Stream Thinking: Now What?

Listen to "Stream Thinking Now What" on Spreaker. June 28, 2021 Stream thinking is no different than two people at a pub blurting out an atmosphere of whatever’s in the moment. We see a lot of stream writing on social media. Especially when people send something out and your mouth drops. Gulp! Ok. Didn’t know. I challenge myself not only as a writer but a performer to trust what’s happening right now. It can be a dangerous walk because the receiver can easily cancel culture you. How far are you willing to go with your writing without inviting someone to tune out? A good example is my rant about how we were all so damn noisy during the lockdown. Why are we wearing these masks? Why aren’t businesses open? The gyms are closed! I wanna see live music then a comedian! Now that the wall has fallen and nothings standing in the way… Where are you? You aren’t at the movie theater! You aren’t showing up at local restaurants. Those family home grown kitchens are dropping like flies. Where are you? You made a lot of noise but you aren’t showing off your freedom. Too early for a guilt trip? Binge watching television has put us in a weird state of accepting not just a new normal but new culture. I was listening to Rob Lowe’s podcast with Jimmy Kimmel. The late night talk show host once frequented local hangouts three times a week. Today he can barely handle one dinner out. Rob’s response was priceless, “We’ve gone from 16 months of seclusion into a very loud world. The mind is having a difficult time digesting everybody else’s noise.” Why aren’t we going to movie theaters? Because we don’t want to. The power of choice! Take that! I made a decision. Mine! Mine! A system of delivery that feels like a chore to drive three miles to a movie house. We are no different than a dog begging for a treat. They want and want. Pant, race around the house, bark and scratch at your leg. The very second you give them the treat the dog drops it on the floor and walks away. Do something with your freedom. Get back into localism by way of supporting business.

Making The Connection

Listen to "Making The Connection" on Spreaker. June 24, 2021 So much expectation. My God we put so much pressure on ourselves daily. So much expectation. Not enough time to make the desired delivery. Our minds have been overtaken by what “it” feels is the proper path and rightful journey. Yet the heart is still undecided. The heart. Will they ever agree? Living a life of being in the present robs from the ambition to dream. To be mindful of my here means I have to be here. To have a goal or inner feeling or need of being greater tomorrow takes me away from here. That’s extremely difficult to digest. The ambition is to do all we can to slow down the ticks on a clock. We can’t gather the right amount of required strength to push back the hands of time. Where is the knowledge to properly keep the calendar at a digestible behavior? I say this while trying to convince myself that time has its own personality. Time hasn’t changed! It’s still sixty seconds to make up a minute. Sixty minutes to create an hour and we only get twenty four per day. So much expectation. The Covid lockdown did happen right? The repercussions have infected not just this generation but the next seven. I read an article yesterday about how millions don’t want to go back to a normal way of living. This new way of walking has opened so many different points of direction. Business leaders are creating deadlines as to when the entire gang has to report to their company desk. The reluctant are shaking their heads, “Nope. Not gonna happen.” Watching your behavior is a great place of study. I know how we got here. To free ourselves from it is the texture. It’s not about air friers and insta-pots. From what I’m experiencing through the art of listening It’s not even about the fear of coming down with Covid in a society where barely 50% have been vaccinated. We got a huge taste of what it’s like to have space and we liked it. Now we crave it. Need it. Will sacrifice everything to get back to that feeling of having it. The business world has changed and will continue to evolve. The best of the best won’t be coming back. It steals from what little time is left. For a moment the entire world held in their hearts what it’s like to wonder if this is our last summer.

