The Seeds Located In Your Now

Listen to "The Seeds Located In Your Now" on Spreaker. During my early chapters of martial arts I trained hard on a simple thought, "Leave your job at the door. Be present in your place of now. Find peace here by way of choice." We've all had those days and storms where it seems like everything on the planet is just another page connected to a story you can't change. We're also extremely guilty of writing a story about an event that hasn't happened and won't come into play for several days or months. We weigh ourselves down with an atmosphere of either rewriting our past or trying to predict what can't be. On this podcast we leap onto the thought of evolving ourselves into a life of living in the present. Being mindful of your Now. It's not an easy task because they deeper you walk into its incredible empowerment the more friends and family members you're going to lose from your circle of relationships. Being present means staying clear of conversations of accusations and judgement calls connected to a past or future situation. Those around you find energy in being negative and or tearing another person apart. Your place in the Now doesn't require that kind of focus. For the love of God I hope this doesn't sound like a commercial but my consumption of Red Bull and Monster energy drinks totally dropped off the radar while walking this journey. The path and future weaken your awareness and willingness to want to grow toward success. Being present in your Now gives you the right amount of energy. If it's not there when you need it to be that's where a short experience with mediation gifts your system with a jolt of wow. Trusting your Now is a long term challenge because everything around you wants to be in your past or so far up front that you don't have time to deal with being happy right here. Find focus. In doing so you'll begin to believe as well as see that you are in control and have been the entire time. It was you who chose to give everybody else what they needed because all you wanted out of life was to be accepted. Your body reacted and will until you start listening to what it deserves.

Juliet Cutler

Listen to "Juliet Cutler Releases Among The Maasai" on Spreaker. AMONG THE MAASAI is “a valuable record, showing both the successes and limitations of education . . . [an] enlightening account of teaching in East Africa” (Kirkus Reviews). In 1999, Cutler set off to Tanzania to teach English at the first school built for at-risk Maasai girls in East Africa. Driven by her desire to replace the risk of rape, forced marriage, and genital cutting with the life-changing power of education, Juliet learned to work alongside local educators and leaders to maximize her efforts in the context of the Maasai culture. Cutler returns to Tanzania regularly and is an advocate for improving girls’ education. All proceeds from the sale of Among the Maasai support education for at-risk Maasai girls. Juliet Cutler is a writer, an educator, and an activist. "Among the Maasai" is Juliet’s first book, though her literary and professional publications number more than two dozen. She has taught writing in many settings including as adjunct faculty for the College of St. Scholastica in Minnesota. She holds an MA in English from Colorado State University and a BS in education from the University of North Dakota. Juliet currently lives with her husband, Mark, in a community near Atlanta. The 2019 tour will feature an all new presentation of group's unforgettable “Christmas Eve & Other Stories" which is based on the triple-platinum album of the same name and follows a story by TSO’s late founder/composer/lyricist Paul O’Neill. In keeping with the classic line “If You Want To Arrange It, This World You Can Change It,” the story is set on Christmas Eve when a young angel is sent to Earth to bring back what is best representative of humanity. Following favorite TSO themes of “strangers helping strangers” and “the kindness of others,” “Christmas Eve & Other Stories” takes listeners all over the world to help reunite a young girl with her distraught father. 2018 marked one of TSO’s best years on the road, with their hit tour and the release of the 20th Anniversary Edition of "The Christmas Attic". That tour made stops in 60 cities across North America and played to more than 975,000 people. The run was ranked No. 16 on the “Top 200 North American Tours” chart and No. 31 on the “Top 100 Worldwide Tours” chart by concert industry trade Pollstar magazine. Oddfellas

Listen to "Drake From Oddfellas On The Road" on Spreaker. Pampa, Texas, alternative rockers OddFellas premiere the music video for "Walk On By," a song from their upcoming self-titled debut EP. OddFellas is set for a worldwide release on September 20, 2019, via Pavement Entertainment. The EP is also available for pre-order and includes "Walk On By." Stream the track now on iTunes and Spotify. WALK ON BY Vocalist and guitarist, Drake Fisher, shares how "Walk On By" is a love song at its core, which documents rough patches in relationships. His marriage served as an inspiration. Fisher says, "I feel like nowadays all you see is people trying to prove how 'perfect' their relationships are. I wanted to be honest while writing this song. It’s not all butterflies and blue skies. Sometimes, you don’t even realize what you’re putting your spouse through, but during those times your spouse has no idea what you’re going through as well." Aaron Mckinney-Danner, manager of OddFellas, discusses the behind-the-scenes elements of the video for "Walk On By." He says, "While shooting this video, I truly wanted to capture the emotion behind the song. We used a basement under one of the venues the guys played at in our hometown and they gave us free rein. We spray painted the walls and even destroyed a couch. We wanted a dark setting with a 'broken home' feel to it that I hope everyone can relate to when they watch the video." OddFellas formed in 2017. The emerging band has toured actively since its inception. Some highlights include playing SXSW, Hell & Heaven Fest (Mexico City), Rocklahoma, and Sturgis Buffalo Chip.

