Bobby Follet And Selena Ozzimo

Listen to "Bobby Follet and Selena Ozzimo From Extreme Unboxing On A&E" on Spreaker. Every year, online retailers receive billions of returned items that are then auctioned off in large pallets to buyers. Extreme Unboxing follows a group of pallet flipping entrepreneurs from across the country who bid on these large boxes of returned, discounted merchandise - sight unseen- in hopes of selling the items within the boxes for big profits. Risking their own money to bid on and win the best boxes at the best prices, pallets are delivered to their homes for the big reveal. Each group digs through hundreds, sometimes thousands, of items on the hunt for retail gold. Whether it is one box or an entire truckload, these savvy super-flippers scour the internet searching for their next big money score. With items ranging from everyday store stock to the weird and wacky, this modern-day treasure hunt is filled with surprises as no one, including the buyers themselves, have any idea what will be inside. Viewers will watch as each team bets big and reveals the contents of the boxes for what they hope are big profits. Bobby and Salena focus on selling merchandise they can move easily in their shop--mostly home goods--but that doesn’t stop them from taking chances on huge shipments of bicycles or wedding dresses. Bobby and Salena have two young children and love the chaos that comes with running their own business while providing their community with a good deal and making money doing it.

Casper Ter Kuile

Listen to "Casper Ter Kuile Releases The Book The Power Of The Ritual" on Spreaker. In a time of rapid religious disaffiliation and increased social disconnection, it is possible to find ways to feel truly connected to ourselves, one another, the natural world, and the transcendent through everyday activities. With stories from Soul Cycle and Crossfit, maker spaces, grief and loss groups and others, Casper ter Kuile argues in his first book - THE POWER OF RITUAL: Turning Everyday practices Into Soulful Practices - that those who eschew organized religious practices have created religious communities anew in seemingly secular spaces, and that the practices of reading, eating, walking, resting and journaling can be deepened to become meaningful rituals by adopting ancient wisdom. The crisis of isolation is real as our modern technological society has left too many of us feeling isolated and bereft of purpose. Previous frameworks for building community and finding meaning no longer support us. However, ter Kuile reveals a hopeful new message: we might not be religious, but that doesn’t mean we are any less spiritual. In fact, he says, we are in the midst of a paradigm shift in which we seek belonging and meaning in secular practices. The Power of Ritual invites us to deepen seemingly ordinary practices as intentional rituals that nurture connection and wellbeing. With wisdom and endearing wit, ter Kuile’s call for ritual is ultimately a call to heal our loss of connection to ourselves, to others, and to our spiritual identities. The Power of Ritual reminds us that what we already do each day matters and has the potential to become a powerful experience of reflection, sanctuary, and meaning.

Something Called Nothing

Listen to "Something Called Nothing" on Spreaker. July 31, 2020 Being a daily writer for twenty six years you quickly learn the power it has over everything you’re about to accomplish. If you wake up in a bad mood and put it on paper, there’s a huge chance you’re entire workday will fall into an uncomfortable place. The same is true if you slip into fake Happy Me and everything coming out is spring cleaned and poetic. On this podcast episode the goal is to help open your eyes as to why you need to vent but with awareness which gives you the strength to stay focused in the name of not giving up but reaching for the victory. Today was one of those mornings where I laid out the thought: I’m torn today. Instantly my creative heart shot into action. It wanted to know why the honesty was so willing to set itself up for a chosen mindset. Claiming it was too early to officially declare that we are half way here and half way there. Which is where? What are the land markers? How about the breadcrumbs? Didn’t Hansel and Gretel get into serious trouble because they lost their way? Since March of 2020 we’ve all been forced to live in a world where the seasons change every day. There is so much information and news moving through us that we’ve become blind to how we truly feel. The next step is to make a decision. But wait! First a quick peak at social media. 13,000 children in North Carolina have Covid-19. Why in God’s name am I just hearing this for the first time? The source is WCNC 36. Here’s why it hit me in the gut. This is what a daily writer does. The children have it. My wife returns to the classroom that’s not connected to CMS. I’ve been in a classroom with physical people. Rightfully with her going back, this is our final weekend of the summer. Gulp! No wonder I wrote first thing: I’m torn today. Torn because as a creative person do I stop all things in forward motion and take the day off to do nothing or go about my day just like I’ve been doing through this entire nightmare with Covid? All creative people have one thing in common. Most don’t talk about it. If you don’t feed your creative monster daily, it bites, scratches, cusses and makes up stories that poison common sense. This is why I daily write. To learn about this person like we do in novels and movies. A frickin character! As a writer it’s pretty fun to sit back and see how those in the story play it out. Within seconds your bad mood, uneasy day or giant wall on the path seems to go away. Live your life. Share your story with yourself. Be truthful to the moment of Now. You’ve got this! Even on days when you feel torn.

Play It Forward Episode 93

Listen to "Play It Forward Episode 93 With Red Voodoo And Guest Frank Hannon Of Tesla" on Spreaker. Hey it’s Arroe. This is Play It Forward. A look at the unexpected changes endured by entertainers, writers, camera people and all others affected but not infected by the global invasion of the Coronavirus. Real people. Real stories. The struggle to Play It Forward. Episode 93: The Making. That’s it. Just that simple. The Making. I remember standing at the front door of this Covid-19 journey trying to figure out what to do as a Broadcaster that would keep creative people in front of fans and followers. Because art is such a huge part of my journey I knew there was no way that others like me could shut this stuff off. In building this platform, it’s been the most amazing ride through the experiences others are wading through. In the beginning musicians told me they wouldn’t write. Authors were upset because their book tours were set aside. Actors were horrified that their source of freedom during this new golden era of binge watching would dwindle to nothing. When it all seems bleak and flatter than the earth is said to be… you hear stories. New beginnings. Perseverance, passion, hardcore drive and no fear. So what does all of this have to do with Frank Hannon and Red Voodoo? I’m going to share the full conversation. Uncut. As is. Because it’s so amazing how the world can stop. But you can’t keep the Rock from rolling. That’s Play It Forward. You can listen to the full conversations with these artists on three different podcasts. Marc Hartzman

