The Letdown

Listen to "The Letdown" on Spreaker. I'm often called a pessimist. I prepare for the odd ball twists and spins that may or may not lead to a wandering trail of unexpected letdowns. We were born to have them. Otherwise we'd have no problem getting what we want. So instead of being shocked by a letdown. I embrace the potential of there being. Awareness is key. Living in the present allows all things in the now to have an identity. Family, friends, coworkers and bosses tend to let us down maybe two or three times a week. Purchasing a present for someone usually leads to a letdown. Your heart painted a bigger more emotional picture during the time of exchange. My wife has gotten used to looking at me in the eye and saying, "Just say thank you." Sports fans worldwide are letdown day after day. I have a friend that loves to hear the cry of the fan whose team just can't get it together. What does your cry sound like when God doesn't give you what you had planned? Do the banners come off the walls? Do you stop activating relationships? Just a simple question not from a pessimist but a realist. Being aware of the potential of there being a letdown allows you to study the process of where you can quickly pick back up.

Jonathan Kauffman

Listen to "Jonathan Kauffman Hippie Food" on Spreaker. IACP and James Beard Award-winning food writer Jonathan Kauffman journeys back more than half a century in time to tell the story of how a coterie of unusual men and women embraced an alternative lifestyle that would ultimately change how modern Americans eat. A fusion of Tom Wolfe and Michael Pollan—and impeccably researched—HIPPIE FOOD: How Back-to-the-Landers, Longhairs, and Revolutionaries Changed the Way We Eat chronicles how the counterculture rejected the square establishment of President Richard Nixon’s America and turned to a more idealistic, communal way of life and food. From the mystical rock-and-roll cult known as the Source Family and its legendary vegetarian restaurant in Hollywood to the brown bread the Diggers baked in the Summer of Love to the rise of the co-op and the origins of organic food, Kauffman reveals how today’s quotidian wholefoods staples—including sprouts, tofu, yogurt, brown rice, and whole grain bread—became part of our diets. Visiting Oregon, Texas, Tennessee, Minnesota, Michigan, Massachusetts, Washington, and Vermont, Kauffman tracks hippie food’s journey from niche oddity to a cuisine eaten in every corner of this country. A slick mix of gonzo playfulness, evocative detail, skillful pacing, and elegant writing—HIPPIE FOOD is a lively, engaging, and informative read that deepens our understanding of our culture and our lives today.

Ally Ryan

Listen to "Ally Ryan Releases Wasted" on Spreaker. She openly admits that writing and producing her new song Wasted was a chance taker that's paying off in huge numbers. It's one of the first songs of the new year to cross several different genres. Ally Ryan's new EP totally takes listeners into a realm of great storytelling through writing with beats that raise the emotional stage to dance floor quality.

Transparent

Listen to "Transparent" on Spreaker. Yesterday, I did my typical afternoon writing. I call it defragging... I asked myself if there's ever been a time when being too transparent is an unsafe walk? It put me in a situation of wonder. What's worse? Someone being truthful or the flow of constant lies? Talk about being on the corner of walk and don't walk. Only to take note of how many books have been written about how leaders lie. Lisa See once wrote,"Model communes are the ones where leaders lie the best and biggest." How do you prepare your heart for that? Who do you learn to trust? It can no longer be based on the child inside reaching out to see if the stove is hot. You've already been burned. How then do we walk up to the very place where there was pain and cook lunch or dinner?

Jason Warrior

Listen to "rBeatz Music Update Jason Warrior On The Set Of The Four" on Spreaker. There truly isn't a singing competition like it. The Four on FOX puts singer songwriters in front of the unknown. Nobody knows who the next to sing is. And if they get past the panel the artist chooses who they'll vocal battle against. Jason Warrior openly admits that being in that unknowing situation puts a lot of pressure on the four waiting to be taken on.

April Diamond

Listen to "rBeatz Music Update April Diamond's Unafraid" on Spreaker. Singing for the first time in front of a large group of people is a shocking moment that most singer songwriters hold onto the entire journey. April Diamond was pulled out of the congregation at church by her grandmother and told "Sing." She didn't run. What she felt was a jolt of energy that influenced her to start participating with school plays and other shapes of music. April is on rBeatz Radio with the Dave Aude remix of Lose Control.

Zhavia

Listen to "Zhavia From The Four On FOX" on Spreaker. Funny is the amazing way so many creative paths reach out and touch each other. One such place is The Four on FOX. Brilliantly gifted men and women who happened to hear about a music competition unlike any other. Zhavia knows she's not like others. Rather than stay hidden from the platform she made the effort to push beyond the limitation. The payoff wasn't winning the challenge but rather the path after the four walls of a huge network look in different directions. Her journey is just getting started. Through us the paths have crossed.

