily writer I'm given the incredible opportunity to study the behavior of what it's like to have a creative mind. It didn't start out being transparent because it's easier to paint the walls of an old house then it is to rebuild them. Yet behind the sheet rock rests the spirits of the beasts and monsters. In May of 2016 I wrote about learning how to not only recognize the thunder but how to deal with the reverberation felt on the paths we walk. You can't show any emotion while face to face. Like a dog, the beast and monster want any kind of attention. Grasping onto the awareness of your present place is mindfully recognizing your stronger position. Ask them to leave. What? It can't be that easy! Ask them to leave. Through meditation I've learned how to control the atmosphere we're invited to participate with. The elements that make up your now don't need a buzz kill. They need a well rounded completely in control you. Ask the beast and monster to leave. Be in the moment without them. They are in your thoughts not out here where the rest of us can see. Ask them to leave. It's going to take practice. Once you begin to realize how your mindsets have changed and a more positive you is available you're going to start growing again. But wait! This is how unique the beast and monsters are... They'll begin to show up in the people and places around you. Awareness is the key factor. What you no longer hear in your head and heart will be spoken and or shown the way by way of the elements around you. Ask them to leave. Be open and honest. Mention to the passerby how there are certain things said or done by them that rock your system of choice. Learn together so you can be stronger in the place called now. It's the only thing you have control of. Make the right choice.

After a much needed long recess, the leaders of the playground are back and ready to conquer a new school year and this season our fearless heroines are fighting the spread of the vicious and highly contagious lice epidemic. The Teachers are put to the test when the dreaded curse of creepy crawlers enters the classroom, and the question remains – who will make it out alive? Teachers stars The Katydids, the improv group consisting of Caitlin Barlow (Ms. Cannon), Katy Colloton (Ms. Snap), Cate Freedman (Ms. Feldman), Kate Lambert (Ms. Watson), Katie O’Brien (Ms. Bennigan) and Kathryn Renée Thomas (Mrs. Adler). The Katydids write, star and executive produce the series. Teachers revolves around six elementary school teachers who are trying to mold the minds and lives of America's youth, even though they really don't seem to have their own lives together at all. Last season, Variety hailed the cast, stating, “in terms of acing the midterm, the Katydids have indeed done it,” while Bustle said “the female-driven sitcom is hilarious, insightful, and totally cute.”

The Lyrics From Billy's Forest Chapter 116

Listen to "The Lyrics From Billys Forest Chapter 116" on Spreaker. With so many choices many of us have gotten caught up in playing the game but not living the lifestyle. Radio is a great example. Anyone and pretty much everyone thinks they can be on the air. In every lecture I always ask, "I think it's awesome that you have the confidence to pop open that microphone and share your personality. But do you have the courage to sit in that seat when the weather has produced a tornado? Do you have the solid behavior of a Broadcaster to not move from that studio if war broke out on our shores?" Every business has it's share of players without enforcing the employee to live the lifestyle. Being public with my Christianity came with a price. I miss a lot of my friends and believe many making decisions on the business front don't want a Jesus freak in the front seat. I tried to hide for years only to realize the importance of the spiritual growth isn't supposed to be tucked in a box. Did you know the most important person in Hollywood isn't the actor, writer producer or studio. It's the man or woman taking your ticket at the door. The very second you step inside the theater the way you're greeted makes or breaks the experience. Next stop is the popcorn. Are you being met by a player or someone that's made it their lifestyle? It's like purchasing a motorcycle for the thrill of the adventure then never riding it.

Ora Nadrich

Listen to "Ora Nadrich Releases Says Who" on Spreaker. The big idea: Most people don’t question their fear-based or self-negating thoughts, but tend to readily accept them. Regardless of whether the destructive thoughts have any basis in reality, people can let them invade their minds and hijack their confidence and well-being. The so what: Learning how to ask “Says who?” confronts the negative and fear-based thoughts holding people hostage so that the thoughts no longer exert their influence. Coming to realize that the thought isn’t real or valid, and that it’s ultimately useless to them, allows people to successfully align their inner dialogue with their goals and dreams. The source: Ora Nadrich is founder and president of the Institute for Transformational Thinking, and author of Says Who? How One Simple Question Can Change the Way You Think Forever.

