The Lyrics From Billy's Forest Chapter 60
Listen to "The Lyrics From Billys Forest Chapter 60" on Spreaker.
As children we'd sing the song that dealt with being in the place where the deer and antelope play. I always dreamed of being there in that moment. To watch jump, run and wrestle. As I grew into adult shoes I learned how families in Montana didn't see deer as I did in my heart. Taking their fire sticks the layout of actions became a game of chase. I was always laughed at for not being a deer or antelope hunter. Today my forest is blessed with a family of deer to which I greet each sunrise for breakfast and a bite to eat each afternoon at 430 before they disappear into the trees for the night. I don't see too much playing like the childhood song suggests. I do though get to stare into their eyes and watch them stomp their front right leg into the earth. Their white tails wave without the wind and their noses always seem to be sensing the availability of change. Why so much interest in deer? I see it as God in forward motion. Taking the time to study the elements around us puts visions in your heart of how true God is to all living creations. Even a slug sliding beside a puddle of water that just fell from the sky.
