Mike Mostert
Listen to "Breaking Down The Lyrics With Mike Mostert Of GoGo Tuner" on Spreaker.
The inside sleeve of the albums I collected as a teen were priceless to a budding radio jock addicted to sharing the story of those inviting their music forward. There was always a brief bio sitting next to song lyrics and tons of pictures. Each carried their own tone. One problem though. It was always my interpretation. Which to someone like Dave Clark was exactly where he wanted to take fans and followers. Set the music free and let it have a life of its own. AM/FM radio in the 1970's and 80's was nothing more than a gallery. All this art hung up to dry but no true connection to the resurrection as to why the carefully crafted words came into being. Casey Kasum and Dick Clark were aging out. Joel Witburn books were too expensive and bookstores sold mindfully edited music adventures that spoke of the musicians but never of the in between. So when I get the opportunity to break down the lyrics with the creative path behind planting the first seed, the goal and or mission is to help preserve a moment that becomes long gone and forgotten if the artist is constantly locked in forward motion. Not everybody likes to talk about the process of music exploration and song building. Sometimes I feel like I'm walking into an extremely personal moment protected by a creative minds guard because another day of pain isn't what anybody needs. I believe in the mantra I live: Share your story or someone will write it for you.
