Aware Of Your Suckness

Listen to "Creating A Connection With Accomplishment" on Spreaker. September 29, 2021 Putting fuel into the writing instrument. Undeveloped thoughts. A willingness to be activated. The words seem to be on a boat held up in a tiny port. Funny how life tends to locate blockages. To stand at the base and do nothing but stare into the several levels of emptiness. This is a pretty heavy adventure this new day. I’m having a difficult time writing! The third sentence says it all. A willingness to be activated. When you can’t write. Write about having a difficult time writing. When you can’t sing or act then sing and act. It’s ok to accept that you suck! Sucking at something is brilliant growth. Your awareness knows of the struggle and through the attempts made by being willing there is progress. Locate your creative strength. Taking note of the present and not where your feet were once planted. To check in means to clear your mind. What must be done? Putting fuel into the writing instrument. Willingness. To empower the moment. Letting go of the weight we carry. Today I can’t write. So I wrote about the difficulties of writing.

The Lyrics From Billy's Forest Chapter 264

Listen to "The Lyrics From Billys Forest Chapter 264" on Spreaker. September 28, 2021 Waking up with the forest. The hawks. Two are in vision. A calling inside these trees to wake up in peace. I’m amazed by the sounds the hawks are making. They want to be heard far ahead of all others things. In Native American Spirituality, when the hawk makes itself known to your presence the message is clear. You’re caught up in too much. Stay alert and become more focused. Pay close attention to your surroundings. Quit trying to change others. Over the past nineteen months our evolution has been that of unexpected change. We’ve all been newly reshaped. For many the goals and or missions have been to remain in strength. The hawk’s message is a huge reminder of what happens when the walls of the lockdown fell. Suddenly we got busy again. I took on new jobs while holding onto the others. Only to find myself yearning for that open space caused by the pandemic. And I often wonder if that’s not the reason why so many aren’t returning to their jobs and or are quitting. The change experienced has rebuilt the drive and desire to succeed. Because I’m a daily writer I’m able to go back and read of the struggles to put the new puzzle together. In doing so I realized how time was no longer a luxury but rather a forced entry. In the glory of being freed from the lockdown and with businesses reopening we chose to run toward the life we had before March 2020. Too big of a bite. My challenge to you is simple. Pay close attention to the animals near you. Not all of them but the one’s that seem to stick out the most. Google their spiritual connection. You’ll be amazed at how they are the stronger teacher in an age when we are the student.

Stream Thinking: Not A Fan Of Text Messages

Listen to "Stream Thinking Not A Fan Of Text Messages" on Spreaker. September 27, 2021 I’m a man of many faults and weaknesses. One of them being seriously disconnected from texting. I don’t enjoy reading or writing a text message. Especially if the conversation is excessively long or the subject involves several talk bubbles. I think it’s based on a lack of inflection. I see words but I’m not hearing them. My creative mind starts to make up the noise. If something doesn’t feel right I’m always going to react in ways the original author didn’t mean. It’s like my daily writing! Only I hear the intended message. A future reader might think of me as being a depressed angry aging man with every ambition to seize control of all things lonely. That’s so far from the truth. If this is how I feel about my personal writing adventures, then the goal should be to have physical conversations and not written words of assumption.

You Can't Turn It Off

Listen to "You Can't Turn It Off" on Spreaker. September 24, 2021 I heard a teacher this morning say these words, “You can’t turn it off.” I watched the video over and over. The entire message was based on how leaders of lessons taught are expected to be on 24/7. The part that hit me the hardest in the heart was when she explained how taking home school work kept her away family. She wasn’t in control of raising her children. You can’t turn it off. This is very close to me because of my wife’s connections to education and I lived this teacher lifestyle with her. Saying thank you to class room leaders isn’t enough. Teachers need helping hands physically and mentally. Not parents endlessly pointing fingers while throwing out false accusations. You can’t turn it off. When will the circle get tighter? The community raises the child but it’s only the teacher showing up. You can’t turn it off. You know what’s sad? The stories you aren’t hearing? Teacher’s who’ve located the off button. The numbers are rocking schools. Teachers aren’t the only ones. Employees in every business have located the same off button. I see it every day! People are hired. They take one good look at the expectation then walk away. We’re facing a mountain in education. How close are we to local decision maker’s agreeing to hire anyone willing to come to class and read from a book? You can’t turn it off. When we do the future is handed something much bigger than the mountain before us.

