I didn't return home to catch up on memories or to feel like a kid again. It was more of a journey to drop stuff off. In each of our days we carry with us a ton of reasons to grab hold of more memories or to hold onto moments we still can't figure out. It adds up quickly and without a doubt it becomes an out of focused path because each story eventually grows into another and suddenly life feels more like an unedited book rather than the blink of an eye adventure it was meant to be and become. In this particular podcast of The Lyrics From Billy's Forest I openly admit how chasing dreams got the best of me. I honestly didn't know who my family was when I returned home because I've been so determined to be something in radio that it caused a disconnection between family and dreams. Sitting next to a lake I wrote about how God had a message for me to hold but he wasn't going to share it until I put down the writing instrument. How many of us do this? We are so consumed with how and why we need to grow that all things are set to the side including those that gifted us with the performance. I wrote about how this journey back to Montana wasn't to gather new memories but to dump a bunch of them off. It's almost as if God was saying, "Take all those experiences and leave them here. I need your open mind body and soul to serve me in other places and there can be no added weight." So I ask you about your dumping place. Where were you called to visit not to take in but to let go? How did you grow? Was it like waving goodbye or welcoming a new beginning? Being present in your now cannot be a string clinging to an old guitar that should've been tossed decades before. Or.... are you waiting for that moment to set yourself free but you can't get there because you're still discovering?

AKBAR GBAJABIAMILA - Host, "American Ninja Warrior" and "American Ninja Warrior: Ninja vs. Ninja" Akbar Gbajabiamila is host of NBC's two-time Emmy Award-nominated hit competition series "American Ninja Warrior," which begins its 10th season this summer. He is also the host of the show's spinoff, USA Network's "American Ninja Warrior: Ninja vs. Ninja," which will air new episodes in spring. Gbajabiamila is a former NFL star who also currently hosts one of NFL Network's highest-rated shows, "NFL Fantasy Live." He recently made headlines being parodied on "Saturday Night Live" by Drake, as well as hailed in the media as a hero for chasing down a hit-and-run suspect who sideswiped a Los Angeles motorcycle cop. The L.A. native grew up in the Crenshaw district with his mother and father, both of whom were born and raised in Nigeria, and six siblings. Gbajabiamila is one of seven children of Nigerian immigrants. His first name means "great" in Arabic and his last name means "big man come save me," which derives from his paternal great-great-grandfather - an impressive man who stood 7-feet tall and was the moderator in the village in which he lived. Born to be an athlete, his first passion was playing basketball. He was part of the basketball team at Crenshaw High School during the dynasty era coached by none other than Willie E. West. He also started playing football, pressured by coaches because his older brother was a powerhouse on the team. When it came time for college he played football at San Diego State University, where he graduated with a degree in communication and new media studies before completing a certified entrepreneurship program at the Wharton School of Business in 2005. The Southern California native played five years in the NFL as a linebacker and defensive end with the Oakland Raiders, San Diego Chargers, and Miami Dolphins before retiring in 2008. While playing for the Chargers, Gbajabiamila contributed to KSWB, an NBC radio affiliate in San Diego, and co-hosted "Football Night in San Diego" from 2006-08. He went on to serve as an analyst for the Mountain Network and CBS Sports before joining the NFL Network in 2012. The multihyphenate made his feature acting debut in the 2015 short film "The Sac Fly" and previously co-starred in a Funny or Die skit "Internet Cops with Nnamdi Asomugha." He was also a fan favorite on the 2009 ABC adventure series "Expedition Impossible," where he was selected by producer Mark Burnett to compete in challenges across the globe. More recently, Gbajabiamila made his debut on NBC's "The Night Shift," as well as hosted NBC's 2017 "Red Nose Day Special" and "Macy's 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular." Gbajabiamila has a long history of volunteering and social consciousness. He currently serves as a board member for the Asomugha Foundation, an organization aimed at creating better educational opportunities for impoverished communities. He also serves on the board of the Michael J. Fox Foundation. As a collegiate undergrad, Gbajabiamila joined Athletes for Education, a youth education program where he was able to promote financial literacy for youth in the San Diego community. He and his wife, along with their four children, currently reside in Redondo Beach with their beloved dog.

How each of us arrive is a personal step and opportunity and knowing how the moments are generated is beyond my landscape of thought. I am not qualified to do what I do. Yet it keeps happening. How is that possible? Wisdom sits in an empty jar in 2018. It's not required to be hired. All of that information that was stuffed into your head in college and how many graduates are truly doing what they set out to accomplish? I don't know about you but I feel pretty dumb about a lot of the stuff that's taken place because being wise was to serve as the guide. According to Dictionary.com wisdom is great judgement, knowledge and experience. Sounds pretty fair doesn't it? Three completely different paths that look equal but don't perform equal. In a modern day business world the resume that gets answered doesn't know of the dumb things you did in order to attain each level of wisdom. I say dumb because wisdom has two sides to it. Wiz and Dumb. Anyone can be a wiz at something but admitting you've done some pretty dumb stuff begins to fill the books of great judgement, knowledge and experience. How many career choices does the average person have to make before they accept themselves as being a survivor? How many times are you gonna go back to school until you land that dream job? Not a guilt trip. Just trying to get a better understanding as to why computer programs make decisions for businesses seeking employees that are hard working, dedicated, loyal and determined to create quality. To achieve any of those is wisdom a requirement? Wisdom is weight. Decision makers call it two things: luggage and or set in your way. Wanted are shape shifters that can be bent to play today's game. Tomorrow everything changes. Wisdom keepers are friction in an office needing everyday solutions. Taking what you know, have experienced and created through great judgement has become your roadblock on the highway to personal gain and success.

He will soon be seen in "Holy Lands" with Tom Hollander directed by Amanda Sthers as well as Harald Zwart's "Der 12 Mann," Rhys Meyers first starring role in a German language film, which he also serves as producer. Jackie Verna

The accident left Jackie with severe physical injuries and a loss of confidence in her future. Her dreams of moving to Alabama and cheering in college were halted. Jackie spent the first few months inside after the accident, not ready to face the outside world. She quickly turned to the keyboard her aunt had gifted her and music became the key to her recovery. Country music allowed Jackie to infuse her emotions and story into its narrative style. She went on to attend Penn State and as her confidence grew, Jackie began performing at local open mics. This is her first big performance.
