Visibility Matters

Listen to "Visibility Matters" on Spreaker. August 27, 2021 Visibility. Being present when the entire picture presents the story. How often do we rewrite the beginning middle and end? To stay away from a moment playing out because it doesn’t fit into what we see fit. Dictionary.com defines visibility as the distance once can see as determined by light and weather conditions. No wonder people hate having a nightmare! The sun sets and the fear begins to build. I live in a forest. I’ve had an incredible relationship with this collection of trees for 29 years. I’ve never walked through this forest at night. Even with a flashlight I have limited visibility. Not going to happen. As a third degree black belt in martial arts we aren’t trained to attack the enemy but rather to steer clear of the possible danger. I am to be aware of all things around me. How many of us truly trust what we can’t see in darkness? The decision is to stay away from doubt. Once we enter an area where we can see again, the main mission is to stay with what we know. So yes I do rewrite the beginning middle and end. I don’t find favor in having a lack of visibility. Awareness is the needle in the haystack.

The Spirit Of Release

Listen to "The Spirit Of Release" on Spreaker. August 26, 2021 To put words on a page requires a physical act of trust. To believe in the spirit of expression. To allow the art of self to have enough air to breathe. The best part about being a writer is the process of release. You can feel it leaving you like water flowing through a stream. Drop the microphone I’m out of here. Seriously, I don’t understand why people don’t write. Does that make me bias? We spend hours texting, posting on social media and hitting fast forward on the remote control. To put words on a page requires just as much energy as having a verbal conversation. The flow of thought feels best when it’s being released. Daily writing raises my blood pressure. My doctor agrees. He laughed about it and calmly asked for me to not write before visiting. The emotion required to push ink into a page is a disciplined strength that’s called upon just to release a thought. I often wonder about the Tom Clancy’s of the world. What do they mentally go through to bring their paragraphs forward? What does it take to create a thought that will reach beyond the page? Will we come back one day and vibrantly question the moment, “What was I thinking?” The essence of being present is a choice based on the acceptance of what is now. You have to define the system of existence. Remind your creative spirit that you are here. Let it have the energy and fuel of trust and faith to evolve into a series of steps moving forward. Now document it. Put words on a page. Make it a physical act of trust knowing that the best part about writing is releasing it.

Evolving Evolution

Listen to "Evolving Evolution" on Spreaker. August 25, 2021 Evolving evolution. I recently used this term during a lecture. The head of the organization gave me the weirded oddest look. As if to question my choice to use it. Evolving evolution. I’m not so crazy. While evolution is looked upon as being a great discovery in the world of science, those who study it are perfectly clear about how it evolves. Change is every day! Look at how we have evolved over the past nineteen months. The way we fear has evolved. The way we accept good and bad news has evolved. The way we react with people we don’t see eye to eye with has evolved. Too many see evolution as monkey becoming man. There’s an evolution in the world of business. What will happen when employees decide not to come back to the office? Putting their private lives way ahead of the decision maker’s visions. The best of the best have been threatened. They will be replaced. Does that mean all things business will be equal to an outlet mall? It’s not the greatest but it’s still us. How we did radio in 1981 versus 2021 is an evolving evolution of experiences that incoming broadcasters can’t comprehend. Nor do they have the mindset and or perseverance to digest what was expected forty years ago. So the question remains. From your dot on the map. What is your personal evolving evolution? How have you changed and how is it going to affect all things in the decades ahead?

The Lyrics From Billy's Forest Chapter 260

Listen to "The Lyrics From Billys Forest Chapter 260" on Spreaker. August 24, 2021 The glory of what this forest offers is such an incredible struggle to put into words. The umbrella above is that of very long tree limbs blessed with a colorful array of springtime green. The sunlight is a huge role player upon this canvas so bright. The rays of light that add to what looks to be a glow on the forest floor. And is that the message? Too often we want all the light. Instead of sharing it we move to locate more than what we can handle. The same is true about the spring breeze. The upper tops of the trees dance with nature’s music but I’m not seeing the long tall grasses near the slow moving stream dance to the same beat. A great place for hiding. Which is what so many of us do. When we don’t want to be empowered by the light, the choice is to stay free of the winds of change. We duck behind objects of comfort. But are they and have they changed? Once inside we can’t see why we were invited to that source of protection. We choose to go within knowing that for a moment we are in control of the presence of now. There’s a lot of digest here. Because we see ourselves in both places. The tops of trees dancing with natures beat while struggling with today’s headlines in the tall grasses nestling the slow moving stream. It almost feels like there’s no in between. Life still exists in the middle. For many we’re either on top or on the bottom. Being in the center means what? What does it represent on your path? The middle. Going up or falling down. Personally in this forest that which I spend so much time writing about, I see more life in the middle than any other place. From the owls to the squirrels, the climbing rose vine needing only so much light. The one thing we almost never speak of while staring at the middle of the trees is the horizon. The places where dreams become a reality. Being on top keeps you from falling witness to the growth of all living things. Hiding in the long grasses nestling the slow moving stream blocks the view. The glory of what this forest offers is such an incredible struggle to put into words. Now picture yourself as a forest.

