Your Time To Waste
Listen to "Your Time To Waste" on Spreaker.
April 6, 2022
An interesting thought was shared this morning while walking our dog Jazzie. Our little girl is a creature of habit. I know how she works. At 7am this wasn’t our normal walk of creating miles and steps. I mentioned to my wife that we were wasting time. Her reply “It’s my time to waste.” I totally get where she was coming from. Look at what I’ve done with 43 years of broadcasting. Although I didn’t reach the child’s dream, it’s always been my time to waste. No matter what we put into any 24 hour period, time is a gift and it’s yours to do with or should I say deal with? Do versus deal. You’ve done this and have had to deal with how much time was required to make it possible. Was it a waste of time? It’s yours to waste. I have 28 years of daily writing. To anyone and everyone, that seems like a lot of wasted time and space. For me, it’s the daily gain. If you’ve got time give yourself permission to waste some of it.

The Daily Mess Where Are The Words
Listen to "The Daily Mess Where Are The Words" on Spreaker.
April 5, 2022
Bringing energy to the words you speak. The first step would be to have confidence in what you speak. Getting to that point requires a journey of not always being agreed with. Especially with yourself! Without words there’s always going to be an entanglement. The leader of Ukraine has kept his words active and up to date. Whereas the other side isn’t speaking in tones that bring a better understanding. There are rumors of both leaders getting together. But rumors are like assumption. Remember the first step is having the confidence to speak. There is no movement in an assumed rumor. Being transparent. Our nation is giving away hundreds of millions of dollars. That’s not speaking. That’s giving away numbers. Where are the words?

I Sit Here Waiting
Listen to "I Sit Here Waiting" on Spreaker.
March 9, 2022
Spent some time with actor Skylan Brooks this morning. He’s presently starring the new movie Outsiders. Got on the subject of writing and how the impact of what hits the page has energy in it long after it was released. It may come with a different interpretation but it’s still a seed for your present place in the Now. In 1986 I penned out these words I sit here waiting. Waiting for a dream. It used to be you and me. Till you kept stealing. The song was recorded not once but twice. Each time carrying a different vibe. In 1986 it was about a 24 year old male dealing with abortion. When it was met again in 2013 it was the same man but at 41 dealing with a career that had kept stealing. The song could easily go through another evolution here in 2022. The same man at 60 looking at life and how he kept stealing from it. The words tapped onto the screen of your social media connection should be revisited. Your reaction several years after posting will be totally unique and different. If you don’t want to write in journals, give yourself permission to speak your thoughts into an app that turns vocals into written words. Music legend Don McLean the creator of American Pie talked about how he uses that digital device more as a writing tool then a place where you talk to others. Now more than ever your experiences with this modern world are needed in 2105. Your thoughts are energy that’s moved through you. They don’t belong to you. I sit here waiting. Waiting for a dream. It used to be you and me. Till you kept stealing.

The Daily Mess: The Vow
Listen to "The Daily Mess The Vow" on Spreaker.
March 8, 2022
Tapping into the energy. The universe around you is incredibly giving. But how can you turn a Red Bull heavily caffeinated coffee morning into a series of natural connections? Not just today but every day! I’ve created the vow. To physically enact. To be present. To no longer whitewash the self-generated pits that are too easy to sink within. Becoming aware. Staying aware. Mindfulness. Remaining true. Unloading transparency. Making it real without damaging the walls of stability. The vow. Learning who you are without breaking in two. The eyes in the mirror can’t speak. While staring back you only assume. It’s become amazingly clear that it’s perfectly ok to speak openly about what’s growing in the way we think. The vow comes with a challenge. Faithfulness. How long does it last during the daily storms? If you can’t trust yourself how can the outside steer clear of the painted face? The mask. The hider. The wanderer in you must be kept away from being a chaser and or follower. The vow. To lead. But not in circles. To protect. To be accountable. To teach. The vow.

Stream Thinking Peacefully Talking Forward
Listen to "Stream Thinking Peacefully Talking Forward" on Spreaker.
March 7, 2022
Are we talking too much? Just because I’m a daily writer and podcaster doesn’t mean I find great joy in talking. I’d rather say nothing. It’s who I am! I was that kid in Montana that didn’t want to leave his bedroom. I always sat in back seat on the bus doing all I could to find the furthest seat in the classroom. What makes this abnormal are the forty three years I’ve invested in broadcasting. The medium has nothing to do with my personality because I keep wondering if we’re talking too much. People have a lot to say. About nothing. Big thoughts without activation. Getting into a conversation means getting wrapped up in other people’s drama. Don’t know about you but the voices in the head are constantly talking and most of the time they’re screaming for us to create a conversation or make some sort of connection. We did the eye glance thing for two years because of Covid. You know what body language does! Oh oh they hate me. What did I do wrong this time? Life is about forward motion as well as emotion. The question isn’t can we please stop talking. Are we talking too much? There’s so much being said about the possibilities of a world war to the price of food, gas and funerals. Our human consumption levels are off the charts. We don’t know who or what to believe. Too much talk. To make matters worse the warranty on your car is up but we can help you locate a solution. Too much talk!

