Richie Faulkner From Judas Priest

Listen to "Richie Faulkner from Judas Priest A Passion To Perform" on Spreaker. Richie Faulkner says that fans can expect to hear "a few surprises" in JUDAS PRIEST's setlist when he and his bandmates return to the United States this spring for a run with fellow classic heavy rockers URIAH HEEP. The 32-date trek will kick off on May 3 at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida and wrap on June 29 at The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. "We were there with [DEEP] PURPLE in the fall of last year, at the end of summer last year, so it will be great to come back and do our headline shows," Faulkner told Atlanta's rock station Rock 100.5 in a brand new interview (hear audio below). "And we're bringing URIAH HEEP with us. And we're looking forward to it. We're working up new songs for the setlist for this go-around. There'll be a few surprises in there — some songs that maybe people haven't heard for a long time, or ever from the band. So it's exciting just to see people's faces when you throw a new song in there or a blast from the past. So we're looking forward to coming back through. It's a slightly different stage production. We've got some new ideas for that as well. So it's gonna be an exciting tour. We can't wait to get back out there."

The Playback Tape

Listen to "The Playback Tape" on Spreaker. I spent some time with author and reporter Ian Frisch yesterday talking about his new book Magic Is Dead. A great conversation about the biggest names in magic. Openly I mentioned that it's such a dark place to travel. Those that have mastered the craft of magic are difficult to talk with because they live in the future and not the present. Meaning they've trained themselves to know where the magic trick is taking people that by the time the rest of us catch up to see the trick, the magician has already moved on. On this podcast we touch on that subject in way of how in the business and everyday worlds that we live we're under so much pressure to endlessly perform that we spend a lot of time in a future that isn't paying off the way our personal investment thought it should. I begin the conversation with my fears as a pre-teen. I grew up fearing what the preacher said, "One day you'll have to sit down with God and talk about your playback tape." As that kid, the only way I knew how to keep myself from totally becoming a loser was to be a huge part of the future and not put any focus on what's being lived now. Not a good choice. Mindfully we grow one day at a time. We've accepted other people's judgement as just another way of feeling like we belong. If they didn't take the time to tell us how much we suck they wouldn't care. That's not a good way to play or way to live. In magic the hand looks to be quicker than the eye. In real life the eye needs no tricks to fool the carrier of the mind and body being pushed forward. Find focus in the now. Trust that you're always in the right place. And if it feels like it's going wrong and hopelessness has flooded your stage, accept it don't horde it. Let all things move through you. Leave the playback tape somewhere you can't reach. You already know the steps taken. There's never a reason to have to explain. Take the pressure off your dreams and grow forward.

Clearing Not Opening

Listen to "Clearing Not Opening" on Spreaker. I was hit with a thought this morning while writing at 4:30. No matter what. How thick the challenge or glorious the victory, God can't change your past. I instantly picked up my smartphone and sent those words to my preacher friend Casey Crimmins. People who live in their past and live off those days of change or simpleness are trying to do something God can't do nor is he or she willing to put effort into the moment. Oh man, the dude is gonna go all thought Bible thumping! No! On this podcast we walk a path of learning how to stop hording your moments of championships won and days of darkness so deep that a passing thunderstorm takes one look at you and says, "Yeah much too strong for me." No matter how many times you walk into a Walmart, Home Depot or mall store you are coming out with something. I recently ventured into a closet I hadn't been in for months maybe years. It's not that my house is large. I have this habit of walking through the house the same way everyday. The closet isn't part of that daily journey. I opened the door. There in front of me was a lot of merchandise. Stuff I'd never worn or used. I bought it to buy it. The lessons of the everyday life. Aren't we doing the same thing. You learn new things at work without ever teaching it to someone who might replace you one day. I laugh at that stuff. I'm not laughing at anyone. I'm laughing with life. The hardest working most dedicated and loyal people at a place of business will be replaced only to spend the rest of their life trying to get the same job over and over again. Our closets are full. Not fulfilled but overfilled. It's time to clear out the mind, body and soul. Don't open it! That's an invitation for everything to come inside. Clear yourself. Teach someone your art. Allow them to live the experiences by way of being aware of where you've grown. Clear the path so that you can see your success.

