I know for a fact I’m not the only one admitting this. Not a good night last night. With all that’s moving around us and through us I’m shocked that any of us are still standing. My eyes were shut by my mind wouldn’t shut down. Did I meditate? Did I rely on Nidra to calm the inner core of a war? Nope. I got up to write. Not a good decision. Once the creative imagination is activated there’s a required time it demands to play out before checking out. 11:58pm quickly became 2:51am. There’s not enough coffee in the world to wake up this writer. Not even a walk through the forest on a rainy Christmas Eve Day is going to play well. Nobody wants a warrior that fails to show up during a time of need. Here’s the thing. I said it in the beginning. I’m not the only one present in this storm. What I’ve learned through several years of study is how to make and take the biggest step. You need to stay away from the headlines. I’m talking more than Chris Cuomo and Rush Limbaugh. Your headlines. Oh my daughter hates me again. How am I going to pay that bill? Amazon didn’t deliver that package. Back away from the headlines. I’m gonna say something that’s going to fly miles above your head. I’m ok if you have to go back and read it three or four times. Lord knows when it fell out of my writing instrument I sat there thinking, “WTF?” Pay attention. As a people we’ve allowed ourselves to be bombarded by unfactual actuals and brain washed examples that are built to resemble authentic stars in a daylight sky. As a people. You and me. Your neighbors and family. As a people. We’ve allowed ourselves to be bombarded by unfactual actuals and brain washed examples that are built to resemble authentic stars in a daylight sky. I didn’t start writing at 11:58pm because I was depressed, felt fear, shame, doubt and anxiety. That creative little wild monkey inside needed to see the light of day at midnight. That energy source where thoughts are no longer ideas but turn into physical steps of reality. So many of us are consumed by our headlines that we’ve forgotten how to be us. Candy coated plastic bathroom mirror smiles waiting to be turned into a Facebook post. No matter who you are or where you live. You were born to be creative. This nation. This planet cannot get back on its feet in post Covid without your creative energy and source. Now is the time to give it some love and attention. Do not quit your creative self. Sure you’ve had to readjust but it’s not over. You are needed to make things work. Tap into your creative self. Listen to its expectations. Be nice to it. Allow your inner child to have a voice in the reconstruction of the world. 11:58pm is only a number. Use your experiences on this journey to evolve into chapter of resurrected success.

In theaters only is Promising Young Women. This has to be one of the first films where you want all viewers to keep hush after you experience it. Becoming aware of your sub-cultured life. There’s the effect and the aftereffect. The physical act of belonging to without participating with the expected process designed to meet the demands of progress. Whoa! That was a lot to take in! The physical act of belonging to without participating with the expected process designed to meet the demands of progress. Being faith filled within the forest that live is a subculture. The way this collection of trees is 100% the opposite of societies perfectly pruned limbs and sculpted lawns. Both points of direction are beautiful. Let me put it a different way. One of your passions is listening to music. I’ve played music on the radio for 41 years. The subculture is how I believe you would probably be a greater radio talent because of your passion for sound whereas I’ve seen what actually takes place behind the curtain. The connection is music. The subculture is how it’s presented. I totally respect both sides! Here’s where it’s going to get heavy. The only reason why any of this came up in my daily writing was because of what is seen and not seen as being Christian. I study. I activate. I’m deeply involved with community. The sub-cultured life is that I don’t participate with the four walls of a church. I tithe by way of what my heart has been led to. It’s joyful to hit a website and share. But does that make me less of a Christian? I’m one of those people that falls under the label of being spiritual, universal and open to all beliefs and structures or lack of. Another words I don’t fit in. Which is why I love the moments I get while sitting in a forest. All of these trees, streams, lakes and wandering array of collected animals are alive and living. Through each of their personal experiences by way of wind, water, light and darkness, winter and summer their sub-cultured presence paints for the heart equal love. Equal respect. The point of this paragraph. Long before March 2020, each of us have walked several miles clinging to the spirit of what gives us presence in a modern world. Learning to respect another person’s subculture was either tolerated or not associated with. Since March 2020 our personalities and lifestyles have changed. Subculture is larger than life. Taking the time to listen is more important than forging unseen paths. Don’t be a Dr. Phil but rather a link to furthered growth of a generation that has to provide. Being a people watcher I’m truly interested in how our workplace cliques will evolve once decision makers reopen their businesses 75 to 90%. What will the new Teamwork attitude look like? Subcultures have been crafted. Will they be broken apart by the hands of the mighty check writer or can our steps into an unpredictable future equally love and equally respect? The answer to that question starts with you. Being a leader in your decision making. Allow your subculture be to present not dominate. We’re all moving through a storm and history needs us to locate and activate peace.

