Episode 13: Metal Meets Movies Taking On What Would Robin Do When you think of Heavy Metal Thrash music the last place you might search for the sound is Salt Lake City. Lost Asylum has been ripping many club walls to shreds with their spot on stage presentation and hardcore vocal vibrations. Like all bands the Coronavirus forced them to pull the bus off the road. When did they know it was finally time? Maude Garrett is a global giant when it comes to reviewing movies. This week she’s letting fans of the flick know there’s a free place to keep your binge watching alive. It’s called Tubi. Being part of the movie movement how does she see Coronavirus playing out for local theaters? The Lyrics From Billy's Forest Chapter 195

Listen to "The Lyrics From Billys Forest Chapter 195" on Spreaker. For many of us we've entered the state of experience where we are beginning to compare the path to other days on the mountain. I first started documenting thoughts about the Coronavirus on March 8, 2020. I was pretty much like everyone else about not wanting to run from the falling sky but to stay in touch with the possibilities of being tripped by a cloud. One of the things we see on social media is how each of us are dealing with social separation. From binge watching to getting our news watching under control to spending more time on digital face to face connections. On March 8th the writer was more interested in trying to figure out why the Stock Market was crashing then understanding how desperately we needed a cure. And in those days that have passed we've learned how many law makers cashed in on their investments to keep from losing their financial foundations. One of them being Amazon's top dog Jeff Bezos. On this podcast the atmosphere of how I was going to be putting words down was rapidly changing. I couldn't just show up and free form the energy. It was time to document the presence of Now. And in those paragraphs I did ask where God is in all of this. The writer wasn't losing faith. He wanted to make sure that whomever anyone believes in now might actually be the time to remove yourself from self needs and begin a path of needing to serve. On March 8th the author didn't know that on the 31st the nation and globe would be looking at another 30 plus days of isolation. And what have we learned? Can I openly admit that its proved to my inner mind body and soul that if my wife and I ever truly wanted to get into the RV and go away forever we'd really get along in a very fun way of loving to be in love with all things while reaching out to help rebuild platforms others are clinging to to stay above the water. Never more in my life am I ready to be present in the now when its time to free ourselves from the isolation and get out into the world to pull others back to the shore. Your turn. Hello? Are you there? What's life like on your side of mountain? Hello?

Play It Forward Episode 12

Listen to "Play It Forward Episode 12 The New Voices Part One" on Spreaker. Hey it’s Arroe. Welcome to my new podcast series Play It Forward. A look at the unexpected changes endured by entertainers, writers, camera people and all others affected but not infected by the global invasion of the Coronavirus. The goal is to feature two different types of episodes. The individual conversations as well as a collected array of the entire picture. Real people. Real stories. The struggle to Play It Forward. Episode 12: The New Voices Part One. Over the past several years I’ve had the incredible opportunity to share multiple conversations with those who’ve poured their souls into making music and now they’ve earned a spot on NBC’s The Voice. This time around can’t be compared to any other. Each singer/songwriter performer in their own way has seen a swift change in life due 100% to how the Coronavirus has completely shut down every walk of life. Michael Todd Hall is a passionate 50 year old Rocker who’s reached beyond the limits and stepped onto the world’s most famous stage. Away from the music he’s been in charge of the families manufacturing company. In essence he’s been hit by two stones. With so much experience with music as a whole an experience like this opens the door for him to help up and coming artists strapped down by the silence. Joanna Serenko saw this moment on NBC’s The Voice as being the total showcase. What happens when the weekly competition moves closer to the live performances? How does she see that playing out? Keeping in touch with fans and followers. Popularity is the name of the game. Mike Jerel is a true southern soul setting free his gift of performance. Like so many he’s realized how thick the wall of silence really is.