Bloodest Saxaphone

Listen to "Eddie Stout Talks Bloodest Saxaphone" on Spreaker. Formed in Tokyo, the jump blues & swing band, BLOODEST SAXOPHONE has been playing old-school vintage sounds since 1998. Legendary Austin record man, Dialtone Records chief Eddie Stout, got together with his Japanese counterparts to dream up the concept of combining Bloodest’s retro sound with some big female voices from Texas. They brought Bloodest’s wild men to Austin to play Eastside Kings Festival until they nearly dropped from exhaustion, then got them into the studio, quick. Featured singers include the cream of the Texas R&B scene: Diunna Greenleaf, Lauren Cervantes, Angela Miller, Jai Malano and Crystal Thomas (okay, she’s from Shreveport, Louisiana.) Bloodest Saxophone’s members include Koda “Young Corn” Shintaro, Coh “Colonel Sanders”, Osikawa Yukimasa, Shuji “Apple Juice,” The Takeo “Little Toyko,” and Kiminori “Dog Boy.” Local Texas musicians Nick Connolly, Kaz Kazanoff and Johnny Moeller complete these powerhouse tracks.

The Lyrics From Billy's Forest Chapter 144

Listen to "The Lyrics From Billys Forest Chapter 144" on Spreaker. We see our image in the mirror but feel like we're invisible to those around us. How? Why? They say the squeaky wheel always gets its way. Are we being too noisy with what we believe? On this podcast we openly talk about what so many endure when they begin to feel confident enough to share what grows within the center of the mind body and soul. I've always been spiritual. Almost afraid to let people know that I had a huge crush on the word of God. I hid behind an act of being positive and always smiling. Nobody ever knew why. They just labeled me weird. My private studies kept me focused on that relationship but to activate it in public was an energy I was too shy carry. I feared how people would react. Sadly they did when it became more known of how and why I'm a full time student for Christ. Those that make such a claim lose a lot of friends and family. It gets really old when preachers say its not easy to be Christian. The challenges and changes strengthen your faith or toss it completely out the window. One of our biggest weaker points is knowing how alone you feel during times of birth and rebirth. Rebuilding your path is what this message is about. How to be seen in a very invisible world.

John Kim

Listen to "John Kim The Angry Therapist" on Spreaker. Author John Kim is known as "The Angry Therapist." In his new book: book I USED TO BE A MISERABLE F***: An Everyman’s Guide to a Meaningful Life (HarperOne) - John explores the questions of what it is to be a man in today's society. He creates an important dialogue and covers essential topics, from vulnerability and posturing to workouts and women. Kim's goal is to encourage men to “think about who you are now and who you want to be…I’m not here to lecture you. I’m coming with you, not at you. Talking to you like one of my friends—the men I sweat with, eat with, ride motorcycles with, get crepes and share...feelings with. Yes, real men eat crepes.” As Kim explains: boys typically find their models for manhood in their fathers. we are living in a fatherless nation: too many boys are left without adequate role models or coping skills to deal with life’s various issues. the result is that out of the 45,000 people who commit suicide each year, 79% of them are men. And men aren’t the only victims; women and children suffer all too often at the hands of men. The cycle continues onto the next generations as one out of five teenage girls reports that she has been in an abusive relationship. This doesn’t mean that all hope is lost. Kim draws on his own very personal experiences, not just as a therapist, but as a man, to help men unlock that trapped potential. As he explains, Kim went through a devastating divorce, and it was during some deep soul searching afterwards that he came to an astonishing realization: he was miserable and likely to blame for the problems in his life. Armed with this new insight, Kim began The Angry Therapist blog - an admission that, while he was a licensed therapist and life coach, he was no better than the people who sought his advice.