Eclipsing painters and musicians, chefs have emerged as the world’s leading creative professionals—so there’s no better place to turn for insight into the creative process than the pages of the new book by two-time James Beard Award winners author Karen Page and photographer Andrew Dornenburg, creators of the beloved 400,000-copy bestseller The Flavor Bible, named one of the ten best cookbooks of the past century by Forbes. Kane Hodder

Listen to "Kane Hodder From Victor Crowley" on Spreaker. Kane Warren Hodder is an American actor and stuntman. Standing 6'3" (approximately 1.92 metres), he is best known for his acting in the Friday the 13th movies as the mass murderer Jason Voorhees. He is also the only actor to portray Jason more than once, in a total of 4 movies. Although he was offered to reprise the part of Jason Voorhees in the 2003 film Freddy vs. Jason, he was rejected by director Ronny Yu and replaced by 6'5 1/2" Canadian stunt man Ken Kirzinger. The switch controversy amongst fans of the series and has been credited to several rumours, including Kirzinger's location in Canada, and his height compared to Robert Englund, Freddy Krueger's portrayer (although Hodder is still taller than Englund). In the mid 1980's, Kane was performing a stunt that went awry, leaving him with 2nd degree burns on over 75% of his body. As such, Kane often wears gloves at horror conventions. He has the word "Kill!" tattooed on the back of his bottom lip.He is an avid poker player and often plays celebrity tournaments on hollywoodpoker.com.He spends time working with children in burn centers, and despite the roles he often plays, Hodder has often been described as a very friendly man, and loves to meet his fans. Hodder is starring in the film series as main character Victor Crowley, a physically deformed young boy who comes back from the dead to kill the people who invade the swamp in which he lives. This is similar to Jason Voorhees, who died as a young boy in a lake and came back from the dead to kill people who came to Camp Crystal Lake. The fourth film in the series, Victor Crowley, is scheduled to be released February 6th.

The Lyrics From Billy's Forest Chapter 94

Listen to "The Lyrics From Billys Forest Chapter 94" on Spreaker. I think we learn early on that brothers and sisters aren't truly wired to get along. Too often though what drove us crazy as kids actually creates a lifelong wedge. One week becomes twenty plus years. Through hardheadedness and or just ego we agree to disagree to live in peace without having to deal with each others weight. Pauly Shore talked about this a few years back and he was extremely serious and strong with his word when he said, "You need to fix this right now. Because there's going to come a day when the one thing that brings you back together is going to be an event with your parents. Now you have two huge situations to deal with and it's not going to be easy to suddenly forgive the first bad problem." Fixing a squabble is one thing. Forgetting and forgiving are newer chapters that don't really work unless the situation has been bravely and honestly put into play. This isn't just a brother and sister situation. Bickering and depth of judgement goes really deep with coworkers and bosses. Even within the ranks of friendship. There has to be a time in your nearby life where it's time to make that decision to make peace. Don't expect miracles because it took a long time to stay silent. Build upon the present by being in the moment the entire way. It's no longer about yesterday. You're in the game of creating tomorrow.

Anggun

Listen to "rBeatz Music Update Anggun Talks About Being Creative" on Spreaker. The beautiful mind a creative person carries with them comes in all shapes and sizes. Not everybody loves pouring their soul on huge global stages. Many times the creative spirit finds them self locked in a world keeping their art and heart away from those who could be helping them reach for larger walls of fame. Heavy subject right? That's exactly where Anggun and I walked during our conversation. She's one of the biggest artists in the world and has no problem diving deep into the process of where it's all coming from. Her latest release on rBeatz Radio is What We Remember.

Tim Johnson Jr

Listen to "rBeatz Music Update Tim Jr From The Four On FOX" on Spreaker. The moment you step onto The Four stage on FOX there's already distance. P Diddy, DJ Khalid are the furthest away from wearing a pair of millennial shoes. To watch Tim Johnson Jr play up to Meghan Trainor was a smart move. He believes a time of change is currently underway within the ranks of modern music and he'd love to be one of the leaders.