Listen to "Marc Hartzman Releases History The Big Book Of Mars" on Spreaker. Just in Time for NASA's 2020 Mars Perseverance Launch! This summer, 3 nations are launching missions to Mars, leading Scientific American to dub it the "Summer of Mars," noting that these "missions are a clear sign that the Red Planet has not lost its appeal just yet". NASA has moved it's launch window for Mars Perseverance to July 30-August 15th and The Big Book of Mars: From Ancient Egypt to The Martian, a Deep Dive into Our Obsession with the Red Planet author Marc Hartzman is available as an alternative to science experts and can offer historical and pop culture insights, like: . Why Mars has been an obsession for people from ancient Sumeria and Egypt to the present day. . Who the key players were and their hypotheses n- from the strange to the changemaking . How Mars has inspired pop culture and why it's been a point of fascination for readers and viewers. . With the launch of Mars Perseverance, why continued exploration of Mars is important. The "race to Mars" is our modern-day space race, with NASA and private entities striving to be the first to put humans on the fourth planet from the sun. Yet our preoccupation with Mars and life on it dates back thousands of years, beginning with the ancient Egyptians. Affectionately named "The Red Planet," Mars has drawn countless scientists, novelists, filmmakers, and entrepreneurs to hypothesize and imagine the impossible: life beyond Earth. A lifelong collector of unusual stories, historian Marc Hartzman boldly brings the Red Planet to life in The Big Book of Mars: From Ancient Egypt to The Martian, A Deep-Space Dive into Our Obsession with the Red Planet (Quirk Books; On sale: July 7, 2020; $24.99; Trade Paperback Original). Known as a "leading connoisseur of the bizarre," Hartzman skillfully delves earthlings' relationship with Mars, including its impact on pop culture, space exploration, and hopes for the future, and features interviews with NASA scientists. This wildly entertaining history is fully illustrated with archival images ranging from real-life newspaper clippings to early conceptual drawings of Martians to pop-cultural ephemera like the iconic Looney Tunes character Marvin the Martian. Esther Povitsky

Listen to "Esther Povitsky From Hot For My Name On Comedy Central" on Spreaker. Povitsky goes home to Skokie, Illinois to understand why her unique relationship with her parents motivated her to become a comedian. Documentary footage is intercut with Povitsky’s sharp stand-up, giving audiences a hilarious look into her origin story. She is out to prove that she wouldn’t be the mess she is if it weren’t for her parents. Filmed at the Dynasty Typewriter in Los Angeles and over four different shows — mainly as an excuse for her to wear four different outfits — Povitsky’s material explores deep existential questions, such as why she’s like a slice of pizza in the bedroom, or why her ex-boyfriend’s wife blocked her on Facebook. The special also includes cameos by Christine Taylor, Andrew Friedman and Priscilla Barnes. A fixture of the LA comedy scene, Povitsky most recently starred opposite Kat Dennings in the series “Dollface,” which has been renewed for Season 2. She also co-created, co-starred and executive produced the show “Alone Together,” which ran for two seasons. Povitsky was named one of Variety’s “10 Comics to Watch,” and performed at the Just for Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal, returning to the showcase that launched her career as a New Face in 2013. She’s had recurring roles on “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend,” “Love,” and “Difficult People.” Additionally, she guest-starred in “Brooklyn 99,” Comedy Central’s “Workaholics” and “Key & Peele,” and “Lady Dynamite.”

Life Is The Story

Listen to "Life Is The Story" on Spreaker. July 30, 2020 Life is the story. There I said it. Life is the story. Not the moment. It requires a huge collection of those. Good, bad, predictable and wow even those that came from out of nowhere. Life is the story. I not only live by that rule but I feed off the follow up sentence. Share your story or someone will write it for you. There you go! Now you know why I endlessly reach out to share conversations with every source of creative energy. You’re sharing your story so someone doesn’t have to write it for you. I honestly believe I picked up on that way of life because I questioned our place in people’s lives. Why do we allow other people to write our obituary? It should be a self-requirement. Do it yourself. On this podcast episode it’s my goal to help open your sense of direction by introducing you to a writing instrument. A pen. Not just any pen but one spotted on the ground at the outdoor movie drive inn. Writing instruments are like fallen feathers to me. They find us. This is a true story. The night before a huge Christian concert was held. The branding on the outside of the pen says Health Share Altrua. Got that? Pen. Ground. Health Care establishment printed on side. This is how other people write your story. In my own creative way I saw this pen with a medical name printed on it. It was located on the ground where a Christian concert was performed. First thing I thought was frontline worker. Needed to break away from the daily stress of Covid and took in the word of God at a concert. While reaching for their water bottle on a sizzling Carolina night to take a sip the pen fell from their pocket where a writer spots it 24 hours later. I picked it up at sunset and used it in my daily writing at sunrise. Now you’re here connected to the journey. Life is the story. A raindrop set free on a mountainside always has the opportunity to reach an ocean shore. I want to hear that story. A seed becomes a tree. Forty years later it gives its life to become a sheet of paper. Words or art are placed on it. The expression is shared with the passerby. That’s the story that brings true joy to people’s hearts. Share your story or someone will write it for you. Don’t make up the story. Don’t bend the limbs of an actual event. The empowerment of entering each day is knowing that no two days will ever be the same. Bring forward your change by accepting that your Now is becoming tomorrow’s adventure.