Pod-Crashing Episode 49

Listen to "Pod-Crashing Episode 49 Not Open For Business" on Spreaker. Pod-Crashing Episode 49 Not Open For Business Here we sit. Week number two of the Great 2020 Coronavirus meltdown. One by one the bigger cities are officially declaring their boundary’s closed. As people are forced to stay inside the President teased us on Monday March 23rd that he was ready to put America back to work by Easter. I felt hope. Like maybe he knew something and within minutes we’d all be leaping on the streets celebration like they did when WWII was announced over. Where’s the girl and the guy with that famous NYC kiss? Hold it. Let’s look at this. While local authorities are buckling down to flatten the curve the nation’s top dog has latched onto a thought picked up on Fox News, “We cannot let the cure be worse than the problem itself.” I was present in my living room when those exact words dropped from his lips. One problem. The one number that none of us know is the official count of how many men and women in America wouldn’t be here today if we hadn’t stepped inside for a couple of weeks? I grasp where the President’s coming from. The Stock Market isn’t recovering and lawmakers barely agreed to the two billion dollar recovery package. That bright beautiful spot in American financial history is headed straight for the days of some of the darkest times not only on our soil but globally. Which brings me to a question I brought up to scientist Bill Sullivan, “Will we see a change in the Super Powers?” Kind of an odd subject right? Now more than ever you’re services as a voice in America is being called into action. We pretty much know only six percent of the people avote during the elections but one look at every social media platform and the human heart and drive is caught up and botched by a fear of allowing your inner voice to be heard. I talked with M. That’s all we need to know about her name. M isn’t a happy girl because she feels the only people via social media doing any talking are the trolls. The real voices and energy behind them are trapped in their homes right now binge watching Schitts Creek. Podcasting is the truest form of connection without having to be boarded up and stifled by a connection with a corporation and or government Coronavirus crackdown. They want you off the streets not off the air. RollingStone Magazine was quick to push forward a story about the President’s announcement of wanting to put business back to work. Their headline? Trump, in Tweet Says He’s Considering Plan That Would Kill A Lot Of People. The magazine believes as many as 9.4 million people would simultaneously be infected at the time of the peak. Which means there’s no way hospitals can accommodate that presentation. RollingStone printed these words: Hundreds of thousands would die without access to treatment. How you feeling about hosting that podcast now? I mean if there are 900,000 of them already pushing thoughts, emotions, jokes, cooking and beer making, what about one more that comes from the physical streets of it’s about to get really bad? But is it? I sat down with Ralph from the Heavy Metal Band Ravenscroft who had no time calling out the media, “This is hype. It’s sensationalism.” Wait! That’s what the President said the other day about NBC’s Peter Alexander? Talk about a public hanging! Never once in that reshuffling of exchange of thoughts did I feel the television reporter was putting his companies ratings hunt in front of the American people. Let’s go ground level here. I’m not saying get a podcast and let the planet it take a verbal beating. The door is standing wide open for your voice to have a place. Yeah it’s tough right now and it’s probably going to break your foundation of success into pieces. You need to be heard. To empower different groups or individuals. To use your experiences during this Covid-19 stoppage as a tool. In the words of Madonna the virus has equalized us all. Business leaders teaching each other how to rebuild. Regular everyday people who might have found prayer or meditation during the down time hearing from those who’ve been doing it for decades. Mothers and Fathers with children trying to keep focused on homeschooling. Truck drivers pushing their rigs across the nation with nobody else in the cab. No need to verbally take pot shots at the Speaker of the House, the President and his side kick or anyone else serving their community in office. That part of the playing field already has enough armchair quarterbacks. Use this downtime as a platform you to talk about being part of a Garage Band, what it’s like to sell pre-owned cars in a down economy, a reaction to the message each week at church or how to be a better Uber or Lyft driver. Think longevity. Don’t dump your entire process into one episode. So what’s the moral of the story? Go for it! Yep. Just do it! Make it til you break it. Don’t worry about reinventing the wheel. Find a few hours of focus and stand taller than what you were yesterday. Yep it’s a pain in the ass to keep up but man the payoff has a way of keeping you out there longer the last complaining session you had with a coworkers or neighbor. We’ve all hit some rough water lately and how you’ve turned it into a swimming adventure is an incredible display of making your voice be heard. I’d love to hear a podcast where RollingStone Magazine readers actually talk about their reaction to the stories published. For years I’ve sat on the sofa or at a desk and pretty much agreed or disagreed with the reporter all by myself. We can change this.

That One Tool

Listen to "That One Tool" on Spreaker. I've made it known over the past three weeks that an evolution of change had to be experienced during this unpredictable time of challenge. I've never hid the story of how living in the present is my way of walking. Being mindful of the moment. Grateful for all things in any shape and size. Reaching that point hasn't been simple because there aren't too many teachers, only books that lay claim to the importance of it being. Since March 10, 2020 I had to make a hardcore move toward making the presence of now even more available. My blogs and podcast episodes of years past have always been the experiences and thoughts of several years before. I fermented the process because in order to grow from it all things that make up the atmosphere had to be lived. Today is different. Without a net the words, sentences and paragraphs go from the field to the store. Imagine how you'd feel knowing that what you're presently living inside this Coronavirus world didn't have time to mix in with yesterdays delivery of headlines, personal struggles with questions and musicians that screamed at you because the interpretation you offered during a conversation of celebrating a new album ended up being two sides of a creative fence. How do you take that and learn from it. From today's writing in this moment of now that's the subject of this episode. Louder than the virus itself I can't help but believe in the days that follow there will be a huge hole slammed into the souls of those making art. Nobody wants their voice, pictures, expressions and explanations to be connected to this place that's consuming our everything. And yet through art the world grows. What is that one tool you need to be holding? Use it to reconstruct tomorrow.

Todd Riley

Listen to "Comedian Todd Riley Something's Stolen His Stage" on Spreaker. I wanted to call this podcast episode so many different things. The Monster That Ate Up Todd Riley's Stage to Todd Riley Rebuilding Todd Riley. In the four years I've been talking with Todd the comedian has always been the most down to earth conversation. It's always been about the art of taking words and creating an emotion inside the heart of someone you just met and you'll probably never see them again. I mean isn't that what the live comic stage is? I'm going to let you abuse me for your enjoyment. I won't break. I've got another show in thirty minutes. Then along comes this invisible monster that somehow someway got past our Godzilla radar and it silenced a ton of creative people. Todd isn't going to loaf around on this one. He's put too much time and energy into the crafting of his words and delivery. It's one of those moments that we had to document because one day we won't remember but at least we recorded it.