Pod-Crashing Episode 28 Companionship

Listen to "Pod-Crashing Episode 28 Companionship" on Spreaker. Pod-Crashing Episode 28: I listen to a lot of podcasts. I study their behavior. Not as in numbers but the way each episode infects or affects my extremely busy day. Being a Broadcaster locked up in a control room can be a lonely place. It’s no different than a banker, movie theater GM, computer programmer and so on. The modern business world has shaped itself into a cluster of several offices with each player trapped inside 8 to 12 hours at a time. Podcasting is companionship. Whatever your taste, someone has designed a show. You feel like you belong. You part of. The content is stored in memory baskets to be used during those moments when you’re back to being face to face with friends and family. Podcasting is the new love song. It’s the Country song where the singer’s lost his wife, house and big ole dog named Bart. It’s that political friend that doesn’t get upset with your points of view or religious traveler always reminding your heart to locate peace before war. It can be funny, informative, far fetch and a total disconnect. Outside of my typical weekly run with Marc Maron, Dax Shepard Chelsea Handler and Bob Pittman’s Math and Magic, I took in Alec Baldwin’s podcast Here’s The Thing. I love that actors, musicians, book authors and CEO’s aren’t afraid of putting their stories out there. These hosts are up front and center capturing the perfect and awkward moments. Some conversations are mindful of the open space while others dig in and cough up the dirt. That’s because the hosts, their producers and others involved are focused on the product. They know exactly what they’re shooting for. Nobody’s winging it. Nor are they podcasting to become comedians, doctors, mansion sellers or football and basketball heroes. The stories shared aren’t the hosts with ample amounts of show prep. The guests have been given a place to plant their experiences and adventures. They’re allowed to take their time and truly express every emotion required to bring the story forward. This is why listeners tune in. As the host, it takes a lot of discipline to let your question sit out there longer than someone appearing on The View or James Corden. I get their speed and determination. Their interview methods are madness pressurized by time bombs connected to clocks and advertisers. That doesn’t mean you let the guest take over the show. One of the golden rules of radio news interviewing is to never let the person you’re talking with hold the microphone. Once it’s out of your hands you may never get it back. If you’re lucky enough to land someone for 20 minutes or longer, a performance discipline has to be ready to Rock. There I was about to have a conversation with television star and Shopping Channel guru Suzanne Summers. She was promoting her Tox-Sick book. Oh she’s very good at selling merchandise. One question deep into the conversation and woof! She was on the Kentucky Derby track reaching for the roses. It happens. Post production is your net. Rather than fight for the microphone, participate with their answers and get a deeper more affective conversation. Edit edit edit. There are so many different interviewing techniques. The one focal point you need to always keep in touch with is the listener. What’s the content? How is the content being delivered? How is it being received? Is it strong enough for listeners to make it part of a future conversation? I hear from other podcasters all the time about how a show could’ve been brilliant for listeners if the guest would’ve been more involved in the conversation. Most podcasters know how to equal out the content and conversation but feel like they’re letting their listeners down because one half of the episode features a disengaged second person. Once again, edit edit edit. I had a conversation yesterday with a book author that’s penned out a psychological reference book about a comic book villain. Hardcore detail. Brilliant experts featured. Sound bite answers. Very short and to the point. That’s not a conversation. That’s feeding a news room reporters ear which makes it easier to slip it into a three minute newscast. So I started stepping away from the book. Maybe too much away. He’s written a book about a comic book killer. I simply asked, “Have you ever thought about putting yourself in a prison cell with a real killer and breaking down their life like you have with this comic book killer?” Boom lights out! His only reply, “Not my thing.” I took on his answer. I wanted a story. I needed content. I had invested time and energy in show prepping. This wasn’t going to be a blah blah blah episode. I took him out of his interview mode into a pit of discomfort. The editor in me has to go into the conversation and turn it into an attraction. The author stopping could very well be the headline. Now answer the question why. Give it some front space, a lead in, allow listeners to hear your side. Then move forward to get a reaction. This is what I call podcast companionship. Being real with those who’ve chosen to jump on board. I didn’t hit my first million by dropping trash on the highway. It’s been about being faithful to listeners that show up. Not everybody famous or on their way is a good talker. I respect everyone that shows up. As a professional though I’m gonna get them into a Cheers Bar mental state of just talking. To hear the real voice. We all have stories. The mission is to share it. For many of us we aren’t lucky enough or big enough to land the one and two hour conversations like Joe Rogan. Joe is very good at what he does because he’s extremely comfortable with his guests and he lets them talk. Although today… while listening to the Black Keys, the band wasn’t quite finished yet and interrupted Joe. The host peacefully sat back and let them get to an incredible payoff. So what’s the moral of the story? Keep one eye on your performance while keeping the other on those receiving it. Howard Stern knows how to conduct a conversation because he hears it in his heart to move on or it’s going to get old. Through my experiences, seven minutes into any conversation and somebody’s repeating stories. Lock your guest in and keep them on track to your needs. A great friend who interviews every top dog in Hollywood once said to me, “I don’t care how big the person sitting next to me is. If they aren’t delivering. I get up and leave.”

Let The Words Move Through You

Listen to "Let The Words Move Through You" on Spreaker. There's nothing I can say that will convince you to daily write. People's lives don't change until its almost too late. Then we sit around in huge circles wondering why it took so long to see the invisible path. I became a daily writer in July of 1994 because I no longer trusted anybody. As much as I loved God I no longer believed anything those chosen to share the story put out there. I felt like they were stealing more than giving. I had all of these thoughts in my fat head and although I was on the radio it didn't serve as a stage. It was a nightmare. I was fake. Julia Cameron from the Artist Way caught my attention, Santa Barbara California. All of those thoughts in each of our heads and heart are actually a voice. Your outside self chooses what it wants to broadcast. Then one day after peeing you catch a glimpse of your eyes in the bathroom mirror and the inner self calls you a liar. Grab a writing instrument and put your junk into that trunk. A sheet of paper. It's fricken harder than anything you'll ever do. Your fears of someone reading your message to the physical presence of what you've labeled a failure is right there in front of you. Let the words move through you. They don't belong to you. You're missing the boat. You are here to change others. It can't happen if you're holding onto the words. I get it! Life is meant to be enjoyed. Imagine how much more fun you'll have when you let the words move through you.