Jennifer Webb

Listen to "Diamonds And Whiskey's Jennifer Webb Talks New Music" on Spreaker. Playroom Management is pleased to announce the signing of country rock band Diamonds & Whiskey for management representation. Combining sounds of the electric violin, swampy undertones and modern country rock riffs, Diamonds & Whiskey have carved out a clear path with keen storytelling lyrics and powerhouse harmonies. Diamonds & Whiskey is led by singer and multi-instrumentalist Jennifer Webb. Her voice, a combination of parlor accoutrements and refined beauty, ranges from rebellious in the “Heartbreak Queen” to fragile in “Wasted on Love” to haunting in “25 to Life”. In “Muddy Water,” a celebrated international hit, Webb’s oozing confidence glides along the slide guitar. Playroom Management Principal Eddie Z is excited to help the group accomplish its goals. Diamonds & Whiskey have garnered several Carolina Country Music Awards, as well as radio play for “Muddy Water” in New Zealand, Australia, Europe and several states. Z’s priority is to continue the momentum and secure bigger opportunities. “I’ve known Eddie Z for few years now and I’ve always admired how he handles business and what he’s been able to accomplish,” Webb said. “There’s a line in ‘Muddy Water’ that says, ‘I can see through muddy water.’ I think in the music business it’s important to seek out a team that believes in you as much as or more than you believe in yourself. Eddie and Playroom Management make things clear; you get exactly what’s promised with him. This is the next piece in the puzzle for us.” “We’re very excited to add Diamonds & Whiskey to our management roster,” Z said. With so many musicians pivoting plans and goals for 2021, it’s going to be a challenge. Jenny doesn’t back down from challenges, nor do I.”

The Lyrics From Billy's Forest Chapter 211

Listen to "The Lyrics From Billys Forest Chapter 211" on Spreaker. July 29, 2020 A two week old fawn and its mothers came within six feet of where I was sitting. I couldn’t take my eyes off the most innocent pair of eyes. I was stunned by their lack of fear but more amazed at how much it felt like they were carrying something much larger than a greeting. On this podcast episode we travel back to my daily writing of July 5, 2020. A moment of question. We were observing Independence Day but we weren’t celebrating it like years past. The best reason we held was social distancing. But that wasn’t the entire picture. The protesting and riots were on the rise during a season already labeled uncertain times. I wrote about going directly to my book of Totems. To study the story behind the visitation. The deer clear had something with them that could be described as being larger than a greeting. When the deer shows up, it means you’ve been involved in some aggressive negative circumstances and need to seek out safe nurturing situations with people. Trust your gut instinct. Present are many different paths. Be gentle with yourself and others. The nation as a whole held onto the images projected across our social media and local news channels. On the day of our nation the rise in protests and rioting was the aggressive negative circumstance. One that very few of us spoke of. We stood on the sidelines patiently trying to wait this out. Now that we’re entering the front door of August it still looms over who’ve become and continue to grow into. Today the invitation is to protect your paths. Your choices. Your actions and reactions. Protect them by being gentle not only with yourself but others. I heard a quote on television last night that can be used as a tool for the potential of there being a place of healing. The day the world stopped was the day we found someplace to go. My response to that in my de-frag journal was, “This new age of freedom is to do all we can not to back to normal. I call it reckless acceptable behavior. We are holding onto it because we temporarily have an excuse for anything that feels insane. We are who we are because it’s been shaped by choice. Make your steps today gentle for yourself and others.

The struggle to Play It Forward. Episode 91: Geese Are Never Swans A book. Written by Kobe Bryant. Talking about the struggles all athletes face during their race to become the best. The reason why it fits perfect on Play It Forward is because of the current sports conditions from high school to college right into the pros. Victoria is the founder of The Hidden Opponent. Pod Crashing Episode 66

Listen to "Pod-Crashing Episode 66 With Dana Schwartz" on Spreaker. Pod-Crashing Episode 66 with Dana Schwartz Many times on this podcast we’ve talked about the evolution of the digital performance. The original idea of your episodes endlessly endure the power of the creative mind by reshaping itself into a journey of chance taking meeting up with trying to catch up. I knew when I started Pod-Crashing that it wasn’t going stand still. Which is why I find tremendous joy in this art form. The canvas never dries. The first 54 episodes were fed by a vision to help share the paint. To be present by showcasing the importance of creating a community with other podcasters while lifting the quality of what we assumed was the best we could do. Adding the conversations with other podcasters has been a true adventure. We all have different stories and experiences and through each episode we grow closer together while making the podcasting world a little safer for the listeners ears. Developing platforms is like Bob Seger singing, “Here I am on the road again. There I am up on the stage. Here I go playing star again. There I go turn the page.” On this episode we’re hanging out with Dana Schwartz. Her podcast is Noble Blood. A new history podcast produced by Aaron Mahnke and iHeartRadio. Noble Blood explores the stories of some of history's most fascinating royals: the tyrants and the tragic, the murderers and the murdered, and everyone in between. The world is full of ill-fated love affairs, bad decisions, and family drama, but for a monarch, the personal will determine the fate of nations. And when you're wearing a crown, mistakes tend to mean blood.