December 22, 2020
A different kind of Christmas. That’s the subject of my Stream Thinking writing exercise. One page. Ten minutes. No editing. How can you keep the Christmas of 2020 down to a page? A tough year. Not just for you, me, the neighborhood but the world. You already know that. We’ve become the generation of nations that’ve accepted the unexpected. We need a break. Space. To rejuvenate the inner spirit that makes being human unique and blessed with strength. I think it starts with a physical decision to stop saying, “I need.” We’re driving Amazon and Walmart crazy! I need. To be kept up to date with headlines every chance I get. I need to land my eyes on those addictive websites. I need each and every one of them lined up. Convinced there’s balance in life when you take them all in. This past weekend I heard something that wasted no time getting into my creative soul. The movie Sound Of Metal. Big time Heavy Metal drummer becomes deaf. Not slowly. Overnight. Boom! Out goes the lights. He had to disconnect from the world he once knew. To learn how to communicate. To embrace. To grow. It wasn’t easy. He wanted the implants. Life will be better again. You know back to normal. His mentor calmly invited him to try a daily exercise, “Walk into the room that I’ve provided for you and learn how to live deaf.” Stop! Rewind. Learn how to live deaf? Accept all that is real. Begin a process of learning in a way of not injuring. Get your mind off the quick fix back to normal. Learn how to live deaf. Instantly this movie grabbed me by the nap of the neck. As a globe we are living with something we don’t have control over and we’re wasting enormous amounts of energy and time trying to locate the implants. As mentioned. I’ve got a horrible problem with staying too close to the headlines. During this digital age every person has a voice. A single thought from their writing instrument can become what feels like the quick fix. Only to face plant the soul into another trashed out day of let’s pretend. What if we agreed to do the daily exercise from the movie? Walk into a room. No digital devices. A cup of coffee. A donut, writing instrument and pad of paper. No music. You. With yourself. Learning how to live deaf. How quickly will you become angry? Deprivation is a horrible place to walk. Do you stay in the room? Thinking of it as a place of misery and discipline? I’m a daily writer. I’ve experienced the jotting down of thought for 27 years. But never by myself. Wanna take a walk? A new journey? Learn to live deaf…

A Walk In The Real World

December 18, 2020
Nidra. That’s my meditation. Over 2,000 years old. It’s what I study. It’s what I live. Nidra. And in allowing it to be my meditation it has this amazing sense of direction that gifts the mind body and soul with a feeling of being free of what blocks the path. To do more than rest and or mend what invisibly could be cracked. It’s everything you are and how to be present in this place of Now. In saying that I must admit that I’m having a difficult time coming away from Nidra this new sun. The moments of peace, clarity, mental growth and stability usually last about 45 minutes. Then you open your eyes and take on the day or night. Last night was different. It went on for hours. Nidra. Peace, clarity, mental growth and stability. Inside the mind body and soul. Inside. Are you getting the picture? It’s getting tough for a lot of people to step out into the real world. The lingering pandemic. The latest word that Pfizer has millions of vaccines but the leaders of the nation are holding back. I’m not going to turn this into a Chris Cuomo post. Nidra. The world of politics still beating the cracked egg shells covering our skin. The mental images of the millions of renters who will soon be homeless and the landlord’s right there with them. Nidra. Having a hard time coming out this morning. Why should I? Nidra. Peace, clarity, mental growth and stability. Nidra isn’t sleeping. It’s resting. It’s healing and unlocking what has blocked. The goals are met when my body stops moving and there can be no mental pictures. Where are you seeds of solitude? Holding onto what invites peace to your path can actually turn into hoarding. When you get too much of a good thing. It keeps you from having to deal. Cool place right? I’m not so sure. Come on. Let’s go for a walk. We can’t keep ourselves inside the head and heart. For the world has changed. Life right now feels like we’re herding cats. Everybody’s moving in directions we can’t relate with. Therefore the attempt is to push away. Not to Ghost or unfriend. To deal with. No… There must always be connection and communication. Lead. You know the rules. You’ve been training for ten months. Lead by being present. Cleanse the mind but don’t live there. Lead.