Anne Leigh Parrish

Listen to "Anne Leigh Parrish Releases Maggie's Ruse" on Spreaker. Maggie and Marta Dugan, twenty-seven-year-old identical twins, live the good life in New York City on their stepfather's money. Each has a glamorous calling. Maggie paints; Marta appears onstage. Success, though, eludes them. Marta's roles are few and far between. Maggie's endorsements are infrequent at best. When gallery after gallery passes on her work, she begins to doubt her talent. Home alone one afternoon, fueled by frustration, she is seized by a sudden, wild impulse to masquerade as Marta when a friend of hers drops by. The ruse is quickly discovered when Marta returns from another shopping spree, a rift between the sisters ensues, and they go their separate ways. But living apart proves harder than either thought at first. Each carries the other firmly within her, making any true independence nearly impossible. As the weeks pass, the weight of absence sometimes becomes difficult to bear. Both find a surprising degree of success in their respective efforts, due perhaps to their newfound freedom, yet the bond between them remains firm. Can they come back together, and under what circumstances would a reunion be viable? Has the time come for an open discussion of their issues with each other? Unable to fully answer these questions, each knows only that she needs the other to feel whole.

Rick Wakeman

Listen to "Rick Wakeman The Grumpy Old Rock Star Tour" on Spreaker. Keyboard wizard Rick Wakeman embarks on his first solo tour of America in 13 years. Wakeman’s The Grumpy Old Rock Star Tour will combine spellbinding piano music with sidesplitting jokes and revealing insights into his 50-plus-year career. Expect an evening of superb musicianship, featuring music from YES, Rick’s own solo epics and early Bowie hits, plus fantastic arrangements of Beatles’ tunes, and much, much more, interspersed with knockabout (and sometimes bawdy!) typically British humor. Tickets for the newly added dates will be going on sale starting this week. The 25 city tour will kick-off Saturday, September 21st in Annapolis, MD at the Maryland Hall For The Creative Arts and continue through November. Check Rick Wakeman’s web site www.RWCC.com or the theatre’s sites for specific on-sale information. Professional musician, keyboard player, songwriter, broadcaster and raconteur, Wakeman’s career started as a much-in-demand session player, who performed on recordings by David Bowie, Elton John, Lou Reed, Al Stewart and hundreds more artists. His big break came in 1971 when he joined YES, who went on to become the most successful prog rock band in the world, but Wakeman has also always gone his own way outside the framework of that group. In the Seventies, he achieved chart-topping success with solo albums such as Journey To The Centre Of The Earth, The Six Wives of Henry VIII and The Myths and Legends of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table, which cumulatively sold over 10,000,000 copies in North America alone. He has written several film scores, amongst them two for director Ken Russell (Lisztomaniaand Crimes of Passion) and two ‘Harry Palmer’ movies starring Michael Caine (Bullet To Beijing and Midnight in St Petersburg), and in the UK, has built up an impressive reputation as a witty guest and host on shows like Grumpy Old Men, Countdown, Watchdog and the comedy cabaret show Live at Jongleurs. His wickedly irreverent acceptance speech when YES was inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2017 nearly brought the house down! That same year, he made British chart history when his Piano Portraits record became the first solo piano instrumental album to enter the UK’s Top 10 on release – a feat he then repeated with last year’s Piano Odyssey. Both records feature tunes that have a special connection with Rick’s personal musical journey and his subsequent tours, in which he performs a selection of tracks accompanied by hilarious memories and anecdotes have been instant sell-outs in the UK.

Hi-EndPottery.com Episode Three The Clay

Listen to "H.I. From Hi-End Pottery.com Episode Three The Clay" on Spreaker. H.I. has been playing with the elements made by the earth nearly all his life. Not everybody's moved by a middle school art teacher. They come with color wheel rules and straight edges and compasses that feature a lot of numbers but for what? H.I. got into clay. Not because he's a potter. H.I. sculpts his art into place. On this episode we dig into the idea of how and where we turn to make sure the right clay and texture is purchased. Carolina is tortured by Georgia clay. Bright orange and no desire to let plants grow through it. It lays there soaking up every ray of light from the sky while staining the bottoms of every pair of shoes like Cheetos. The right clay inspires the sculptor. Once that imaginations been cranked up and pushed forward the race is on.

Duncan’s writing style creates a pleasant, comfortable mood to draw the reader in and the female characters are quite endearing.” —The Nerd Daily · “A juicy, occasionally literary rendering of a complicated young adulthood.”—Kirkus Reviews · “There is so much to love and admire about TWINE—in fact, everything. Monica Duncan’s characters are authentic and lovable, their relationships absorbing, their causes just. Stevie D And Corey Grover

Listen to "Stevie D And Corey Glover Release Torn From The Pages" on Spreaker. Stephen DeAcutis, aka “Stevie D”, has been working professionally as a guitar player, mixer, producer, multi-instrumentalist, engineer, writer, and performer since the early 80’s. During that time, he honed his skills and training under such studio heavyweights as Andy Wallace (Rage Against the Machine, Nirvana), Kevin Shirley (Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith), and Max Norman (Ozzy Osbourne), amassing credits that include such acts as Vanilla Fudge, Vinny Moore, Pat Travers, Carmine and Vinny Appice, Punky Meadows, and Cyndi Lauper to name a few. As the wearer of many hats Stevie D, as well as being a world class mixer/producer, is equally proficient as a guitar player and song writer and when he is not working on other artists’ music he is conjuring up his own creations. Most recently he recorded and performed with Carmine and Vinny Appice and contributed to Carmine’s “Guitar Zeus”, alongside Bumblefoot on guitar. He also finished up his latest release “Torn From The Pages”, featuring Corey Glover (from Living Colour) on lead vocals. DeAcutis states “This record has been a long time in the making, I am very proud of the outcome and I feel this is some of my best work to date. Corey gave me the goods in his vocal performances and it is a blessing that he has given me his heart, soul and amazing vocal abilities to represent my music. I am truly blessed”.

