Play It Forward Episode 100
Listen to "Play It Forward Episode 100 What's Going On" on Spreaker.
Hey it’s Arroe. This is Play It Forward. A look at the unexpected changes endured by entertainers, writers, camera people and all others affected but not infected by the global invasion of the Coronavirus.
Real people. Real stories. The struggle to Play It Forward.
Episode 100: What’s Going On?
I didn’t leap into the podcast circle to write, produce and interview famous people about a global pandemic. I mean come on! Back in March and April of 2020 this was supposed to be a temporary setback. Hosting a podcast feature called Play It Forward was designed to be heard for maybe 15 episodes.
And yet here we stand. Number 100. Have we even moved an inch?
Millions of front line and essential workers have put themselves so far out there that the total cost of their daily sacrifice exceeds the term priceless.
The most creative people on the planet anxiously await for that hard to locate green light. Permission to return to their personalized stages.
Gyms, restaurants, movie theaters, schools and entire countries like Australia remain closed.
But you know that. Which is why it’s so difficult to put this 100th episode together. Who would my guest or guests be? I mean, to bring up Covid-19 while interviewing someone is still one of the scariest things to do. I hold close to my heart those who were on my podcast to promote a new album, movie, television show or book and they hated the idea that I brought the subject up. Oh I’ve been yelled at. Scorned for being a buzz kill during their time of promotion.
So why do a podcast like this? The reasons are through the roof with the two most important decisions based solely on making sure listeners are extremely up to date with the current struggles of those who’ve been there for them during their up and down times. Entertainers who had been instantly ripped off the stage and placed in a box.
And number two. Being a creative person with one billion things going on at the same time. I know how the process of art lives and breathes. Nothing keeps an artist in silence. What they’re doing today is moving, shaking the path, building new platforms and masterminding a plan to lift their passion and drive to newer level of expression.
Talking with them is purely designed to help everyday people, moms, dads and students, anyone who has been hit in the gut with this moment in history and can’t seem to pull their dreams back together. To live vicariously through the struggles of trying to play it forward.
So, as we reluctantly celebrate the presence of this 100th episode. I can’t help but ask what’s going on? Some have written that the end result of this will be an art driven renaissance. The music will change. The movies won’t be the same. The books will somehow have to bring up Covid in the storylines and you. Yeah you. What’s going on?
We used to laugh and joke about how each day felt the same. Couldn’t believe how fast we moved through spring. Got a 12 hundred dollar check from the government. Grew deeper into uncertainty with the protests and riots. Opioid and alcohol abuse are at an all-time high. What’s going on?
You are the guest on this 100th. Not to guilt trip, judge, compare or ghost. I just think it’s time for you to stand up and stand out. That you aren’t being ignored or set aside until Once Upon a Time becomes Happily Ever After.
You… it’s your turn to be recognized for being a fulltime homeowner with a new degree in teaching kids you thought you knew at home. You who’s trying to figure out if going back to an office way of working is worth it. You… the one endlessly inventing new things just to see if anything sticks.
It’s time to hear from you. You still have a voice. You still have a creative heart. You still plan things out and deliver the best you can. Just because you love to binge watch television doesn’t mean you have to be silent. I heard a quote a couple of weeks ago. When the world stopped we all had someplace to go.
So…what’s going on? Where’d you go? Share your story or someone will write it for you.
That’s Play It Forward. You can listen to the full conversations with these artists on three different podcasts. Like Its Live, Unplugged and Totally Uncut and View from the Writing Instrument found on all digital platforms.