Brandee And Nicco From P Valley

Listen to "Brandee Evans and Nicco Annan From P Valley On Starz" on Spreaker. P-Valley is created by playwright Katori Hall from her own stage play. Down deep in the Mississippi Delta lies an oasis of grit and glitter in a rough patch of human existence where beauty can be hard to find. This Southern-fried, hour-long drama tells the kaleidoscopic story of a “little strip club that could” and the big characters who come through its doors — the hopeful, the lost, the broken, the ballers, the beautiful and the damned. Trap music meets film noir in this lyrical and atmospheric series that dares to ask what happens when small-town folk dream beyond the boundaries of the Piggly Wiggly and the pawnshop. The series is an honest look at a group of women who have agency over their own lives and bodies: with a black female creator/showrunner, “P-Valley” takes the unique perspective of looking at these dancers with the female gaze. The show features a team of all-women directors, and showcases and all-black cast. Brandee Evans, Nicco Annan, Shannon Thornton, Elarica Johnson star as the strip club dancers working down in the Dirty Delta. Who Is In Charge

Listen to "Who Is In Charge" on Spreaker. July 28, 2020 Because I’m a silent wolf. Which is a universal way of saying I’m a people watcher. Making myself aware of all things that become the elements inside our present place, I pay close attention to the waves of energy flowing through each person I meet. We’ve stopped asking questions. We don’t have a problem making decisions. We just don’t ask questions. The making of the zombie. Your eyes are glossy. Your arms hang down. Your shoulders are killing you because it’s become your new walk. On this podcast episode I ask a lot of questions. I rip off the blinders we once wore to get us through the downpours before Covid and we dive into the presence of what can be done in a world where everything is out of control. Wait. Not in your world. It’s all good. Take off the sunglasses and get a good look at what happens to the soil when a farmer takes his tractor and hoe to the edge and starts flipping the dirt. What happens if? We should then ask, “When did it happen?” Why did it happen? How and where did it happen? Thanks to global news outlets and the internet the world is very small. Every event unfolding anywhere on the planet feels like our backyard. Any place can become a hot spot for protests and riots. In that moment of several different sides joining as one, someone’s not asking about the Coronavirus Covid-19. Who’s in charge? I’m not pointing fingers at a president of other global leader. Who’s controlling the chaos? Ask yourself! Is this meant to be a spiritual journey? Are we being tested by a laughing creator? Has something extremely dark hacked into God’s company computer and it’s messing up our streets of gold? Who’s in charge? And in that moment of putting that sentence on paper I heard in my heart, “We are.” We’re making decisions without asking questions. We’re burping up everything wrong without developing a solution. We’re making on demand choices. Living life like we binge watch television. Who’s in charge? We are. Big chance the little ones in your life are asking some serious questions about school and how their new tomorrow is going to look. Do you make up stories to help soothe their wandering hearts? If you’re lucky enough to get through this storm you’re grandkids are going to ask you about the great big sickness and the reason why it spread like wildfire. What will you say when they ask “But who was in charge?” I’m not looking forward to the day when I reply, “We were. And I’m so sorry that we didn’t put focus on making it better.” We are…

I'm Not Moved

Listen to "I'm Not Moved" on Spreaker. July 24, 2020 I’m amazed at how we’ve evolved into a generation where we feel our voices do need to be heard. For some, that’s good. For others? I can still hear my father, “You better watch what you say.” Kids do say the darndest thing! Adults feel like they can just say it. One problem though and we’re going to talk about it on this podcast episode. The further we get into this Coronavirus journey the more natural we are becoming with our emotions. Natural meaning we aren’t taking it anymore. You know, using that high parent like voice that peacefully whispers “This too shall pass.” That fake smile and positive attitude and outlook. We are becoming more natural with our emotions. Reality is getting pretty heavy. The actuality of our daily acceptance is growing thin. As people, we feel we can say anything we want and or make facial expressions that send others into areas they can no longer control. When I pray, write and meditate it’s a daily choice to truly be positive. It’s not fake because the goal is to activate positive not only in my life and anything that I come in contact with. Our imaginations are locked in on inventing trouble. To soothe the situation we hit Amazon or Walmart. Guess what. The deeper we travel into this socially distanced business world the poorer we are getting. We are going to learn the hard way that happiness cannot be purchased. Crap! You mean we have to figure this out? The acceptance of our behavior is starting to get an image. A picture that’s teaching our kids and friends that it must be ok to be mean and or so disappointed with life that I’m gonna revert back to my two year old self and throw a huge fit. Stop right here. Clear your head. Stop. The next sentence is gonna fly over your head and heart. You ready? We are in control of what we say in a world where the pandemic has us out of control. Let me say it again. We are in control of what we say in a world where the pandemic has us out of control. How do we fix it? When you’ve been given the clearance to speak openly the idea of bringing it to a close is almost impossible. Until something happens that could’ve been controlled. We are in control of what we say in a world where the pandemic has us out of control. When employees finally get back to work they’re gonna need to take special classes based on practicing self-control. Businesses are going to need more than sanitizer and wipes. Mental sickness is hitting America and nobody wants to get it under control. We are in control of what we say in a world where the pandemic has us out of control.

Deborah Joy Winans

Listen to "Deborah Joy Winans From Greenleaf On OWN" on Spreaker. Deborah Joy Winans is a member of the legendary, Grammy award-winning Winans family, known as the first family of Gospel music. Despite her family’s musical legacy, Deborah Joy’s first passion was acting, and she only started singing when she was asked to portray her real-life aunt Cece Winans on stage in the musical “Born for This” in 2016. She also played her Aunt Cece in the Whitney Houston bio film Whitney, which was nominated for multiple awards. Now, Deborah Joy plays Charity Greenleaf-Satterlee on the popular series Greenleaf – which returns for its fifth and final season Tuesday nights on OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network. Loni Love