Your Daily Job

Listen to "Your Daily Job" on Spreaker. Got to spend some time with Tilman Fertitta yesterday. The owner of the Houston Rockets, Golden Nugget Casinos and 600 other properties. Great conversation. The type two hard working deeply dedicated and loyal guys have when the mission we're called to is putting people first. Showing up everyday. No matter how bad the mood or the weather. It's being there because on the opposite end of the expectation is a client that needs your product. The funny thing about that conversation was how we were so open to talk about how those on the outside only see the victory and not the journey. Only to find myself face first in my daily writing on September 29, 2016. Today I was the reader. Three years ago I was the writer. He was questioning this podcast mess. A day of doubt that was swiftly evolving into shiploads of reasons why it had to stop. You see in 2016 podcasting wasn't the hot button it's become today. Those that were doing it had great episodes and we had seriously out of control energy dips that screamed at the creative process to stop. Today I'm over one million strong and growing. Grateful. Learning how to make it through the storm is what today's episode is about. It's our daily job to reach people. The moment you stop a life will go untouched.

Gerry Beckley From America

Listen to "Gerry Beckley From America Releases Five Mile Road" on Spreaker. “I knew that this batch of songs, even the choice of the album’s title, was going to be about my journey,” says Gerry Beckley, who finds himself embracing his past – personally, professionally and creatively – nearly as much as he looks to the future. But for the singer/songwriter/performer best known for his 49-year career as co-founder of the legendary band America – and whose acclaimed collaborations have also ranged from Carl Wilson and Dan Fogelberg to David Cassidy and John Waters – the journey still shimmers with a melodic melancholy that makes his music as familiar as it is iconic. And as America prepares to celebrate its half-century anniversary, Beckley brings his own journey home on his new Blue Élan Records release, "Five Mile Road." “In your 20s, you make the mistake of viewing maturity as something that just clicks on like a light switch,” says Beckley of this first project since his 2016 Blue Élan debut, "Carousel." “But had any of us given it more thought, we’d have realized that we’re going to be far more evolved at 30, 40 and even beyond 50 years old. The title track lyric of ‘five miles out / five miles back’ reflects on how we go through the decades, yet it can still seem like just a blip on the map. There’s an undeniable reality to that in all of our lives, and so much of that is woven throughout this album.” "Five Mile Road" is produced by Gerry Beckley and Jeff Larson, with all songs written by Beckley except “Life Lessons,” which was written by Gerry and actor/musician Bill Mumy. And while the album also features instrumental assistance from longtime friends that include Mumy, Jason Scheff of Chicago and Rusty Young of Poco, the majority of the backing vocals, acoustic and electric guitars, bass, piano and additional keyboards are all Beckley (“When I make a solo album,” he says, “there’s a whole lot of ‘solo’ in there”). The results may sound reminiscent of America, but Beckley instead crafts rich echoes of his past without directly referencing it. “I’ve produced or co-produced several of my own projects as well as many of America’s albums, so it would have been a bit strange if what we ended up with was not an up-to-date reflection of my history,” he explains. “I’ve always approached both writing and production with the belief that they can contain multiple layers of stuff, with lyrics that can be heard and absorbed over time. I want the songs on this album to slowly grow on the listener.” Beckley’s layered approach is instantly both recognizable and unique. The album’s opener “Life Lessons” belies its driving guitars and soaring harmonies with reflections on youth, loss and regret by a narrator ‘still searching for the song.’ “Home Again” glistens with piano, yearning, and the hard-won wisdom of knowing ‘life is not what it seems,’ with a jubilant chorus that is classic Beckley. In “Calling,” a beautifully delicate melody and vocal disguise an achingly plaintive lament for lost love. “Let’s face it,” Gerry says with a laugh, “I wrote and sang a #1 hit that began, ‘Well I tried to make it Sunday, but I got so damn depressed.’ ‘Sister Golden Hair’ was an upbeat song, but there’s clearly a melancholy woven through. I don’t like to oversimplify it, but I feel that’s kind of ‘my thing’. Or I can just say that’s who I am.” Elsewhere on the album, Beckley reflects on the resonance of love (“Something To Remember” and “So Long Marni”), the seduction of drifting (“Vagabond”) and the persistence of L.A. memories (“Heart Of The Valley”). “Hang Your Head High” is a rocking anthem for the disenfranchised, “Stop Feeling Sorry” is sweet balm for the uncertain, and “Sudden Soldier” is a potent ode to the innocence and vulnerability of young military personnel Beckley sees weekly in his airport travels. The title track “Five Mile Road” is an enduring metaphor for the journey, a poignant contemplation on the peaks and pitfalls of the lullaby of life. The album’s closer, “Two People At Once,” bookends as both a consideration of life’s dichotomies and a search for its larger meanings. It’s a tender coda, the sound of an artist living in the moment while simultaneously reckoning with his own legacy. “Sometimes I find myself looking back more than I look forward,” Beckley admits, “but I’m 66 years old and at a beautiful place in my life with my wife, kids and career. The challenge is how to convey your head and heart, to make music that isn’t preachy or clichéd reminiscence. I firmly believe that if you’re doing it well and blessed to still be able to go to the creative places, then it doesn’t stop.” Certainly that credence extends to America’s extraordinary half-century milestone, which Beckley and co-founder Dewey Bunnell plan to celebrate with a 50th Anniversary Tour in 2019. “I would never want to give the impression that Dewey and I are anything less than astounded by it all,” Gerry says. “But I always pair that with the confession that we feel responsible for what we’ve built. Somewhere in our shared journey has been our saving; by staying commercially and creatively somewhat along the center, we never flamed out, broke up or hit bottom. Our songs marked a time and place in many people’s DNA, and we still work hard to put on a great show. It’s mind-blowing, really.” For Gerry Beckley, "Five Mile Road" marks a welcome new step in his journey, along with a collective connection to the past for us all. “For those of us who grew up in the era of vinyl, the album listening experience has almost disappeared,” Beckley says. “Fortunately, Blue Élan has allowed me to make an album like the old days, like I want to do. I know how the tempo of all of our lives has adjusted over the past decade, so I’m honored anytime anybody spends the time to listen and I’m grateful to a record label that allows people like me to keep these creative areas alive. I hope I’ve delivered my half of the bargain.”