But What Is The Connection

Listen to "But What Is The Connection" on Spreaker. September 23, 2021 As a writer things move through us differently. Not everybody will admit to that. Mostly because writer’s tend to be selfish with their secrets of ability. No wonder so many choose not to write! Inspiration and influence on a page doesn’t have to come from just reading. Non-writers need to hear from those who do write. I’m presently on the corner of walk and don’t walk. The morning writer cannot be compared to the nighttime writer. Opposites! I think it’s because the morning writer is peacefully setting up the new day mindset. Whereas the nighttime writer is digging into the theory of spirits walking toward us. Basically meaning he’s not afraid to look into the eyes of the beast. Listen, we all have dark sides and know of our personal mood makers. Opposing the beast at five in the morning is a well-disciplined walk that’s been to hell and back before seven in the morning. While the nighttime writer finds strength in taking swipes at understanding the core of the source, the morning mission is to remain as far away as possible. I always tried to keep from writing in my published novels at night. I knew I’d kill off a character. Taking those writing chances without fearing the consequences. Knowing who your writing self is requires note taking. Creative minds walk away from storytelling because of a switch in moods. Then complain about how difficult it is to be a writer. It’s not if you know the multiple levels of writers that are begging to get out of you. Get to know your deeper source. Stand up to the beast when you feel most comfortable. It’s when you don’t let your creative energy have a place out here that the monster finds difficult to digest. Julia Cameron from the Artist Way says it best, “Your creative self is an inner child. Treat it as such. Listen to it. Create with it. Calm it. And say no to it when need be.”

Identifying That Place

Listen to "Identifying That Place" on Spreaker. September 22, 2021 I tend to write a lot at night. Very late at night. It looks more like scribbles than physical words. As of late the writing-self-challenge has been to locate that place. We all have a place. You know that place! When the sun starts to set mentally things about us begin to change and something from a different place begins to consume our presence. That place. As a writer I’m trying to identify it. To locate the trail. To understand the transitions. To document the reshaping of emotions. Many things are written about but the goal is to know the entire story. Creative people are guided by instinct, inner feelings, intuition and or what some easily write off as those voices. They have to come from somewhere! You know! That place! I think it’s easier to access at night because as long as there’s sunlight the strength of our guard is always up. Being mindful is one thing. Living mindful is another. It means knowing the right way to the source and it requires the awareness of being. Art moving forward is breathing. I use meditation to get to that place. It’s only been recently that the writer is wanting to paint the experience into physical form. Teaching yourself growth. Hearing the voice while recognizing its presence in your present.

The Lyrics From Billy's Forest Chapter 263

Listen to "The Lyrics From Billys Forest Chapter 263" on Spreaker. September 21, 2021 A newborn fawn greeted me in the forest this morning. Its eyes blessed with the most astounding emotion. Filled with the beauty of all things that shall become. I quickly looked around the forest for the mother. To my right maybe twenty five feet. She stood there waving her tall white tail as if to be asking, “Do you love my baby?” This forest. Wow. We met for the first time in November of 1992. I didn’t realize the power it would have in my heart growing forward. This gift today is part of the empowerment of the universe moving through you. Or as I put on social media: God in forward motion. My daily writing in this forest didn’t begin in 1992 but rather two years later. It’s all been documented! The replenishing of seventeen hundred trees to getting married in the forest to sitting down with my small fuzzy children while they took their final breath. My wow is a very tiny forest and after twenty nine years of connection I still can’t explain the calling. I do want to thank the baby fawn for such an amazing reminder of how life is about being in the present with a firm grip on sharing it with future travelers. So I ask, where is your wow? That place of connection, rebirth and understanding. Is it far into the mountains or sitting next to the waves stretching on shores? Where is your wow? Is it while writing, reading or simply staring at a wall with no photographs? Locating your wow. When you identify as such know in your heart it’ll always protect you.