The Lyrics From Billy's Forest Chapter 228
Listen to "The Lyrics From Billys Forest Chapter 228" on Spreaker.
December 17, 2020
One of the most amazing things about 2020 is the number of brilliant sunsets we’ve fallen witness to. You can’t help but be present with an energy that doesn’t see you but it moves through you. To always catch a sunset doesn’t get old but as a human always on the run you can’t help but feel like a taker rather than a collaborator. No matter how hard we try to push ourselves onto nature’s canvas, the elegance of the dance never includes our humanisms. The choice should be mindfulness. It’s a relationship with the energy source. We are to serve it. It’s not supposed to be for our entertainment. It’s human nature to spend tremendous amounts of time trying to be part of something. To want to be more of a giver than taker. Sharing things with others. But in 2020 it feels like everything we want to share is never enough. The shape of people’s eyes and hearts aren’t hidden behind masks. We who stand next to you feel your universe. And the experience isn’t always in harmony with the sky on fire. It’s as if we’re spending what little energy we have left on trying to get upstream. The goal should be to get back into the flow. I’m a kayaker. I’ve battled many rushing rivers. Getting upstream isn’t anything more than a challenge. But how many are you willing to face during these dimmed days of a pandemic out of control? Flow. Where is the flow? Make it a priority to reach into a valuable resource of energy invited by all living things. Including a sunset that most of us until March of 2020 might have caught. Usually off guard. We are facing many different types of storms. A day of challenge means more change. Unanswered questions versus answers we probably don’t agree with. All this while the sky catches on fire and your heart finds amazing peace. So many people speaking of uncertainty. Too many people warning about the darkest of days. We are certain that we’ll receive even more bad news. It’s how we’ve chosen to digest the process. There’s no progress in being certain about uncertainty. You know what certainty is! You've’ invested a lot of certainty in being uncertain. Use your certainty to take in more than a sunset. Be there when the sun rises. Use your certainty knowing the grocery store will be open. Don’t think about having no toilet paper and paper towels. Be certain that who you are in this present place of Now is a choice maker. Winning is a choice. Certainty is a choice. Find your certainty. And when you feel uncertain call it out. Use your physical voice “No! I am certain! And in this certainty you have no place to grow!” Uncertainty isn’t 2020 new. The J man. When they took him in. He was uncertain of what they were going to do. But he was more certain that he was serving his father. Therefore he knew what to do. There are answers in certainty. Make the choice to believe in yourself.

Stream Thinking Vocal Tones
Listen to "Stream Thinking Vocal Tones" on Spreaker.
December 15, 2020
I’m a stream thinker. Free form writer. It’s my discipline. To be present without the edit. To see the world the way it is then put it on paper. In doing so my inner eye has taken note of how our vocal tones have changed over the past ten months. The way we gather is a shape of raised vocals tones. We meet with peace filling our hearts. Nobody wants to be left out and as humans it’s a necessity to have community. There’s always a reaction to the action. We’re living it. The Great Surge of 2020. The news anchor yesterday calmly said with authority in his presentation, “Every minute. Sixty ticks on the clock. One America dies because of Covid 19.” Our vocal tones! We had to prove them wrong! We elevated our presence by standing family strong. Knowing the playing field would change but the numbers say… Vocally, with our God given opportunity we share several thoughts. But nothing moves the masses more than when we put body language in between the words with speak. We’ve raised our vocal tones. There’s a reaction to every action and in this moment how we are using our bodies to communicate is sending out messages that aren’t being received the way they were meant to be. I wasn’t trained to read eyes. Nor was I given a pair of ears that can decipher mumble speak. Therefore we’re all having a difficult time herding the cats. Have you ever heard of that term? Reading your body language. Teaming it up with your speaking voice. What messages are you sending out? I am a people watcher. I was trained to be. Earning a third degree black belt means watching the flow. So in this short moment of stream thinking. Free form writing. I ask, “Have our vocal tones changed?” What are you bringing to the gathering? I saw a news story over the weekend. A mother was vocally upset that she got Covid 19. She attended a Thanksgiving dinner with her daughter in law who invited over friends. Friends that made no mention of coming from out of state. The mother is upset. I’m sorry. But the experts asked us very politely to not gather. Our vocal tones by way of body language was to buck the system. The triple crown of holiday’s still has two more huge moments. How will your vocal tones change knowing this nation is losing one person every minute? In which language are you choosing to speak?