Listen to "Loni Love Releases The Book I Tried To Change So You Dont Have To" on Spreaker. Loni Love hasn't taken the typical path to becoming America's favorite straight-talking girlfriend. She was not the child of Hollywood legends and she never wore a size 00. Rather, Loni grew up in housing projects in Detroit, more worried about how to afford her next meal rather than going on a diet. When she moved to Hollywood after college to break out in the entertainment world, there was nothing that could convince her to eat kale salads and quinoa bowls, which looked like "weeds my grandma used to pay me a dollar to pull from her yard." Still, despite the differences that set her apart in the status-driven world of entertainment, where being thin, young, blonde, and bubbly was sometimes considered a talent, Loni spent years trying to fit in: styling her hair just so, starving herself on crash "health cleanses," dating men she thought she was supposed to be with. In I TRIED TO CHANGE SO YOU DON'T HAVE TO: True Life Lessons (Hachette Go; June 23, 2020), beloved co-host of Fox's 'The Real" Loni Love explores all of the embarrassing blunders, terrifying challenges, and unexpected breakthroughs that taught her how, by committing herself to her own path, she was able to take control of her own destiny. Loni tells the uproariously funny story of how, through mistake after mistake, she overcame the trap of self-improvement and instead learned to embrace who she was.

Giorgia Vanni

Listen to "Giorgia Vanni Releases The Song Bleed For Love" on Spreaker. Powerful, Exciting & Fresh are all words that best describe Giorgia Vanni’s music. Hailing from Rome, Italy, she is a true modern renaissance artist. From a very young age, Giorgia had a uniquely honest way of expressing her impressions of the world through her art, literature and especially music. Giorgia is equally accomplished in all. Her organic sound and exotically powerful voice soon caught the attention of drummer/producer Joshua Seth Eagan, who has worked on Grammy award winning and Grammy nominated records such as Pink’s Try This and Mark Slaughter’s Halfway There. Their wonderful long-distance collaboration opened up a whole new chapter in her life. In 2017 she decided to pack up her bags and move to Los Angeles to follow her dream and share her passions with the world. Once in the studio, it was apparent there was way more to the picture. Giorgia’s able to convey the most intimate and gentle emotions with a sultry and soothing voice, then explode into a fireball with vocals that are reminiscent of her idol Pat Benatar. It’s like capturing lighting in a bottle that you didn’t see coming. As 2020 brings a powerful new record and exciting live performances, one thing shines clearly on the horizon: Giorgia Vanni is a force that will not be denied.

Remove The Divisions

Listen to "Remove The Divisions" on Spreaker. July 23 2020 I’ve always been a people watcher. It’s helped me become a better broadcaster. Studying the real people patterns of those who may listen to your radio show or podcast. To listen to their conversations from a nearby seat. Not nosey! Aware. Becoming part of my community by not speaking. Just listening to what people are saying, watching what they’re doing and amazed by their actions and reactions. On this podcast episode we’re gonna go inside your personal journey. Long before the Covid thunder we were already lockup inside our head and heart. This is who you are in the morning. This is how you evolve by lunch. Then at night this is who you might become depending on the dog, cat and kids. We’ve got to start removing the divisions. People may like the nighttime you but man those in your circle have also got to cherish your morning breath. Remove the divisions. Arroe in the recording studio is not Arroe the daily writer who isn’t Arroe the husband and Arroe the concerned citizen. Remove the divisions. You experience it every day and make the choice to live with it. Those several layers of thought and personalities that go with each. At the drop of a hat your mood changes and sometimes you keep your cool. Remove the divisions. Know how far you can push your cool. In fact why even approach the challenge? Know what you like, dislike, believe in and no longer trust. Today’s news headlines are a torrential downpour on your life and personality. We go to them to check in. To catch up. To attempt to stay ahead. Take that blow torch and remove that smartphone from your hand. We don’t need to know about Johnny Depp in court. He’s not checking his phone to see how your day went. Remove the divisions. Your mind has been overtaken by something bigger than the Federal Cops in Portland and soon to be Chicago and Albuquerque. Albuquerque? When did they become the bad ass dot on the map? Really Albuquerque? Remove the divisions. Start with yourself then let it grow beyond your moment of now. The very second you jump into a new mood or mindset it reminds the world that the TV show The United States of Tara is nothing more than a photograph of who we really are. Remove the divisions and stop disappearing.

Pod Crashing Episope 65

Listen to "Pod Crashing Episode 65 With Jon Walczak" on Spreaker. Pod-Crashing Episode 65 My Conversation with Jon Walczak His podcast is Missing In Alaska Long before the mysterious disappearance of Malaysia Flight 370, the disappearance of a twin-engine Cessna 310 in Alaska carrying two U.S. congressmen captured the headlines. The plane went down in October 1972. A rain storm. Nearly five decades later the cause of the crash and the plane's location - remain a mystery. Missing In Alaska lays out more questions. What happened to Representatives Hale Boggs from Louisiana and Nick Begich from Alaska? Katherine Gehl

Listen to "Katherine Gehl Releases The Book The Poltics Industry" on Spreaker. In THE POLITICS INDUSTRY Porter and Gehl outline how American’s blame political dysfunction – federal, state & local – for limiting and even holding back American competitiveness and our ability to strengthen the U.S. economy. They then apply Porter's distinctive Five Forces framework to analyze the system and offer key areas of NON-PARTISAN change, political innovation, and action that could improve America’s political system and ability to compete globally. Political innovation changes include: Re-engineer the “elections machinery” with Final-Five Voting. This two-step innovation replaces party primaries with a single nonpartisan primary in which the top five finishers, regardless of party, advance to the general election. This allows legislators more freedom to focus on results in the public interest without constant fear of getting “primaried.” It also creates more competition in the general election with a broader field of candidates and the ability to debate borader issues. Re-engineer the “elections machinery” by replacing single-candidate voting in the general election with “Ranked-Choice Voting,” which allows voters to rank candidates in order of preference so candidate who appeals to the broadest majority wins. Re-engineer the “legislative machinery” to eliminate partisan control of House and Senate rules and processes thereby allowing proposed legislation to be debated and voted on. Institute zero- based rule making. Much of today’s political system has no basis in the Constitution at all - the rules are optimized or designed by politicians. Open up competition, without waiting for structural reforms. End the duopoly of political parties – Democrats and Republicans need to operate under a potential threat from competitors.