Rell Jerv

Listen to "Rell Jerv From The Four On FOX" on Spreaker. Derrell Jervey known as Rell Jerv is an American artist born and raised in Wilmington, Delaware. Following the success of his latest single, “Cheated on Yourself”, Rell returns with the feel good new single, “Ms. Sunray”. “Ms. Sunray” is a feel good song, that puts you in mind of an era filled with Outkast and Little Brother joints. Produced by TheMak3rs, this single def is one to rock too. Rell collaborated with Richie Alvarez organically and came out with something magical. The single, Ms. Sunray is now available on all major platforms. Rell Jerv on the making of “Ms. Sunray”: “Ms. Sunrey is one of my favorite records to date just because of the way it came together. I co-wrote this song with Richie and this is before we built our studio. So you had Rich, Scotti P, A.Jo and myself all in this really small room just trying to catch a vibe and when Rich did the ad lib in the beginning of the song it really set the tone. I am so grateful to him because he didn’t have to do the song but he is a person like me that only wants to make music at any cost, he was actually battling some health issues and could not even walk. So here is a guy that’s pushing himself around on a scooter, stuck in this small room with 3 other people just to make this happen and the way the song came together was so organic which is probably why it is one of my favorites.”

Nicholas Pinnock

Listen to "Nicholas Pinnock From Counterpart" on Spreaker. Not everyone grows up to live out their childhood dream, but Nicholas Pinnock did just that. The British actor, who has starred in U.K. series such as Top Boy and Marcella, is set to make his official debut across the pond in the upcoming sci-fi spy thriller Counterpart, starring Academy Award-winning actor J.K. Simmons. Ahead of the Jan. 21 premiere, PEOPLE caught up with Pinnock, 44, to discuss the much-anticipated series, created by Justin Marks and ordered straight-to-series for two seasons by Starz way back in the spring of 2015. "I knew from the age of 4 exactly what it was I wanted to do," Pinnock says. "I had this dream of what my life would be like. I mean, we all have an idea of what we want our life to be like, and years later, that's my life. It's just f-ing awesome." The espionage series follows Simmons' Howard Silk (a lowly cog in the bureaucratic machinery of a Berlin-based United Nations spy agency), who discovers that his organization safeguards the secret of a crossing into a parallel dimension. Pinnock plays Ian Shaw, the love interest of Silk's wife, Emily, played by Olivia Williams. "It's a really exciting, fun, thriller of a show," Pinnock says. "J.K. is a master at what he does, and he makes everything look so effortless. His presence on set - sometimes you wouldn't even know he was there. He's also really generous. There's no ego at all." "Everybody, in fact, was just so happy to be there and wanted it to be the best show that it could possibly be," he adds. "So egos went right out the window - we all just got on and did it. And whoever had a great idea, we went with that one."

Jeremy Dauber

Listen to "Jeremy Dauber Jewish Comedy" on Spreaker. The history of these strands encompasses both historical and contemporary Judaism. JEWISH COMEDY covers an extraordinary range of comedic practice, from Talmudic anecdotes to Mel Brooks, from the Wise Men of Chelm to Saul Bellow to Broad City. A small survey of the talent on display includes Larry David, Lenny Bruce, Joan Rivers, Woody Allen, Allen Sherman, Philip Roth, and the Marx Brothers. But JEWISH COMEDYis equally fascinated by the Hasidic, the medieval, the Yiddish, and even the biblical foundations of the art form.

Mind Maps

Listen to "Mind Maps" on Spreaker. How many times did your parents accuse you of being too difficult? I heard it so much growing up that I learned to laugh about it. A parental figure reminding you of your actions and reactions is no different than a radio station program director calling the hot line "Hey that last talk break was pretty lame. Where is your focus? Do we need to set up a meeting to discuss the issue?" The one thing each of us have in common is a mind map. We carry with us a lot of weight caused by the effect of everything around us. I don't remember my parents or grandparents talking about having too much on their mind or never enough time to deal with issues. Being part of this social media world has turned each of us into headline hounds. I totally laugh out loud when someone writes about having to drop FaceBook and Twitter because it became too much to handle. We're addicted. Stand up and admit it to the circle of friends and family that have gathered. I've been a daily writer since 1994. A trick learned while studying the wisdom of Julia Cameron's The Artist Way. One problem. I write in the morning. What about the human stick figure at 4pm? Which is why I've disciplined myself to defrag. All that was once part of your workday or passing of time set free away from the mind body and soul headed into an evening that won't be protected by a strong heart. You're tired and there's too many great shows on NetFlix. Defrag. One to three pages of being incredibly honest with the core of your soul. That very part of body that will soon jump into bed and dream. What poisons that movie maker in your head? All the junk you keep storing. Defrag. You might actually find a sliver of love for your boss tomorrow.

She's all about the music and bringing it to fans around the world. She's on rBeatz Radio with Blame.