Just 5 Minutes

December 11, 2020
How often do you take note of how your mind doesn’t want to be activated? Is it happening more these days than any other time? Or you’ve recognized what it’s like to be at work with what appears to be a slower sense of expectation. No matter how much you’re struggling with trying to stay free of the headlines or staying off social media, the information overload warning light is blinking like lightning from a summertime thunderstorm. Your thoughts aren’t being mentally flushed. Just because you might be talking to a friend or family member doesn’t mean the mind body and soul are letting go. One of the main causes is how the job front has changed for millions of us. So much time and energy was invested in a career and because of the current state of the world those dreams and ambitions have put your energy at a job you never saw yourself doing. More importantly during times you once saw as being the weekend. Two days off! 48 hours! Not so much anymore. Maybe a day here and a day there. For me, my weeks come with no days away. Therefore I’ve learned to use hours as that break. Our homes have changed. Once upon a time in a land far far away we loved our homes for its warmth, togetherness and security. Today our homes are your business, your child’s school and even church. Your home is a small town hidden behind four walls. No wonder the mind doesn’t want to be activated. You’re not giving it enough space to replenish. The sub conscience and conscience mind aren’t agreeing with your present place in the now. So no brain activation for you! It’s completely natural to feel like you need a reward. Reports show those moments of relief are still present only in different shapes and forms. You don’t need a blogger and podcaster to remind you to keep your watchful inner eye on what your vices have evolved into. The goal today is to activate the mind. To believe in the purpose. To be available and fulfilled. To write can right. To locate five minutes to read a book will right. To listen to meditation music will right. To sit alone in the car without anything playing will right. Five minutes. Give your mind a daily discipline of this time is mine. It’s your reward for showing up. Five minutes. As we evolve during these unexpected challenges and changes the first step of your everyday is to recognize your new beginning. Be grateful of the neighbor’s dog barking. Be available to pick up a sheet of paper that’s been blowing in the wind for a couple of days. Say hello to the mail carrier. From out of nowhere step up to the cash register at a grocery store and give a person of 65 or older five or ten bucks. Smile then wish them a great day. 5 minutes. The truer more rewarding gifts to yourself are there. Learn to be you in a very strange world.

Invisible Anger
Listen to "Invisible Anger" on Spreaker.
December 10, 2020
I’m gonna come out and ask the question, “Are we all holding onto invisible anger?” Unspoken because life’s personal experiences have taught us to hide from the truths of reality. You know! Out of sight out of mind! What we don’t recognize doesn’t exist. Invisible anger. How much do you do you have tucked inside of that heart? Look. I’m one of those people that’s chosen to remain out there on the street of the everyday people. Essential working. It’s with people I don’t know. Hundreds every day! I’m horrified! But my mind body and soul are saying, “Keep walking through the storm.” I can see the changes in your eyes. Just because your candy coated plastic bathroom mirror smile is hidden behind a mask doesn’t mean your body language isn’t speaking loud and clear. You’ve heard me bring this up before. Winning is a choice. I live every day by activating it every morning. Winning is a choice. We choose to be frustrated. We choose to want fight as well as fear. It’s a choice. So when I ask if we’re holding onto invisible anger it’s not to blow on smoldering embers. It’s to help unlock the block. Winning is a choice is a lifestyle that’s been teamed up with meditation, prayer and extreme amounts of writing. Not books, songs or movie scripts. Free form thinking. Stream writing. Being present and taking notes. The UK and Canada have said yes to the Pfizer vaccine. But rarely do we hear about the other sickness. A generation of mental illness caused by the effects of everything that’s unfolded this season. I ask every person I come in contact with how they’re doing. How’s the family spirit? Things good at work? Remote teaching for your kids or get them back into class? If I don’t start the conversation then there’s invisible anger knocking on your soul and it wants to come out. Is it ok to say, “All is not well.” The healing has to begin through the strength of awareness. Instead of sharing an open wound the decisions being made are fed by an amazing increase in vices. What’s your chosen go to? Where you hiding? Have you found what you’ve been looking for? It must be something because nearly every person I see daily has their nose buried in that smart phone. What are you looking for? When you find it, will you share it with the rest of us? I chuckle over that vision. Not because it’s funny but I’ve been left with a vision of our present place. The USA is treating the Pfizer vaccine like an Outlet Mall. We go to the Outlets to buy cheap un-perfect items. Having the best isn’t a requirement. Today we might be the third nation to approve the vaccine. Third! Maybe fourth, fifth, tenth. Lead the way. Don’t stand around with your life waiting for people to show you the way. Winning is a choice. Lead the way. Look into your heart not at the headlines. Lead by getting the conversation started.