The Daily Mess: Instinct Versus Intuition
Listen to "The Daily Mess Instinct Versus Intuition" on Spreaker.
March 4, 2022
Unmasking the hidden ambition. We live in an age where what we want to accomplish still rests within the depths of thought. The mission of importance is to find someplace safe. To not rock to the boat. Chance in a restless world can lead to unsettled harmony. We keep reading about this so called Great Resignation. Men and women 45 to 50 plus walking away from their careers to enjoy life. Sadly, inflation and unheard of gas prices have invaded their private exploration. Did they plan for it? How many more months before they make their way back to the workforce? How long will it take them to catch up? How about these employees that start and stop a job because it doesn’t fit into their expectations? I hear it every day, “I didn’t see eye to eye with what you’re expecting.” The journalists claim the world is offering a lot. Is it? Not for those with specialized skills. Designed to do this while the rest of the planet needs that. The hidden ambition is to at least try! The reality of the moment keeps the dreamer at bay because of that creepy fear of what if it goes wrong? Who would you be if you elected to change? More importantly can you handle another working family? Some can easily make the move. Now toss in the current cost of fuel. How much change do you have in your pocket? There used to be a time when we listened to gut instinct. It helped to prepare for the required steps of expectation. With the way of the world, we’re very lucky to be alive. What if you had been born in Ukraine or your roots were planted in Russia? The daily wakeup call has got to include gratefulness. It has to be the unmasked ambition. At any given moment, even the rich and famous are facing the reality of what if. Instinct and intuition are on high alert three months deep into the year. Is this the time to trust it? Look at what’s taken place with Covid. I ask as a daily writer if you are putting any of journey on paper. Your history is meant for a future reader. Know in your unmasked hidden ambition that a moment becoming a memory is probably a story that will be rewritten.

What Day Is It
Listen to "What Day Is It" on Spreaker.
March 3, 2022
Thursday’s are my Monday’s. Monday’s are my Saturday’s. In an interview yesterday I completely got lost as to what day it was. Absolutely embarrassed by the blooper and blunder. Only to learn that millions go through this mental absence hourly. Research shows that Friday’s and Monday’s play a huge role in why we can’t remember what day it is. Whether it’s a positive or negative effect, the mind has a difficult time trying to locate which Friday or Monday you’re closest to. The term is called Temporal Disintegration. A sense of time that is governed by emotions and or experiences. And yes the Covid 19 lockdown has reshaped the way we think about the days of the week. Now toss in the daily mess in Ukraine. The entire planet is biting at the bit to lend a helping hand. The Russian invasion is all over the television, your smart phone and other conversational connections. No day is different. It looks, smells and feels like yesterday and the day before. Temporal Disintegration. I’m a daily writer. First thing every morning! Then I keep a de-frag journal at night. I write to create bread crumbs. There are countless moments where I find it difficult to recognize the subject penned out. I honestly didn’t remember. Temporal Disintegration.

The Daily Mess: Russia's Media Censorship
Listen to "The Daily Mess Russia's Media Censorship" on Spreaker.
March 2, 2022: Russia's Media Censorship
The big talk today is about Russia’s media censorship. In 2022 we’re hearing about a nation playing with the realms of reality by way of keeping the truth from the people needing it most. Russia’s media censorship. This is an all call for writers, podcasters and other communicators. It’s time to put the word on the streets. But can you do it without shaping an opinion? The world already has enough of those. Getting the story and keeping true to the story without opinion. Putting your voice of truth on a platform designed to help silence false worlds and fears. Keeping your platform locked in on reality and not a point of view depends on where you get the news. Without physically being in Ukraine or Russia you must rely on journalists passing their stories down the digital pipe. Russia’s media censorship can be busted but there must be willing communicators unassociated with big business broadcast companies. Planting your truth on the soil of a foreign country can happen by way of modern technology. No other generation has been this connected to the entire planet. But can you do it without opinion? Just the facts.

The Lyrics From Billy's Forest Chapter 284
Listen to "The Lyrics From Billys Forest Chapter 284" on Spreaker.
We are trained as children to always look forward. Yet where do most people get attacked? You see the drama on the movie theater screen! You read about it in the newspaper. Through an everyday world we concentrate so much on everything we see that we aren't leaving enough room to learn about what's hiding. Writing in my forest this past October I took note of everything behind the limbs and leaves. Looking through the vines and long tall grass. I brag about being able to listen beyond sound. I challenged myself to do the same with sight. And what I got was a different angle of the rising sun. It came to me on a walk this morning. The first day of March 2022. We trust our backs more than our fronts. We rarely if ever turn around. While in the studio this morning I couldn't remember what's displayed on the wall behind me. I can see this beautiful forest outside the studio windows. I can see my brother and mother's ashes to my left and an acrylic painting I brought to life nearly thirty years ago. But I couldn't identify what's behind me. I took the thought for a test drive during my daily midmorning walk with my dog. My focus was 100% on what was in front of me. I never turned around to see what was moving behind me. That's when I chose to believe that we trust our backs more than our fronts. If we didn't trust it we'd turn around! Being aware of the present means knowing where you are. I spent some time with former CIA agent Ric Padro yesterday. We spoke very deeply about how disconnected people are in the places they stand and walk. Now imagine being in Ukraine where everything's changed. You don't know where the enemy is. Ukrainian's don't know where they're sleeping tonight. Survival means knowing your surroundings. The way you think and participate with conversation plays a huge role in how you're being received and or pushed away. Try driving a car without a rearview mirror. Why not your everyday life and step? By the way. Behind me inside this studio are my martial arts belts from white to 3rd degree. Why couldn't I remember that? We trust our back more than our front. Make the move to change that plan.