Coup Stick Moment

Listen to "Coup Stick Moment" on Spreaker. I guess it's the way of the world. No matter how hard we try to peacefully get along with others there's always an unseen stone in the sand or an invisible wall that suddenly shows up and you're expected to unlock the missing door. Being a daily writer allows me to study beyond the actual moment. To measure growth while grasping onto the silliness of how we play in such a competitive field. In April of 2016 I penned out on those daily pages "If we agree to disagree everything will be smooth. But the moment you put demands on me then I can strike back in ways that benefit my greater purpose." You'd think that was a note to another human right? Not so. The way we treat ourselves would land half of us in an HR meeting with 18 books to be studied before returning. My writing hasn't always been public. That changed during a moment when I walked into a Native American Trading Post and purchased an authentic Coup Stick. It teaches us to peacefully walk up to what's invited darkness and just touch it. Nobody is injured. No feelings are assumed. It's just a friendly game of Coup. Leading a life of Coup opens your mind body and soul to in peace. No matter who what and why someone or something is giving you a negative vibration. Play a game of Coup. Stop carrying around the enormous amount of weight that could've easily been dropped with a little bit of conversation.

Thunder In The Soul

Listen to "Thunder In The Soul" on Spreaker. I get it. There's a lot of noise in the places you walk. Not making it easier is our addiction to social media. No matter how many times we plant something on those pages someone reads it wrong. We have so much thunder in our souls that getting up and moving to the proper places is endlessly interrupted by the walls created by other peoples problems. Even worse our own problems. Too often we jump into thoughts and processes that generate waves of negative vibrations that silence nothing. It only adds to the thunder in your soul. Which reminds me of the enormous amount of energy that crashes into our summers via a weather system. Learning to let those claps of thunder move through us is a task that seems larger than what we can handle. And yet the answer is always there. Let it move through. No summer thunderstorm stays in the same place. It moves away from the cities and mountains it bumps into. Your mind body and soul are no different. Exercising your strength to let it move beyond you puts you in a more productive positive place. I'm a daily writer but writing isn't always the answer. 98 percent of those who ready your documents have no clue what emotions you've chosen to share. Stay away from writing and have some face to face time. Let that thunder in your soul go without being angry. Move with an agenda of maintaining a positive outcome that benefits all things connected.

Alessia Cara

Listen to "rBeatz Music Update Alessia Cara Creating Music" on Spreaker. Creative people speak a lot about synesthesia. It's breaking down all things connected and understanding their association. In doing this we learn how to utilize the energy on future projects. Alessia Cara totally gets into the process describing her process by way of color. If something feels blue or purple then it can only work with something of the same description or feel. It must work because the song Stay is still a huge attraction on rBeatz Radio.

People reach a certain point then decide in the moment there's nothing greater. The goal should be to continuously look for opportunity. Camila is all over rBeatz Radio with Havana.

Winning At Work

Listen to "Winning At Work" on Spreaker. The first thing we have to make clear is that every player and every level of the performance is at risk. In a world of take, take, take, each department has courageously pushed their way through and over multiple mountains of expectation. But how do you win at work? How can the individual trained to be a team player find faith in themselves beyond the four walls of do it now or look for another job. We've all had bad bosses. Just last night I scanned through my memory banks and documented the behavior of each. Why? To make room for new steps and journeys. If the weight on your back is a past that can't be changed. Get rid of the excess fat. Trim the path that brought you to the present. Admit to yourself "Hey they were a jerk. But I don't have to be." Learning to understand your process of growth is a winning step toward influencing the arrival of tomorrow. When the former head of Netflix puts into her latest book that bosses should fire employees that aren't prepared for the arrival of the six months after the next six months... that should be a signal to the solo performer to get on board or get off the ship. Stop poisoning your growth with the damp ugly waters of bad work. Make the move. Find the land that is perfect to plant new seeds. 2019 is less than 365 days away. Marth Brockenbrough

Listen to "Martha Brockenbrough Mom Are You Santa Claus" on Spreaker. Every parent who celebrates Christmas dreads that inevitable, daunting question. LOVE, SANTA is the beautifully affirming answer. Sooner or later, families that celebrate Christmas arrive at a crossroads when the children begin to question just who this jolly fellow with a beard and a red suit really is. How exactly does he get down those chimneys? How do his reindeer fly? How does he know what all the little children wish for? And why does his handwriting on gift cards look strangely familiar? Martha Brockenbrough manages to merge honesty and magic to help families in one of the most poignant of growing-up moments. LOVE, SANTA—a lavishly designed picture book by acclaimed author Martha Brockenbrough and illustrator Lee White—began as a real-life series of letters between Martha and her young daughter Lucy. As happens in so many families around the world, Lucy wrote letters to Santa every year that her mom dutifully answered in secret. Then came the year Lucy turned nine and the Christmas question all parents anticipate with dread. So Martha wrote one final letter, explaining the truth about the magic of Christmas and the true identity of Santa. Santa is bigger than any one person," she writes to her daughter. "Santa is love and magic and hope and happiness...." It's the gentlest possible letdown to a childhood fantasy, just right for children who are ready to hear the truth about Santa. Martha knew her story could help other parents going through the same daunting moments so she posted it on a popular parenting blog. The reaction was immediate: the original piece was picked up by national outlets including The New York Times, has been shared and pinned millions of times worldwide. Note: Love, Santa is for children who are definitely, absolutely, positively ready to hear the truth--or already know it--about Santa Claus.