Stream Thinking: Feed The Solution

Listen to "Stream Thinking Feed The Solution" on Spreaker. September 20, 2021 How do we know this isn’t a set up that’s being filmed? With all the reality shows on television and the billion Tik Tok shots spreading across the planet, when do we know this moment is about to become someone else’s laughter? I’m not convinced that people act awkward because of conditions but rather ambitions to gain access to another person’s shock and reaction. I face weird situations all the time. I don’t showcase any type of emotion. My goal is to always reach for a solution first. A father that runs up to me in customer service urgently needing attention because his daughter has urinated on the floor. I walk to the scene. Take note of the situation on the floor. The only thing abnormal is the puddle on the floor. The child didn’t look wet nor was there a diaper bag in the basket or in their arms. Hmmm. The mission was to clean it up. Solutions not reactions. I learned how to perfect this in martial arts. To clear the mind body and soul of anything that would stand in the way of making the best decision. The man who shouts at the top of his lungs about how he’s been offended and he’s a lawyer and needs names right now. Solutions not reactions. The guests that run into the store two minutes before closing. The outfits they wear are outrageously made for a Tik Tok video. Dogs labeled working that make messes on the floor. I don’t question nor do I get angry. The solution provides the best path to bring the situation to a peace filled conclusion. I do wonder though. Where are the cameras?

Discovery Not Recovery

Listen to "Discovery Not Recovery" on Spreaker. September 16, 2021 So many thoughts. Too many attempts. The value of the moment is always based on being aware of all things moving. I heard a quote from the new movie Dear Evan Hansen, “Soon this will be a moment from a very long long time ago.” What an amazing point of view. It touches several sides of your personal journey. There are multiple challenges and changes that take us to our knees and in time it’ll require distance to locate what still remains. Holding onto things for long periods of time is who we are. Regret and defeat have a way of weighing us down. Not just in the moment it was given life but in the decades that follow. The daily goal is to bask in a modern ray of life. Let new life grow where a fire has destroyed. I keep a de-frag journal. Not just taking notes but holding yourself accountable for the events of the present moment not yesterday or a year ago. It’s the art of letting go. Setting free. Lock your energy on being focused on discovery not recovery.

Filling Our Emptiness

Listen to "Filling Our Emptiness" on Spreaker. September 15, 2021 I’m a people watcher. Partly because of my radio background. Mainly because of the writer inside. I take note of the infamous creatures of habit. I’m seeing a lot of individuals dealing with trying to fill up their emptiness. It’s very evident. Being played out right there in front of us every day. Is there such a thing as being addicted to filling what we’ve labeled emptiness? Your heart, your house, your relationships with family and friends. Research shows that the attempt to escape emptiness is what causes addiction. So the focus isn’t on the attraction or self prescribed healing but rather the source of emptiness. One study shows that activating curiosity and compassion are a great start for filling what feels empty. Learning new things. Challenging yourself to extend your imagination. Then showing those around you by way of being compassionate. The key word is activation. We can talk about curiosity and compassion all day but it requires daily activation. Making the move means creating flow. Let’s look deeper into this. What happens when curiosity becomes your perseverance? It’s the only thing you do. I live by way of windows. My Google calendar is flooded with commitment. What isn’t filled is a window of time that can become an event or reason to sit in front of a wall and stare at a painting. My emptiness is filled with work. I’ve always been that way. I pick up work because I’m curious about how things are made and or sold. So I apply for a job. I want to know how things work not only on the floor but behind the curtain. How do you fill your emptiness? We’ve all got it. Understanding it is the challenge. Feeding your need leads your feet in directions you may no longer control. Start at the source. Identify the emptiness then activate curiosity and compassion. Keep your path free of other addictions that are caused by the great escape from emptiness.

The Lyrics From Billy's Forest Chapter 262

Listen to "The Lyrics From Billys Forest Chapter 262" on Spreaker. September 14, 2021 The doe are preparing for their early summer birth. Their tummies well rounded and they’re packing together like true family. It’s as if the yearlings and two year old’s are still learning. This week it’s about becoming a mother. The goal is to teach the newborns how to survive as well as hide. It’s as if they’re whispering, “We shall help keep this forest growing forward.” Which brings me to a point of thought; what are you doing in your everyday world to replenish your forest? It doesn’t have to be trees, rocks and the animal kingdom. Your forest could be New York City or a middle school classroom. I asked the question on my Daily Mess podcast, “Are there any more masters in the making?” Not sports heroes. Master’s in the making. Who is investing in tomorrow’s leaders? It has to come from those who are leading today. But to get to that point of direction the next question would be, “What have you mastered?” In martial arts we are trained to believe that nothing can be mastered unless it’s been done 100,000 times. While the doe in the forest were teaching the yearlings the facts of life, the masters of the forest have generations of deer before them to give them the skills to teach the fawn to hide. In the human business world we rely so much on multitasking that there’s physically no room to master your craft. You can be good at something but is it your birth given gift? I just had a conversation with Arthur Levine the author of The Great Upheaval. There’s a huge generation gap between physical students on campus and those learning online. How important is it to get students to give to their forests by way of trusting remote learning as a tool versus something you’re being forced to do? First graders are returning to remote learning. Without focus on education the learning curve suffers not just in their homes but how they’ll handle life when they do reach college age. I study the animals in my forest because it opens my heart to our true presence and weaknesses. Are there any more masters in the making? The craftsmanship of a birth given talent?

