Just 5 Minutes

How often do you take note of how your mind doesn’t want to be activated? Is it happening more these days than any other time? Or you’ve recognized what it’s like to be at work with what appears to be a slower sense of expectation. No matter how much you’re struggling with trying to stay free of the headlines or staying off social media, the information overload warning light is blinking like lightning from a summertime thunderstorm. Your thoughts aren’t being mentally flushed. Just because you might be talking to a friend or family member doesn’t mean the mind body and soul are letting go. One of the main causes is how the job front has changed for millions of us. So much time and energy was invested in a career and because of the current state of the world those dreams and ambitions have put your energy at a job you never saw yourself doing. More importantly during times you once saw as being the weekend. Two days off! 48 hours! Not so much anymore. Maybe a day here and a day there. For me, my weeks come with no days away. Therefore I’ve learned to use hours as that break. Our homes have changed. Once upon a time in a land far far away we loved our homes for its warmth, togetherness and security. Today our homes are your business, your child’s school and even church. Your home is a small town hidden behind four walls. No wonder the mind doesn’t want to be activated. You’re not giving it enough space to replenish. The sub conscience and conscience mind aren’t agreeing with your present place in the now. So no brain activation for you! It’s completely natural to feel like you need a reward. Reports show those moments of relief are still present only in different shapes and forms. You don’t need a blogger and podcaster to remind you to keep your watchful inner eye on what your vices have evolved into. The goal today is to activate the mind. To believe in the purpose. To be available and fulfilled. To write can right. To locate five minutes to read a book will right. To listen to meditation music will right. To sit alone in the car without anything playing will right. Five minutes. Give your mind a daily discipline of this time is mine. It’s your reward for showing up. Five minutes. As we evolve during these unexpected challenges and changes the first step of your everyday is to recognize your new beginning. Be grateful of the neighbor’s dog barking. Be available to pick up a sheet of paper that’s been blowing in the wind for a couple of days. Say hello to the mail carrier. From out of nowhere step up to the cash register at a grocery store and give a person of 65 or older five or ten bucks. Smile then wish them a great day. 5 minutes. The truer more rewarding gifts to yourself are there. Learn to be you in a very strange world.