Dr Demento

Listen to "Dr Demento and John Cafiero Covered In Punk" on Spreaker. Demented Punk Records’ inaugural release, “DR. DEMENTO COVERED IN PUNK,” is a special two-hour demented punk extravaganza featuring an eclectic mix of artists from the world of classic and contemporary punk/indie/alt-rock, along with special guest stars from film, TV and more. This audio oddity is a modern-day homage to radio icon Dr. Demento, a world-renowned institution who has championed novelty music and its creators since the 1970’s “I’ve been a fan of Dr. Demento nearly my entire life,” said album producer and participant, John Cafiero. “The Doc’s show has introduced audiences to counter culture and an eclectic talent pool of humor-infused music for nearly five decades; creating a musical movement that echoes the spirit of punk with its own unique voice. There are no airs, and everyone’s welcome. If you didn’t fit in— you fit in.” “Dr. Demento Covered In Punk” features over thirty different, never before released, all-new ‘punk’ cover versions of ‘mad music and crazy comedy’ songs famously heard on the airwaves of the legendary “Dr Demento Show”— intermixed with ‘wild card’ tracks showcasing some incredible, newly ‘demented’ versions of punk-rock classics! Joined by everyone from the Misfits, Joan Jett, Fred Schneider of the B52s, to “Weird Al” Yankovic, the late Adam “Batman” West (in one of his final performances), and Captain Kirk himself, William Shatner (to name just a few). The Doctor is in…and he’s ‘Covered in Punk’!! “I produced the album and curated the artist roster as if it was a musical art exhibition, or directing a feature film, and packaged it in the form of a traditional radio show hosted by Dr. D. himself. For some this might be an introduction to the lost art of the traditional radio format, and for others, a welcome return,” adds Cafiero. “The artists here range from classic to contemporary, from icons and legends, to fresh voices from the underground—but I don’t think any of them are doing what you might expect of them here! It’s really a celebration of the bizarre, and I can’t wait to unleash it on to the world.” “When John Cafiero first proposed this project several years ago I was a little puzzled at first, but when he began naming the artists and songs he’d lined up for the project I was totally sold,” said Dr. Demento. “What started out as a single CD soon grew into a double (and a triple for vinyl), and I hope you enjoy it as much as I’ve enjoyed helping John put this together.” “Dr. Demento: Covered In Punk” includes an in-depth booklet with equally entertaining liner notes and personal quotes from the participating artists, a foreword by album producer and Demented Punk founder John Cafiero (Misfits, Ramones, Osaka Popstar), an afterword by Dr. Demento, as well as factoids, photos and an array of dynamic paintings and illustrations created exclusively for the project by a team of visual artists spanning the world of comic books, classic punk rock album covers, Topps trading cards series, Mad Magazine and More. The cover artwork for the album was created by iconic illustrator Drew Friedman whose work has appeared in countless publications from Entertainment Weekly and Time Magazine to Rolling Stone and the New Republic and just about everything in between.

Allan Lichtman

Listen to "Allan Lichtman The Case For Impeachment" on Spreaker. "Lichtman has written what may be the most important book of the year." -The Hill "It is still striking to see the full argument unfold and realize that you don't have to be a zealot to imagine some version of it happening. . . . Lies. Abuse of power. Treason. Crimes against humanity. Martial law. Lichtman throws everything Trump's way." -Washington Post Published to coincide with the first anniversary of Donald J. Trump's inauguration and updated with new material and a new introduction, a paperback edition of the critically acclaimed, national bestseller that makes the case for impeaching the 45th president of the United States. In the fall of 2016, Allan Lichtman-the Distinguished Professor of History at American University who has correctly forecasted thirty years of presidential outcomes-made headlines when he predicted that Donald J. Trump would defeat Hillary Clinton, to win the presidency. In this timely, considered volume, written in clear, nonpartisan terms, Lichtman lays out the reasons Congress could remove Trump from the Oval Office: his ties to Russia before and after the election and his possible obstruction of the investigation-including firing F.B.I. Director James Comey-the complicated financial conflicts of interest at home and abroad violating the Constitution's Emoluments Clause, and his abuse of executive authority. The Case for Impeachment also offers a fascinating look at presidential impeachment proceedings throughout American history, including those involving Andrew Johnson, Richard Nixon, and Bill Clinton. Lichtman shows how Trump exhibits many of the flaws (and more) that have doomed past presidents, and argues, with clarity and power, that for Donald Trump's presidency, smoke has become fire. Historians, legal scholars, and politicians alike agree: we are in politically uncharted waters. The cost to the nation is high: the durability of our institutions is increasingly being undermined and the public's confidence continues to erode, threatening American democracy itself.