December 8, 2020
We don’t need a posted note to remind us about how crazy our weather year has been. Have the tropical storms stalled or have we evolved into a new season? I find great peace in watching a tree leaf leap outward into its final dance. It’s as if they envisioned it from the moment they grew from a bud back in the spring. Watching the leaves glide through the invisible air has always brought out my true kid self. It makes me believe that I too can fly. All this talk about leaves falling makes me wonder why a tree sheds such incredible layers of protection. I always thought leaves helped collect water in the atmosphere to help feed the roots. Not so true. Leaves are energy stealers. When a tree goes into the winter months it needs to conserve as much energy as possible because for many places the ground becomes dry. This opens my heart to take a closer look at our own seasons. Especially the one that’s been clinging to us since March of 2020. How many leaves have you lost during these Covid days to guarantee your inner self that a drought wouldn’t weaken your roots? Not some but all of our lives have changed. New careers are being shaped while others have had to readjust to remote learning for their children, doing office work in a very tiny spare room and eating less because with so much uncertainty the next dollar might be weeks away. When I ask of your personal leaves and how many have you dropped that might include old habits, one time daily outings, working out in a real gym to no longer trusting your neighbors and family members because they might have come in contact with Covid. There for a while people were joking about Covid 15, which was a gain in weight. Completely natural to hit the food during uncertain times. For the longest time I was giving myself permission to go unshaven and let the hair look like a 1970’s Classic Rock band. Then one day I looked in the bathroom mirror and saw the inner child holding onto something that wasn’t positive. Losing my leaves meant I needed to reshape my process of protest. It’s very obvious that we can’t win this Covid thing without shedding leaves. In reality that puts us in control of what leaves or stays. Gain access to what you’re willing to control. But what leaves are you willing to give up? Awareness requires the ability to know. To know what? Being present. Tree leaves feed the earth below. It shelters squirrels in homes above the lay of the land and deer find reason to lay within. Which brings me back to your leaves. With what you’ve let go of has it served as feed for your soil? Gaining access to what you’re willing to control. Daily. Hourly. Just like a tree preparing for the arrival of spring.

Use Your Words
Listen to "Use Your Words" on Spreaker.
December 4, 2020
Words. I love me some words. Always have. My second grade teacher Mrs. Keefe caught onto that very early. Using my words got me through graduation. The teachers all came together and agreed to give me more writing time. It kept me interested in school. It was a lot better than being who I was. An injured hockey player with his knee swollen bigger than an old oak tree down by the lazy river. Three knee surgeries kept me out of school. But the teachers wouldn’t let me stop. Words! They let me use my words. I had a great conversation with John Holiday from NBC’s The Voice yesterday. I thought I loved words until I sat down with John. Oh my! His passion for words electrifies the atmosphere. He’s having a difficult time writing. I get it. He’s on one of the biggest shows on the planet! Words don’t always have to be used. As writers we’re all different. We craft our way through the process of thought coming up with our own set of plans and rules. Sadly we also feel a huge guilt trip when we can’t live up to our daily expectation. Melissa De La Cruz and I talked about her limitations. She’s written fifty books. She stays strong because writing to her is a job and nobody gets in front of her weekend. Not even a passion to write. Because I’m a daily writer. I make it my discipline to show up every day. It’s my open conversation. A spiritual walk. A place to reshape a frame of mind as well as plan things out. When I do get hired to write. I’m not so much the free form thinker. I dig in. The personality changes. The goals are set and met. A completely different personality. I do wonder a lot about words. How many of them do we physically use? Not say! Use… Most radio stations have 350 songs on their daily playlist. What’s on our daily verbal list? How are you using your words? These Covid days have quieted a lot of creative minds. We’ve gotten busy trying to catch up while not get caught up in all the drama. Words today have been silenced because of what we believe and all we really want is peace. So we stop using our words. Things are building up. You’re gonna pop. When you do. Make sure you choose your words wisely. Grow forward and outward. Use your words.