Living In A Bread Box

Listen to "Living In A Bread Box" on Spreaker. One of the toughest things about this Coronavirus shut down is trying to convince my creative self that no matter where it all comes from the energy moving through each of us has to be activated. Not when you're in the mood. Not when you feel depressed or lonely. Creative energy doesn't know there's a pandemic taking place. It just knows how you've always given it a place to grow. And when you're creative space isn't given a stage or voice it begins to eat away at the inner core of your mind body and soul. The scenes continue to change. How we watch the news, listen to music, binge watch television to taking with friends on the phone. Through a plastic screen. But as people we cant be hidden away by way of holding back on the truer emotions. Sadly we are. It reminds me of an old episode of The Jetsons. The mother really didn't want to be seen on their space age communication boxes so she put on a plastic mask. Riding the edge of our emotions needs to be unlocked because our normally open 4 walls feel like a bread box. How is your spoken word? Are you sharper in your conversations not so patient to listen? We're all suffering from hidden discomfort. Standing here in 2020 I know why my Master in Martial Arts led me toward meditation. I didn't get it. I hated it. It was embarrassing to be in this place with others doing something I felt should be kept private. The energy from that day never left me. It guided me to look deeper into the history and its presence in our Now. Meditation is like prayer. It's unbelievably private. Its like asking someone what they did in the bathroom. We just don't do that. But with the openness of a moment we are out of control of those who have relied in privacy on the tools that have invited peace need to step out onto the streets of everyday and help build a place where peace can live not just in their life but the eyes on the opposite side of this screen. A thought came to me in prayer this morning. So many people are looking for God's presence in all this. Here's what my writing instrument put into the veins of the living tree. In this moment of Now the presence of God or the Universe is in the senses we were given at birth. Sight doesn't always have to be the golden ring. This Coronavirus is an invisible monster. God has to be invisible to defeat its strength. Look for your peace in every one of your senses. You're life will change.

Eric Roberts

Listen to "Actor Eric Roberts from The Movie Inside The Rain" on Spreaker. College film student Benjamin Glass (played by writer-director Aaron Fisher) has it all: ADHD, OCD, borderline personality. And he's also bipolar. But Glass is more than his diagnoses - he prefers the term "recklessly extravagant" -- and he's determined to prove his genius. When a misunderstanding threatens to expel him from college, Glass pushes back; he plans on recreating the incident on video, with the help of a moonlighting sex worker (Ellen Toland), to clear his name. But how will he raise the money for the film, when his parents dismiss the scheme as another manic episode? Inside the Rain, is a wincingly funny rom-com-drama, anchored by offkilter performances by co-stars Fisher and Toland. The colorful ensemble cast includes Rosie Perez as a tough love shrink, Eric Roberts as an unhinged film producer, and Catherine Curtin and Paul Schulze as the long-suffering parents. The ultimate underdog film and proof that if you believe in yourself, anything is possible. Here's the trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pnipglMA46s

Meg Butterly Radio

Listen to "Meg Butterly Radio You Can't Stop The Broadcast" on Spreaker. While the nation continues to slide into a complete Coronavirus lock down Broadcasters aren't easing up on their connection to the community. Although Meg and I were in separate places technology has allowed us to keep the podcast pumped up and moving in forward motion, This week we've got a fair share of real world experiences while mixing it up with things to love and laugh at. Grocery stores with employees standing outside making sure your experience is clean and smooth. Friends that once thought this was just the flu are singing a new tune. How much should we bunker down and what are creative people doing to keep their art on display? It all seems pretty serious but when Meg is on the microphone there's always going to be a better day waiting for reason to locate an up.

Hows It Going On Your Side Of The Planet

Listen to "Hows It Going On Your Side Of The Planet" on Spreaker. They keep telling us that we are universally connected by way of the Coronavirus. I guess I trusted too much of that because wow we're not on the same page. Madonna shares a video of how she thinks Covid-19 is a great equalizer. No person is safe. She's pretty much calling all people out. She's doing it from a bathtub filled with what looks to be filled with flowers and other essences but the meaning of the message should be carried forward. My interpretation of the video was 100% without a doubt a form of prayer and or meditation and she happen to be setting free the message from the universe with her eyes wide open. But it's become somewhat of a joke to others who don't understand the reach. We are being equalized by something we can't control. Why does that have to be the butt of a joke? Many of us have reached areas of our mindset that couldn't be predicted but we can keep it running forward. I don't want to call it a depression. I just know what low feels like. I keep trying to compare this to a movie. Nothing comes to mind. We aren't seeing zombies, ghosts or enemy war planes. It's not about the Baby Boom Generation, Gen X or Z. It's not about Millennials. Its about the world being equalized without man made wars. So how's it going on your side of the planet?