The Lyrics From Billy's Forest Chapter 93

Listen to "The Lyrics From Billys Forest Chapter 93" on Spreaker. The depths that we travel aren't always by way of choice. We can try to erase the paths that invited the moment to unfold but the elements that create purpose find their way back to the forefront of reason. Lets be honest. We all endure seasons. But do we learn from the steps taken or try to rebuild the trail to better suit how we accept the day or night? The answers are always there. We just have this way of always wanting to be the editor. Pay closer attention not to your vision and or decision to reach a goal or destination. The power of the universe has a way of knocking you clean off that thought. Jot down notes. Listen to the arrival of the present more than what you did in the past and how you think you've invested in the future. Build your foundation by listening first. The answers are there. Through choice you drop the ball.

Hollowed Out Tree

Listen to "Hollowed Out Tree" on Spreaker. I love studying the habits of nature. To sit and watch. To listen. To grasp onto a different view of the bigger story. Such as a hollowed out tree. With it's height and weight it looks more mighty than the wind. And yet we know nothing of its roots. When I see a tree like this I'm instantly reminded of the people I know. How many in our circles are just as hollowed out? But we truly don't take note because we've mastered the art of filling ourselves up with everything but the good stuff.

Listen to "Ash Minor From The Four On FOX Returns" on Spreaker. You can't help but love his winning attitude. Live, love, feel, breath and let music take you off your feet.... Ash Minor continues to gain access to the creative scene on The Four from FOX. There's been no singing competition like it. The battles are unique and create a lot of conversation.

I Blank...

Listen to "I Blank" on Spreaker. There are certain lines people overuse that bend the rules of belief. I'm truly bothered by bosses and coworkers that use the terms, "You da man or you rock!" Truth is a simple thank you goes a lot farther. Another overused collection of words is, "There are no I's in Teamwork." There's no team either. When you break down the practices that we bring to life each new day "I" has to appear on the map first. No team can be shaped unless the willing way of the "I's" bring their art forward. I see too many extremely creative people deeply injured by this idea that Teamwork is the only choice. Steps are required before Team. It's a community of "I's" Learning to live in the present requires the mind body and soul to understand the existence of now. For now to happen there's a huge demand for "I" to be present. Team building is a great idea. But we fail to look at the individual that's putting them self through the changes and challenges. I actually had a boss tell me "I only care about the person you are when you come to work. Don't bring me anything else." I totally get that. We've got so much drama in our "I" world that it's infecting the Team spirit of process. But not as bad as the team that shows up to the meeting because they were mandated to. I sit watching while meetings unfold. I take note of the "I's" thinking they'd be more productive outside the circle. A community of "I" people wins. I _____. Answer the question ten times. Your winning attitude will locate victory.

Dave Aude

Listen to "rBeatz Music Update Dave Aude Talks Mixing Music" on Spreaker. KYGO

Listen to "rBeatz Music Update KYGO Talks BPM's" on Spreaker. Within the realms of EDM and Dance the early years proved that you had to keep the rhythms and beats at an extreme level energy. KYGO has help changed that image by studying the art of mixing genres. Lowering the beats per minute has helped usher in a larger welcoming mat for the multitudes that thought they'd never enjoy an EDM moment.

John Lodge

Listen to "John Lodge Live From Birmingham" on Spreaker. In September 2016, John Lodge, legendary bass player, song writer and vocalist of The Moody Blues, embarked on a solo tour for the first time in his 50+ year career. John, and his 10,000 Light Years Band, travelled around England, without the huge support team he would normally have with the Moody Blues, playing smaller venues, visiting new places, and the response took his breath way. The last night of that tour was at the Birmingham Town Hall, John’s home town, where the concert was filmed and recorded. This show is now being released as a live album, with artwork designed by Roger Dean, and with exclusive tour merchandise from the 2016 tour, plus a few special surprises, also available. Please note some of the limited edition pieces will be held back until 12pm (UK time). John features tracks from his solo album, 10,000 Light Years Ago, and captures the heart of classic Moody Blues’ songs like ‘I’m Just a Singer (in a Rock and Roll Band),’ ‘Ride My See-Saw,’ ‘Isn’t Life Strange,’ and the never before played live, ‘Candle of Life,’ and more. There is also the classic Blue Jays’ song, ’Saved By The Music’. The CD/DVD package features the full live show on both CD and DVD, with the DVD bringing an additional ‘Journey to Birmingham’ film – available in both NSTC (for US and Canada) and PAL (for Europe and Asia) DVD formats.