Giving And Taking

Listen to "Giving And Taking" on Spreaker. I'm not going to pretend that I know how the methods of moving money through a church is handled. I just know what I'm told, "Twelve percent of the offering is given to outreach programs." I've learned to trust that message. The other day I was reminded of that exchange while sharing a gift with an assumed homeless man standing on the corner. I looked at him straight in the eyes and said, "I'm giving you five so that you can share with four others." Giving and taking starts with becoming a giver after you've taken. On this podcast I put a lot of focus on business leaders and employees that feel pretty blessed about where they presently stand in their success. Love it! Now give it away. Teach the people or person that's going to replace you. What? It's completely one hundred percent natural. Your career is coming to an end. I'd rather be happy knowing my experiences live in their spirit then being replaced by someone I know nothing of. Replenishing the forest. Not only does it open your personal fields of success but it teaches you to trust the lessons you've picked up a long the way. If all you do is take where on the platform will you be fulfilled? Was the journey truly worth it?

Irin Carmon

Listen to "Irin Carmon Rereleases Notorious RBG" on Spreaker. RBG, a well-received documentary from CNN Films, Storyville Films, and Magnolia Pictures and directed by Julie Cohen and Betsy West, rolled out on May 4, 2018, to over 60 markets across the country and has been nominated for an Oscar. The film, which premiered in January 2018 at the Sundance Film Festival to rave reviews from Variety and The Hollywood Reporter and currently scores 100% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, prominently features Irin Carmon and Shana Knizhnik, authors of the New York Times bestselling book, Notorious RBG: The Life and Times of Ruth Bader Ginsburg, as well as the book itself. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg never asked for fame - she has only tried to make the world a little better and a little freer. But nearly a half-century into her career, something funny happened to the octogenarian: she won the internet. Across America, people who weren't even born when Ginsburg first made her name as a feminist pioneer are tattooing themselves with her face, setting her famously searing dissents to music, and making viral videos in tribute. But Notorious RBG, inspired by the Tumblr that amused the Justice herself, is more than just a love letter. It combines reported narrative, annotated dissents, rare archival photos and documents, and illustrations to tell the story of an unusual and transformative woman who transcends generational divides. Nearly 300,000 copies in print across all formats, Notorious RBG was created by award-winning journalist Irin Carmon and Shana Knizhnik, the lawyer who began the Internet sensation. Carmon extensively interviewed Ginsburg for MSNBC in the course of working on the book, which also draws on intimate interviews with Ginsburg's family members, close friends, colleagues, and clerks. Notorious RBG also draws on some of the finest legal minds- including several former Ginsburg clerks-to vividly explain Ginsburg's revolutionary work fighting gender discrimination. It is an emotionally stirring, visually rich, and intellectually engaging look at the Justice and how she has changed the world. From Ginsburg's refusal to let the slammed doors of sexism stop her to her innovative legal work, from her before-its-time feminist marriage to her perch on the nation's highest court - with the fierce dissents to match - get to know RBG as never before. Last November, HarperCollins Children's Books published a Young Reader's Edition of Notorious RBG, aimed at bringing Justice Ginsburg's story to the next generation. Executive Editor Julia Cheiffetz says, "When we commissioned the book in 2015 we hoped it might strike a chord. To see the Justice's legacy celebrated in this way is nothing short of awesome." Since the book's publication, the nickname "Notorious RBG" has become iconic, appearing as both Jeopardy and NYT crossword puzzle clues, and affectionately used by President Barack Obama. Just last month on "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert," Colbert himself said, "They call her the Notorious RBG. She is a feminist icon and a favorite among the young people.please just hang in there for 3-7 more years." As Donald Trump's presidency makes Ginsburg's continued presence on the Supreme Court uniquely urgent and consequential, "Notorious RBG" is more relevant than ever. Ginsburg herself is a testament to how far we can come with a little chutzpah.