The Lyrics From Billy's Forest Chapter 171

Listen to "The Lyrics From Billys Forest Chapter 171" on Spreaker. A wealthy businessman once said to me "You cannot be successful without conflict." This taught me to walk into every meeting expecting to make disconnections. The true winners are those that make their way back to a solid foundation of building tomorrow before it gets here. Behind closed doors we all admit to having good and bad days, struggles and far too many loses then victories. In front of the world the cast image is that of bright smiles, solid handshakes and a conversation that truly has nothing to do with reality. I'm a people watcher. I study body language. The best form of entertainment is sitting back at the airport, Starbucks or some place very public and watch how people fake their way through the conversation. Or! Sitting at a red light. Look around you at those using a Blue Tooth to talk on the phone. Body language is everything and it almost never matches the words slipping from your lips. There are many conversations I'd love to go back to patch up. I live my life by being present in the "Now" that's not fair to the purpose of growth. Rebuild your bad conversations this moment forward. Retie the broken strings with someone you've lost or need to reconnect with. This moment forward. The weight of an hour ago still has somewhat of a voice but what was said three years or twenty ago really means nothing. Living life in forward motion is a choice. There's always an open door. If you see it closed then you decided it to be.

Jamie Brown From Roxanne

Listen to "Jamie Brown From Roxanne Releases Radio Silence" on Spreaker. “Radio Silence” is the sophomore release from the LA based rock band Roxanne and is AVAILABLE NOW via Rat Pak Records. Originally formed in the late 80’s, Roxanne garnered commercial success with their 1988 self-titled debut album which was well received with two songs charting on rock radio; “Cherry Bay” and “Sweet Maria”, as well as a cover of Wild Cherry’s “Play That Funky Music” which hit #63 on the Billboard singles charts and was in full rotation on both dance and rock stations simultaneously. As with many bands from that era, facing the decline in interest for AOR rock due to the onslaught of the “grunge” scene, the guys in Roxanne went on hiatus. Now 30 years later the band returns with a new offering entitled “Radio Silence”, which features 11 tracks of pure adrenalized classic rock influenced music and also features special guest appearances by guitar legend George Lynch, King’s X front-man dUg Pinnick and Korn drummer Ray Luzier. Regarding the recording process, lead singer Jamie Brown comments, “We wanted to make a rock record that you’d want to crank in your car and drive fast with the windows down and I think we accomplished that!”. Drummer Dave Landry adds, “We are all very proud of this album and are ecstatic the way it turned out...the songs, the tones and the performances. Recorded on 2-inch analog, it sounds real, it is real, and truly represents the way our band sounds!” With influences that range from Queen to Bad Company to Thin Lizzy, “Radio Silence” is best described as a perfect blend of classic rock with a modern-day edge! “Radio Silence” was produced by Rich Mouser and Jamie Brown and recorded, mixed and mastered at The Mousehouse Studio, Los Angeles, CA

Each species is showcased in Sartore’s signature portrait style, inviting us to notice the smallest details on the Burmese roofed turtle, or the barbary lion, which was hunted to regional extinction in the 1960’s.

This Isn't Payer Versus A Dream

Listen to "This Isn't Prayer Versus A Dream" on Spreaker. I've always been a dreamer. From sitting in Optimist Park in Billings, Montana to walking the well chartered trails of Carolina. In all things I do it began with dreaming. With those dreams have come a lot of prayer. Putting the two side by side yesterday I began to compare the types of energy required to make them work as a team or as solo performers. Without activation neither will survive beyond a simple thought. How often though have we tried to fuel the dream with prayer and when it doesn't come with a return on your investment both are dropped from your life? This isn't a guilt trip! It's being aware of where we presently stand and see things. Being mindful of the present puts you in the center of the elements making up your moment. What some may not know is that your presence is also part of someone else's moment of now. How you act and react has a serious impact on how things move forward. Which basically means dreams and prayer are powerful tools not guarantees. Which makes me wonder how many other tools are part of the daily elements and we've allowed ourselves to be blinded by what doesn't fit into the physical act of being accepted. Awareness of who and what's in your elements. Tell yourself, "I am in theirs as well. How shall I participate?" Dreams and prayers are met and answered everyday. When victories aren't showing up at your front door... what's the next step and or choice to kick start your heart? Awareness.

Kate Black

Listen to "Kate Black Releases Represent" on Spreaker. As a result of the 2018 midterms, a record number of women are serving in Congress—and there are no signs of this pink wave abating. But how do you start on this journey? How can you take the issues you’re passionate about and turn them into a compelling platform? And once you do, how can you overcome the myriad of obstacles you might encounter? Actress June Diane Raphael, star of Grace and Frankie(Netflix) and co-host of the popular "How Did This Get Made" podcast had these same questions when she herself thought of running for office after the 2016 election. But try as she might, she couldn’t find an accessible resource that would walk her through the process. So she decided to create one! She looked for a well-informed partner to help her, and found it in Kate Black, former chief of staff at EMILY’s List who has spent over a decade working in politics and for campaigns. The result of this collaboration is REPRESENT: The Woman’s Guide to Running for Office & Changing the World(Workman Publishing; September 2019),an easy-to-follow guide for any woman interested in elected office, whether it’s school board, local city council, or Congress. Scott Gorman