Daily Mess: Butts And Thoughts
Listen to "The Daily Mess Butts And Thoughts" on Spreaker.
My father used to say, “You’d forget your butt if it wasn’t attached!” As a child I truly didn’t understand the term because the one thing I didn’t like carrying with me was my butt. Can you imagine how uncomfortable people would be if they were allowed to forget their butt? You know like a credit card or your driver’s license at a grocery store. They’d spend so much time trying to borrow another person’s butt. Only to complain about the size and weight. “Ummm sorry to bother you but can I borrow your butt? I left mine at my uncle’s home twenty miles away.” Or! “You’re not going to believe this but someone has stolen my butt.” I can’t imagine sitting down with a different butt. Then to give it back! “Hey thanks for the help. They didn’t have TP.” So what’s the moral of this story? Don’t leave home without a credit card. Not every business takes Apple Pay. That’s my thought for the day. It doesn’t mean we have to understand it. When we hear a thought in our head it seems to fit. Sounds great! Why hasn’t someone else thought of this? Then something happens while writing it or sharing it out loud. It doesn’t come out the way you thought it. We are the generation that forces thought out. We do it so much and so hard that I’m shocked we don’t have mental hernias. Butts and thoughts. You’d forget your butt if it wasn’t attached and thoughts are lost every fifteen seconds. One you can share. The other? Please don’t. Yet if your thought is an opinion. Yeah, just like a butt. Everyone’s got one.

The Daily Mess: A Moment To Clear
Listen to "Thge Daily Mess A Moment To Clear" on Spreaker.
To clear our head and heart. To free our paths from things we have no control of or over. We stand on a different rock. Not to watch the behavior of other people. But to lead by way of inner strength. We cannot be hiders. Nor should we rise. It's time to clear. For what we have and own is the present. Right here right now. Embrace it with true love and compassion. We cannot write history before it happens. To be a visionary can get in the the way of what history has done to many. Staying clear is a walk of life. It doesn't keep you from being an activator by way of serving peace filled ways to rebuild and replenish. It's another one of those days when something too large to comprehend has invaded our personal thoughts and reactions. We must unite in equal love and pace. We are what will shape the next seven generations. How you make decisions creates the seeds.

The Daily Mess: The Balancer
Listen to "The Daily Mess The Balancer" on Spreaker.
February 23, 2022
So many scars on my knuckles. Instantly you can tell I’m right handed. It’s not that my left hand is lazy. I call it The Balancer. It holds the page in place. Hammers and I have never gotten along. The courageous left hand would hold that tiny sharp sliver of metal and wham! Almost always my thumb would get whacked. For that nail to work there had to be a full collaboration of energy. No single wall can stand without true support. The Balancer. A great example? The number of times people admit their dreams are blocked behind a wall. I always look around. Then react, “It takes more than one wall to fully block. Have you tried to get through any of the others?” How we make our way through walls and countless days of other people’s expectations is through the physical execution of making a choice. Which tool will you use? In all cases there will be a Balancer. Without it, the awkward image would be that of dizzy behavior. My left hand can’t do what my right is capable of accomplishing. But could the right achieve success on its own? Your life is no different. Who what and where is your Balancer? Who sits on the opposite side making sure your ambitions are met with success? Hall and Oates, Lennon and McCartney and I once thought Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora. Having something or someone to balance with gifts the path with opportunities that can be met. Learn to identify with your Balancer. It’s going to require time. You can’t just point a finger. It’s too easy to be ghosted. Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez. Who is the lead and who is The Balancer? I’d love for Jon and Richie to find their way back to each other. Neither have toppled the music scene since. They’ve relied on the past to keep them present.