The Sunday Morning interview aired sometime before CBS' Grammy Award telecast on February 10th. Her 36th full-length studio recording, the album will contain ten tracks with new songs as well as remakes of pop/soul gems. The recording also will be Dionne's first R&B/soul album in fifty years, since the release of her stellar 1969 Scepter LP, "Soulful", which she co-produced in Memphis with the late Chips Moman (who'd manned the boards for Dionne's then-label mate, B.J. Thomas). In addition, "She's Back" will also include duets with Kenny Latimore ("What Color Is Love") as well as Musiq Soulchild. The album will be released in partnership with Entertainment One (EoNE) Distribution and available for CD and download purchase as well as all streaming platforms.

Amalia Andrade

Listen to "Amalia Andrade Releases You Always Change The Love Of Your Life" on Spreaker. “As the great existential philosopher Cher once postulated, ‘do you believe in life after love?’ In my own personal experience, after my breakup, the answer was a resounding NO,” bestselling writer and illustrator Amalia Andrade writes in her beautiful, hand-lettered book YOU ALWAYS CHANGE THE LOVE OF YOUR LIFE (For Another Love of Another Life). Born out of a devastating breakup with her long-term girlfriend, the illustrated and interactive book combines a painful experience we can all relate to with advice we desperately need. Her book -- already a sensation in Latin America -- is a seamless blend of witty quips, pop culture references and heart-felt prose, and offers heartbreak advice you won’t find in a stodgy self-help guid. Hilarious and refreshingly honest, it highlights the stages of grief and the lessons that Andrade learned from them.

Bryan Ray

Listen to "Brian Ray Releases The Tears Of A Clown" on Spreaker. Brian Ray's arrangement of The Tears of a Clown has been a staple of his live shows for years. He says he's been fascinated with the song, its lyrics and its impact on me as a kid. I was a big fan of Smokey’s ever since I first heard him singing through the earpiece of my new transistor radio as a kid, singing’ Shop Around. Openly he admits that he feels privileged beyond words that Smokey offered to sing nearly 1/2 of the song with him on the new version of The Tears of a Clown. This recording is his way of celebrating Smokey and to thank him for making his song, One Heartbeat, a hit just as he was getting off drugs and alcohol at age 31.

Becoming Positive Requires A Seed

Listen to "Becoming Positive Requires A Seed" on Spreaker. Did your parents or school teachers ever look at you and say "I don't know what's gotten into you but I don't like it." My Dad would always grab me fast, "I don't know what's gotten into you but it makes me worry." I'm blessed with the incredible opportunity to share messages with future Broadcasters and along the way one or several will always question my energy, my passion and drive. This past Wednesday I was asked, "How do you stay up like you are. What's gotten into you that I cannot find?" On this podcast I go back to July of 2016 and read from the pages that actually had me asking the same question, "What's gotten into me?" Let me forewarn you. If religion and spirituality make you feel odd or ugly. Please don't listen. I go all out regular guy Jesus not to promote the higher power but to answer the question. Being positive requires a seed. But what does it look like before it's planted in the soil and how will it look once it sprouts leaves and hopefully fruit? I once had an Operations Manager tell me to quiet down my positive approach to creating great work ethics. That same company fired me in 2016 and straight from my heart came these words, "God is great." The seeds you presently need to plant in whatever soil you wish to use, what do they look like? What are they saying to the birth of your new day? I honestly don't know what's gotten into me. I guess I'll never change.