The Lyrics From Billy's Forest Chapter 251

Listen to "The Lyrics From Billys Forest Chapter 251" on Spreaker. June 22, 2021 The birthing moments of a new season. Whether it’s physically outside or inside you. The birthing moments. I live in a forest. To watch it waking up after a winters nap is a never ending story. Bright purple flowers, elegant white pedals, itty bitty green leaves and the scent of pollen. It weakens my head to have so much of this birthing of a new season inside my head. And what do we do as the human to share with these trees and other surroundings? We toss in the distant roar of a highway taken over by cars, crank up the sounds of a lawnmower devouring green blades of grass and weeds and flood the planet with the wide array of sounds caused by the music pouring from our digital devices. There’s always something to see when we let go of what we think brings us entertainment. A red tail hawk has built a nest in my forest. Its morning conversation is vibrant as well as ear shattering. There’s already heat from the early summer sky which is blocked out by an umbrella of limbs promising to protect my skin. And what do we have to give? Is our true gift allowing a collection of trees to just be? Can we be just friends, writers and poets, dreamers and whatever else? Everyday a new season arrives within. How do you handle the constant need to be a taker? When do you decide to give? This isn’t about sending checks and or buying canned goods to donate. Giving to the atmosphere that makes up your present place of Now. I penned out a question in my daily prayer, “How do we know it’s you?” In this present place of Now a summertime rain cloud is giving to the roots of all of these trees. How do we know it’s you? It’s right there in front of your taking! The goal is to figure out how to give back.

Stream Thinking: Half Assing

Listen to "Stream Thinking Half Asser" on Spreaker. June 21, 2021 We’re all very guilty of it. Being a half asser. It’s a subject that burns a lot of bridges. Cuz nobody wants to wear the badge that says you’re a half asser. Being a team leader I’m deeply bothered by someone’s decision to half ass a project. That means someone else is going to called in to clean up the half ass job. I’ve done research on this. The best way to handle a half asser is to call them out. Don’t let them get away with half assing an expectation. They’ll half ass it every time you give them the task. I think we’re in the presence of a half ass moment of business history. The decision to return to the place of work or stay home. Although the experts say productivity is at an all-time high those in control believe the process of success cannot be greater tomorrow without some face to face time. I can’t comment on what it’s like to do work from home because I’ve been on the frontline since September of 2020. I’m digging the adventure! Whereas there are people in my life struggling to make it back to the office. What does that have to do with half assing? CEO’s aren’t ever going to change. If your butt isn’t in the chair what do you think? But they’ve got to be careful. At no time in the history of America have employees had the upper hand on making career decisions. When bosses are saying “Be at work.” Those being confronted are saying, “I’m no longer part of your process of success.” Face The Nation just did a huge report on this! Bosses are still attached to 2019. Employees are locked in on where the future is growing. Still… What does this have to do with half assing? Who is the half ass in this picture of business? The CEO who wants to walk the way of the old days or the employee that makes their way back to work? My broadcast career is brought to life in a home studio. I love being here! My essential job cannot be done from here. I took on that essential job because I needed to be with people. Oh my God! If you could read my journals and hear my prayers. I needed to get back out there! That’s where I met a huge half ass group of people that report to work but don’t complete the full expectation. For leaders it’s a new learning process. One that deserves to put the employee far ahead of the decision maker. I don’t make demands. I listen. I study their process. The goal is to make a daily connection. To become part of their budding new normal. The moment department heads, GM’s and other leaders make the decision to dominate the moment is the clearer picture of how they’re going to half ass the success. My way or the highway. In the hearts of the employee “Well ok. Your next hire is maybe sixth or seventh best.” We’ve got to reach beyond half assing. The future arrives with ever tick on the clock.

Pushing Through The Page

Listen to "Pushing Through The Page" on Spreaker. June 17, 2021 Pushing through the page. When flow isn’t being met by the expectations fed by adventure. Pushing through the page. Instead of walking away, the push is to remain. To be present. To locate the lack of flow and study the cause of the blockage. Creative minds aren’t the only travelers that deal with this moment of truth. You feel as if nothings moving. You’re standing there with all kinds of emotions. But nothings flowing. Is it because every day feels like every day? A series and system of habits. Everything’s laid out like pillows on a bed. I’m supposed to feel this way that this time. This is when my mood will change. I’ll take the dog for a walk at this time and I will feel this. We are in the same frame of mind. It’s not just me! I see it in you! I daily write at the same time every morning. I constantly blame it on the clock. I need to be here by such and such time or the flow of my day will become damaged. How do you get through this? You’ve got to call yourself out. Be upfront with your inner laziness. Through awareness make your moment a movement and not a stalemate in chess. There’s a cause to every effect. Pushing through the page invites process as it churns into progress. I was shocked to read that the CEO of Morgan Stanley has ordered employees to be back at work 100% by September 2021. Shocked because I thought we had evolved into a new generation of workplace doers. Pushing through the page in the home office was new age. LinkedIn posted a story about presenteeism. According to my computer dictionary it’s not even a word. Yet what it represents is very real. Presenteeism is being physically in a chair at work to appear dedicated. Pushing through the page. When flow isn’t being met by the expectations fed by adventure. If you thought the pandemic was a setback the darker side of this journey through time is yet to be born. Rent is due, food and gas prices are soaring, every day there’s a new Covid variant and your boss is promoting presenteeism. Pushing through the page. You are the owner and CEO of Me Inc. Winning is a choice.