Coffee Grounds
Listen to "Coffee Grounds" on Spreaker.
December 3, 2020
I remember hearing Dolly Parton share the story of how extremely early Country Music was how people learned of regional news. They’d put tragedy and or experience into the lyrics of a song. Then it was sent on its way. Look at how the times have changed. It’s getting very difficult to keep free of the evolving headlines. CNN and FOX fool us by changing the title but the story remains. You think you’re on the brink of something breaking and it’s the same ole crap you read three days ago. Now we’ve entered the age of television shows embracing the issues by including Covid and our nation’s struggles into what used to be an escape from the world. We can’t get away. In prayer this morning I mentioned that the Sunday morning pulpit motivational speeches weren’t healing us. Lifted yes! But for how long? An hour? A couple of days? How do we get to this thing called healing? Do we reach for it? How do we prepare for it? What is the total emotional cost to get a chunk or a chip of this thing called healing? Part of my greater worry is how affected we as a generation will be in the aftermath. Yep! That time period where we come to an agreement of finally being set free from the struggles of uncertainty. The aftermath. What will we look like? How will we think? Kids are living an educational nightmare right now. They’re mentally and physically evolving in ways no person could predict. The economy isn’t a bouquet of roses. Companies remain frozen inside a type of history they didn’t ask for. I feel deeply for remote employees. I spend a lot of time sharing conversation with them at the grocery store. They keep coming back because they need someplace to go without feeling guilty about being socially distanced. The daily goal shouldn’t be an hourly grind. We’re tired! Here’s something to think about. Coffee beans have to be ground. I mean give that bean hell. I want the best flavor and the air has to be scented with elegance. Grind those beans! Your life is currently being ground. For many of us we’ve got uncertainty covered. It’s not comfortable but our daily grind is feeding our willing walk and way. But what are you doing with your grounds? You can’t reuse coffee grounds. What are you doing with your grounds? My father would take them outside and spread them across the lawn. He said, “Worms love coffee grounds.” Those worms loved my father. His lawn was always incredible. Are you replenishing your soil with used coffee grounds? Being present in your presence. Grinding through life then taking those grounds to reinforce the foundation. Find focus on being aware of how this new way of living is moving through you. It’s too easy to #weneedamiracle. You are the miracle. Every day. Take care of your soil. My coffee grounds are the words I put onto paper. I don’t sip from that cup but the unpredictable first steps of a daily new beginning serve as a place of outreach. Stop throwing out your grounds. Utilize the continued strength. For today is a new day to grind.

The Big Change
Listen to "The Big Change" on Spreaker.
December 2, 2020
I could give you a long list of excuses. But that’s all they are. I’ve been absent from this recording studio for eleven unanswered days. The daily writing hasn’t stopped. If anything it’s gained. I just can’t figure out how life got in the way except to say we’re all going through the big change. Not the big change your parents always talked about. The big change of 2020. Mine includes being out on the frontline. Yeah! Out there! Not for a quick trip then back in the studio but hours at a time. Face to face. Got my mask. Wear it with pride. No plastic gloves though. Not fighting anything. Just use my hands a lot. Out there on the frontline. With you, your neighbors, community and people you’ve never met. My daily de-frag journal is filled with so many questions without having to raise the voice or increase the beats in the heart. I had to face the big change. Answer the calling. Allow the command to put me right there. The big change. So many of us are going through it. Careers that ended or have been stalled. Making up our minds to take what we know and put it on a different playing field. And you know what? It’s working. Using the very skills that have shaped a forty one radio career out there on the frontline in the center of real people. You honestly are so incredibly funny. I always thought being in a studio sharing content and music was being with you. No! There’s a huge difference between being with you and being there, right there with you. As a people going through the big change you’ve got stories. I’m listening. We’re sharing compassion, laughing about anything and still carrying life’s Olympic torch to a path of victory. The big change. Are you having to make choices that don’t agree with your dreams? Do you fear you’ll never get back what a pandemic has taken away? Don’t walk away from the big change. In everything you have done there is a connection. What truly appears to you as a wall is actually an open door or window. Move through it. I’ve learned so much about you by being with you. Not for a brief moment but to replenish, repair and recognize a newer path of accountability that reaches beyond what we felt comfortable with in that place called Normal. Is there such a place? Normal? The big change with Normal. My wife is back to remote teaching. I’m in the studio. Our new normal feels like we’ve returned to March 2020. Not in lockdown yet but when the big change doesn’t call me in to work, it’s like Normal has turned back the hands of time. I don’t want to get back to Normal by walking back through February and January of 2020. Then December 2019. Normal! The big change. Then this thought fell from my writing instrument. Normal is invisible. Some people believe in it. Some don’t. Normal is invisible. Jesus is invisible. Some people believe. Some don’t. The big change. Keep walking forward.