The Daily Mess: Documenting 2-22-22
Listen to "The Daily Mess Documenting 2 22 22" on Spreaker.
February 22, 2022
Today is 2-22-22 on a Two’s day. Once in a lifetime. Is it a milestone or a mile marker? What are the chances people looked at the clock at 2:22 this morning or later this afternoon? The number two is said to be powerful. God created the sky on day number 2. The number 2 represents collaborations. In numerology number 2 people are emotional, sensitive and filled with love. One problem. The default is what comes with it, a need to be helping, caring and always willing to help guide. Here we are! 2-22-22! Time is moving faster than the human eye. There won’t be a 3-33-3333 or 4-44-4444. Dear future reader; what’s life like in 1-1-2111 and 2-22-2122? Or does that even work with a different number mixed in? The 1’s are done! As will the 2’s after 2-22-2222. Funny how numbers tease our hearts and imaginations. We play with numbers until someone reinvents math. Someone, somewhere will finally prove to the world that the number 2 isn’t a prime number. Because… I don’t know. But they will! And on that day they’ll say Pluto is a planet it again and not a wandering moon. What are you doing on your 2-22-22? Let there be peace in Ukraine.

940 minutes. That’s how long the average person stays awake each day. A waking mind requires 30 minutes to kick start your heart. Having a cleared process cannot carry the weight of last night’s dreams. We allow the little things to get in the way. We tend to invest more in creating excuses then we do in physical actions. I’m totally guilty of allowing the hands of the clock serve as a borderline. We give ourselves only so many minutes to complete a project. To which I ask, “Is this the result of the Covid 19 lockdown?” I remember recreating the rules to keep the human system from getting messed up with anxiety. I could only watch so much news, we binge watched only one show. We created windows to keep the process moving. 940 minutes of awake hours. When we do get sleep, the dreams don’t live up to the expectation. If it were a bad movie we may get our money back! Whomever or whatever is planting those moving pictures into the subconscious isn’t being fair. Those 940 awake minutes stretch to 960 then 970. How do you regain control? We’ve always been told to think positive. Not so true. One of the greatest motivators has a different walk. Tony Robbins says in his new book that positive thinking is B.S. If you see weeds in your flower garden the power of positive thinking won’t remove them. You have to physically become part of the picking. Facing a bad dream means calling it out. If there’s a mountain in your way, remove it. Positive thinking has lost its biggest guru. My method of madness is mindfulness. The awareness of Now. Present. Which according to Doris Kearns Goodwin says was Abraham Lincoln’s secret to success. A man of great depression and other mental hard times kept it together due to knowing where he was. In the Now.

The Daily Mess: Captive Versus Captivated
Listen to "The Daily Mess Captive Versus Captivated" on Spreaker.
February 15, 2022
A captive imagination. That would say a trapped or imprisoned form of wanting to express. A captive audience is no different. Unable to leave. I’ve always believed in the spirit of free form, doing all I can to not be held up or held back by what appears to be impossible. Yet at the same time the goal is to captivate the audience as well as the imagination. That has a completely different message. To get something from. Captive versus captivated. Many times we feel like we can’t break free of a great binge watch because it’s so captivating. The opposite of all of this is where so many paths disappear. Lost interest, failed faith, a lack of ambition and or reason to participate. Becoming aware of the layers introduced sends information to your subconscious. The decision is made to stay present or allow your captive imagination to remain locked in a circle of constant behaviors. While losing interest where does the heart take its next step? How much are you willing to invest? On a personal level would you rather be captive or captivated? During the early part of the millennium I was captive to my art on a canvas. I couldn’t break free of the paint because I wanted to be in galleries. When it happened I couldn’t handle the judgement. Does that mean the 28 years I’ve put into daily writing is a captive imagination? No. I pull things from it. To build, replenish, to understand then share. That makes it captivating. Now it’s your turn to locate the truth in your journey. What’s keeping you from finding your voice?

February 14, 2022
I posted a note of gratefulness on Facebook last evening. Thanking every team member and department for their incredible structure of bringing their game on Super Bowl Sunday. Team leading in a post Covid 19 world isn’t about a pyramid process of business success. The daily challenges often feel like they’re increasing more than improving. For many the working mindset is locked in on just being present. I grip the reins of compassion tightly. I want my players to be present but with an open mind. Not as they see it but as the company was built on it. I don’t want to be that guy! The evil stepfather figure that runs the house with a ton of rules that say don’t do this and why did you do that? Because my team leaders bust serious tail, I’m inspired to bring the same game to that field. Standing around laughing has always been looked upon as being a top dog deal breaker. How though, in this post Covid 19 world where human connection was a Zoom call away do we allow the human comradery to remain while still getting the job done? Coaching. You’ll learn more about yourself as a leader if you take the time to listen to the stories each of your team members are carrying. Life isn’t about your job. Some people took up the guitar while in lockdown. Other’s mastered their kitchen chef skills, became writers, got outside to enjoy the sun or withdrew from the world and don’t know how to get back. A coach knows the whole player. I never have the same conversation with two people. The mission is to know the person not the employee.