The Rituals

Listen to "The Rituals" on Spreaker. June 16, 2021 When your best conversation of the day is at one in the morning. That’s when you begin to realize how much your life’s changed. Never once taking note of having to show up for a new day in about five hours. From out of nowhere you’ve got to rely on the invisible ports of energy to ignite the availability of what little is present. It’s moments like this that serve as a mental export. When you give yourself permission to set free what’s currently heavy on your heart. I believe we’ve entered a new age in global history. The term frontline worker is no longer important. As the planet continues to reopen their business adventures those that showed up when others didn’t will soon fade within the curve of the new normal. Mentally this runs deep into the presence of my now. Frontline workers were more than medical workers, fight fighters and police departments. Frontline worker was a description of those who faced their inner fears, doubts and uncertain decisions. Nothing got in the way of a frontline employee. Secretly we took our temperature, taste tested our pallets, measured our breathing and stared into the eyes of a person we didn’t really know in the bathroom mirror because it almost seemed unfair to be out there. Don’t just shrug your shoulders frontline people and try to push it to the side. You’re being recognized for that something that you never stopped investing in. That something was you. You kept moving. Coming within inches of others who may have given you Covid but through the grace of God you remain. With guilt in my heart I must admit that I didn’t have any clue what an essential worker was until this page in history. You’ll never be forgotten. In martial arts we do something that very few receive. It’s called the Big Bow. You’ve earned the respect to receive it. Thank you.

The Lyrics From Billy's Forest Chapter 250

Listen to "The Lyrics From Billys Forest Chapter 250" on Spreaker. June 15, 2021 The awareness of being. When there’s more to life than looking at the clock on the wall. The presence of my forest here in south Charlotte, NC brings energy to the source and supply of required energy. On March 13, 2021 I wrote inside the forest. The words put on paper were a reflection of what had already been lived then compared to the present. It was one year and five days since first writing anything about the Coronavirus Covid 19. I had found truth. No longer denying the pandemic. Which in March of 2021 was interesting to come across. A new season was blossoming right there in front of the writer. Consumed by Covid for a year and it was time to look at the leaves on the trees in his present and see how the wintertime ugliness remained just like Covid 19. The little green on the trees in March allowed the writer to see the color as a representation of today’s frontline workers. Covid hasn’t budged on creating a disappearing act. There are still frontline workers during this wintertime ugliness. I remember vividly sitting in the forest in March of 2020. It was deathly silent. No planes in the sky and the highways were nearly empty. A year and five days later the writer put into his thoughts what it was like to be in a new season where the birds are back to being vibrant, the airlines are in motion and the highways are that roar in the distance. The wintertime ugliness remains but through effort and belief life continues to grow beyond the silence. I penned out these words a thousand times during the opening chapters of Covid, “Where is your God?” I kept questioning myself. Harshly! Where is your God? In all of this wintertime ugliness and you can’t locate the answer! Then one day inside the daily writing the lighter shades of green began to appear by simply writing, “I’m right here. Where are you?” The lesson learned in all of that wintertime ugliness can be summed up in one word. Guidance. In all of that doubt, fear and wintertime ugliness we were always being guided. No matter how loud the questions were asked and demanded to be heard there was always guidance. The awareness of being. It’s a lifestyle.