Listen to "Thin Lizzy's Scott Gorman Releases New Album With Black Star Riders" on Spreaker. Black Star Riders are back – with a new album, a new line-up, and what frontman Ricky Warwick calls “a new energy and chemistry”. In the seven years since Warwick and legendary guitarist Scott Gorham put Black Star Riders together, they have made three of the finest hard rock albums of modern times. In 2013 came the debut All Hell Breaks Loose, praised by AllMusic for its “aggressive attack, melodic sensibility, and deep groove consciousness”. In 2015 came The Killer Instinct, of which Classic Rock stated: “All ten tracks here would sound glorious blasting from a jukebox in the best spit ’n’ sawdust bar in town.” And in 2017 there was Heavy Fire, a top 10 hit in the UK, acclaimed by MOJO for its “glorious, free-roaming twin-lead guitars”, “jubilant songs”, and the band’s ability to “distil hard rock to its elemental state”. As Warwick says, “We’ve set the bar higher with every album.” And as Gorham describes album number four, Another State Of Grace: “This is the best one we’ve done. There’s sophistication in the writing but some really raw intentions there too. It’s very cool.” The plan for this album was, in Warwick’s words, very simple. “We wanted to make a big, anthemic-sounding record – high-energy rock’n’roll with heavy riffs and great songs. We have that classic rock element and I’m never going to deny that, but I think the band is very relevant when it comes to attitude and energy and what we have to say.” As lyricist, Warwick has dug deep into the personal and the political in this album, combining both in the powerful protest song Why Do You Love Your Guns. “There seems to be so much pain in the world,” he says. “The people in power scare me. So this record has songs about the world around us, but also about people that come and go in your life.” And the power in the music has been enhanced, Gorham says, by having two new members of the band making their debuts on this album. These are accomplished musicians with serious credentials: guitarist Christian Martucci has worked with Stone Sour; drummer Chad Szeliga is formerly of Breaking Benjamin and Black Label Society. As Gorham puts it: “Anybody who comes into Black Star Riders has to be part of the creative process, or there’s no point in that guy being in the band. And with Christian and Chad coming in, there’s a really great vibe, and you can feel it on this record.” Scott Gorham and Ricky Warwick created Black Star Riders out of the modern version of Thin Lizzy, the band in which Gorham had served in its golden age during the 1970s on classic albums including Jailbreak, Bad Reputation, Live And Dangerous and Black Rose. For Warwick, it was and always will be a privilege to perform alongside Gorham in Thin Lizzy. Singing the songs of the band’s late, great frontman Phil Lynott is, Warwick says, “an honour and dream come true for me”. But as he states unequivocally: “Black Star Riders has its own identity. The Lizzy connection is there but we’ve kind of distanced ourselves from it now. After four albums, the band is established. The songs stand on their own. The band stands on its own.” There have been a few line-up changes along the way for Black Star Riders. In 2014, original bassist Marco Mendoza (ex-Whitesnake) was replaced by an old friend of his, Robbie Crane, formerly of Ratt and Vince Neal; in 2017, drummer Jimmy DeGrasso (Ex-Megadeth, Ex-Alice Cooper) was replaced by Chad Szeliga; and in early 2019, Christian Martucci was recruited following the departure of Damon Johnson (Thin Lizzy, ex-Alice Cooper), who had been a contributor to the songwriting in Black Star Riders. “Damon’s a bro,” Warwick says. “I completely understand that he wanted to concentrate on his solo career and I have nothing but respect for that. I love him and I was sorry to see him go, but I think the band is bigger than the sum of it’s parts. As soon as Christian came into the frame it worked out extremely well. Not only is he a formidable guitar player, he’s a fantastic human being and he fitted in with our whole sense of humour and the laidback approach we have. He just gets it. He comes from sort of a punk rock background like myself, so we have a lot in common. He’s a very easy guy to work with a great songwriter in his own right, so there was a chemistry there straight away.” Gorham agrees. “I’d never met Christian before we started rehearsals for this album,” he admits. “Christian was like the mystery man, so it was kind of a leap of faith on my part. Ricky and Robbie had held auditions for all these guitar players and I kept going, ‘No, no, no…’ But when I heard what Christian had done in Stone Sour, I said, ‘I’m gonna green light this guy, he’s got something.’ And the first time we all got in a room together, I was really happy with what was going down – it was like Christian and I had been playing together a long time. He’s very creative, and from that first day I knew we were on to something really good.” Martucci played a key role in the writing for Another State Of Grace. As Warwick explains: “I write all the lyrics and melodies and some of the riffs too, but Scott, Christian and Robbie Crane contributed enormously on this record. Scott brought in these killer riffs for Underneath The Afterglow and Tonight The Moonlight Let Me Down. I was like, shit, they’re fucking great – but you know, that’s Scott Gorham! And Christian was a revelation to work with. I went to his house for five days and he was so great to bounce ideas off.” Underneath The Afterglow – a gritty hard rock number, archetypal Black Star Riders – was the last song written for the album. Gorham composed the music with his nephew Jesse Siebenberg, the son of former Supertramp drummer Bob Siebenberg, while Warwick supplied lyrics and vocal arrangement. Another late addition was What Will It Take, on which Warwick shares lead vocals with Pearl Aday, the daughter of rock legend Meat Loaf. Pearl had previously co-starred on the song Testify Or Say Goodbye from Heavy Fire. “She’s a good friend,” Warwick says, “and we wanted her back. What Will It Take is a little bit of a different sound for us, quite Americana, almost Tom Petty-ish, and her voice really lent itself to it.” As Warwick sees it, What Will It Take is evidence of the breadth in Another State Of Grace. “Essentially, it’s a bombastic rock record,” he says. “And there’s still a lot of dual lead guitar, which is Scott Gorham’s thing. That’s what he’s known for and we don’t want to lose that. But we’re not afraid to experiment with songs like What Will It Take.” The depth in this album is most powerfully illustrated in Why Do You Love Your Guns. “We’ve always had slower songs,” Warwick says, “like Blindsided on The Killer Instinct. But for me, Why Do You Love Your Guns is a very personal and poignant song.” It was written in the aftermath of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in Newtown, Connecticut on December 14, 2012, in which 26 people, including 20 children between six and seven years old, were killed. “When that happened,” Warwick recalls, “I was in Belfast, near where I was born. My wife called from our home in LA. She was in tears, telling me about the news. All of those kids were the same age as my daughter was then. It scared me to death. That could have been my child. So that night I couldn’t sleep, I got up and wrote down the first thoughts that came into my head, and when I looked back at those words all these years later – man, nothing has changed. There are so many school shootings in the United States of America, and nothing is being done about it. That’s appalling. So I needed to write this song. It’s something I feel very strongly about. These are innocent little kids, the victims of this. For sure, it’s a heavy song.” With so much strong material written, the band also opted for a new producer for this album. Previously they had worked with two acclaimed producers in Kevin Shirley (Iron Maiden, Joe Bonamassa) and Nick Raskulinecz (Alice In Chains, Deftones, Rush). But for Another State Of Grace, recorded in Los Angeles, they picked Jay Ruston, who had mixed The Killer Instinct and Heavy Fire. And as Gorham says: “It was the be