Eyes Before Heart
Listen to "Eyes Before Heart" on Spreaker.
February 9, 2022
I was shocked to see a sheet of frost on the windows this new sun. Moments of unexpected change toy with my imagination. It continues to prove how much I’m truly not in control. It’s not that I’m a control freak. I’m just not into things I didn’t see coming. Over the past year the journey has been to create a separation with the world of news. One problem. When you remove the news from CNN, ABC and so on, you always drop the weather. Rather than be bummed out by the natural display, the eyes chose to take note of the sun and how it was turning light into multitudes of layered prisms. It cast colors in ways that seemed just as unpredictable as first walking into the forest. Mother Nature’s paint is not found in a can. Looking at the openness of life and seeing with my eyes then my heart. Not my heart then eyes. I’ve got to say it again! Looking at the openness of life and seeing with my eyes then my heart. Not my heart then eyes. We are guilty of seeing things with our heart first then sharing it with our eyes. When things don’t play out the way your heart designed it, your eyes constantly search for what will make your heart happy. Let it begin with the eyes first! When I write in the morning I do not speak from my heart. The words that appear on paper start with my eyes then share the story with the heart. If I spoke from heart first, the eyes read it then return it to the heart. An endless circle. I was shocked to see a sheet of frost on the windows this new sun. Moments of unexpected change toy with my imagination. That was my heart speaking. When I allowed the eyes to tell the story the thought process changed. Rather than be bummed out by the natural display, the eyes chose to take note of the sun and how it was turning light into multitudes of layered prisms. Grow forward through sight.

The Daily Mess: Don't Silence Joe
Listen to "The Daily Mess Don't Silence Joe" on Spreaker.
I don't fear being a creative. What I wonder about is how far as a creative will we be allowed to travel. The most recent attack on podcaster Joe Rogan is a great example. Why him and not all of these political opinion makers sharing the same poison with listeners? Neil Young and Joni Mitchell took their music off the same platform because they didn't agree with Joe's spoken word. I've yet to hear of anyone leaping off streaming due to Mark Levine or Chris Cuomo! Being a creative means extending your voice. To make yourself present requires not an act of God but a willingness to be judged. When Joe Rogan's message didn't agree with my walk and way, I quit listening. I didn't think once about leaving Spotify. It's a freedom of speech that Mr. Rogan is exercising. Spotify just happens to be his soapbox.

The Daily Mess: What Nobody Sees
Listen to "The Daily Mess What Nobody Sees" on Spreaker.
What nobody sees. The working mind. The planning. The execution. Then the goal to do it again. Nobody sees it. If it breaks, you make the move to keep from walking away. Nobody sees it. Even while looking your eyes. Finding the grind. Knowing what’s in store. So we explore. To put the value of creative energy ahead of all things. Nobody sees it. The inner battle with who you are and who you’re going to become. It’s not always a choice. It’s more of a mopping up what a thought can do in a moment of change, challenge and evolution. For the moment. That’s all any of us own. This moment. Here we are! Nobody sees it. The struggle to be normal. Because it’s not always easy to step onto the path you lead. What nobody sees. Your evolution.

The Art Of Listening Versus The Act Of Listening
Listen to "The Art Of Listening Versus The Act Of Listening" on Spreaker.
January 28, 2022
Is there a difference between the art of listening and the act of listening? Lord knows there are many people that act they’re listening but they’ve actually tuned out. Anytime you need a response they look like Bobble Heads saying, “Yup yup.” A national producer recently sent me a note thanking me for letting his people of fame guests have a voice. He said, “You have an art to listening.” Which is interesting because I’m totally guilty of being a Bobble Head. If there’s any secret to what I do it’s based on questioning their answers. I do that in full public view as well. The best conversations begin with interaction. It can’t be lopsided. Ever been in one those where you feel like the bottom of a deep dark valley floor and the one doing the talking is a higher than the clouds jagged mountain? In all things it’s gonna be about them. They usually mean no harm! We’re all guilty of stepping on that path as well. It’s called being heard. But is there an art to listening? When do you know it’s time to pull away from the other person’s stage? It’s probably when the pain in your neck gets worse because of Bobble Heading. A radio program director once said to me, “You only have the attention of a listener for seven seconds. Figure out what you’re going to do when you’ve been talking for eight, nine and now twenty seconds. Always put yourself in the shoes of a listener.”

The Daily Mess No Time To Talk
Listen to "The Daily Mess No Time To Talk" on Spreaker.
January 27, 2022
Unmasking the real conversation requires a physical act of trust. Say that three times. Allow it to sink into your thinking process. Unmasking the real conversation requires a physical act of trust. How much time will go by before the availability of actuality is shows the open door? Too heavy? I shy away from circles of personal conversation. The fear of getting wrapped up in something that will challenge my or someone else’s trust. We gossip by way of comparing chapters. The internet has turned us into monsters. My father was very stern about where you are currently placed. If you’re caught up in a conversation talking about someone then what they saying about you? You know how it is! It’s been this way since elementary school. People don’t keep stories to themselves. It’ll either get back to the origin or the stories will fall into the wrong ears. The waves of negative energy start to tarnish the image and imagination. So I ask, “Is it safer to not unmask the real conversation or does it paint you as being standoffish and or uncaring? What if we agreed to disagree about finding no time to have the real conversation? That’s a choice that too many have already adopted. Choosing to be silent generates other stories. When a few gather to whisper and they keep looking at you. How about the coworker that can’t dropping the F bomb. People hear it and because you were there you said it too. Or being on the opposite end of a good ole fashioned finger pointing. He was with them when they said! Unmasking the real conversation requires a physical act of trust. What side of the fence do you stand?