Adam Higginbotham

Listen to "Adam Higginbotham Releases Midnight In Chernobyl" on Spreaker. In 2006-the twentieth anniversary of the nuclear disaster at Chernobyl-Adam Higginbotham, then a reporter on assignment, traveled to Russia and Ukraine, searching for surviving witnesses to the accident. He discovered that the version of events widely accepted in the West was incomplete, often incorrect, and colored by misinformation and propaganda. The real story, he found, was more complex, human, and terrifying than the myth. Based on research conducted over the course of more than ten years, Higginbotham's MIDNIGHT IN CHERNOBYL: The Untold Story of the World's Greatest Nuclear Disaster (February 12, 2019/$29.95 hardcover) provides the first complete account of the catastrophe that encircled the world and helped precipitate the fall of the Soviet Union. Higginbotham draws upon recently declassified documents, letters, unpublished memoirs and material from the archives of the Chernobyl Museum in Kiev, as well as scores of original interviews with participants in the events of 1986. These include former Soviet ministers, state investigators, KGB officers, pilots, and soldiers, as well as the scientists, nuclear engineers, plant workers, and ordinary citizens whose lives were changed forever. Many of these have never before spoken to a Western journalist. The result is the definitive account that breaks through the propaganda, secrecy, and myth to reveal the truth about one of the twentieth century's greatest disasters. Higginbotham's exhaustive reporting allows the reader to experience the incident through the eyes of those who lived it, from the ambitious young station director who first envisioned the power station in a snow-covered field in rural Ukraine, to the control room engineers who unwittingly prompted its destruction; from the city officials and government ministers who oversaw the mass evacuation and cleanup, to the ordinary citizens who struggled through it all to keep their families safe. It is a story of heroics and incompetence, hubris and ingenuity, institutional weakness and human resilience. Higginbotham also positions Chernobyl as a key event in the destruction of the Soviet Union, and the U.S. victory in the Cold War. For Moscow, it was a political and financial catastrophe as much as an environmental and scientific one. With an estimated final cost of 18 billion rubles-at the time equivalent to $18 billion-Chernobyl further strained the teetering Soviet economy and revealed to its population a state built upon a pillar of lies. MIDNIGHT IN CHERNOBYL also carries echoes for our own time. With tensions rising among the world's nuclear powers, and a vigorous ongoing debate about the role of nuclear power in the world's energy future, Higginbotham's account serves as a parable for how we should think about our ability and our will to control the world through potentially dangerous technologies.

Prayer Belief Activation

Listen to "Prayer Belief Activation" on Spreaker. Whoa... With a title like that it feels like the preachers have been called in to host a classic Southern Revival. Not at all. No moment passes for any of us that we aren't relying on hope to push us beyond our present place in the "Now." Careers are caving in. The price of gas is beginning to rise again. Small household injuries are huge doctor bills because you how insurance works. On this podcast I dive into the subject of what I call Hidden Speak. A total Arroe-ism. During those mornings when you feel like there's too much junk in your trunk and you'd do anything to call in to work and make it a mental day. You don't.. You figure out how to readjust the crud taking you down but not out. Hidden Speak is learning how to look beyond depression, moodiness and just plain ole yucky and locating a seed of positive. No matter how bad you feel or how angry you are with the world you're able to speak peace. It's not a difficult task. It's a choice. Football legend Roman Gabriel shared with me back in the 1980's that the body uses more muscles frowning then it does to smile. I was blessed with the opportunity to share a message the other day. I pay close attention to those in attendance and find true reason to stop and listen. It's in their facial expression. Deborah asked, "Where do you find all of this energy? Why are you always so upbeat?" I've had others ask me if I've been hired to sell something. They keep waiting for me to introduce the product. My answer will never change. I begin everyday writing. Hidden Speak on those pages builds a place for me to take the right step while making the right choices. You can say whatever you want in your daily writing but do so with a positive touch. It isn't very easy but it will change everything you do after you've finished writing.

The Choice

Listen to "The Choice" on Spreaker. The one thing missing from people's lives are those truth filled moments of testifying. That's such a church thing to say right? I'm not talking about that portion of the world. Testifying to yourself. Knowing the depth of the journey and finding victory in what's been labeled a struggle or tumble. On this podcast I go back nearly three years to a moment in the daily writing where the author has kept true to taking note of how growth endlessly feels like a failure but only by way making the choice. If people knew the power they hold by making the right choice there wouldn't be the cramping found in so many lifestyles. Through choice I've been able to live mindfully in the present. What does that mean? My past is the past. The only thing I can do with it is rewrite it but I choose not to because someone will come along and very loudly shout, "Oh hec no that isn't the way it went down." Why waste the energy? Through the power of choice I also keep myself from over planning or putting too much juice in visions of the future. I blew that game in the 1980's and 90's when I sank my entire life into trying to become that radio disc jockey in California. Everything I did on the path was trying to shape that story which never came into being. Therefore I've had to make the choice to be forgiving of the creative mind that isn't going to get that time back. It's an uphill battle to live in the presence of "Now." Once you begin to feel it the realization of choice becomes every reason to see your image in victory rather than an ongoing gut feeling of defeat.