Episode Eight: The Doubter, The Daughter and The Food Taster… In all things that unfold there’s always going to be a line drawn in the sand. Although science has proved Covid-19 true, not everyone’s buying into the sudden shifts of change. We know our guest only as M… Not that she doesn’t want to be known she just doesn’t need the trolls. Please remember I went into this conversation as a journalist. Saying what you feel on social media has never been a fair game. You think you’ve got something people can relate with then from out of nowhere people attack your point of view As for being on the brink of a new age in American poverty. Myra Goodman’s new book Quest For Eternal Sunshine is out. She’s sharing the story of her father. She’s taken note of how her father learned how to survive and how many of his techniques could be used during this coronavirus shut down. Alight let’s lighten it up a bit. Before we wrapped things up I totally had to make a new age coronavirus prediction. That’s Playing It Forward I’m Arro

Bill Sullivan

Listen to "The Lyrics From Billys Forest Chapter 194" on Spreaker. Book promoter Peter Marchese once said to me, "I love the idea that you can't tell the difference between a brilliant wine and a cheap one. The people picking up this book will be no different than you. Which means I need your everyday person questions. Experts talking about what experts know is the first step toward disconnection." Why wouldn't I want to share a conversation with an authentic scientist about who, what, where why and how this thing Coronavirus is. Two weeks into this journey and the only thing we're getting are cloudy press conferences and reports with no room for real people to ask questions. Rather than turning off the 5pm news what would happen if "real people" were invited into those areas of well planned out leaders running for office this November? Decision makers are only as smart as the person standing next to them reminding the politician to cover this and that and make sure the real questions aren't approached. Don't ask me to interview the politician. I want to see the Mother of three trying to home school her child on computers they barely know. I want to see the father who thought his career was a solid foundation and now getting back onto the workforce could land him at McDonalds taking orders. Thanks to Bill Sullivan for answering my "real person" questions.

The Lyrics From Billy's Forest Chapter 194

Listen to "The Lyrics From Billys Forest Chapter 194" on Spreaker. In all things I'm doing not only as a daily writer but as the host of numerous podcasts I have followed my heart to make sure I remain in the presence of the present. Being mindful of the moments. Grateful for the daily sunrises. Which means what? Since 2012 my podcasts have featured the paragraphs and sentences of past experiences. We learn more from a past that's been documented then we do trying to trust the shape of a memory. The Lyrics from Billy's Forest are a collection of free form thinking moments brought to the center of the page while sitting with nature in whatever forest is present. On March 8, 2020 the first mention of the Coronavirus was put into the weaves of the paper. I can physically see, feel and hear his questions but have no clue as to where the writer will be in the moments ahead. I dropped all the writing before this page because as the month of March continued to take its shape 146 nations had something in common with no answer as to how we as a human race were going to deal with a new age guessing game. This isn't a buzz kill podcast but one that reflects what the writer was sifting through while the universe spoke softly by way of nature being present in the Now. Pretty deep right? Not until you realize the number of religions outside of Christianity that know how important the animal kingdom has been to the humans survival. Our egos drove us away from the circle. Look whats happening today. Take a walk on a path through a park or sit in your yard with no radio or television on. The animal kingdom knows. I guarantee you one thing. No human in these 146 nations overcome by Coronavirus is touching and loving their pets the way they were nearly a month ago. The kingdom knows. God is using the animals to keep us focused, loved, understood and more importantly welcome in a time of no answers for any question. Somewhere in March of 2020 there sits Noah.

Play It Forward Episode 7

Listen to "Play It Forward Episode 7 The Hot New Song, Party Planner And Actor" on Spreaker. Modern day journalism with no rules. Real people. Real stories. The struggle to Play It Forward. Episode Seven: The Hot New Song, The Event Planner And The Actor Jaki Nelson and Joey Suarez jumped into the new decade anxiously looking forward to the global release of their debut collaboration Never Coming Down. The first month out #16 on the charts and clubs had gravitated toward its rhythm. The threat of Covid 19 changed everything. SXSW was the first major music festival to pull themselves out of the entertainment game. How does a move like that repaint the stage? The entertainment community needs to unite but there’s always going to be that feeling of what if? Moments like this… Is this where great songs are born? Over the weekend I came across a FaceBook entry from Chef Andrew King who works with CE Rental Charlotte. His post was clear, “For everyone complaining about working at home or having a bad time still employed. Stop this isn’t about you. Andrew and his entire staff of party creators were laid off. The business side of entertainment. Learning how to play it forward is a new game for Andrew. We know we are a week into the run. The longer this goes how hard it will be on our mind body and souls? Michael Beach has enjoyed a fair share of movie and television success. His latest stories have included If Beale Street Could Talk, Truth Be Told On Apple TV+ and Cherish The Day on OWN. What now? Creative struggles usually turn into much larger success stories. Being part of this Coronavirus interruption is it buying him enough time to dig deeper into the picture as a writer or someone behind the camera. That’s Play It Forward I’m Arroe

Jennifer Steinhauer

Listen to "Jennifer Steinhauer Releases The Book The Firsts" on Spreaker. In January 2019, the largest number of women ever elected to Congress was sworn in—87 in the house and 23 in the Senate - this was a dress rehearsal for the 2020 primary and general election. Democratic women won largely on painting the GOP as incompetent especially around health care. This history-making Class of ’19 included many remarkable firsts: the youngest woman ever to serve; the first two Muslim women; the first two native American women, one openly gay; a black woman from a nearly all-white Chicago suburb; and a Hispanic woman from a heavily Republican border region. In many instances, these were the first women and/or persons of color and/or youngest persons to serve from their state or district. Veteran New York Times Capitol Hill reporter Jennifer Steinhauer has been following this historic transition from day one and in THE FIRSTS: The Inside Story of the Women Reshaping Congress (Algonquin: March 10, 2020), she uses her rare vantage point to take a behind-the-scenes look at these newcomer’s individual and collective attempts to usher in real change in Washington