I’m not a representative of the world of medicine. I’m not a mental health professional. I experience through awareness. Being mindful. Living a path of mindfulness. Present. Learning how to locate inner peace in a place and age where mental health is finally being talked about. Globally there are a lot of people hurting. The stories we aren’t getting are those associated with how overcrowded the professional’s schedules are. It’s become a challenge for millions trying to get mental help. The answer seekers are receiving is the professional isn’t accepting new clients. So many commercials are promoting online connections for those in need. But you aren’t in the same place breathing each other’s air. Human contact is in short supply. With Zoom business burnout at an all-time high psychiatrists and psychotherapists are pushing pills and computer time. Those needing are forced into caring for themselves. Books of motivation, meditation and the Bible are calmers. They help calm the storms and inner voices. Fixing yourself should not be the answer. Talking about this current state of mental health, a shortage of professionals helps open the process. Don’t stop reaching out to doctors providing peace for your mind body and soul. One professional that needs to be recognized for his dedication and loyalty to real people is Dr. Ian Smith the author of the book Burn Melt Shred. He’s created a Facebook group specializing on free mental support. Plus he Zooms for free! I realize it’s not in the same face to face place where the scent of the air matters but it’s a walk in the right direction when seeking peace.

How You Did
Listen to "How You Did" on Spreaker.
January 21, 2022
Heavy subject today. It’ll probably push 98% of you away. But it needs to be talked about. Julia Cameron’s new book Seeking Wisdom. In the opening chapter she invites readers to turn God into the way they want to see God. Love it! Or is that a judgement? Whatever it takes to help warm a chilly heart. Julia uses Adam and Eve as an example. I know in my childhood of eight years and younger that story was used by preachers to scare me into horrid nightmares. Yet, we truly didn’t see the other side of the love story. The opening of the eyes to a universal display of God art. The way Julia Cameron explains it is exactly how I discovered this author and teacher in July of 1994. I was living a hardcore very strict life of art with no room for viewing other methods of outreach. Once I began to study the wisdom inside The Artist’s Way the forbidden apple served more as an invitation to explore. Back to the original thought. Julia creates a path for you to see God as you want to see God. The creative spirit that drives me has stepped back to welcome not only your God but your neighbors, school teachers, Mayors, Governors and all others. Now we have a multi layered universe of God’s like Marvel and DC Comics. No judgement. Teach me your path. I’m always the listener first. A good friend sent a text yesterday, “Does suicide keep you out of Heaven?” My reply, “Ask the keeper of your Heaven. Hear what you want to know.” Maybe on a personal level you’re stumbling and can’t locate the proper puppet strings to get beyond this thing called the New Normal. I totally get it. Getting professional help these days is like scoring a chicken sandwich at Chic Fil-A. You’re gonna wait in a very very long line. Don’t stop reaching for professional listeners. They’re there! And so is the G guy which according to Julia Cameron will be in whatever shape you wish to paint.

There are layers in our hearts. Which always infects what we dream. What we can’t do is allow it to poison what we see. What they don’t tell you about living a mindful life is how difficult it is to stay in the present. Especially one that’s consumed with a pandemic, horrid politics and always bad weather. We get it! The heart must remain clear. Unlike ice we can’t throw salt onto it to break down the layers. Being mindful is awareness. Knowing how to stay truth filled without being taken over by the newer variants and senators that have vowed to protect a nation they are ripping apart. We can’t control our dreams. But we have full control of what we’re putting inside ourselves. My father always told me, “You don’t have to know everything.” Tell that to yourself over and over. Set down the smartphone you don’t have to know everything. Put away the news outlets you don’t have to know everything. There’s snow back in the forecast. We could get four inches. Can you control it? You don’t have to know everything. There are layers in our hearts. Which always infects what we dream. What we can’t do is allow it to poison what we see. You don’t have to know everything.

A quote from Blackish on ABC, “It’s never gonna be easy when you’re in a league of your own.” This quote defines the presence of a leader versus a follower. Yet I do believe many who’ve chosen to follow are doing it because of a lack of confidence and or don’t want to carry the weight of so many high business expectations. How many people physically believe they’re in a league of their own? To be there. Can you stay there? What are the daily requirements? What happens if you admit to being a league of your own, does that label you conceited or confident? Cam Newton is in a league of his own. Being there means taking the verbal hits from fans and coaches. Always getting blamed for losing or making awkward passes. Pull the lens back. Millions of dollars are spent on coaches that make decisions. Not only that but Cam isn’t the only person on that playing field. Yet it’s always Cam’s fault. A league of their own. Those who are, are they teaching others how to sharpen their skills and craft? I call it the Yoda effect. Passing the experience forward. What if Yoda had said no to Luke Skywalker? The hardest part about being a league of your own isn’t recognizing it in others. It’s being loyal to the next one holding the ball.