Stream Thinking: Where Are You

Listen to "Stream Thinking Where Are You" on Spreaker. June 14, 2021 When what you see isn’t someone else’s reality. When what you hear is silence to the passerby. When every step you take nobody is watching you. This has to be the reason why millions of people are attracted to Tik Tok! Instagram feels like My Space. Totally yesterday. Outside of the cute dog and cat videos, what are you really streaming? The world of sports and television would like to know! Seriously where is everybody? Lord knows I see a lot of face time talking on your smart phone. Why aren’t the advertising agencies jumping on that with a Pepsi logo in the corner. Don’t even give me a privacy explanation. If you’re gonna talk out loud in public on that smart device that conversation is part of my place on the planet. Put a Pepsi logo on that and let’s make some money! When what you see isn’t someone else’s reality. When what you hear is silence to the passerby. When every step you take nobody is watching you. What’s your next move? The ability and willingness to walk away. To set aside. To no longer believe in. Then spend the rest of your life wondering why things didn’t work out. Millions of American’s are sitting at home waiting for the next government check. Why would you think they’d be interested in chasing a dream? That requires what you see to be seen by those you come in contact with. That would mean what you hear is planted in the ambition of those nearby or far away. When you take steps make sure people are watching you. Gene Simmons of KISS says it best, “If you don’t think it’s larger than life why should anyone else believe it?” The greatest moment in global history is upon us. The entire planet came to a stop. Now it’s time to whip out the tools and re-plan, replenish, repair and receive. But you need to work for your voice and presence. To the government, you’re only a number. When what you see isn’t someone else’s reality. When what you hear is silence to the passerby. When every step you take nobody is watching you.

Creating A Happy List

Listen to "Creating A Happy List" on Spreaker. June 11, 2021 Learning to turn the mind off while physically getting it back on in less than six hours. We all go through this. Elvis Presley needed drugs to sleep and drugs to wake up. Look at what we’re doing today, workout power mixes, power drinks, huge espressos, protein bars and more. Whatever it takes to reengage the energy required to pull off the moment and day. In keeping up with the Jones’ the mind becomes brutally abused. We’re exhausting our ambitions. The goals are to gain by way of filling our egos. But I have to ask. Mindfully are you present with your place of purpose? Are you grateful for its place in you? Two completely different frames of thought. Mindfully are you present with your place of purpose? Are you grateful for its place in you? A young adult talked to me about their ambitions to study psychology. My favorite subject! I was completely drawn to the conversation only to hear, “Well maybe not. I mean it’s going to take a long time to get there. I want to be successful now.” Just like mindfulness and gratefulness there are two sides to this. I understand their point of direction while knowing where a 42 year radio career has taken me. Investing in your calling demands attention. Time can’t be the issue. Time is your tool. A platform. The motivator and obviously for this young adult time is also a deflator. Mindfully are you present with your place of purpose? Are you grateful for its place in you? The best part of my 42 years in radio has nothing to do with the ratings or the size of the city but rather the decision to invest the energy into a thought. To take a source of content felt in a moment of now and turning it into a rolling actuality. In 2012 very very few people knew what podcasting was. I knew it had to become my life and path. Chrysler was bragging about their cars featuring Wi-Fi. I still remember sitting there on the sofa telling my wife how important it was to make the investment. To sacrifice the way I did when my journey in radio began in my bedroom in 1975. I had to let that child realize his dream had a brand new face. Mindfully are you present with your place of purpose? Are you grateful for its place in you? I did respond to the young adult, “If you truly feel the calling to get into psychology please know in your heart that time is not the important part here. It’s the lives you’re going change. Put the people first.”

