Andrew Shaffer
Listen to "Andrew Shaffer Releases Hope Never Dies" on Spreaker.
It’s a few months after the 2016 presidential election, and former VP Joe Biden is lost. For a man who spent his entire career serving his country, life post–White House has lost its luster. While Joe putters around his home in Wilmington, Delaware, his former political partner-in-crime is soaking up the good life, hanging out with the likes of Richard Branson and Bradley Cooper. Joe knows he’s not cut out for kitesurfing and base jumping, but he misses his old friend. Then, just as Joe is about to throw himself a pity party, a familiar face appears in a haze of cigarette smoke. Barack has come with some solemn news: Joe’s favorite Amtrak conductor, Finn Donnelly, has died in a suspicious accident.
The news strikes Joe hard. Donnelly was the conductor he saw every day while riding the train between Wilmington and Capitol Hill. He was a family man, and came from a long line of railroad workers. But what’s even more puzzling is the news Obama delivers next: on Donnelly’s desk, the police found a piece of a map leading straight to Biden’s house. Was Donnelly trying to reach out? And how did such a careful guy get struck by an Acela? Joe knows there’s more to the story than meets the eye. He promises Donnelly’s daughter he’ll find out what really happened, and a Biden always keeps a promise. But Joe is a private citizen now—what can he do?
That’s when the Obama/Biden mission begins.
Filled with a familiar desire to serve and Barack by his side, Joe is determined to uncover the truth. Along the way, he and POTUS 44 find themselves traversing the darkest corners of Delaware, searching for evidence in run-down motels, confronting a dangerous biker gang, hanging off
an Amtrak train, and uncovering a conspiracy that’s advancing America’s opioid epidemic.
No-nonsense Joe is not taking anyone’s malarkey. And he won’t stop until justice is served.