Snow and ice. It still remains. Nothing just disappears. Look at your life and all that’s challenged the path. All that once made the blizzard white canvas has slowly been replaced by what so many have left behind. The message is to look beyond. To face the moment of “Now” with a burning fire to touch an unwritten tomorrow. A great example. We couldn’t have gotten to this part of the conversation without the opening sentences. Snow and Ice. It still remains. Living in the past is never the answer but you can use the experience as tools. It’s what shapes right here right now. Know though, like the snow it will soon melt away. Maybe that’s the thing! We’re so guilty of locking in on what we love that when it melts away we step back rather than forward. Relationships are your greatest foundation. How many of us still talk with coworkers we assumed were our friends? The world moved forward and we’re stuck in the past wondering how and why the friendship was ghosted. All things melt away. What is your path in the aftermath?

When words don’t want to fly. That’s what this is about. An exercise. To grow beyond being a bump on a log. We’ve made it too easy for us and those around us to be seen and not heard. It’s ok to be quiet. Yet the storms brewing within our thick skin need to have a voice. How often do you face a need for an answer and all you’re getting are shrugged shoulders. Because we’ve allowed people to be quiet. It gives off the scent of not having to participate with. Why don’t words want to be put on a page or a computer screen? The choice to stay still has to be eliminated. What we aren’t seeing or talking about are the moments of doubt lived out by those who constantly ask themselves, “Why didn’t I participate? I truly had a voice and didn’t use it!” The lesson I took from the Beatles Get Back documentary was how every player involved including Billy Preston kept their voices heard. Even while writing iconic music Lennon and McCartney would mumble until the melody had been perfected. Then they went back to craft the lyrics. What if they had stayed silent? Being quiet isn’t laziness. It’s a willingness. A choice that so often invites several moments of what if I had. You’ll never know unless you try.

Unplugged and Totally Uncut January 14th
Today!!! Friday January 14th on Unplugged and Totally Uncut!!!
Ryan Jay reviews Scream. Calling it a true Re-quel. As in reboot and sequel. It breaks down the fourth wall with old as well as new characters. See it in theaters. One you can put a pause on and catch on stream if need be is Belle. A scientific thriller that takes a strange twist you won't recover from. Then there's The House on Netflix. 90 minutes. 3 stories. All with their own personality dealing with the same house. Stop motion animation in 2022 that makes it quirky and different. 10am post

This one’s gonna get me kicked off Linkdin. People are physically and mentally tested. Which means there’s a lot of edginess going on. Time for that conversation. Which I’m going to say about one thousand times. It doesn’t matter who’s standing next to another, expect there to be emotional missiles. Time for that conversation. My biggest weakness is identifying the mindset at hand. Rather than supporting the issue, the goal is to call out the negative. I do so by identifying the abusive power. I’m not trying to win a popularity contest. The days of dogs burying their waste are over. Every person on the planet has changed mentally over the past twenty four months. You can see it in the eyes. Attack mode intact. We can’t go there. The daily goal should be to admit the issues. To generate the energy for solutions. Time for a conversation. There are millions of solutions but they’re instantly locked down by decision makers wanting to keep their goals and ambitions fully engaged in an age where not having the conversation is dividing the highway. In a matter of days the biggest of the best are expecting their employees to show up in the office. No questions asked. Really? The one thing that’s always been missing from success is trust and truth. Time for that conversation. The words department heads and those higher are using are infecting the morals and ethics of those who were lucky enough to survive. It’s time to make it known when you’ve been wronged. Time for that conversation. Instead of judging those who’ve chosen to seek employment elsewhere, call out the negative and start correcting the way people are controlled. It’s supposed to be a collaboration not domination. Time for that conversation.

As much proof as we have of there being an out of control climate the affects still put too much distance between the human ego and the acceptance of being tiny on this planet. Human loss doesn't seem to be an important factor. From out of nowhere communities are rebuilt. 'm not the only one asking this question "Where does all the money come from?" What if one day it dries up? The only thing we'll have is what?

The Daily Mess: Study The Angle Of The Experience
Listen to "The Daily Mess Study The Angle Of The Experience" on Spreaker.
January 11, 2022
Winter’s bite. As a child the snow always felt deeper than what we see today. Mainly because I barely stood five feet tall. Twelve to seventeen inches of snow was a mountain. When it’s thirty two degrees in Carolina in 2022 I find myself to be in more pain at fifty nine then I did as a teen in Montana facing forty below zero. The angle of the story. How we look at our moments of Now are based on what angle you are seeing. Don’t pay the ferryman one cent until you’ve study every angle that you’re comparing the situation to. Daily writing. I started in July of 1994. The handwriting may look the same but the way I write and why I write have nothing in common. It’s not the same person, path and or performance. Teach yourself to become more aware of how you’ve evolved. Your point of view isn’t the same. It only feels like you were better off or less of back then. Looking at all the angles allows there to be less judgement and more exploring.