Rachel Lindsay And Travis Mills

Listen to "Rachel Lindsay and Travis Mills From Ghosted On MTV" on Spreaker. In the eight-episode docuseries, Lindsay and Mills help distraught individuals track down and confront a former lover, friend, or family member in an effort to uncover the harsh realities of why they “ghosted” them. The term “Ghosting,” the act of ending a relationship by abruptly cutting off communication without explanation, was born out of the current ever-changing digital landscape. Rachel Lindsay is an attorney and an American television personality who is best known for her role as a contestant on the twenty-first season of ABC’s “The Bachelor” and the bachelorette on the thirteenth season of “The Bachelorette.” She is the first African-American bachelorette in the franchise’s history and is a frequent correspondent on Good Morning America, Strahan and Sara and previously hosted ESPN’s “Football Frenzy.” Travis Mills is a recording artist, actor, and on-air personality who hosts the Apple Beats 1 Radio Network show and podcast, “ADHD with Travis Mills.” Under the moniker T. Mills, Mills released an album titled, “All I Wanna Do” and a single, “Young & Stupid.” Mills has appeared in NBC's “Good Girls,” Netflix’s “Flaked,” and Freeform's series, “Alone Together.”

Pod-Crashing Episode 27 The Interview

Listen to "Pod-Crashing Episode 27 The Interview" on Spreaker. Pod-Crashing: Episode 27 The Interview Maybe it’s because I come from a forty year terrestrial radio background or it’s the sound of my father’s voice, “Don’t be a know it all.” Getting guests for your podcast is a wise step in building your community of listeners. But it has to be the right show and episode. I would never bring in a third party on The Choice because the conversation shared is hardcore one on one character building, repairing and forgiving. The soul of the show is transparency. Having others drop in thoughts removes the relationship from a personal meeting into a radio performance. I like having guests on Unplugged and Totally Uncut and View from the Writing Instrument because both podcasts serve as a great stage for singer/songwriters, musicians, actors, famous chefs, authors and artists. Share your story or someone will write it for you. But how do you get them? Great question! I have a better one. Once you get started how are you going to keep up with the mind blowing time eating pace doing interviews demands? A ton of energy is required. The majority of it will never be heard. It’s all behind the scenes! PR people need answers. They book quickly. Sitting around waiting to figure out if you want the conversation it’s too late. Something else that leaves a bad taste in a PR person’s mouth? Calling yourself an interviewer then shoving the identity aside in a month. They have bosses that need answers. Gotta show em numbers. Who’s doing it? Where are they from? How many listeners will be reached? I’m blessed with the opportunity to talk with many in the lime light as well as those who’d like to get back in. Knowing this still doesn’t guarantee me an interview. There’s a comedy club in town that keeps saying, “Blank blank blank isn’t available. They don’t do podcasts.” I instantly howl with laughter. That’s a promoter that’s never listened to a podcast! I get why “they” think it’s not a good move. They need to sell tickets now. In this town! Not Butte, Montana. Comedians dominate the digital stage. They love the idea of breaking bread with someone that’s not demanding anything more than a brilliant conversation. Let this be a lesson though. When PR folks say no… it’s ok to feel like crap but don’t show your ass. Back to the original question. How do you get the interview? You ask! During those cold dreary early days in 2012 I’d write a story, produce it then send it to the musician or actor through Facebook. The note always read, “It would’ve sounded better if we could’ve heard your voice instead of mine. Share your story or someone will write it for you.” I never said no to a conversation. Johnny the barking monkey with a fist full of pennies is coming to town… wanna talk to his owner? True story! Elton John’s in town. I get a phone call, “You wanna talk with his road manager?” Damn straight I do! He’s probably got bigger stories. That’s how I learned how everybody before the concert meets in a room to watch soccer. Talk about team building. No matter what your niche there’s always someone out there wanting talk about it. You’ve gotta find the needle in the haystack. Reach out to the PR people. Knock on their door over and over again. 90% of the time you’ll finally get booked for an interview because another radio talent or podcaster is needed for a ten minute slot to make the tour complete. Just two minutes ago a PR company reached out to me about talking with a CBD expert. Instantly I’m thinking, “Oh heck yes! There’s a lot people don’t know. Content, content, content!” Then comes the next email. We need a media press kit. How much input do we have in the conversation? Do you have any case studies? Have you worked with any other CBD brands? Heavy duty hardcore questions that put them in total control. I get it. No problem. Oh wait. There’s one issue. Let’s break this down. First. We need to step away from the studio. Count to ten. Breathe in breathe out. Here’s what I got out of that. I love the idea of them reaching out to me to help share valuable information about their product. I’m over a million strong with the platform so good move. Here’s where I reach up and delete the email. I was ok with the media kit. I’ve got analytic numbers for their case studies. I’ve never talked with a CBD company. So what’s the problem? They want control of the final content. That’s not a conversation. That’s an info-mericial. Not for free. No. This is what you’re gonna have to wade through while building your interview library. A ton of people are waiting to talk. It’s not as difficult as you think. I landed R&B legend Jermaine Dupris just over an hour ago. Then I picked up 60 Minutes Producer Kyra Darnton. Only to be hit with the CBD firm. This is comedy man. You can’t find this kind of entertainment anywhere but behind the scenes of a podcast. So what’s the moral of the story? Know what you really want and stick to it. If you want guests then make it happen. Be faithful to the PR people and do all you can to help them social network what’s being promoted. Wait wait. Hold on a second. Something just hit me. Let’s clarify one thing. What is a guest? Does it have to be a person of fame? An expert in a specialized field? Can it be Shelia who lives down the street and everybody thinks she’s got a great radio voice? Ultimately it’s up to you. I book guests based on how I can super serve those tuning in. Content is the only rule I play by. If it’s too inside and the listener no longer feels like their part of the conversation. You’ve got get Shelia out of the control room. Know your beginning middle and end. Have answers for the PR people. Protect your podcast. If it looks and sounds like someone’s gonna use up your digital space to cash in. Make the decision and be good with it. Have fun with your guests. More importantly create authentic conversation.

