A captive imagination. That would say a trapped or imprisoned form of wanting to express. A captive audience is no different. Unable to leave. I’ve always believed in the spirit of free form, doing all I can to not be held up or held back by what appears to be impossible. Yet at the same time the goal is to captivate the audience as well as the imagination. That has a completely different message. To get something from. Captive versus captivated. Many times we feel like we can’t break free of a great binge watch because it’s so captivating. The opposite of all of this is where so many paths disappear. Lost interest, failed faith, a lack of ambition and or reason to participate. Becoming aware of the layers introduced sends information to your subconscious. The decision is made to stay present or allow your captive imagination to remain locked in a circle of constant behaviors. While losing interest where does the heart take its next step? How much are you willing to invest? On a personal level would you rather be captive or captivated? During the early part of the millennium I was captive to my art on a canvas. I couldn’t break free of the paint because I wanted to be in galleries. When it happened I couldn’t handle the judgement. Does that mean the 28 years I’ve put into daily writing is a captive imagination? No. I pull things from it. To build, replenish, to understand then share. That makes it captivating. Now it’s your turn to locate the truth in your journey. What’s keeping you from finding your voice?