Caroline Fraser

Listen to "Caroline Fraser Prairie Fires" on Spreaker. The true story of Laura Ingalls Wilde’s life has never been fully told. The Little House books were not only fictionalized but brilliantly edited, a profound act of myth-making and self-transformation. Now, drawing on unpublished manuscripts, letters, diaries, and land and financial records, Caroline Fraser—the editor of the Library of America edition of the Little House series—masterfully fills in the gaps in Wilder’s story with PRAIRIE FIRES: The American Dreams of Laura Ingalls Wilder [Metropolitan Books]. The first comprehensive historical biography for adults, PRAIRIE FIRES separates Laura Ingalls Wilder the woman from the stereotypes and misconceptions readers of her books might have of her life. Set as it was against nearly a century of dramatic change, Wilder’s life provides a unique perspective on American history and our national mythology of self-reliance, and is both stranger and darker than her books. After a brutally hard childhood on the frontier, Wilder found herself married at 18 and a mother a year later. After a series of personal tragedies, including the loss of a child and her husband’s crippling stroke, Wilder uprooted herself and moved with her husband seven hundred miles south, and began a long climb out of poverty accomplished through grit and hard work. At the age of sixty, after losing nearly everything in the Depression, Wilder turned to children’s books, partially on the urging of her daughter, Rose Wilder Lane, who had found success in the literary trade herself. Fraser’s examination of Wilder’s tumultuous relationship with her daughter sets the record straight regarding charges of ghostwriting that have swirled around the books. With fresh insights and new discoveries, Prairie Fires reveals the complex woman whose classic stories grip us to this day.

Saeed Renaud

Listen to "Saeed From The Four On FOX" on Spreaker. I love his laugh. No matter how tall the mountain Saeed's positive approach to accepting the challenge is spot on true leadership. Zara Hayes

Listen to "Zara Hayes From Natl Geo Wild" on Spreaker. The series is filled with Fossey’s own observations, recorded in her writings and brought to life by Sigourney Weaver, who has a special connection to Fossey. Weaver won a Golden Globe, and was nominated for an Oscar, for her portrayal of Fossey in the 1988 film “Gorillas in the Mist.” Weaver is uniquely placed to recount Fossey’s firsthand thoughts and feelings. Acclaimed film director, producer and writer James Marsh serves as executive producer on the miniseries. Marsh directed 2008’s “Man on Wire,” the Academy Award-winning documentary about Philippe Petit’s high wire walk between New York’s Twin Towers. Marsh also helmed 2015’s “The Theory of Everything,” the Academy Award- and Golden Globe-nominated film about physicist Stephen Hawking and his relationship with his wife. Dian Fossey: Secrets in the Mist presents exclusive access to rare and unseen footage of Fossey in her daily habituations and up-close studies of gorillas. Also featured are in-depth interviews with her close colleagues and friends, including gorilla researcher and doctoral student Wayne McGuire and friend Sir David Attenborough. Dian Fossey: Secrets in the Mist tells Fossey’s life story from her lonely childhood to her work in Rwanda, where she founded the Karisoke Research Center in September 1967 and spent 18 years studying and protecting the mountain gorilla population there. The series details her close friendship with the young gorilla Digit, whose merciless mutilation and decapitation by poachers would deeply affect Fossey, as well as the people who worked by her side, including National Geographic photographer Bob Campbell, with whom she fell in love but who would leave her heartbroken when he returned to civilization and his wife. Fossey was brutally slain in her remote mountain cabin in 1985. The series explores the investigation around her murder and the subsequent trial of McGuire, who was found guilty in absentia by Rwandan courts. McGuire’s conviction has long been questioned by those familiar with the circumstances, and now — with exclusive access to Fossey’s belongings and personal effects, including objects from the scene of her murder as well as a rare interview with McGuire himself — his claims of innocence are given new credence. Checking in on the legacy of Fossey’s work, Dian Fossey: Secrets in the Mist features footage of the Pablo troop of gorillas, descendants of the very gorillas Fossey studied. Thanks to her work in protecting Rwanda’s mountain gorilla population, the group was able to survive the worst years of poaching and threats to their habitat.