January 10, 2022
There’s so much in the news about a lack of people on the job front. Very few of those stories put focus on the employees that fail to show up on time or even come in. Managers and department heads don’t hold them accountable. If this was the walk and way five to ten years ago we’d all be on the street without recommendations. Job hopping is the new norm. The new pay scale has a lot to do with it. Look at how Snag A Job is turning normal wage earners into better solo performers because the power of choice has challenged them to locate a higher scale of pay without being stuck to a corporation that hasn’t changed their people skills. No day passes that I’m not being introduced to a new coworker. I’m guilty of silently saying, “And how long will you be with us?” Employees need to know the answer! When the new person elects to disconnect the workload doubles for the already tired hired hand. I’m not a job hopper. But I do love the idea of Snag A Job. How will it playout in the long run? Team collaborations and comradery are essential tools in the world of success. Snag A Job puts new people on your street at the drop of a hat. How will it affect and infect those who need to do the same thing in the same environment every day? I grip the definition of change and how it’s waiting for us on every corner. I’m very interested in knowing the strength of the moment by moment team.

January 7, 2022
I stood with a man yesterday that was having a difficult time realizing how we’ve been dealing with Covid 19 for two years. As much as I tried to explain that March will mark the anniversary in the United States his choice was to argue with the distance. I watched as he tried to explain personal beliefs. I couldn’t tell if he was denying the pandemic or trying to rewrite history. It only takes one to begin a process of reinvention. This is why I daily write. To not be part of a process of redesigning fact. More of us need to do this. As your jobs evolve back into the workplace document the moment and the emotions. As we race beyond the insurrection or riot put it on a page before the media and politicians erase it. It’s ok to have an indifference. It’s who we are as people. The man finally took note of where reality stand when he chose to count the number of March’s. He went blank. For time had gotten away from him.

Inside Out Dreams
Listen to "Inside Out Dreams" on Spreaker.
A night of whacked out sleeping habits. Thirty minute catnaps. Oddly shaped dreams. Nothing with a real message. Now that I’m awake, I want to sleep. Let’s focus on that. What if we had the ability to turn our minds inside out? To have the strength to make reality the dream and the dream our reality? In the new age dream you’d be able to feel, not win lotteries and singing in tune wouldn’t be possible. Would anyone want to fall asleep? Meditation would be the only resting place. This is how I think! To be present with possibility. Not to stimulate the brain but to be aware of the strange. Which we’ve experienced over the past 24 months. It’s as if we’ve been living within the pages of science fiction. Who knew we could fly a helicopter on Mars? Now they’re saying we’re going to live side by side with the pandemic. Winning the Power Ball Lottery will still be an impossibility. What do you dream? Do you listen to them? What if you turned them inside out?

The Lyrics From Billy's Forest Chapter 276
Listen to "The Lyrics From Billys Forest Chapter 276" on Spreaker.
Sitting in a forest hoping it's energy will become words on a page. Then I realize, this is no different than walking up to a comedian telling them to say something funny. Hey Michael Bolton sing a real love song! Or the one that gets me, "We knew you were in radio. Listen to that voice." Which is why I gently glide them into a great conversation about this isn't my voice. It's the growing result of forty two years of great program directors and radio consultants shaping me. Overlooking this forest on the deck puts me twenty three feet up into the trees. That's when I take note of how the trees, tall grasses and slow paced stream aren't really doing the talking. It's what I call "God Space." In all things that we have done, it was planned out days, months or years before you got here. And today happens to be the moment you chose to listen and or react. So many of us live in our past. Everything you do today will be fed by an event from chapters already written. Being mindful of your present means living in the Now. Receiving the story as it's being given to you. It has nothing to do with your past. I don't practice stream thinking. I live it. A lot of us do plenty of practicing bad. Write for ten minutes a day. No judgement. No subject at hand. Just write. Learning to trust the present doesn't just happen. The goal is to know it so you can wear it. The very second someone asks me to write something I freeze up. Stream writing frees me up. If you don't want to write then record your voice on the smartphone. Talk for ten minutes straight. It will get easier then more you work the exercise into your life.

Stream Thinking: Face To Face
Listen to "Stream Thinking Face To Face" on Spreaker.
I spent most of my December of 2021 observing people returning to office party celebrations. For many it was a struggle. One person told me that it seemed strange to take note of how tall a co-worker was versus what was being shared via Zoom. The craziness is far from over. The report today said we've had a 948% increase in Covid cases. We are human. We need interaction. Face to face. Person to person. To not only smell you but to feel your vocal vibrations fill the room. I made a choice in September of 2020 to get out there with people at a place of business sporting the label of being essential. This was long before the Delta variant kicked our tail. Learning to listen to people through their eyes is the best way I can describe the experience. I love it when people cruise through the grocery store just to have interaction. A new community has been lifted from the ashes. A man told me yesterday, "We've entered this new age of being heard as well as seen. Two years ago I was just another object in the way of others." Face to face.