Manhattan Transfer

Listen to "Manhattan Transfer Releases The Junction" on Spreaker. Legendary vocal group The Manhattan Transfer releaseD their first new studio album in 10 years titled THE JUNCTION on March 30 via BMG. In conjunction with the release, the group was seen nationwide with their new PBS special titled "The Summit," a dual show with Take 6 that started April 26; and announced a U.S. tour. The album promptly hit #1 on iTunes' Jazz Chart. THE JUNCTION - the group's new album which draws inspiration from The Transfer's classic 1975 version of Glenn Miller's "Tuxedo Junction" - features the group's newest member, bass vocalist Trist Curless, who joined the group when late band founder Tim Hauser fell ill in 2013; officially joining after Hauser's passing in late 2014. Curless (formerly of m-pact), joins Janis Siegel (alto), Alan Paul (tenor) and Cheryl Bentyne (soprano), as they release a collection of songs that includes five selections that the members wrote or co-write themselves. THE JUNCTION was produced by five-time Grammy winner -- vocalist, film composer, arranger and producer Mervyn Warren. "As our work on The Junction, and the theme of the album reflects - democracy is the fabric of the group, and has been from the beginning," says Bentyne. "It's a whole different ball game, but one we feel is still musically very viable and exciting," adds Siegel. Paul says, "The concept of The Junction is that this is a special meeting place, a junction of merging our four and a half decade musical legacy with something new. We weren't looking to replace Tim's unique personality, but found in Trist someone who could add a new element to the group, and take care of the bottom of the quartet with his true bass." Curless reflects, "My personal desire was that the album would sound like The Manhattan Transfer, keeping what they've done, but bringing a new energy that would come naturally with my strengths as an artist, becoming a part of theirs."

Giving Gifts Versus Sharing

Listen to "Giving Gifts Versus Sharing" on Spreaker. I've struggled with this my entire life. Giving gifts versus sharing. This is a tough subject! There's a difference between the two walks. It's not just a Southern thing. We all enjoy opening people's hearts with the tiny or big items we buy. Sometimes it's out of kindness, respect, a reward for hard work or we leap into that huge hole of just wanting to be accepted. We gift others so much and for every occasion that it's become lost as to why we've given. My wife endlessly tells me not to visit someone empty handed. With so many exchanges underway the act of giving has led to a new age of re-gifting. Here's where my heart is. What are you doing with the gifts God is giving or has given you? This is a dark spot on a very bright day because the art and it's multiple steps and mediums placed upon my path have been plentiful. Wait! I'm not alone here. With only twenty four hours in each day the journey as a creative has forced a lot of my art into silence. It's become an overcrowded lane of rush hour traffic. If you hand the inspiration and experiences invited by creative energy to another... Isn't it re-gifting? How do we utilize its presence a different way? Knowing how we gift shouldn't we also be sharing? An unused gift from God is no different than tossing it into the trash. Nobody saw you hide it under those layers of other unwanted things. Adopting the sharing approach to all things has brought less struggle and more reason to keep learning. My broadcasting lectures aren't gifts freely handed out. It's my mantra or mission to share the art. I used to stand in front of large groups of people and shout, "I want you to steal my art!" I got burned badly. Takers don't respect the moment only the glory of knowing they own it. Stop telling people you've got to buy a gift for a good friend or coworker. Start sharing things. When you share, it actually feels like its a piece of you that's now a part of them. If it ends up at Goodwill or on the re-gifting table know in your heart that it was shared and not given. We'll put focus on the success of relinquishing a different day.