A Day Of Doubt

Listen to "A Day Of Doubt" on Spreaker. We all have triggers. Those little moments when a great day suddenly spins around. Sometimes we know of what triggers us. Other moments are overtaken by extremely powerful invisible warriors from a Marvel comic book. Triggers. In those moments we don't feel fear, shame or guilt. It's doubt. A giant feeling of something that almost never comes with answers and the reason why is because we haven't figured out what the questions are. Doubt. An entire day of it. It poisons your decisions and dreams. It floods your system of thinking and performing. You can't call in sick because your boss is having their own day of doubt and someone needs to be cut off the list. Doubt. You can't swallow it and push ahead because every step feels like a new trigger. My weakness is a clock. Hate them. Three hours early is six hours too late. That creates doubt. I arrive in this studio at 5:30 everyday because it buys me time. It allows everybody else's expectations to be met on time and or before. If doubt seeps into the picture it infects every other mood waiting to be placed on the public billboard. There are no meds for a day of doubt. You have to somehow create a relationship with its presence and do all you can to listen. I write. I meditate. I sit alone in a room with no song, no television, no picture hanging on the wall. I patiently and lovingly allow the doubt to move through me. All things pass even while you are weighed down by doubt. If your choice is to fight it. It will always win because it's best friends with hate, emptiness, anger and lack of faith. Write, meditate or stare at an empty wall. It will bring peace to your day of doubt.

Gilly Macmillan

Listen to "Gilly MacMillan Releases The Nanny" on Spreaker. When her beloved nanny, Hannah, left without a trace in the summer of 1987, seven-year-old Jocelyn Holt was devastated. Haunted by the loss, Jo grew up bitter and distant from her family, and eventually left her parents and Lake Hall, their faded aristocratic home, behind. Thirty years later, Jo must return with her daughter to the family estate and her long-estranged mother, Lady Virginia Holt, after her American husband tragically dies. Dreading the stuffiness and status-obsessed world she gladly left more than a decade before, she’s despondent. But shortly after her return, human remains are accidently uncovered in a lake on the estate, and everyone in town assumes the Holts must be guilty because they lived fast and partied hard with the highest levels of British society. Jo doesn’t want to raise her daughter under such scrutiny and is desperate to get out of her mother’s home. Then an unexpected visitor—a woman claiming to be Hannah—knocks on the door and Jo’s world is turned upside-down. Hannah, the woman Jo always felt truly raised her, seems heaven-sent as Jo desperately needs support and a direction forward. But as they spend time together, Jo begins to piece together the gaping holes in her memory and everything she thought she knew about herself and her childhood comes into question. Jo must uncover who her nanny really was, why she left, and if she can trust her other mother. Because when your mother is absent, and your nanny leaves you… you can’t help but wonder who loves you more. In this compulsively readable tale of secrets, lies, and deception, Gilly Macmillan explores the darkest impulses and desires of the human heart. Gilly Macmillan is a talent worth reading and THE NANNY reminds us that sometimes the truth hurts so much, you’d rather hear the lie.

Go Be A Rock

Listen to "Go Be A Rock" on Spreaker. I've always been an ideas guy. All the way back to my childhood. I'd spend endless hours in my bedroom coming up with ideas on how to improve something or completely pull it out from nowhere and begin to play. I failed a lot. So much so that I can still hear my classmates, "Stop trying to reinvent the wheel." It's just who I am. An Ideas guy. The very second I got into radio it was a totally out of control completely wild field of trying to make my own mark. I loved hosting countdowns and everything else that featured the stories of Rock stars. One program director told me that I was too much into my own ideas. He needed someone that played his game without any chances being made. I get that. I used it as fuel to continue feeding the fire. To build new ideas on stages that were quickly evolving without decision makers thinking they've already got that market covered. Hitting my first one million listens on the podcast. Holy crap! With no on air promoting. All out grassroots! An ideas guy. Stemming from a sentence handed to me I'm sure a million times. I just happen to document it on that particular day in September of 2016. I need you to be a rock. Buried in the dirt. Go teach people how to reach outward. Yeah just like that. It requires ideas to move a mountain.

Andrew Gross

Listen to "Andrew Gross Releases The Fifth Column" on Spreaker. New York City, 1941: Charles Mossman has lost his job, his wife, and his future prospects after a short stint in prison for a bar fight gone awry. The only bright spots in his life are the afternoons he spends with his daughter after school, picking her up from the nanny who watches her and delivering her home before his wife gets home from her factory job in the evenings. But one day he meets the elderly Swiss couple living next door to his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Bauer, and something seems...not right about them. Maybe it's the German they’re teaching his daughter, maybe it’s all of the strangers he sees going in and out of their apartment. Though they claim to be as distraught over Hitler’s actions in Europe as other Americans, Mossman isn’t sure he believes them, and soon, he’s convinced that there’s more to these people than meets the eye. And he’s determined to find out what’s really going on. What he finds could not only endanger his daughter but also all of New York City. As the shadow of war creeps closer to the States, one man has the ability to bring down a nest of Nazi spies doing Hitler’s work in America. Based on the true story of the Duquense Spy Ring, Gross once again delivers a tense, stirring thriller set against the backdrop of a nation about to go to war.