Stream Thinking It's Not Stealing If I Give It To You

Listen to "Stream Thinking Its Not Stealing If I Give It To You" on Spreaker. August 23, 2021 The power of thought. So often it leaves us completely weak with no ambition to strive. Why then do we gamble with thought? To hear an idea and invest in a resource of energy. Only to decrease rather than increase. I happen to think too much. I cherish people who aren’t afraid to be bias. The texture is mind blowing. Yet I’ve learned the hard way to keep my speaking voice clear of other people’s ears. Which is why I journal. Not just once a day. All day. My mother would say “You’re gonna go blind.” I rely on the purity of thought to empower the path and not the past. Let’s be clear. 99.9999% of what I write never makes it beyond that source of thought. It’s not needed in this moment of now. It’s tossed onto that page for future use. It may take 15 years to get back to it. It doesn’t matter. I invest in thinking. We have to stop being a wandering generation and put focus on the importance of being different. I can’t stand people who are like me. There’s no room for it. How can we grow if all we say is, “Yeah. I can relate.” The power of thought. Take it! Run with it. Fail or gain steam. Thoughts are designed to bring things forward. With that in mind, get your head out of your past. Those thoughts carry no weight. It’s a total waste of time to live in a period of your journey that brought you unrest. Find your peace in what is now. My thoughts on all of this? Steal my art. In doing so locate the guts and courage to process the expectation of having the ability to stop hiding your presence. Be seen and let the image in the mirror know its being heard.

Unplugged and Totally Uncut August 20th

He calls this a brilliant example of the right people in the right place. Ryan also loves The Night House because its unique and about secrets. But do you want to truly know? Nine Perfect Strangers with Nicole Kidman is the absolute hottest binge watch on television right now. The cast is through the room brilliant and the story outshines everything. And finally Annette seemed to be the one movie the entire planet was loving until it was released. Ryan its the worst. It's a musical with all the wrong music. See it on Amazon. 10am post https://www.spreaker.com/episode/46171397 The book critics are loving Mona At Sea from Elizabeth Gonzalez James. “Mona at Sea is a portrait of a moment…I found myself immediately swept into the luscious prose, thought-provoking dialogue, and textured world of these characters who are both meaty and mysterious. It's a stunning debut from a great talent.” 1pm post https://www.spreaker.com/episode/46171730 Doug Cosmo Clifford is most famous for being the beats behind Creedence Clearwater Revival. The Movie Role

Listen to "The Movie Role" on Spreaker. August 20, 2021 The disappearance of your personal path. The childhood wish. The young adult ambition. The college education and the years spent shaking hands and kissing babies at backyard BBQ’s. All in the name of this was your calling. Now gone. Every step no longer carries the weight of I am. It’s all been replaced by a new position based on a modern mode of survival. This isn’t me writing about me. This is me listening to you. As we leap back into this mask mandate with the fear of Covid hitting us stronger this time, I’m still on the front line and you’ve got a lot on your mind. What’s your story? All that you invested in is no longer carried by way of holding onto value. Sporting a pair of shoes labeled I used to be. The act or need of a gonna be still sits on the sidelines because nobody knows when the new normal will physically unwind. We’ve been set inside a circle with new people, a new set of rules and a new layer of drama while still facing yesterday’s storms. This is who we are but do we know where we are? The disappearance of your personal path. I write because it gives me sight. When was the last time you had a real conversation with yourself? I’ve yet to see a rule book that forbids you from standing in front of a bathroom mirror sharing a conversation with the image that will soon appear in public. Where are you? Showing up starts with self.