The Lyrics From Billy's Forest Chapter 210

Listen to "The Lyrics From Billys Forest Chapter 210" on Spreaker. July 22, 2020 Will anyone remember? With so much endlessly being pushed at us in the headlines, will anyone remember that SpaceX blasted two men toward the International Space Station? Will we remember the huge dust cloud from the Sahara? What will the impact of the cloud have on our yards and the mountain forests? On this podcast episode we jump into the subject of what it’s like to be a living thing inside a living thing. The planet. The universe. We are no different than that dust cloud. Each of us are a spec of dust. We’ve collected in circles and continue to push ourselves across this lay of land. Just because we aren’t in the atmosphere doesn’t mean we still can’t participate with future change. In everything we’ve been through in 2020 how much of it is completely natural? The human had nothing to do with the shape of its story. Yet we turned it into a headline. I compare the existence of my forest to our present place in the journey. When I first came in contact with this place on the map it was badly beaten up by acid rain and whatever else big cities invite to the neighborhood. Between 1992 and the present I’ve patiently worked one on one with all things natural to keep this huge collection of trees protected. From understanding erosion to tree diseases that come unexpectedly. While writing I asked “What if I had let nature do what it’s best known for? Instead of reaching out to help rejuvenate the soil, should I have let it replenish itself? As if to generate its own journey.” I compare that to our present way of living with social distancing. Businesses still aren’t open. Not even churches. The experts are feverishly working on relieving the pressure but the elements that make up our business world aren’t participating. Meaning us. All of these deeply dedicated decision makers busting tail to create a path for each of us to return to what feels like normal and yet the roots of what makes a company a success story has very little physical determination to want to participate with the right way to rebuild America. My wife is a school teacher that’s been called back to the classroom for summer school. Her job includes being on the bus to pick up the students. To take their temperature before they climb onboard. Yesterday she watched as other children not going to summer school made fun of those who were going. Today those that were laughed at weren’t at the bus stop. Where are the forest farmers? Where are the leaders that hold people accountable? Having a voice in July 2020 doesn’t have to be a protest where bricks are being thrown into windows that don’t belong to us. Having a true concern for our soil is essential in an age of uncertainty. I talk often with my school teacher wife about the total impact of students not getting an education. I also talk about how a certain area of our forest isn’t responding to the atmosphere and we need to pay closer attention to the trees survival. By 11pm I’m so mentally torched by the process of existence that the game becomes the original question, “Will anyone remember?”

The struggle to Play It Forward. Episode 87: It’s been too easy to get caught up and lost. The headlines are moving toward us twice the speed of light and no matter how many times Google Calendar mentions it’s a new month, every day feels pretty much the same. You can see it in people’s eyes. We’re getting bored with this pandemic. It’s moments of decision making like this that knocks us off the path. Gonna get a little heavier than normal on this episode. Not that opioid addiction, homelessness, injustice and mental sickness aren’t up there in the Top 5 when it comes to things we just aren’t gonna talk about. Johnny Johnson

Listen to "Johnny Johnson From All On The Line On Discovery" on Spreaker. The North Atlantic Bluefin Tuna is one of the most valuable fish in the world with prices reaching as high as $20,000 for a single catch. This also means a tight quota to avoid overfishing and encourage sustainability. To win big, fishermen must reel in the biggest tuna as fast as possible -- but each boat is allowed one catch per day and must reel them in by hand, resulting in a backbreaking battle that can last for hours (these monster tuna can weigh more than 1,000 lbs.) With the livelihood of their families on the line and generations of tradition behind them, these families of fishermen will rely on each other and work together towards a shared goal. In Discovery’s new series All on the Line, two crews in the fishing town of Gloucester, Mass., are fighting to land monster tuna and keep their family businesses going through the winter. As the weather worsens, the fish get bigger and the stakes get higher. It’s the ultimate battle of man versus beast as these fishermen risk everything to bring home a monster payday. All on the Line spotlights the dynamic between these two groups as they band together in an industry that otherwise demands fierce, sometimes cutthroat, competition. A former Grateful Dead road crew member, the legendary, loud and larger-than-life fisherman, Johnny Johnson, assembled a tight-knit crew in his hunt for record tuna. Touring with the band in the early 80s, Johnny saw the world before ending up in Hawaii where he discovered yellowfin tuna fishing. Chasing the biggest and best is in his blood as his Dad holds the world record for the biggest catfish. More mythical force of nature than man, Johnson has his sights set on catching the biggest bluefin tuna the world has ever seen.

