Sack Of Lions
Listen to "Sack Of Lions Releases White Lightning" on Spreaker.
Sack of Lions and Sower Records are pleased to announce that White Lightning, the band’s sophomore album, has entered Billboard at No. 1 on the Heatseekers West North Central Chart. Fueled by the breakout song “Calling for Rain”, the album also charted No. 23 on the Americana/Folk Album sales and No. 33 on the Country Album sales for the week of June 10.
“Seeing your band’s name next to a No. 1 is pretty amazing,” lead singer and songwriter, Dan Olsen, said. “We’re so grateful for our fans and the passion they have for our music. We are ecstatic.”
White Lightning, the bands’ follow-up to 2015’s Pine Box, is a culmination of the unpretentious beginnings that cultivated dreams since realized. Strong in presence and even stronger in content, “Calling For Rain” boasted over 40,000 streams and downloads in the first two months after its November 2018 release. Sack of Lions introduced introduce the 12-track album May 31, 2019. Sack of Lions—Dan Olsen (vocals, guitar), Dylan Wade, (bass guitar) David Callins (drums) and Phil Reno (lead guitar)—calls the Omaha, Nebr., area home. With undeniable chemistry and impressive relatability, they’ve found a natural, free-form creative process in building each song. From modest beginnings, the foursome has emerged into the musical landscape—peppered with country, blues, bluegrass and Americana—to share captivating stories of exhilarating love, devastating loss, and simple “livin’ life.” Memorable melodies top off heartfelt lyrics from a group of musicians who reach out to make genuine connections with their fans, one town at a time, one song at a time.
They’ve supported such standouts in the Americana and country-folk universes such as Charles Kelly (Lady Antebellum), John Michael Montgomery, Cody Jinks, Granger Smith, Kane Brown, Jeremy McComb and a slew of other notables.
The band’s name, simply a quick decision made en route to a songwriting contest to work alongside Rosanne Cash, has no deep meaning. But the music’s grit and merit lies in an honest delivery and focused artistry that has been digging deep into the hearts of fans since 2012.