John Ryes Davies

Listen to "John Rhys Davies From The Movie I Am Patrick" on Spreaker. I Am Patrick is a a feature-length docudrama that peels back centuries of legend and myth to tell the true story of Saint Patrick. Through historical re-enactments, expert interviews and Patrick's own writings, experience the journey from man to saint. SYNOPSIS In the 5th century, the Roman empire was collapsing, and barbarians threatened civilization. In Britain, a teenager named Patrick was living a comfortable life as the son of a government official. Despite being part of the Roman Catholic Church, his faith didn't mean anything to him until he was kidnapped by pirates at the age of 16 and enslaved at the edge of the known world - Ireland. For six years, Patrick was forced to work as a shepherd and was driven to the brink of starvation. It was there that he turned to his Christian faith and through divine intervention managed to escape. He was reunited with his family in Britain only to have a prophetic dream calling him to take Christianity back to the land of his captivity. Against the wishes of his family and the Church, Patrick returned as a missionary bishop to Ireland and converted thousands to Christianity. He opposed slavers, Irish kings and possibly Druids but nothing compared to the hostility he faced from his fellow Christians. After a close friend exposed a dark secret of Patrick's, it is believed he was ordered to leave his mission and return to Britain. Patrick had to choose - obey God or obey man? Grow With It

Listen to "Grow From It" on Spreaker. Long before we began to see how fast life can change they were already in the midst of the journey in other sections of the world. There's no way that I was the only one that doubted this! I was convinced in my heart that God wouldn't bring what they're saying to our front door. Here in the states we're entering our second week of a strengthening uncertainty. Most have turned off the news. Binge watching is the new norm. My wife and I take a lot of walks and have gotten really good at playing card games. On this podcast I step up to the microphone of transparency. More than last week we're gonna need the power of a giving God, Universe, Yahweh or whatever you have placed in the core of your path moving forward. Being aware of what is and isn't a false platform of certainty. FaceBook is proving to be the global release. I challenge you to turn it around. Don't air your dirty laundry. Grab a notebook and write a letter to your child's grandchildren. I've also noticed the importance of binge watching television. It feels pretty darn great at two, three and four in the afternoon. Twelve hours later I was in bed wanting my digital drug to make the world great again. Growing with it doesn't mean to locate ways to shove all of this to the side. It's learning about yourself and others around you. How you're handling the stress filled moments versus the lighthearted laughs and itty bitty jokes about a very bad time in our history. I've spent time talking with friends on the telephone because what we once had that made us close had drifted to the side and the current situation has reunited our hearts. Grow with it. Our vocals are going to change in the days ahead. Each sentence will start to turn downward and come across as a low moment or disgust with the administration. We don't need a rise of the people. What we need a growing community of perseverance and leadership made possible by each of our personal steps on a journey completely out of our hands. Don't try to doctor it. Grow with it. Let it move through you by way of always walking with peace.

Pod-Crashing Episode 48

Listen to "Pod-Crashing Episode 48 Who Do You Support" on Spreaker. Pod-Crashing Episode 48 Who Do You Support As the Coronavirus continues to increase its presence globally, a lot of speculation and self-designed predictions are making their way to social media. I spent today disconnecting from Jesus Freaks and Political fire starters vowing that the U.S. Government is going to slam us into a wall of Martial Law making this nation a new land ripe for a dictatorship. Can we just stop? Social Media is feeding the veins of thought and emotion that’s causing a lot of listeners and readers to stop participating with the volunteer distancing. Look… I don’t know what the right walk is. As podcasters we have the right and privilege to be whomever we bring forward. It doesn’t matter whose team you’re playing for just get the facts first. Then fact check yourself again and again. Then ask yourself “Is this really where I want to be with my podcast?” Back in the early episodes of Pod-Crashing I warned listeners that this would be an awkward year for hobbyists and professional podcasters because some of the decision makers and messengers would begin spread their message on their stage. Joe Rogan just got sideswiped. I don’t know if he was bothered by it. The headline and story didn’t say. Because of Joe’s support for his rightful positions in life Representative Alexandra Cortez walked away from supporting Joe’s pick for the Oval Office Bernie Sanders. I sat up straight when I read the article because over the past 8 years or even 41 years of Broadcasting have I personally endorsed a candidate or cause that would influence a decision maker to walk away from offering their gifts for a greater need? I recently started a new podcast series called Play It Forward. It puts focus on every creative person affected and not infected by the Coronavirus. Two of the conversations I shared are hardcore in your face balls to the wall politically motivated by the influence of the guest. I showed up with a microphone to get the story not support the movement. They’ve yet to hit the platform. Podcasting can be played safe or dangerous. What you personally put up there can disappear from your site easily but by the time you catch up to common sense your RSS has planted that message everywhere. I totally grasp that we are exercising our freedom of speech. How many podcasters fully understand what that means and how it operates? What you say or share always has the potential of inciting an emotional connection or change. Are you really ready for the world to come after you? In a recent interview with Kesha on Lets Be Real Podcast she flat out told the host how focused she needed to remain on what she was doing and saying. Here’s the thing. The more we stay locked up in our homes and studios because of the Coronavirus, the more podcasters could become the new voice of an already changed world. Ultimately it’s up to you to make the right choice. Do you really want to be the voice or the journalist? There’s a huge difference! So what’s the moral of the story? You hold a lot of power and don’t know it. You might be getting 20 to 30 hits for a little hobby as host but it only takes one conversation to turn it into hundreds of thousands. There’s a reason why terrestrial radio has several layers of decision makers to keep the on air talent in line. As a podcaster you are the final decision and if you aren’t in the right mindset it could start the next fire. This isn’t about getting numbers. This is about a weakening world affected by an uncontrollable virus and people will soon hit a level of believing anything they’re told. What are you putting out there? If you start a battle because of an uneducated opinion or challenge should you be held responsible for the state, national or global reaction? Almost like the person that dropped the hot match onto the extremely dry forest floor. Are you ready to pay the price?