The Key
Listen to "The Key" on Spreaker.
November 20, 2020
The key. I see you have one too. Yet nowhere on the walls in front of us is there a door or window. So why are we holding a key? For millions around the world they’d love to turn that key into an object that’ll open the front gate at a place of business. Being upfront and extremely transparent. There are days when it’s extremely difficult to find direction during these moments of stream thinking and free form writing. The very reason why I picked up daily writing in July of 1994 is nowhere close as to why it continues to grow in 2020. But it’s never been an easy discipline. I’m no different than you. We’re twisted by the turbulence of the daily headlines. Anxiety has overtaken our ambition to sport a fake smile and candy coated plastic bathroom mirror positive attitudes. Come clean. No matter how cluttered your space is, you feel alone. Stuck in a room with no air conditioning. Plus every word you’d like to share is silence because society doesn’t need any more rage. You’re not the fight starter! It’s the picture makers. The interpreters. Here’s why I think a great conversation turns into a disagreement. We as a people. I’m including everyone. We as a people assume we know what someone’s next sentence or thought is going to be. Look at how often we interrupt a point of view without the carrier of the message finishing. Now put on a Covid mask. Until March 2020 I had no clue how much I read other people’s lips. Not only are we trying to finish their sentences but we can’t hear them. So our imaginations make up the story. Invisible monsters that know how to trip your trigger. And when you do get mentally off balance you pray to God that you don’t turn into a Karen. There’s always another person with a smartphone documenting the conversation. I’ve turned one of my triggers into a process of testing the strength of a telemarketer. Why in God’s name has this interruption increased since Covid? Oh wait because there are a ton of people at home binge watching television so we’ve become their target. Which clearly gives me a reason to make them my target. I don’t hang up. I give them the most bizarre freaky weird stupid answers that mean absolutely nothing. Many of them do a lot laughing while others eventually hang up. I talk about my six trips on the Space Shuttle and what it was like to land on Venus. We talk about how I’m about to purchase Walmart. And there are times I stop and say, “Oh my God. It’s God. You are God. You are making this call to get my mind off this world. Can I interview you God? Let me turn on the recorder! So God. Um the shortage of toilet paper. Really?” Why am I doing this? I have a key. You have a key. We have walls around us every second of every day. There are no doors. There are no windows. What is this key for? Your heart. Let’s locate authentic peace. It begins by stepping away from stress and walking through the front door of giving someone else the opportunity to also escape. The key. Use it.

Damn Google Calendar
Listen to "Damn Google Calendar" on Spreaker.
November 19, 2020
Google Calendar is a great map to sink you journey into. But does it teach us to stop the physical act of memory? How often do you test yourself? I don’t mean mental images of the family at the beach or your childhood photographs. Memory! Knowing what’s on your plate today. Remembering what you accomplished two days ago or what needs to get finished before the weekend. Technology has made us lazy. Look at what spell check has done. Because I do a lot of writing on physical paper I must also include having a dictionary nearby. As we grow deeper into this new world of A.I’s we’re being told that life will be easier. I can’t help but think how much we’re going to lose as human beings. Look how quickly we get out of tune when we stop doing a particular thing at work only to come back to it in a month. We sit there for a few moments and think about the project and all the shortcuts invented by an imagination just trying to get it done. Our mind body and souls were designed to be challenged and changed. A vision of Space Odyssey is flowing through my memories. Having physical conversations with a computer blessed with the ability to think for us. Don’t get me wrong. I love Google Calendar, Grammarly, the Roomba and the Landroid lawnmower from Worx. Sadly though it paints the picture of the circular motion of the heavy weight, extremely lazy unable to walk characters in the film Wall-E. The only expectation of the day will be to climb onboard a moving lawn chair. In reality you’ve got to challenge your senses. Your brain needs to be worked and technology has done its wargames on your emotions. We don’t need to get news and information that fast. Most of us don’t know what to do with it after we are connected. I personally challenge my day to day memory and like a parent I hold myself responsible for not knowing the answer. The daily writing is to make sure I keep myself in touch with contact. Pen to paper not fingers on a keyboard. Computer screens offer too many opportunities to quickly erase whereas writing you’ve got to think about it a little more. Ask yourself in the middle of the night what you had for dinner? Challenge your memory without the aid of a car key locator. If you ever want to read about the effects of A.I’s dive into the pages of how the radio industry is living it. The business of radio wins. The performers are gone for good. How are A.I’s changing your workplace? It’s time to build your next platform before the industry of progress catches up.