I Don't Have To Know You

Listen to "I Dont Have To Know You" on Spreaker. July 21, 2020 Wow! It happened! After six months of quarantine and social distancing, I finally made it back to lecturing. It was so different! The energy, the motivation, inspiration and drive to help others locate their creative success was very much on fire. Different in the way of being up there and seeing so much space in between each person. Different in the way of how the acoustics had changed. Different in the way of preparing creative minds for a business world that seems to be nonexistent in July 2020. On this podcast episode we look directly into the eye of a purpose driven question, “Is the path in plain sight?” Rather than utilizing the strength of acceptance, are we electing to reinvent? To chase what we assume. To point out our view without truly recognizing that the right path is in front of us. There’s a sentence that was overused during the opening chapters of this pandemic, “This too shall pass.” I’m not hearing it anymore. Because it’s not passing! The human refuses to stop writing what it thinks should be the rules. We are getting in the way of other people’s success and have no problem with the outcome. Seriously? I totally grip the idea of how most of us discovered our inner strengths at the birth of Covid-19 but to physically keep others from getting the opportunity to go back to work or school? I’m not gonna turn this into a statement to wear a mask. But we did during the lecture yesterday. No air conditioning. 95 degrees. Heating index at 103. We wore the mask. Why? Because we all agreed to take care of each other. To be present in our daily dose of awareness. If you don’t have Covid you should feel blessed. I now know three people who’ve been diagnosed and the fear I hear in their voices literally kills my soul. I asked them to write the story. To create lessons to teach. I invited them to become the voice. Why? Because those of us who don’t have Covid aren’t getting the message through. The goal is to endlessly ask about making the transition of turning the experience into a message for the wild kingdom of humans. It haunted me badly yesterday when North Carolina went over the 100,000 mark on people having the virus. Then they followed it with, “We’re just getting started.” I ask again, “Is the path in plain sight?” Why are we trying to write the rules? Here’s how I was personally affected by yesterday’s first time lecture in six months. Personally the experience was truly a blessing from the universe and the connection with other creative minds is the most incredible experience. This morning. I’ve cancelled everything I had planned outside my house. I’m uncertain with other people’s decisions and today the subconscious needs to repair. Think about that as you prepare to go back to work. How will being back affect and infect you? Being truthful with yourself without creating a false face front. I am so proud of the frontline warriors and all others that weren’t told there was no timeout in their job. Report to work at all costs. What you face daily must be ripping your soul or you’ve become extremely numb. Tell the story. Be the leader. Teach America what to expect when workers are allowed to return to the public. I didn’t have anyone to prepare me for the day after. Go into your next journey knowing how much it will get into your head in the days that follow.

Stephen Haff

Listen to "Stephen Haff Releases The Book Kid Quixotes" on Spreaker. Since 2016, the students have been collectively translating Don Quixote into English. With the help of dozens of dictionaries and the approval of acclaimed Don Quixote translator Edith Grossman, they are adapting the 400-year-old Spanish tale—a story about a traveling dreamer who never gives up—into a bilingual musical based also on their own lives. Six-year old Sarah tells of her mother’s journey across the desert from Mexico riding on the back of a tiger. Alex, a very private teenager, sings her coming out song to standing ovations. As the kids perform their work, they deliver a message of diversity, love, hope, and resilience essential to us all. “People in the audience have told me that the performances lifted up their hearts, made them laugh, and moved them to compassion,” explained Haff. “The kids have said that after performing far and wide in college classrooms and government offices they now feel they belong, in the worlds of higher education and civic power; they belong in this country.” Drawing from his experiences inside and outside the classroom, Stephen Haff developed a new teaching method using AA meetings, Quaker prayers and psychotherapy to create a more empathetic and collaborative way to learn. In this welcoming environment, all agreed that there would only be one rule: “Everyone listens to everyone,” a rule that has unlocked spectacular potential. Kids as young as five and as old as 17 arrive at Still Waters in a Storm, an after-school program in a small room in Bushwick, Brooklyn, where they practice reading and writing in English, Spanish, and Latin. For the students, many living in constant fear of deportation, Still Waters is a refuge. For Haff, it is the sanctuary he built following a breakdown caused by bipolar depression Written with the same collaborative spirit that fills Still Waters, Kid Quixotes is both an inspirational memoir and expert examination of the power of translation, listening, and education, including in its pages a variety of voices and stories that often go unheard. About the Author: Stephen Haff is the founder of Still Waters in a Storm, a one-room school serving Spanish-speaking immigrant children in Bushwick, Brooklyn. Previously, he taught English at a public school in Bushwick for nearly a decade. He earned his MFA in Theater Studies at Yale, and has made a living directing plays and writing essays for the Village Voice and other publications. Stephen lives in Queens with his wife, children’s book author Tina Schneider, and their three children.

Asking For A Friend

Listen to "Asking For A Friend" on Spreaker. July 17, 2020 My wife got really serious with me this morning. Sitting on the sofa while I was daily writing. I could tell by her facial expressions that something wasn’t in a positive place. I laid down my writing instrument and prepared for her message. Looking directly into my eyes she very calmly began, “I’ve been thinking a lot lately. This analogy has come to me and I think it should be shared.” Honestly, I was really starting to embrace for what my assumption was painting as horrible news. She continued, “Covid-19 is like Kevin Bacon. As of today. Everybody is seven degrees of separation with it. Meaning, we all know someone who has Covid-19 or has had it.” On this podcast episode we dive deep into that very subject. Covid-19 is our modern day Kevin Bacon. We all know someone who knows someone who knows someone. This isn’t meant to be a Debbie Downer moment but rather a message of awareness. I can’t believe I wrote message. I’m not preaching here. Not my job. Awareness. Due to the strength of the media we are no longer in control of the way we think therefore our actions and reactions are physically being controlled by outlets making key words their story. I have two great examples on this podcast. REM the band. Two songs. It’s The End Of The World As We Know It and Losing My Religion. The titles formulate an opinion and or emotion in your mind body and soul. The titles! Now let me toss in these headlines. Twitter Hacked Affected Obama, Biden, Bill Gates, Kanye West And More. Millions of Twitter lovers and haters tapped into that headline doing all they could to not get the story but the dirt. Everybody wants dirt. To be the first to own the dirt. To compare our dirt to their dirt. The media! You’re under their spell. We all fall for it every day because it’s an addiction. My dirt isn’t moving or empowering but it woke me up. I’m back to normal. What? Yeah. After my daily early morning walk through the forest with Jazzie I stood in the dining room looking at our beautiful table. The very table where we once played a lot of card and board games during the opening moments of quarantine. The very table where my wife and I once shared breakfast, lunch and dinner every day. Yeah, that table where we’d sit during Zoom and Google Meet conversations with family and friends laughing about anything and everything. We’d get together with other teachers and play games. That’s where we once did it. On that table. Back to normal. Oh! Let me share something with you. It’s The End Of The World As We Know It and Losing My Religion. The lyrics from both songs truly have nothing to do with the image your imagination generated the moment the words came into play. Just a title. Just a headline. How are you doing these days? Are ya back to normal? Asking for a friend…