Play It Forward Episode 6

Listen to "Play It Forward Episode 6 The Movie Reviewer, Rap Artist And Entertainment Promoter" on Spreaker. Modern day journalism with no rules. Real people. Real stories. The struggle to Play It Forward. Episode Six: The Movie Reviewer, Rap Artist And Entertainment Promoter Sometimes I think the best way to share the story of the entertainment world suddenly becoming silent is to talk about the pictures of what life looks like at the NY Stock Exchange when rock bottom has been hit. Ryan Jay is best known for his national reviews of Hollywood’s newest releases. The way he’s playing it forward is by taking the same steps the rest of us are. There are a ton of television shows, movies, documentaries and other priceless shapes of entertainment on Disney+ Netflix, Hulu and more. Ryan’s finding a silver lining. One subject that comes up a lot is based on how single people are making their way through this current season of change. What’s the one thing Ryan Jay could love to see come out of this? Canadian Rap artist Mo Littles was set to perform at SXSW. They were the first major festival to pull away from the performance. He was quick to find something he didn’t have much of. As for being down in the dumps or facing writers block? Entertainment Promoter Jody Glisman Best never misses a beat. She’s always on the street making sure the writers, producers, musicians and actors she represents is up close and sharing stories with on air talent all over the world. Not by fault but listeners on this end of the entertainment industry tend to forget about those making it possible for us to see, hear and experience brand new music, movies, books and more.

Matt Richtel

Listen to "Matt Richtel Creator Of An Elegant Defense" on Spreaker. With uncertainty and risk surrounding the Coronavirus outbreak, it's more important now than ever to understand the complexities of the human immune system. Author and Pulitzer Prize-winning New York Times journalist Matt Richtel, author of the book AN ELEGANT DEFENSE: The Extraordinary New Science of the Immune System (now in paperback), can discuss in depth the current Covid-19 situation, including: · How our immune system responds to viruses like this one Doctors, like immunologist Anthony Fauci (who Richtel interviews in the book), are now trying to understand what is happening with the immune response to COVID-19. One apparently common area between this virus and the flu is that doctors see an initial spike in immune cells, called lymphocytes. Then, curiously, there appears to be a sharp drop off, particularly in those who are older. Why would the immune system wane in older people? All systems seem to degrade over time. More specifically, the immune system can lose balance over time, almost like an elderly gymnast trying to walk a balance beam. This is also why people with underlying conditions are at risk. They have tasked their immune systems such that the defenders in the body either over-react or under-react and thereby disrupt the most delicate balance going on in the lungs. · The delicate relationship between the immune system and the lungs COVID-19 is a lung infection at its core. And lung infections present our immune system with a mega-challenge. Why? The lungs must be very absorbent to take oxygen in through air sacs and get it to the body and brain. Otherwise: instant death. The immune system walks the finest balance here - needing to allow particles inside so we don't die, but also must react quickly to protect this delicate tissue. Sometimes, the immune response is a touch off balance, and it can be catastrophic. Therefore many of the deaths in the ICU that appear caused by pneumonia or respiratory disease are actually caused by a flooding of the lungs of immune cells. The disease provokes the immune system and it reacts with excessive zeal. · The danger of COVID-19's slow onset One powerful observation coming out of the medical community regards the slow onset of the virus. We get a little sick, mild illness that hangs around, then intensifies and intensifies. It's as if your immune system gets swamped, and then the lungs flooded with disease to the point where you cannot breathe. This stands in contrast to some viruses, where our immune system kicks in. This suggests a couple of things. That we have zero built in immunity as a population to this germ (Richtel can talk about why this is and what it really means when the human immune system encounters something new). And why people, when sick, need to so stringently follow the science about supporting their immune system. · You must try to keep your immune system in balance Richtel can elaborate on how to do this - through sleep, exercise, and nutrition. He also warns against trying to "boost" your immune system, and can explain why products that claim to do that likely won't work anyways.