The Lyrics From Billy's Forest Chapter 226
Listen to "The Lyrics From Billys Forest Chapter 226" on Spreaker.
November 17, 2020
I’ve made a change in my daily writing. Directing a lot of the attention toward a future reader. Recognizing them way back here in their presence of Now. It’s pretty difficult being open and honest with someone you’ll never meet. How do you tell them that your President once had Covid 19 and somehow someway got through it in a couple of days? There’ve been few changes in the national protesting. The political leaders are still taking swipes at each other. At the end of this letter to a future reader I wrote, “God hasn’t stopped us.” I pause to take a good look at the forest outside this studio. It has an incredible way of helping me erase uncertainty. It provides life beyond human need and fear. A six point buck greeted me in the forest this morning. His universal expression carried with it a huge message. His strong stance inspired me to pull my shoulders back. His dark brown steady eyes offered me lessons with focus. There were three doe and two fawn nearby which invited me to a stronger truth. Family comes first. I keep reminding myself of the multiple times we as a generation have been challenged while facing questions about any day moving forward. Somehow we made it through each storm. In looking back much of it has been lost in the clutter. The most difficult part about being a daily writer? On any day of the week I can open any journals and relive a moment. Good, bad or ugly it’s right in there on a page in ink. No pencil. I might be inspired to erase history. Dear Future Reader…

Hit The Road
Listen to "Hit The Path" on Spreaker.
November 13, 2020
Did you know that anxiety and fear only look the same but aren’t? Fear deals with what’s happening right now whereas anxiety deals with what’s in front of us. Both get your heart rate up and both have a way of ripping us down. The smallest things are taking us out. A simple checkup at the doctor today has me spinning in circles. The doctor! Covid central! People go to the doctor when things aren’t right. Not when the world is looking good. I did all I could to get in by 7am. The first! No go. Then meet me out in the car! Nope. Man, these are some changing times. 10.5 million Covid cases in America. Nothings changing. Because we won’t change! I didn’t have any problems going to the dentist a few weeks back. Why this reaction to the doctor? Probably cuz I always feel guilty. I’m not one of those perfect people. I have to look at the little things. I’ve lost weight since our last pow wow. No Covid 15 for me! I walk a lot. In touch with nature. Meditation on the move. Listening to the wind. Studying the art of the universe. Got to keep my legs strong. If the nation falls we’re all gonna have to hit the path. The weak are always left behind. Got my meditation music on right now. Inside this out of control world are millions of minds that are making matters worse by way of putting energy into the presence of fear and anxiety. The little things! Concentrate on the stuff we naturally push away. My very very very loud bird chuckled when I whispered “I love you.” The little things! You feel peace not pieces. Your heart calms before the next storm. I used my Picasso writing instrument this morning. It’s so smooth. Yessssss! The little things! If you’ve ever used a pen that feels like its dragging then you know why the Picasso was the perfect choice. With so much negativity endlessly reshaping us it’s so easy to get wrapped up in other people’s drama. You can listen but you can’t carry it with you. When the conversation comes to a conclusion dump your trunk right there on the spot. If you don’t it’s gonna turn into gossip and have a bad after taste. Be in control of your worry by knowing the route to physical conversations and not texting or emailing. Too much emotion is wasted on assuming you know where another person mentally is. Pick up the phone and start the talk. Flip the switch on anxiety and fear by being present here. Knowing how to belong without having to misbehave. Awareness of your emotions and feelings is a great sport to play but when it’s the only thing you’re playing it burns out your systems of choice. Be present. Be prepared to say, “No not today.” Get control of what’s taking you out.

Golly Gee

November 12, 2020
There's no magic trick in the art of self-motivation. Therefore the hand isn't quicker than the eye. Being present is the only solution. Knowing how the power of Now has the willingness to super serve the actuality. There needs to be truth in the physical experience and not an attempt to redesign the formation of thought. When I say, “Winning is a choice,” I have to be ready to live it. I can’t just say it. I have to believe in the empowerment of winning being a choice. And when left empty I need to utilize that energy by way of activating the statement. If winning is the choice, so is the empty heart and lack of ambition. To stay in that frame of thought is a walk and way of life. You don’t use the sentence as a go to movement by way of faking the mental attitude. It has to be the mindset that prevails over all things. It’s no different than what people were saying back in the 1980’s “What would Jesus do?” You can’t just say it and expect change. You have to live it. To become part of the path and journey. You put yourself in the shoes of a great teacher. What would you do? The step is to make a choice. If it’s a story already lived there’s a huge chance that it’s being rewritten. To which I ask, “How many times?” We’ve evolved into this generation that’s giving itself permission to wishfully let things fade from sight. If we don’t see it then it didn’t exist. Living off the energy developed by a winning choice allows the present to have a place in the existence of Now. There’s no need to invest in past events or an untouched future. There’s enough going on right Now without having to drain your inner batteries on something that didn’t happen and probably never will. Tell your mind, “Winning is a choice.” Put your passion into it. Don’t let those voices inside your heart hear a weakened soul. Winning is a choice. Drop the microphone and leave the stage.