Stop The Beaver

Listen to "Stop The Beaver" on Spreaker. I'm celebrating my 24th year of daily writing. So grateful for the trees that sacrificed their roots for me to tap into the invisible voices coming from the head and heart. After all these chapters have I learned anything? Not really. The best move was to remove the microphone from their hands. We all have fear, doubt, shame and guilt. Once those layers begin setting in you're like a tree limb weighed down not by a daily writer but vines from a past you can't change. We can try and rewrite the layout of events but ultimately your heart knows the bigger truth. How do you locate the strength required to bypass the chiseled sounds of a speaker unseen by those that make up your path and yet you hear them clear as a bell. Removing that microphone and putting it back in your hands is a tough journey to create. Meditation seems like a Holy Grail answer until you realize that one minute into the practice your brain is already thinking about things. Grrrr! Talk to your toes. Know how your body speaks to you. Not the voices in the head and heart. The body! While walking with Jazzie the rescue puppy I openly speak my Intentions for the day. Hearing your outer voice say the Intentions wakes up your senses. Create affirmations by listening to the moment. Your body already knows the daily hell you go through. You don't have to remind it. Listen to the body as thoughts are generated. Don't try to be Lennon and McCartney. Be yourself. Gift that self with a giggle or two when jumbled up words actually make sense. Today you are talking to your toes. It opens your path to mind blowing self forgiveness.

Andrew Shaffer

Listen to "Andrew Shaffer Releases Hope Never Dies" on Spreaker. It’s a few months after the 2016 presidential election, and former VP Joe Biden is lost. For a man who spent his entire career serving his country, life post–White House has lost its luster. While Joe putters around his home in Wilmington, Delaware, his former political partner-in-crime is soaking up the good life, hanging out with the likes of Richard Branson and Bradley Cooper. Joe knows he’s not cut out for kitesurfing and base jumping, but he misses his old friend. Then, just as Joe is about to throw himself a pity party, a familiar face appears in a haze of cigarette smoke. Barack has come with some solemn news: Joe’s favorite Amtrak conductor, Finn Donnelly, has died in a suspicious accident. The news strikes Joe hard. Donnelly was the conductor he saw every day while riding the train between Wilmington and Capitol Hill. He was a family man, and came from a long line of railroad workers. But what’s even more puzzling is the news Obama delivers next: on Donnelly’s desk, the police found a piece of a map leading straight to Biden’s house. Was Donnelly trying to reach out? And how did such a careful guy get struck by an Acela? Joe knows there’s more to the story than meets the eye. He promises Donnelly’s daughter he’ll find out what really happened, and a Biden always keeps a promise. But Joe is a private citizen now—what can he do? That’s when the Obama/Biden mission begins. Filled with a familiar desire to serve and Barack by his side, Joe is determined to uncover the truth. Along the way, he and POTUS 44 find themselves traversing the darkest corners of Delaware, searching for evidence in run-down motels, confronting a dangerous biker gang, hanging off an Amtrak train, and uncovering a conspiracy that’s advancing America’s opioid epidemic. No-nonsense Joe is not taking anyone’s malarkey. And he won’t stop until justice is served.

Lawrence O'Donnell

Listen to "Lawrence O'Donnell Re-releases Deadly Force" on Spreaker. DEADLY FORCE: A Police Shooting and My Family's Search for the Truth by Lawrence O'Donnell (including a new preface and afterword). Originally published in 1983, this crucial story from the host of MSNBC's The Last Word chronicles the 1975 police shooting of an unarmed black man in Boston-one of the first to draw national headlines-and the dramatic investigation and court case that followed. Tragically, the events O'Donnell recounts in this book remain far too common today, with police killings of unarmed black men-from Michael Brown, to Eric Garner, to Laquan McDonald, to the hundreds of other similar cases that happen every year in the U.S. On a rainy winter night, James Bowden, Jr. left his mother's house in Roxbury after a visit. As he guided his Buick out of his parking spot, an unmarked police car suddenly blocked his path. Two undercover officers sprang out, running toward his car. Shots were fired, and Bowden slumped over the wheel. Moments later, he was pronounced dead on arrival at a nearby hospital. The police argued that they had fired in self-defense, claiming that Bowden was an armed robbery suspect and that after they had ordered him to stop, he had fired a shot at one of them. And multiple internal investigations by the Boston Police Department exonerated the officers involved. But Patricia Bowden, James's widow, knew better. "The truth will come out," she said at her husband's funeral. She sought a lawyer willing to take on the Boston Police Department and finally found one in Lawrence F. O'Donnell, the author's father, a man whose past, unbeknownst to Patricia Bowden, made him the only lawyer in town who could not refuse her case. O'Donnell embarked on a highly contentious three-year battle with the Boston Police Department to win justice for James Bowden. DEADLY FORCE is a powerful indictment of police misconduct, a reminder of this issue's long, tortured history, and an illustration of how far we still have to go.