Do It

Listen to "Do It" on Spreaker. June 10, 2021 This is gonna be deep. Probably too deep. It deals with laying out a new day. Preparing for what’s always unknown. True story! You can prep all you want for the birth of a new day and in the end you will never know how it’s going to be played out until you’ve lived it. A lot of energy is required to keep moving forward. Google Calendar can only take you so far. The dots on the map don’t always match. Ultimately though the bridge has to be crossed. Once there where’s your nearest answer? Showing up is the first step. Activation is 2, 3, 4 and 5. But in what order does the payoff begin? How many days or years must it take to face the results of the experience? The value of being aware. To not always accept. To do more than just think about it. The next step could be off a cliff. Is it seen as a leap of faith? When will you know? Stop for a moment. This next sentence is the purpose behind this conversation. There are never any true signs or sounds when all you’ve ever done is try. You can try all you want. That doesn’t always develop into a harvest. There’s a huge difference between doing and trying. Most people stop after they’ve tried. I was with American Ninja Daniel Gil yesterday. We shared a very deep conversation about this subject. Doing versus trying. It required him to take a seven year journey to one day win American Ninja. For seven years he did his absolutely best to achieve the highest victory. When he finally scored it last season his heart became open to the next step. What’s next? He didn’t become champion by trying. He did it. He didn’t take the trophy home and sit around. It became his mission to get involved with other people’s lives by activating their plan and not trying to find a place of celebration. Winning is a choice. Do it. Your days of trying are behind you. Do it.

Forgetting All About It

Listen to "Forgetting All About It" on Spreaker. June 9, 2021 This is probably gonna gonna come across like I’m walking on someone’s lawn. Isn’t that how most of us feel about every opportunity we’re given something to say? We’ve become the generation that whispers out a personal point of view. As if to not let anyone else hear your heart. Being present in a mask-less society. Did you know maskless isn’t a word. If you could see my computer page that bright red squiggly line is screaming at me. Maskless! I’m two days deep into a new normal maskless walk. I’m finding it to be a little difficult. I’m one of those that believed they were protected. I’ve been vaccinated for two months and finally found it in my heart to stop wearing the mask because I felt having it on promoted a different message, “I’m the 63% of those who still haven’t received the shot.” But because I am vaccinated I took off the black cloth. Is this how I felt when the world took me away from my mother’s womb? Seriously, why in God’s name did I want to leave that nice warm place? I was being fed, there was no government, no poverty, no war and bad music.” How about that first baby step though, “Look at me! I’m free! I can climb all over the steps and sofa! I’m gonna get into everything!” Being without that mask means I had to get on Monster, Indeed and Hire Me Please. Yeah I’m searching for a booger buddy. See, with the mask those boogers were of no concern. With the mask on you couldn’t catch me yawning. With the mask having a seed caught in my teeth was no embarrassing moment! How did the members of KISS feel when they finally took their paint off? Think about it. They ended up putting it back on. I will tell you though, Paul Stanley without his paint today has created one of the greatest bands outside of KISS. Without that mask we’ve been introduced to the artist within him. The group Soul Station is a reflection of Paul’s inspirations. What he’s doing with his vocals couldn’t have been performed while wearing the mask. So I turn to you. Without your mask. How will your artist self grow? Too soon? Don’t sit around with a wait and see attitude. The world’s gonna pass you. Living in the shadows of a doer is like wearing a mask.

The Lyrics From Billy's Forest Chapter 249

Listen to "The Lyrics From Billys Forest Chapter 249" on Spreaker. June 8, 2021 A woodpecker’s constant hammering on the trunk of a large tree has kept my imagination engaged on hidden fear. Anytime a woodpecker has selected my forest here in south Charlotte, NC, it means a passing of lives. The sound of the rhythmic thunder. I’d say this tree is several feet high and diameter. But in this present place of now I can’t pinpoint which trunk has come under attack. I just know the woodpecker is deeply dedicated to reaching whatever bugs it needs to survive. In Native American spirituality the woodpecker represent a growing storm. In all places that you presently stand you can’t help but wonder about personal strengths being called to action. This journey through modern day uncertainty. How many woodpeckers are lined up outside your spiritual forest? The woodpecker. A growing storm. Are you aware or deciding to push aside? Are you present enough to recognize the poisons on the inner core of the rings that make up your tree trunk? All that is hidden shall be located by the woodpecker. Recognizing means taking note of all things. Especially new growth. For who you are and how you become always rests in a ray of light.