Just Be Normal

Listen to "Just Be Normal" on Spreaker. August 19, 2021 Here we are. There we were. What’s your choice? Do we even think about the uncertain future? This isn’t a dull picture or painting! The goal is to build up the richness of the situation. The presence of where we are so that early corrections can be easily accessed. That’s where we need the attention. But do we move too early? A good example takes place during a lull in the workplace day. Instantly we label it a depression. The times aren’t perfect, the people aren’t part of my team, everything feels like a failure therefore I must be in a depression. Whoa! Back it down a bit. We’re all in love and completely addicted to the good and great times. The second something doesn’t feel right we’re quick to bail. Look at the enormous amount of people who are going to work then from out of nowhere disappear off the radar. The out of control pressure placed upon employees isn’t the effect of an overbearing boss but rather team players who saw an open door and took off. How are the rest of us supposed to heal the moment? Tune it into the moment by expecting no two days the same. Be accountable. Hold yourself up by utilizing the balance that your inner core provides. A team player came up to me with an evaluation of her life, “I thought I was an extrovert. I don’t think that’s true. All I want to do is stay home and do nothing. I now look at myself as being an introvert.” Is that where we are? Not just the redesigning of our workday but redefining who we think we’ve become. It became my choice to reply, “No day passes that I don’t feel the same but I don’t let it keep me away from our guests and customers. Think of yourself as an actor. Being here is a role in a movie. When you feel a moment of wanting to quit ask the actor if quitting is part of the story. The actor can be anybody you want them to be. Becoming that actor will free you from everything. Being an introvert is no different than someone saying they have writers block. In this moment of now there isn’t silence. You have told yourself that you suck. The actor in you turns that judgement call into a different scene. Don’t quit yourself. Be the lead actor in your movie.”

The Lyrics From Billy's Forest 259

Listen to "The Lyrics From Billys Forest Chapter 259" on Spreaker. August 18, 2021 The forest here in South Charlotte, NC is quiet this new sun. Lit up in springtime green. It acts as if I’m supposed to be reaching within its peace. What’s here waiting for me? I can’t rely on memories. I’m dedicated to being present in the now. To think of the 29 year old relationship with this forest removes the ray of new light from the avenues of personal growth. As a reader, such poetic thought probably belongs in a greeting card. My grandmother would say, “That’s nice. Keep writing. One day something will feel right.” The little things are where most of us grow in personal strength. Those unexpected moments of unperfected attempts at allowing yourself to be better without hiding behind judgement. As we work our way back into a business world with thick morning traffic, overflowing performance meetings and quick bites of food with friends on city streets, the truth is, we’re coming back holding onto a lot of memories. The way it used to be doesn’t exist anymore. Shifting your thought process toward the way it is now keeps your heart in the game. There is change in my forest every day. On May 8, 2021 I wrote about the long grass near the slow paced stream returning to its vibrant appearance, almost velvet like, a layer of smooth green. Yesterday, it was a different story. Tropical storm Fred ripped up the forest floor like shag carpeting. New growth is where tomorrow arrives. The weight of a memory keeps you locked in a windowless room. September 2021 will always be remembered as the moment kids went back to school and the big boys of business commanded their forces to get back in the driver’s seat. Keeping free of the way it used to be is your best decision. Live in your now. Mindfully be present.

Stream Thinking: Once Were

Listen to "Stream Thinking Once Were" on Spreaker. August 17, 2021 I was stopped the other day by an MOD. Manager On Duty, “Hey, what’s going on? You seem a little down. I depend on your upness to keep my team believing.” This isn’t a negative! I felt offended. Depending on my upness to keep your team believing? There are so many ways to lead and relying on my positive approach isn’t a firm step in a daily direction. Upness isn’t even a word! But I understood the moment and found myself gut checking the possibilities of there being a lull. It instantly reminded me of how we react when the smartphone captures a bad selfie. The eyes are screwed up, the smile is whacky and or your hair doesn’t come out in its true color. Caught in a lack of upness. Judged on it. Which is where so many people are today. Remote working is quickly becoming what we once did. Businesses are calling their herds back to the field. No matter what you think or believe your mindset will have to be what a decision maker envisions. Let’s make this clear. I’m not nor was I angry by the comment. It allowed me enough space to think about image. The presentation of the performance. One of my pet peeves is seeing a coworker with their arms crossed or their eyes glued to a smartphone. Mentally I lose it. My ambition drops five hundred feet. Could that have been that single moment when the Manager On Duty caught me without my upness? Guilty by way of continuation. The transferring of energy. Sadly, being naturally upbeat clogs my chapters of awareness. Fake happy can be attained but will they believe? You are on display in places designed by others. Is this the time to showcase feelings? Your upness is needed.

Chaos And Confusion

Listen to "Chaos And Confusion" on Spreaker. August 13, 2021 Confusion. Making the moment. Is it a choice or have you been called? Called meaning bosses and decision makers are deciding for you. To be here! There’s so much change and challenge that being here presents a different direction and point of view. I wish someone would look beyond the headlines of there being more job openings today than any other time in history. I’m thinking that’s the silent protest of not wanting to come back until the business world begins to respect those who create the true structure of success. Look at the way teachers are being told to bring out a new layout of lessons. I’ve not only read the mandate but I’m living it. A new layer of visions and decisions with not one person identifying the potential presence of the consequences. An entire nation is moving in this new location. And for what reason other than to brainwash an entire generation. Isn’t that what education is? To get inside the thinking process and program the mindset to participate with or remove yourself from. Have you seen the way students are doing math in 2021? I’m convinced Albert Einstein would be looked upon as being a distraction and not a genius. His bias behavior would be labeled an interference and because of his strength in the community he must be removed from a leadership role so that the newer methods of thinking can be worked into the process of rebuilding. Confusion. Making the moment. Are you in control or is it the post Covid sell out? I love hearing about there not being enough people to fill the jobs. Change the way you do business and include the rest of us in your plan of success. Willing is our way.