Ryan Jay

Listen to "Just Another Day With Ryan Jay Episode 32020" on Spreaker. I can't imagine a world without the digital platform. As much as I love local television and support their programming we are quickly learning that the 5 o'clock news kind of drama isn't a great feeding ground for people starting to feel like they're trapped in a new life and style they're being forced to live. One problem. How often do you hit Netflix, Hulu, BET+ Disney+ and others and literally ask, "What do you want to watch?" This week Ryan Jay Reviews Little Fires Everywhere with Reese Witherspoon and Kerri Washington. Spenser Confidential with Mark Wahlberg. Stargirl on Disney+ and the film All The Bright Places on Netflix.

Freedom From The Bunker

Listen to "Freedom From The Bunker" on Spreaker. I put myself there. A crazy thought. To think that in this present place of the Coronavirus that we are trapped. A feeling of being imprisoned, hidden away in a bunker or locked in a safe room somewhere in the world where others can't see. As a creative mind I had to free myself from such thinking. Yes California has pulled their people in but the Mayor of Los Angeles clearly stated that they are not locked down. They can still walk about by way to hitting the store, getting exercise and bathing in the sun. On this podcast I continue the walk through the daily writing which is positioned in December of 2016. I'm still convinced that who we are right now on March 20, 2020 is an experience and story for a different time. Who you are. What you are doing. It's for a future self that's going to need this friction on the path to build a newer presence in that persons present. I bring this up because the daily writing from December 2016 is speaking directly into the heart of our now. He doesn't beat around the bush. It's honest. It serves as a great motivator. A path for some. Sure we are getting a lot of family time during this pandemic but what we aren't focused on are the moments where you want to be left alone. Your time. Your space. Your visions and decisions without having to include a second and third party. Marriage is a partnership not ownership. Be strong with yourself by respecting everything you are and it includes that walk by yourself. I keep a de-frag journal where I do nothing but free form write. My wife is checked out and I'm checked into doing what I do. You can't stop being you or you're going to feel like you're in a bunker, imprisoned or lost on a mountainside with lions, tigers and bears. Oh my!

The goal is to feature two different types of episodes. The individual conversations as well as a collected array of the entire picture. Modern day journalism with no rules. Real people. Real stories. The struggle to Play It Forward. Episode Five: The Actor, Newsman And Children’s Book Author Oscar nominee Eric Roberts has been part of the Hollywood movie scene for decades. This weekend was to mark his first film of the year. Although AMC is one of very few major theater chains still in action Inside the Rain is about to make it red carpet debut on Pay Per View. He wasted no time putting fans first. ABC reporter Dan Abrams has made a household name for himself not only the network but front the entire time on Live PD and authoring several historical books that have covered the journeys of Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt and now John Adams. We laughed a little about what it’s like to release a book during a pandemic then he took us into a moment of saluting those on the front line. When I sat with Kate Messner to talk about her latest National Geo For Kids book Solve This Forensics I had no idea how deeply dedicated she is to our children who are literally locked out of schools and libraries due to the Coronavirus.

Chris Anderson

Listen to "Chris Anderson From Investigation Discovery's Reasonable Doubt" on Spreaker. With their parallel expertise of the law, Anderson and Silva know that the system doesn’t always get it right. Each episode of Reasonable Doubt begins with the loved ones of the convicted presenting evidence of their innocence. Anderson and Silva then set out on the intense process of re-examining a murder case, poring over evidence, interviewing witnesses and consulting experts previously overlooked by police or barred by the court. Each episode culminates with the gut-wrenching reveal to the family that either brings hope for an appeal, or clarity to accept the guilty verdict. "A Shot in the Dark" premieres Tuesday, March 17. In 1995, a small group of friends were hanging out in a house in Roanoke, Virginia, when a gunman in a black hoodie burst in and shot a drug dealer named Eric 'Nike' Jones. The killer left no clues behind. One witness stepped forward nine days later, claiming she could positively identify the shooter -- another local drug dealer named Michael Crump. Problem is, it was dark, and the witness had a serious eye disease. Retired homicide detective, Chris Anderson, and criminal defense attorney, Fatima Silva, have been called in by Michael's mother and sister, who are convinced that he's an innocent man. Detective Sergeant Chris Anderson is a retired homicide detective for the City of Birmingham Police Dept., where during his 21-year tenure, he spent 17 years as an investigator. He has investigated more than 300 Homicide cases in one of America’s most dangerous metropolitan cities. Fatima Silva is a criminal defense attorney practicing in the Bay Area of California. Her practice areas include criminal defense and personal injury. In her spare time, she coaches a high school mock trial team.

Who Will you Meet

Listen to "Who Will You Meet" on Spreaker. My wife and I have adopted this new flight plan of taking longer walks with our beautiful dog Jazzie. Jazzie loves walking to the top of the hill to watch the chickens behind the fence. She doesn't chase or spook them. She stands there just watching. Looks over at us and showcases the most brilliant dog smile on the planet. Then we make our way down the hill and right back up another we've labeled Heart Break because of it's tilt on the planet. Two weeks ago none of this would've been taking place. A new person in all of us is growing. Here's what I find inspiring. The daily writer from December 1 2016 must have known. On this podcast we go back to those pages and see how who we are today is a messenger for tomorrow. Which makes me want to get personal for a moment. Who will you meet? The world will not be the same when this Coronavirus is over. You won't be the same. Who will you meet? I've never hidden my desire to write. The multitudes of paragraphs that are escaping the walls that once held it back is like water flowing through a stream. Yeah life sucks right now. But does it? On the other side of this will you find little notes you left for your future self? And when you bump into the older self in ten to fifteen years after the virus will the messages you set free still be talking? Who will you meet? I guarantee one thing. Who you are after waking up today isn't anywhere close to who you were last week at the same time. Who will you meet?