The Lyrics From Billy's Forest Chapter 115

Listen to "The Lyrics From Billys Forest Chapter 115" on Spreaker. We hear a lot of talk about disconnecting. Getting away from the weekend versus disconnecting from one time working relationships aren't the same. Friends disconnect more than connect. What you think you once had is now part of that conversation, "Oh we went our own separate ways." Lebron James has helped teach this nation how disconnection is the advantage. It's not about anybody but himself. Ouch! The reality of how we work and play is always based on who were are surrounding our choices with. If it doesn't suit the moment then a disconnection must be made. There used to be a time when having a word or two served as a great way to help shape the stone that becomes the statue. A great idea these days is about super serving the moment. Society won't let creative minds and leaders rely on their talent but rather their ability to disconnect without having human feelings. You can hear it in the way we talk with each other. Chosen are the words and expressions that put importance on the moment. If you come back in ten minutes someone else has convinced the other to make a different move therefore a disconnection from the original idea is made and the relationship is over. I call that Bend Me Shape Me. If you're carrying any type of luggage you're going to have an extremely difficult time being picked up again. Study the act of disconnection and put into play the requirement of accepting more than rejecting. A lot of success is being lost because everybody wants to be an instant star.

Shana Mangatal

Listen to "Shana Mangatal Remembers Joe Jackson" on Spreaker. Michael Jackson continues to fascinate the world. Shana Mangatal was one of Jackson’s constant and true rocks of stability for nearly two decades. Sometimes strange, sometimes surprising, always fascinating, this is the story that Jackson fans have been waiting for. Michael and Me entertains and inspires, but above all, Shana continues to treat Michael (and his legacy) with respect. This is not an exploitative tell-all but rather a book that shows the side of Michael people never knew. In it, Shana paints a more intimate picture of this beloved yet very misunderstood man. In this conversation Shana opens her heart about her experiences with one of the most creative men in music. The very man that brought his sons forward into a world waiting to be inspired by the sounds and vibrations of music that would become our soundtrack and more. Mr. Joe Jackson. God Moving Through You Should It Be More Magical

Listen to "God Moving Through You Should It Be More Magical" on Spreaker. I never know what I'm going to write about when I sit down in the moments before the huge lights above click off and the Worship Band begins. The other day a note from my sister in Montana flooded my soul. She openly admitted, "I wish I could be more like you. To live life and not be stuck in a place where the only thing God wants from me is to take care of people." I've spent a long time talking with and reading about Caregivers. I love and respect the beauty of their hearts and the tremendous struggles each of them face by the minute. So I asked the Great Creator, "Can your miracles could be a little more magical?" In some circles those are fighting words. How dare I bring up such a subject! Everyday God moves through us and through faults of our own we don't recognize the endless shapes of his everlasting. I get it. I also see how the map maker is working through my sister and know exactly what she has done with everything she's faced and continues to invite into her loving soul. But how many Caretakers truly see the miracle of Christ moving through them? I can't imagine the doubt, fear, shame and guilt that floods their visions because they too would like to hit the movie, have dinner out or just sit on the sofa and watch TV without having to bump up against more troubles brought on by those God called you to council and help heal. Each of us serve the greater glory but do you know how? Non-believers to those in question aren't left out in the rain. The God I serve knows every language without having to create something magical. Remove the rocks from your stream and let there be flow.