The Lyrics From Billy's Forest Chapter 143

Listen to "The Lyrics From Billys Forest Chapter 143" on Spreaker. Things that are invisible and yet we're told they're always there. It plays an evil game with the spirit of building trust and faith. Serving more as a reason to walk away than participate. On this podcast I get a little preachy with the way that we look at how we act and react to the messages shared on a daily or weekly basis. I'm always amazed at how many visionary bosses forecast the outcome of what should become but rarely accept the responsibility of when things don't play out as planned. It becomes a finger pointing adventure with newer reasons to unlock your faith to trust. Look, religion and spirituality are no different. It doesn't matter where you pick up your message, the preacher, pastor or teacher lays down what seems to be an easy process of steps to leading a better life blessed with proper decisions. Then nothing changes. He said. She said. All that once felt empowered and motivated has fallen back into an empty bucket of nothingness. You can't blame both situations on the leadership at hand. For any plan or performance to lean on succeeding activation has to be the top priority. Amazing amounts of time and work go into progress. When ideas and plans just sit there, the end result may look like a season of growth only to learn the vision was more powerful then the actuality of reality. Decision makers and preachers are seed planters, idea starters, courageous chance takers that realized along the way that in order to reach a moment of victory it's not going to get done if everything being done is by themselves. There's no worse feeling then when things aren't going as planned. For the employee and or spirit walker the promised changes don't seem to materialize as fast as they do on television shows. That families backyard was redesigned and planted with growth inside 30 minutes. If that were the case with everything, we'd grow tired of dreaming. We honestly expect way too much. When you're ready to win. Slip on a pair of activation slippers and get your feet muddy. We go to work and church to make a difference not in our lives but those who need what you're creating and serving. Success begins when you take you out of the mix. Reach for the community first.

Carmine Appice

Listen to "Carmine Appice Remasters Guitar Zeus" on Spreaker. Carmine Appice’s Guitar Zeus showcases the complete and prolific talents of many world-renown rock guitarists including Brian May, Slash, Neil Schon, Yngwie Malmsteen, Bruce Kulick, Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal, Paul Gilbert, Mick Mars, Richie Sambora, Zakk Wylde, Bob Daisley, Dweezil Zappa, Vivian Campbell, Leslie West, Warren DeMartini, Steve Morse, Ty Tabor (Kings X), Ted Nugent, Dug Pinnick, John Norum and others… “The Guitar Zeus project, for me, was an amazing experience that has never been done before by a drummer, especially with so much talent on one album! You get your money’s worth! Writing all the songs with my band (Tony & Kelly) and then picking out songs for each guitarist was a fun and time-consuming process, especially coordinating everybody’s schedules and recording sessions. From the opening note, one can tell this is going to be something special. I consider these drum tracks to be some of the best performances in my career, topped off with working with so many great guitarists and singers. The combination of players and song selection is something special with some of the tunes is out of the ordinary and ahead of their time!” – Carmine Appice “As soon as I heard the track, I thought it had a very haunting quality, evoking the ‘60s, but with a very modern slant. I also found the backing track very powerful and appealing, driven by Carmine’s very recognizable style; so I was keen to play on the track straight away” -Brian May