A New Age Of Aloneness

Listen to "A New Age Of Aloneness" on Spreaker. I'm not sure what vibe your picking up but I took note of an uncomfortable feeling while watching last nights eleven o'clock news. All the anchors were on separate cameras. Sitting together at the desk is what we did last week. A new age of aloneness has entered our walking space. Social Distancing has been enforced without gifting us with enough time to practice for it. I understand why so many cities are having difficult times trying to get everyday average people to pull themselves inside. They aren't! The mind body and soul require human contact and connection and the thought of sitting in my recording studio all day felt good before the Coronavirus but now that I have to do it. It's eating away at every reason why I create. To participate with. To belong. To build with or rip apart. A very good friend asked if I wanted to take a walk through the Green Way. I didn't let an invisible second slip by before I firmly replied, "Absolutely not." On this podcast we venture into my daily writing of November 2016. Right away I talk about the idea of moving through a past that's already happened. It's not living in the past but learning from the past. On this particular day I was reminded of a lesson taught by Steven Furtick about Looping. We are expected to return to different areas of our life because we'll see the situation through different eyes. Like the daily writing. What I was living in 2002 or 16 isn't how its received in 2020. Dan Abrams

Listen to "Dan Abrams Releases The Book John Adams Under Fire" on Spreaker. In time for the 250th Anniversary of the Boston Massacre, Dan Abrams, the country's foremost expert on American jurisprudence, delivers the first ever in-depth look at the trial that singlehandedly changed the course of the American legal system and the very foundation of our country. With John Adams Under Fire: The Founding Father's Fight for Justice in the Boston Massacre Murder Trial (March 3, 2020; Hanover Square Press; $28.99), nationally bestselling author Abrams gives a curated view of a Founding Father defending his enemy for the good of a young nation. When the Boston Massacre happened on March 5, 1770, John Adams was a 34-year-old up-and-coming attorney, and in the name of justice, gambled his career on the most controversial murder case of the day. In John Adams Under Fire, Abrams and co-writer David Fisher draw on the largely forgotten trial transcript, using Adams' own words to transport readers to colonial Boston, a city roiling with rebellion. Abrams looks at the trial through the lens of the entirety of American history, using his expert legal mind to stress important revelations, including: . The first use of "reasonable doubt" in legal history . The first ever sequestration of a jury . The pieces drawn from the British legal system . The early precedents for what would become our modern legal system The longest trial in history at the time, the legal proceedings after the Boston Massacre put John Adams in a public spotlight that he would never relinquish. He knew that in the burgeoning nation, even the worst people must have access to a fair trial.

That’s when I dropped the interview and we got into an area of the everyday world that humanized one of the greatest songwriters of our time. I yet to meet the creative soul that sees any of this as the end of time. Not even the extremely popular psychic and medium Matt Fraser.

The Lyrics From Billy's Forest Chapter 193

Listen to "The Lyrics From Billys Forest Chapter 193" on Spreaker. From out of nowhere I tend to bring up a thought that sort of kicks a comfortable walker of their path. Without explanation I'll send a text or bring forward in conversation, "Where's your God?" It's not to challenge their beliefs! Not to signify that something Holy isn't being seen. It's just my way of asking, "Where are you in all of this?" A gut check of sorts. A reminder that serves no purpose other than to build a stronger pair of legs carrying an unexpected load of fresh weight. On this podcast we leap into that question by way of reminding the walker that our present place and state have been lived out before. The only difference is that we can see in the pages their physical beginning, middle and end. Not so much in this current place of Now. Psychologists say that's why we're buying everything. We've got this unbelievable void in our life and it needs to be filled by what we think is a positive and or a layer of comfort and security. Where's your God? I didn't say the Christian God. I said your God. Where is that source of the rising river arriving from? We wake up to a new day everyday. Five seconds on Facebook and the entire emotional system is overtaken by how this is affecting everyone. Not a particular group, rich or poor, old or new, everyone. With no true outcome. Not yet. Where's your God? The greatest leaders in business can't forecast this. There's not one shred of research available for anyone to study. What's your outlet? Where are you going when you feel good one second and in doubt another? Where is your belief in the medical connections? Have you taken note of how the world isn't talking about war or corporate takeovers? Millions are working from their homes. Talk about a learning curve. To be focused and just as dedicated like you're in the office. Brush your teeth. Comb your hair. Put on a business suit. Play the game. You wouldn't be so free to say anything if you were locked to that daily desk. Disciplining yourself during a time where this could actually be your new self. Where's your God? Mine is pushing these computer keys. Being present in a wall that doesn't come across too heavy into the verses but rather an experience that participates with the recovery of our Now. Where's your God? Don't leave home without it.