Stream Thinking: Invisible Seeds

Listen to "Stream Thinking Invisible Seeds" on Spreaker. September 13, 2021 The one good thing about the Covid 19 lockdown has been the reimaging of how grown men are wearing their hair. Be it on the face or on the head, it looks like long and wild are back to stay. Long hair is more than a Rock Star attitude. It’s a level of here I am and this is who I am. I understand fashion fads. I grew up in the age of Farrah Fawcett and Shawn Cassidy. Then bald became beautiful and every Rock Star to Movie Star embraced it. Until his Super Bowl appearance, I never saw Adam Levine of Maroon 5 as a Rock Star. For the love of God even Michael Bolton had long hair! My mindset about Adam changed when he showed of his body art. A lot of ink! Not my thing. I have six and I’m done. At my age any portrait on the skin will look like a sinking ship. In the end long hair is back and fully accepted. It is my signature. What’s yours? While studying Nidra meditation I was introduced to a different concept of digesting other people’s signatures. They call it invisible seeds. Who has planted their seeds in your field and its caused havoc? Many of today’s relationships barely last a year. We’re all changing so quickly that it’s become incredibly difficult to live by our own signature. We choose instead to settle for someone else’s invisible seeds knowing togetherness is like everything else in life. NFL. Not for long. Be aware of your invisible seeds and those planted by others. If you’re constantly getting caught in mood swings. Hmmm where did the seeds come from? Know your signature.

Predict Or To Not Predict

Listen to "Prediction Or No Prediction" on Spreaker. September 8, 2021 A growing thunderstorm is heard outside my writing window. Nature on the move. It’s path nearly predicted by man’s digital devices. Human emotion, what if it too could be studied and or predicted just like the weather? Would you run from the truth? Hide from the cure? Because of the actions and reactions of the past eighteen months, science is currently looking into a gel like substance that will inserted into your body to read and measure everything. The goal is to help prevent the next pandemic. They believe this gel will create an alert system allowing science to predict sickness. Would you allow such a gel to run freely through your body? Look at the number of people still not Covid 19 vaccinated. On a personal level, I use words as an indicator or predictor of my moods. As many times as I remind people that winning is a choice, it still doesn’t guarantee the system from having low or elevated mental moments. So I rely on journals to be the indicator of a storm. Nature is always on the move, especially in us. It’s what’s unseen and not talked about that catches us off guard. Building a relationship with what Julia Cameron calls the inner child allows you to develop a prediction system which allows your next steps and decisions to be strong on choice. While science continues to explore newer ideas on how to prevent a pandemic, the solo performer with so much digging away taking place on the inside needs to be on alert as well. A new study shows that we’ve all aged ten years since the start of the pandemic. Have you noticed the number of times you have to repeat yourself in a conversation? Research shows that we’re still in a mental lockdown state of mind. There’s so much going on around us that we are having a difficult time staying focused. Being away. Creating an alert system. Predicting where you’ll mentally be in an hour or later in the night. Growing thunderstorms…

The Lyrics From Billy's Forest Chapter 261

Listen to "The Lyrics From Billys Forest Chapter 261" on Spreaker. September 7, 2021 I’m not a visionary. I’m visualist. I hold onto the vision of what’s in my present and turn its aura into energy. There’s endless vibrations in the atmosphere. As a writer, a spiritualist and an animal speak believer, I am present to make a choice as to which direction the path shall grow. We spend a lot of time inside negative energy because too many incredible things have come from such an energy source. Comedians, musicians and authors will speak openly about their darkness becoming what moves people. When I sit in this forest, the sounds of nature pretend to be the daily same. For at no time has this forest ever been the same. And it’s extremely difficult not to remember the journey while relying on this choice to live in the presence of Now. I’ve yet to locate the strength to walk freely through the forest with a cleared heart and head. This collection of trees grabbed me by the nap of the neck at the age of 32 and has guided me into deeper expression and exploration for 29 years. Create energy for your art filled self by trusting what’s in front of you. A visualist. Dictionary.com doesn’t recognize it as a word. Make it one in your heart by spreading all ten fingers apart. Holding your hands in front of you/ Each of those fingers will naturally feel a rounded source of energy. Let it move through you. Pull it toward you and grow forward.