Stream Thinking Removing The Why

Listen to "Stream Thinking Remove The Why" on Spreaker. June 7, 2021 We are we wasting a lot of time on repairing the why. Why was there a pandemic? Why was there an insurrection? Why won’t people please go back to work? Why? Why? Why? Too much time is spent trying to fix the why. It’s time to energize this thing called solutions. To put forth the effort of utilizing your gifts as a common man and woman and lead your team to recovery. Look at your team. If there are people on your path of reaching for success that fail to believe in positive growth let them go. Dump them. Infect their pocket without emptying yours. Dump the why makers. The word why is strangling us with excuses. Our greatest potential is being demolished. We put people into place that find no reason to invest in success. The only way to get strong is to find that one person in the why maker group and allow them to see why and how being faithful to the consumer is the purpose of our place in the present. One! That one person has the ability to walk within the why makers and inspire them to look beyond the excuse. It’s time to remove your instant forgiveness toward those who have no interest in your reasons to generate a product consumer’s need in their personal lives. Remove the why makers. But wait! We as a nation are suffering from a first time ever workplace pandemic of nobody wanting to work. The very second I mention, “Go home now.” Their world refocuses. I’m no different than you. Tired of hearing, “I don’t want to be here. I hate my job. I’m tired. I can’t stand what you want from me.” Drop the why maker. You’ll never reach the stone preserving the diamond feeling sorry for those that find no faith in your leadership. Winning is a choice. If you aren’t winning with me. Your paycheck will talk to you a different day. I didn’t make the choice to change those numbers. The why maker did.

Holy Jeans

Listen to "Holy Jeans" on Spreaker. June 4, 2021 You don’t need a blogger/podcaster to remind you of the amazing amount of division we face not just daily but minute by minute. Division. If I say, “Ice cream!” Someone will shout, “Cookies!” I get it. There’s always going to be sides. Potato chips versus popcorn. Division. In very interesting time in global history. A cancel culture generation where what you put out there can easily be classified as wrong and how dare you. Kevin Hart meant what he said, “Cancel culture has destroyed comedy.” In 2021 it’s extremely difficult to bring up God. The reaction? “Well what God are you talking about? Is it a She God or a He God and is there equal love and forgiveness?” Oh boy. The term I couldn’t stand during the breaking moments of the pandemic was, “This too shall pass.” Every time it was brought up the thought was connected to the Bible. We need some reality here. We think it was said. Although it’s referred to 120 times in the big book, it’s not really spoken in the way that we are spewing it. It’s kinda brought up in Genesis 4:14. Plus let’s not leave out 2 Corinthians 4:17-18. Listen, King Soloman commanded his servants to create something positive claiming, “If a sad man wears it he shall be happy. If a happy man sports it he shall be sad.” This too shall pass. He had those exact words engraved on his ring. So much division. Decisions made by what we seek. Right or wrong it feels good in the moment. Google that and see what the percentages are when it comes to believers that speak out but can’t back it up. What does it really mean when a Southerner says, “I’m gonna pray for you?”

The Weight Of A Dream

Listen to "The Weight Of A Dream" on Spreaker. June 3, 2021 A head full of thought. None of it is strong enough to fall out. How often do you feel that sinus pressure? A head full of thought. My daily discipline is to write every morning at five. It helps to unclog the mindset that was designed by last night’s dreams. I’m not a fan of dreams. Never have been. They carry too much weight for a waking moment. Many of my dreams feel too real. Like it’s happening. A head full of thought. None of it is strong enough to fall out. Which can be seen as a great place. Having the willingness to step through what you saw and or experienced while dreaming. Learning to control your dreams is a journey. The moment something doesn’t look right, sound right or feel like it doesn’t belong is when I instantly wake up. Which is the very reason why I don’t like to dream. I don’t want to wake up. Dreaming to me is no different than your computer dumping its cache. Through meditation I’m able to find peace. We have to stop using our dreams as early morning energy makers. My wife is very guilty of having an angry moment because of something she dreamed. She has the story already written and how it will be acted out in reality which then turns her upside down. Learning how to free the mind is why I was led to Nidra Meditation. We all have a lot going on up there. But is it strong enough to fall out? We spoke of the positive being the weight. If it’s heavy enough then why bring it out here? The other side of that is loosening up the thoughts so you aren’t clogging up your ambition to grow forward. When I am crammed with too much thought I write. Not about what’s driving my six senses crazy but I write about anything. To provide a split second of time with something other than what may have been placed there by a dream. Stream thinking is a brilliant exercise. With practice you’ll learn how to walk around what’s feeding your thoughts. I listen to a lot of frequency music. My present place is 528Hz. Which means what to the average person? Unless you’re here to experience the moment, it’s very difficult to put into words. What is your frequency? Go to YouTube and type in frequency music. The calmness is going to drive you bat crazy. Until you find that place where a head full of thought has no place in your day.