Skepticism Maker

Listen to "Skepticism Maker" on Spreaker. I was blessed with the opportunity to host a 4.5 hour lecture the other day. I started the morning off with a simple question. So simple that I knew it would land deep in the souls of every person present and they'd have more questions for me then the one single question I was holding. "How can I help you get through your skepticism?" Whomp! Down they went! Suddenly the clown in the center ring wasn't being captain positive and funny. Skepticism is a dream breaker. It's that voice in your head. That silence in your heart. That map changer fully capable of putting your feet in unexpected places of change. We're all skeptics. But how can we help steal the steam from it's fire starter? Living in the present puts you ahead of where skepticism wants you to grow. I call it, "Living in the is." This is how I'm going to think. This is how I'm going to grow. This is the moment I have control over." Absolutely the skeptic is present. But you own the now. It's only a backseat driver. I keep six different journals with me at all times. I don't mind listening to the reasons why skepticism has shown it's ugly face but I won't let it be the reason why I'm moving forward and outward. I must drive my wife crazy. Without hesitation I drop everything and begin writing. Be in the is... This is my choice to write in the moment to which I'm mindfully grateful for. Skepticism hates that kind of positive action and reaction. You aren't giving it fuel to flood your thinking.

Ray Padgett

Listen to "Ray Padgett Cover Me" on Spreaker. Ray wrote the book after a long article on the story behind Jimi Hendrix covering "All Along the Watchtower" on the blog went viral in 2014. It became one of the book's chapters Devo had to get Mick Jagger to personally approve their Stones cover since it was so weird. They met in a conference room, where they watched Jagger dance around to their recording. "Midnight Train to Georgia" was originally titled "Midnight Plane to Houston." The title was suggested inadvertently by Farrah Fawcett on a phone call with the writer. Glady Knight refused to record it until she heard the plane/train and Houston/Georgia switch. David Byrne did not want to record a cover, since he worried it would be all the Talking Heads would ever been known for. His bandmates and producer Brian Eno persuaded him - but, when it became their first big hit, he refused to ever record another. Elvis Presley wanted to cover "I Will Always Love You" but when he demanded half the songwriting credit, Dolly Parton turned him down. She was distraught - until Whitney Houston covered it. Whitney was supposed to cover a different song for the Bodyguard, but Kevin Costner himself suggested "I Will Always Love You" Trent Reznor didn't like Johnny Cash's cover of "Hurt" - until he saw the music video The Gourds' bluegrass "Gin and Juice" cover was arguably the first song to ever go viral on the internet. But it went viral mislabeled as Phish, so the band didn't get the fame or glory from their only hit. About the author: Ray Padgett lives in New York City and also works as a senior music publicist for Shore Fire Media, where his clients have included Ben Harper, Lana Del Rey, and Maxwell. His twitter is @covermesongs, and more of his work can be found at www.covermesongs.com/. His music writing has appeared in SPIN, MTV, Vice, Consequence of Sound, and more, and he’s been interviewed as an expert on cover songs by the Wall Street Journal and the BBC.

Montana Mud

Listen to "Montana Mud" on Spreaker. Growing up in a pair of Montana shoes taught me how to slip free of rainy days and flooded pathways. Once Montana mud gets on your feet the weight of your present moment steals every inch of air from the shape of your lungs. Georgia clay has a way of staining but Montana mud creates a path that invites others to know where you are in every moment delivered. Not always a good thing. Missing from most people's lives is the purity of pure. Not holy or greater than. But waters that evenly flow through the Cyprus gardens of South Carolina. It's the deepest of dark. Beyond black. And yet when you are up close and personal with the presentation there's no question. It's some of the freshest water in the country. How? It looks like poison! What does this have to do with Montana mud? Up north you know who's making your waters murky. In South Carolina every element on the planet has access to making those waters a terrible place to be but it doesn't. Where in your wandering did you pick up that Montana mud? How can you take what you've already lived and purify its purpose to the point of accepting it? Is it as simple as being spiritual or religious, knowing to be fully accountable for each journey of choices and decisions that govern the soils capable of making water murky. How do you convince your mind body and soul to study the beauty in something very ugly?

Sofi Tukker

Listen to "rBeatz Music Update Sofi Tucker Talks Songwriting" on Spreaker. Pop Music and Dance have had their fair share of songwriting collaborations but does it ever get to the point where you lean in and admit how you've forgotten who wrote what and when? Sofi Tukker is more than the act to watch. Their live performances and latest rBeatz Radio song Best Friend has put them in the ears of fans and followers worldwide.