Evel Live is an unprecedented three-hour live event happening Sunday, July 8, at 8PM ET (5PM PT) and is part of HISTORY'S second annual car week. American professional motorsports star Travis Pastrana will honor legendary daredevil Evel Knievel by attempting three of his most dangerous feats in Las Vegas, Nevada, all while riding a modern day recreation inspired by the motorcycle Knievel used. These stunts include: breaking Knievel’s record jump over the length of 52 cars, another record-breaking jump over 16 full size buses, and aiming to make history as the first person to successfully jump the Caesars Palace fountain on a bike similar to the one Knievel used 50 years ago – an attempt that ended with a crash that left Knievel grasping for life. If Pastrana rides away from all three, he will be the only person to successfully beat two of Knievel’s distance records and land a jump over the fountain on a v-twin motorcycle. All of this will happen in the span of just three hours, and HISTORY will capture every exhilarating, nerve-wracking moment live. Alongside the three epic jumps will be live interviews with Knievel and Pastrana family members, archival footage of the history behind Knievel’s many daring jumps, and expert analysis. Elyssa Friedland

Listen to "Elyssa Friedland Releases The Intermission" on Spreaker. Would you walk away from your marriage in order to save it? That is the provocative question at the heart of acclaimed author Elyssa Friedland’s highly anticipated second novel, THE INTERMISSION, an irresistible and incisive portrait of a marriage at a crossroads, told from the perspectives of the husband and wife—each with something to hide. After five long years, the unshakable confidence Cass Coyne felt as a bride is gone. Her husband, Jonathan, on the other hand, is still smitten. It’s true that the quirks he once found charming in his wife–her high standards, her refusal to clean the dishes–are beginning to grate. But for him, these are minor challenges in a healthy relationship. So it comes as a complete shock to Jonathan when Cass suddenly requests a marital “intermission”: a six-month separation during which they’ll decide if the comfortable life they’ve built is still the one they both want. What ensues is a tightly-wrought “he said, she said” account of their relationship as the couple lives separate lives on opposite coasts, reuniting once a month for an elaborate custody swap of their beloved dog. But as the months pass, they begin to see that calculated silences just like these have helped to drive them apart–and that it may finally be time to confront the blistering secrets they’ve been avoiding. THE INTERMISSION is a poignant examination of the challenges and compromises of a shared life and a deeply moving exploration of the secrets we keep from those we love most. Fans of Liane Moriarty will be drawn to its themes of trust, intimacy, and skeletons in the closet, while its references to gender and power dynamics in Hollywood are both captivating and timely.

The Lyrics From Billy's Forest Chapter 114

Listen to "The Lyrics From Billys Forest Chapter 114" on Spreaker. Too many times we get caught up in conversations with coworkers and friends that seem to lean hard on how others treat them. Even my father would complain about how decision makers and worker bees endlessly took from him. He felt abused by the system of leadership and those that follow. When we enter those moments of exchange is it truly taking? We all knew what the snake was when we picked it up. Why should any of us feel shocked as to who what and why something is no longer within the grips of our finger tips? The dull ache is what feeds so many away from the center of a very good thing. What once seemed productive and constant eventually eroded due to that burning invisible pain of people taking things away. It's not always what you were hired to bring forward but rather the extra hours put in to help relieve someone of their stress and questions. To build upon the trails and trials of trying to extend the invitation of one day holding a position of decisions being observed and laid out by your own experiences. It doesn't always work that way. Your knowledge in this present state is free. The cost of consulting is an expense most don't want to take on so businesses rely on personal experiences to help build their platforms. Don't get caught up in that game. Your job interviews should be focused only on the position they have open. Stay away from lending your past performances to their growing needs. It doesn't make you more valuable only vulnerable. Then this thought hit me. Being a Christian I realize in all things I have lived and continue to receive none of this belongs or has ever belonged to me. I heard in my heart this morning, "I put that fruit on your vine so others can grow as you have grown. It was given to you so others can take." A very difficult place to stand. Is your talent up for grabs? Are you holding the door open for others to pass you by? If that's how it feels are you being selfish with these horrid feelings of not wanting to easily give up your knowledge? Is it ok to be protective or should the fields that which we mend and fill with seeds be the source of energy for others to find their own faith and success?

