Jack Brewer

Jack Brewer was born on January 8, 1979, in Ft. Worth, TX and raised in Grapevine, TX by Rosa and Eddie Brewer. His teenage years were unfortunately faced with racial tension, however Brewer rose above adversity and used that as motivation to start his advocacy for racial inclusion, equality and the rights of the poor. He attended Grapevine High School where he was a top student graduating with a 3.9 GPA, All-State athlete and record setter in football and track. After leading his high school to its first State title in its 90-year history as well as setting State track and field records, Brewer went on as the first person in his family to graduate from college, starting at Southern Methodist University (SMU) where he was a freshman All-American Candidate in football and a Disney World Classic Record Holder in track.
Transitioning off the National Football League (NFL) playing field in 2006, Brewer pursued a career on Wall Street as an Investment Advisor with Merrill Lynch's Private Client Group where he raised over $20mm in assets under management (AUM) in his first year as an investment advisor, ranking in the top one percentile in his class across the firm. Following that role, Brewer went on to serve as the Managing Director at Paramount Bio Capital, one of the United States' largest private biotech-focused investment banks, from 2009-2011 where he helped close two NASDAQ public offerings in his first year as an investment banker. During that time, he also helped launch Opus Point Partners, a healthcare-focused hedge fund, where he raised the seed capital at the fund's inception, consistently producing double digit returns throughout the fund's history.
Since 2002, Brewer has been regularly involved with the production of numerous documentaries, television, digital media and radio broadcasts domestically and internationally, as well as continues to have an ongoing presence in print media. Brewer serves as a regular contributor and writer on many major media networks including Yahoo Finance, CNBC, Fox Business, Fox News, CNN, News Max and the American City Business Journals where he provides his expert analysis and opinion on a range of topics from finance and global development to sports, education and politics.
Additionally, he produces various symposiums, art exhibitions, documentaries and publications highlighting global development issues including his roles as Associate Producer of "Resilient Hearts", a documentary on the history of Haiti leading up to 2010 Earthquake (2014), Executive Producer of "We Are What We Eat", the United Nations first-ever art exhibit highlighting global food security (2016) and a featured author in the "UN Chronicle magazine of the United Nations "Sport Aims for the Goals" Volume (2016) and is currently Executive Producing "Tackling Recidivism" a deep, non bias dive into the private and public prison system from the eyes of socially conscious NFL legends who have dedicated their lives to finding solutions to criminal justice issues, to name a few.
Brewer transferred to the University of Minnesota where he continued to excel both academically and athletically, earning several honors including: Academic All-Big Ten, Carl Eller Defensive MVP Award, Paul Giel Award, First Team All-Big Ten by Media, All-Big Ten in Track and Field, was team captain on the football team and earned his Master's degree in Sport Management at the age of 22. An entrepreneur by nature, Brewer successfully balanced his full academic load and college sports with running his own marketing and event management business which he started at the age of 19 years old. He has four children, Jared, Laesha, Jackson and Zayah.
Brewer earned his Bachelor of Science (2001) and his Masters in Sport Management (2002) from the University of Minnesota, all while playing Division I football. Additionally, he has completed Executive Business Programs at Harvard School of Business (2005) and the Wharton School of Business (2006), and is currently pursuing his Masters in International Affairs from Colombia University. Brewer recently completed the Executive MBA program at the University of Miami (2016) where he is spearheading the Brewer Sports International education program to be the largest post-secondary degree program in professional sports, having graduated over 50 current and former professional athletes with their Executive Masters of Business Administration degrees. Currently Brewer serves as a professor at the Gabelli Business School at Fordham University where he leads the newly launch Executive MBA Program for Athletes and Artist (2019).
In 2011, Brewer turned his business focus solely to his company The Brewer Group, Inc. (TBG) (www.thebrewergroup.com), a boutique impact investment and consulting firm, and active member of the United Nations Global Compact, specializing in investing and advisory for small growth companies making a positive impact around the world. Brewer continues to work tirelessly to build and leverage his vast network of established relationships with key international decision makers and influencers spanning government development agencies, financial institutions, multinational corporations, NGOs and numerous leaders in sports and entertainment.
In his current role as CEO and Portfolio Manager, Brewer manages TBG's portfolio which has included over 200 completed transactions totaling over $150mm through its various business lines and a number of private and public holdings spanning a variety of industry sectors. For over a decade, Brewer has been continuously originating, structuring and facilitating comprehensive strategic investments and partnerships, and leads numerous multinational companies to become leading advocates at the forefront of some of the world's most pressing issues. Surrounded by a team of dedicated professionals, Brewer spearheads and executes ongoing global economic development and social awareness initiatives to help multiple clients gain access to emerging and frontier markets domestically and internationally, including throughout Latin America, Sub-Saharan Africa and Asia. Brewer has held FINRA Series 7, 66, and 79 securities licenses as well as various state insurance licenses.
In addition to his international business endeavors, Brewer is also a passionate humanitarian whom has been dedicated to fulfilling his mission of "Empowering from Within" since his childhood, including over two decades of advocacy work in the U.S. focused on underserved African-American youth. He is the Founder and Executive Director of The Jack Brewer Foundation (JBF Worldwide https://thejackbrewerfoundation.com), a 501(c)(3) which since 2006 has been using its various programs and global initiatives to offer educational opportunities and economic development to underprivileged individuals around the world, using sport as a catalyst. To date, JBF Worldwide has delivered over $70 million in medical aid, supports over 35 orphan care centers, has helped deliver sports equipment to over one million underserved children and helps bring medical care to over 10,000 women and children annually around the world.