The Lyrics From Billy's Forest Chapter 248

Listen to "The Lyrics From Billys Forest Chapter 248" on Spreaker. June 2, 2021 A layer of thick fog rests on the floor of this forest in south Charlotte, NC. Unlike the scenes we’re being shown on the planet Mars. We’re amazed by the rover Perseverance and its way of documenting a completely different experience. No trees. No tall grass. No poison ivy clinging to the atmosphere with hairy tentacles. Just a bunch of rocks and rolling hills. A surface so bare that you can’t help but wonder what life would be like if we were there. A life with no connection to the beauty of this planet. I remember how I reacted to the state of Arizona when a radio station tried to hire me in Phoenix. I stepped off that plane and knew right away how I didn’t want to accept anything they offered. I’m from Carolina where everything is always green. To belong to a desert was a change in life my imagination couldn’t handle. Which is why when I see fog in my forest I’m energized. The presence of Now. Allowing the mind and heart to expand beyond the imagination. In your own walk and way it’s time to step into and within the birth of new growth. But first you have to identify with what growth is. Businesses speak of it daily. But as an employee or a dreamer are you moving through the motions and experiences? The reason why so many people have elected not to return to their jobs is simple. There’s no growth only expectation. They want. They need. They command. They threaten. The American dream right? What is growth? You got an entire year of it between March 2020 and today. Space to find you. To see your true self in the mirror. To grow a pair. Growth. I love it that businesses are struggling to locate employees. This is your chance to ask, “What’s in it for me?” What is growth? How can there be if everything you’re thinking about is based on family and survival. That’s where the current flow of growth exists. Family and survival. Not career survival but personal growth. A new layer of success has been given permission to evolve. What you decide today will determine if the new normal is nothing more than returning to the I Hate My Job mentality of success. You can’t be the head of a department and not lead. Remove your position on the totem pole and find your growth. Teach it to the point that your coworker or student are strong enough to replace you. That’s real leadership and growth. Create the fog on the forest floor. Be the maker of what attracts the imagination.

Stream Thinking: Be A Listener

Listen to "Stream Thinking Be A Listener" on Spreaker. June 1, 2021 I ask a lot of questions. Not only in famous people interviews but to a constantly growing self that’s endlessly trying to figure out how and why the dots were laid out as they appear. Questions. Being present with the real answers and not the assumption. Why do I find such incredible joy in starting conversations and or helping another creative person share their path? How did I get here? Have you asked yourself that? What happened in my past that put me on this path? It’s an honest question that deserves to your personal attention. How did I become an interviewer? My father! He always told me to, “Shut up.” No matter what the subject, his general rule was to be seen and not heard. I sat closest to him at the family dinner table which meant I was always the first to get backhanded. This isn’t a negative! It never stopped me from wanting to participate, to join in and to belong. I was never out to create an argument! I’m still that way today. I’ll say things to create awareness. Catching a glimpse of my father’s way of keeping things under control has taught me to include everyone in the conversation. To allow all voices to be heard. To collaborate. To be mindful when others speak when as a child I had no voice. Asking questions about your present place doesn’t deserve a shrugging of the shoulders followed by, “I don’t know.” I didn’t know as a second grader at Ponderosa School in Billings, Montana that a personal need to write at 7 years old would one day turn into fourteen podcasts that require pages of writing and preparation. Knowing why the dots were laid out is a brilliant place of being present in your awareness of self. Enjoy the journey of discovery.
