Kevin Gannon
Listen to "Kevin Gannon From Smiley Face Killers On Oxygen" on Spreaker.
Since 1997, dozens of college-aged men have mysteriously drowned after a night out drinking with friends. Their bodies have been found in clusters around the country, and the victims are eerily similar – they’re all athletic, academic achievers. In addition, near the bodies is one distinct mark: graffiti of a smiley face. Oxygen Media’s new series “Smiley Face Killers: The Hunt for Justice” follows retired NYPD Detective Kevin Gannon and his team of investigators as they seek to prove that the drownings aren’t accidents, but homicides; and they may all be victims of a calculated group known as The Smiley Face Killers.
Kevin Gannon is a 20-year veteran of the New York City Police Department. During his distinguished career as Sergeant in the Detective Bureau, Gannon made over 1000 felony apprehensions and was awarded almost 100 medals for bravery. When he retired, he was one of the most highly decorated officers in NYPD history. Gannon’s involvement in the Smiley Face Killers cases began with his commitment to solve the Patrick McNeil case, the first unexplained drowning case he worked. The case still haunts Gannon, and it’s what drove him to come out of retirement and commit his life to proving these deaths are, in fact, murders.