David Sanger

Listen to "David Sanger Releases The Perfect Weapon" on Spreaker. In THE PERFECT WEAPON, New York Times national security correspondent David Sanger traces the escalation of cyberwarfare, and explores how wars can now be won-or lost-without a shot being fired. For seventy years, the thinking inside the Pentagon was that only nations with nuclear weapons could threaten America's existence. But that assumption is now in doubt: in a world in which almost everything is interconnected-phones, cars, electrical grids, and satellites-everything can be disrupted, if not destroyed. In THE PERFECT WEAPON (on sale June 19), New York Times national security correspondent and bestselling author David Sanger vividly details how this new revolution, being conducted largely in secret, is reshaping global power. "Cyberweapons are so cheap to develop and so easy to hide that they have proven irresistible for large and small powers alike," Sanger writes. "Because such attacks rarely leave smoking ruins, Washington remains befuddled about how to respond. Our adversaries have realized that it's a great way to undercut us without being made to pay any real price for such actions." Focusing largely on the "Seven Sisters" of cyber conflict-the United States, Russia, China, Britain, Iran, Israel, and North Korea-THE PERFECT WEAPON is the dramatic story of how cyber conflict has expanded since the revelation of the American/Israeli attacks on Iran's nuclear program. Sanger exposed the story of Washington's role in those attacks six years ago, in his book CONFRONT AND CONCEAL. Now he explores how great and small powers alike have moved into a new era of constant sabotage, misinformation, and fear, in which everyone is a target. A decade ago, there were three or four nations with effective cyber forces; now there are more than thirty. As of early 2018, the best estimates suggest there have been upward of two hundred state-on-state cyberattacks over the past decade or so-a figure that describes only those that have become public. Yet as the global cyber conflict took off, America turned out to be remarkably unprepared. Its own weapons were stolen from the American arsenal by a group called Shadow Brokers and were quickly turned against the United States and its allies. Even while the United States built up a powerful new Cyber Command, it had no doctrine for how to use it. Deterrence failed. When under attack-by Russia, China, Iran or North Korea-the government was often paralyzed, unable to use cyberweapons when America's voting system, its electrical system, and even routers in citizens' homes had been infiltrated by foreign hackers. American citizens, Sanger concludes, have become the collateral damage in a war being fought in foreign computer networks and along undersea cables.

Remove Your Fake Self

Listen to "Removing Your Fake Self" on Spreaker. Too often I've been accused of being way overboard positive. It truly is the way I live. For some sick reason the higher power has gifted the trails carved into the mountain with this ability to look at doubt, fear and shame and give it a different face. Two years ago I questioned that attitude. In my daily writing the question was brought up, "If someone screams out you're the man or you rock! You instantly label them fake. Why then when writing don't you do the same when putting words on paper during the presence of a storm or new season?" It's a very transparent question! Why is it easy to spot the fake motivators on the outside but I refuse to see the fake inspiration planted on my personal paths of choice? Dealing with it daily doesn't qualify me to be a professional. Because I am familiar with my mindsets and patterns I'm able to head the monster off at the pass. In doing so the decision to fake the emotion does in fact inspire the next decision to be that of less weight and drama. Getting around it requires a deeply dug in relationship with the inner core of thinking versus the hard working dedicated family guy and employee on the outside. I'm not afraid to let both sides of my personality work it out. If you were to read the daily writing you'd think I was interviewing a Rock Star or actor. The questions are genuine in the way that accountability meeting actuality. I'm not fake with the replies either side delivers. It challenges the indifference to be more open to acceptance which allows the multiple layers to be seen differently by way of accepting things more openly and compassionately. Friends and family members aren't always the best place to run to while being challenged. You've been living this life how long? Your personal experience is thicker than a book. I'm not saying to stay free of great local friends on the outside. I just believe a conversation with your inner and outer self goes a very long way. Stop ignoring those voices in your head and heart. Listen to them with love while being strong in discipline.