Stream Thinking: Taking On Respect

Listen to "Stream Thinking Taking On Respect" on Spreaker. September 6, 2021 A writing instrument that sits silent isn’t invested in the present. Therefore as creative minds we are to influence and empower the silent to become a voice. My father was bold enough to order his children like the soldiers he once led in Germany. This way of leading wouldn’t be respected during today’s working conditions. Respect means someone or something is greater than. Those days are no more. One look around the world and the physical act of respect is reason to cause dysfunction. It’s got to be about equal love, forgiveness, healing and growing. To show your respect means what? To many respect represents a side. You chose this side or that side. The lessons we learn in life shouldn’t be a trophy on the wall. We are to be handing things forward. Not handing out labels such as I appreciate you. We’ve become seekers of respect and appreciation. Just like we have to have those likes and hits on social media or we’re torn apart. Being grateful and mindful of all people doesn’t need a pat on the back. The word respect divides the playing field. A writing instrument that sits silent isn’t invested in the present. Therefore as creative minds we are to influence and empower the silent to become a voice. That’s being respectful without having to take or expect to receive. I don’t have a job. I have a choice. I own my decisions.

No Room

Listen to "No Room" on Spreaker. September 3, 2021 I think it’s funny. I ended my morning prayer. Pulled up my email and took note of a local church looking for a content manager. I chuckled. I knew in that moment that I don’t fit the look. Musicians move through the same experience. You have to look a certain way or go away. I’m not being a judger! I’ve applied for many positions at churches and having a love for Christ doesn’t come close to what they’re looking for. What I loved about this email was they called the position a member of our business. Wow! That’s new! I want to be interviewed by this group just to see how the evolution of church and business has become the everyday process. Somewhere along the lines of conversation I bomb at my church interviews. Is it my long hair? Is it the lack of holes in my jeans? I am for all people. Maybe that’s what gets in the way, “Son it’s about a collected people and we already have a front man.” The church needs a content manager. They have nine hours a week available. I create content. I make conversations move forward. Nine hours? I’ve spent forty two years in radio trying to get what I do inside a bottle designed for maybe fifteen hours. Listen, the funny part is how from out of nowhere this email appeared. It happened to make it to me the very second I came out of prayer. Was it God or the other side of the fence pretty much saying, “You’re still a loser!” Not a negative! Awareness is everything. Being called a loser is still the upper hand. They noticed me. It’s still God working next to you. If God wants you in a church it isn’t going to require a resume. You’ll be there because the command and calling were too much to set aside. Be present in your moment. Be alive in the spirit of others. Be you. Having a half shaved head with an untucked shirt with faded jeans doesn’t mean anything but the keeper of clothing that my father would’ve been disturbed by, “Hey! I bust my butt at that job for you not to look that way!” Thanks Dad for still living inside my dreams.

Sream Thinking: Causing Storms

Listen to "Stream Thinking Causing Storms" on Spreaker. September 2, 2021 I’m a stream thinker. A free form writer. The challenge is to spend ten minutes a day putting words on a page without going back to edit it. Being present in your place of now. Trusting the power of now. On the 28th of August I found it tough to believe that Covid was brought up on my podcast. I’ve made it a clear point to stay away from talking about it. Like politics, religion and abortion, anything dealing with Covid 19 is more than a Firestarter but a relationship destroyer. I posted the shocking news of Paul Stanley of KISS having been diagnosed. A radio program director to whom I’ve not shared a conversation with since 1993 did exactly what I knew would happen. His choice was to create an opinion. I had to respond! If you don’t say something that leads to ghosting. I reminded him that he was no longer my program director and to please give me a subject that he likes. I am a daily writer and writing is what I do. I don’t visit other people’s posts. I’m tired of the pictures and the one hundred reasons why you hate your job. There was a much deeper reason behind the Paul Stanley story. Rock with the shot gets Covid. I’ve never battled with anyone over the flu shot. Getting the Shingles shot has always created great conversation not war. There’s something very deep about this most recent walk through the pandemic. If I were standing next to my mother she’d be saying, “Mind your own business.” I knew the Paul Stanley story was going to pour fuel into an engine that isn’t turning off. Now to hear that Gene Simmons has been diagnosed is a continuing story. They took a chance to get back on that End of the Road Tour. Too close to the edge of reality.