Directed by Will Addison and featuring: Linda Hamilton (The Terminator), Bryan Batt ("Mad Men"), Dwight Henry (Beasts of the Southern Wild), Ben Matheny (Assassination Nation) Best buds, Jack and Scottie (Ben Matheny and Matthew Martinez) are going nowhere fast in their crumbling, Mississippi hometown. They have big dreams and no prospects. When the friends learn of hidden loot in sunny California, they decide to take their shot at the American Dream. However, when their hometown criminal matriarch "King George'' (Linda Hamilton), hears of the windfall, she sends her personal bounty hunter/daughter, "Blue Eyes" (Susan Gordon) to chase them down. Broke and out of gas, Jack and Scottie attempt to drive off with "borrowed" fuel... and wind up staging an impromptu hold-up. The bungled job saddles them with a whiney, accidental hostage named Collin (comedian Cory Dumesnil) and lands them in the crosshairs of a cocky Texas cop and world-weary sheriff (Bryan Batt and Dwight Henry). With no turning back and two thousand miles to go, they have no choice but to rob their way across the Southwest... with the reluctant assistance of Collin. Now the good times are rolling as the ragtag trio's anti-heroics bring about an unlikely friendship with a blossoming Collin. All the while, Blue Eyes and Johnny Law are closing in. It's gonna be a guns-blazin', car-chasin' race to the finish! Check out the trailer here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yVDNuISP_m0&t=

Daniel Wesserbly

Listen to "Daniel Wasserbly Releases The Book The 300" on Spreaker. At a time in history when nuclear weapons are easily available, and certain global leaders have eschewed rationality while possessing hair-trigger tempers, the fear of a nuclear attack is as high as it's been since the height of the Cold War. Who protects us from what could be our certain demise? Having the most powerful military force on earth is some comfort for citizens of the U.S., but only to a degree. Any launch of an Inter-Continental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) could result in countless lost lives, damage to property, and a way of life that might never recover. Standing in the way of our nation being harmed are roughly 300 men and women of the U.S. Army's 100th Missile Defense Brigade and 49th Missile Defense Battalion. In his new book, Daniel Wasserbly, editor of the renowned military journal Jane's International Defence Review, has written a first-of-its-kind examination of this small group who work in secret to watch the world and keep us safe: THE 300: The Inside Story of the Missile Defenders Guarding America Against Nuclear Attack (St. Martin's Publishing Group, on sale June 16, 2020, $28.99 US). North Korea, with actual nuclear capabilities, currently sits atop the watch dog list of rogue nuclear nations. Kim Jong Un is both a loose cannon and a calculating demagogue. Consider this: A missile launch inside North Korea would take slightly less than 30 minutes to arrive in Seattle. Within that 30 minute stretch there is a 7-minute window from the time the inbound missile crosses over into our interceptor missile system's third radar horizon. Testing has shown that the first two minutes and the last two minutes of that seven-minute window are statistically very bad for an intercept. Now, it really comes down to a 3-minute time frame in the middle. Just 3 minutes to save the country from nuclear disaster. Would Kim Jong Un actually ever consider a nuclear strike or is it all just a bargaining chip? For decades the U.S. had been virtually powerless to truly stop an incoming missile attack. We've relied on NORAD and U.S. Northern Command buried deep under a granite shield in the Cheyenne Mountains. The attacks of 9/11 and the growing threat of rogue nations like North Korea and Iran, let alone Russia and China, changed the thinking. Our best hope for stopping a nuclear catastrophe rides with a three-pronged Missile Defense system in our military. Wasserbly shows how, spearheaded by the Missile Defense Agency in Virginia, the years of testing by those two MDA's divisions have set up the U.S. for what may be our only best hope to deter disaster. In 2004, despite political wrangling, the U.S. moved forward with the Missile Defense Agency. Time and money were spent establishing this unit in Fort Greely, Alaska, and Schriever Air Force Base in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Testing on advanced interceptor weapons had as many roadblocks as successes. This unique 300-personnel unit took on the task of developing a system with the near-impossible objective: destroy an inflight ballistic weapon aimed at the U.S. Under the leadership of Richard Michalski, Dave Meakins and Michael Yowell, et al, in Colorado Springs; Greg Bowen and Mark Kiraly, et al in Alaska; and, Ron Kadish, Trey Obering and James Syring in the Virginia headquarters, the fate of 300 million Americans were in their hands. From desolate fields in the Aleutian Islands of Alaska to the mountains of Colorado their engineering brain trust struggled to perfect this system of highly advanced, sensitive, and at times, unreliable technology. After a decade-and-a-half, they have created a shield that can successfully protect our nation. Their slogan, "300 for 300 Million." Daniel Wasserbly had unprecedented access and dozens of exclusive interviews, combined with years of research to craft their amazing and heroic story, one that will allow us to sleep better at night knowing these brave men and women are on watch.