Award Versus Reward

Listen to "Award Versus Reward" on Spreaker. August 12, 2021 Award versus reward. Who’s getting what and why? Nobody likes the feeling of being part of a losing team. So people are endlessly given awards for just showing up. Look at what they’re doing to get people back to work! If you come with us we’ll give you _____. With so many offers available it’s difficult to like your job. Just go someplace else because the grass seems to be greener on that side of the fence. When it doesn’t work out. That’s ok! Just go get another job! Then another! Award versus reward. Acknowledging a person’s performance doesn’t require a trophy. There are many times the human compliment totally drives me insane. The way it’s said eventually means nothing. My pet peeve is, “I appreciate you.” Call a spade a spade. It’s not about having an appreciation. It’s meeting the expectation. Exceeding so that anyone with a decision making ability can keep their distance. Rewarding a person for something that’s not connected to a true accomplishment sells the soul of those making a pat on the back feel like a super bowl victory. Yes! The human needs to experience recognition. When you reward or award it wrong then the jokes on the receiver.

The Lyrics From Billy's Forest Chapter 258

Listen to "The Lyrics From Billys Forest Chapter 258" on Spreaker. August 10, 2021 Allowing the spirit of the forest inside your pattern of thought. The sunlight shines through the spring green leaves creating shadows in places building peace. It’s that energy that loosens the cluster of mental weight bogging down your natural process to think. The falcon soars high in this Carolina lit sky. It glides with the upper level winding. Diving in the air like a wild rollercoaster. Its shrieking voice puts me in a place of solitude. To know of the moment where the female dove didn’t move. She accepted us as part of her Mother Nature. The beauty of it all and yet it’s so difficult to mentally escape. To be present in a circle consumed by daily challenges and uncertain changes. The love this forest offers has to move through me. I can’t hoard the beauty of its ray of light. The daily goal should be a mission to remove the colorized fear, shame and guilt planted. Breathing in the new journey begins. But how do you get there? What happens when trusting the changes doesn’t meet personal command or demand? How dare anyone think they can let go of what they know in order to rebuild a path and or decision to grow greater rather than lesser? I’m amazed by sunlight and how it doesn’t dance around anything. It always has the strength to move through. So I ask, “What are you blocking and why?” No day passes that you aren’t someone’s needle in a haystack.

Stream Thinking: Ugly Shoes

Listen to "Stream Thinking Ugly Shoes" on Spreaker. August 9, 2021 Ugly pair of shoes. Oh Lord I have enough pair of ugly shoes. Each provide their fair share of comfort. I won’t toss them! I’d never wear them to a social event. But man, I love the look of an ugly pair of shoes. Ripped, faded and bent out of shape shoes. I usually wear them while walking my dog. My belief? Why waste valuable shoe time on a daily walk through the forest? I just grab my ugly shoes and off we go! A person of homelessness would turn these shoes down. Paint stains, foot stink and absolutely no real shape except for being amazingly ugly. I love them! It’s like a second skin. My inner hobo self doesn’t care what others think. I find comfort in something that wraps around me. Is it something I picked up as a kid growing up in Montana? The mud in that state is thick and sticky. Taking care of the animals meant putting on a pair of shoes that didn’t mind being destroyed by the planet. Out there with the rabbits, chickens and pet pigeons in a pair of ugly shoes. Sorta reminds me of our present place in history. We’re all animals sitting inside an ongoing pandemic bathed with unpredictable lawmakers struggling business leaders and the average everyday person. I’m gonna wear my ugly ass shoes.

Stream Thinking: Griping

Listen to "Stream Thinking Griping" on Spreaker. August 5, 2021 What this can’t become is my place to gripe. I don’t have it in me. Somewhere I’d end up turning it into a mismatched moment of daily exercises and use it to locate answers to questions. Oh we have opinions! Every person on the planet receives them every day. At fifty nine though I find myself not wanting to waste the energy on a verbal conversation that’ll go nowhere. Most of what I want to say is left on a page. But this place cannot become a platform to put grip in the gripe. Will it make Covid go away? No. Will it easy up on the flying insects driving you insane? No. Then there’s no reason to sink fuel in the veins of the human gripe. Remind yourself how the rays of light that which ignite our paths are constantly shown shadows that endlessly bend in every direction. What will you have to show for your moment of gripe? Remove it from your scene. Learn to be seen in the eyes of solutions and not the rock that blocks the flow of performance.