Cold In The Heart

Listen to "Cold In The Heart" on Spreaker. Embrace the truth. We all have those moments where we're cold in the heart. Being outside in the cold is something not many cherish. We do all we can to bundle up to stay warm. Can we do the same when confronting a cold in the heart moment. On this podcast we talk about the steps of awareness that warm whats been chilled. It's not always by choice. The greatest workday suddenly shifts due to the physical cause and effect of a "Taker." Those that endlessly want without having to return. The blast of cold from your soul then creates a new self image. The passerby says, "I always knew they were a jerk. Wow it took this long for the image to become part of the path." Sadly we're introduced to this process of connection all too often. Don't let it change your personality. The more you let a "Taker"control the atmosphere you've become part of, the harder it is to recover. Your cold in the heart experience is nothing more than a dog barking at the mailman. Understanding a cold in the heart moment helps you define the line drawn between change and challenge. The I-Generation and Millennial's aren't as lazy as most assume. They just know how to get what they want and learn to live with someone who comes across as being cold in the heart. "Taking" is a way of life. If too much is set free from the "Giver" there are others to receive from. The part of the story missing is the guilt trip and shaming a "Giver" moves through because the awareness of having a cold in the heart moment infects the image of who they are as a personality. I grip the reasons why we share. That doesn't mean you have to let go of the message. The greatest joy in success is the growing period. When "Takers" overcrowd your warm way, be truthful with how you consult, even if it means getting a little cold in the heart.

Andrew Zimmern

Listen to "Andrew Zimmern Releases AZ And The Lost City Of Ophir" on Spreaker. Andrew Zimmern has eaten a smorgasbord of local specialties-from coral worms in Samoa to horse-rib-and-rectum sausage in Kazakhstan-over his 12 seasons as host of Bizarre Foods on the Travel Channel. Entertaining? Always! Stomach-churning? Sometimes. But above all, the 4-time James Beard Award-winning television personality, chef, entrepreneur, teacher, author...and dad...is on a mission to promote cultural acceptance, tolerance and understanding through food. In AZ AND THE LOST CITY OF OPHIR: Alliance of World Explorers, Volume One (Beaver's Pond Press; February 5, 2019; 978-1-64343-986-0; $15.95 Hardcover), written by Andrew Zimmern and H. E. McElhatton, with full-color illustrations by Lisa Troutman, Zimmern draws young readers into a whirlwind adventure, packed with intrigue, danger, magic, and culinary curiosities. In his first work of fiction, Zimmern introduces a 12-year-old hero who shares his taste for intrepid eating. Proud of his "iron stomach," young AZ will eat anything-sautéed grasshoppers, squashed worms, even cafeteria meatloaf lurking in the school dumpster-no matter how strange, stinky, slimy, gritty, grimy, or gross. When the novel opens, AZ is excited to spend the summer with his archeologist parents on a dig in the Siberian tundra. Sadly, his dreams are dashed by a bad report card. Instead of exploring, he'll be stuck in summer school and grounded at the home of his odd Uncle Arthur. Resigned to two months of math drills and bland food, AZ is thrilled when Uncle Arthur reveals his covert mission with the Alliance of World Explorers (AWE) and whisks him along. At the introductory reception, AZ meets two kids his age, Edward (an egghead) and Lux(a staunch vegetarian). After a time-traveling mishap, AZ and his new friends wind up in Ophir, the Lost City of Secrets, fabled for its endless supply of gold. Filled with wonder, this ancient Egyptian city also has a dark side. Relying on his friends and his gut, AZ sets out to unravel Ophir's mysteries-and find a way back home. But first, he must brave cursed tombs, blood-thirsty crocodiles, one repulsive villain, and a feast-fried tarantulas, chocolate-coated caterpillars, and more-to challenge even his stomach.

Whatever You Believe In Be Strong In You

Listen to "Whatever You Believe In Be Strong In You" on Spreaker. Wow! That title or headline pretty much screams out, "Show me how." I love talking with people. Not the typical chitter chatter TMZ Hollywood update kind of trash. You get with me and we're going to be all over the map. That's what real conversation is about. Its the physical act of getting to know someone. I love it when people say, "Whoa you remember that?" Laughing out loud I remind them how my spiritual totem animal is an elephant and we never forget. On this podcast we bring out the truth about what we believe in. I am a Christian but you'll never see me push that on anybody. I wasn't called to do that job. My calling is fully blessed by a creator that commanded me to do nothing but listen. Each of us have a personal experience. Through those steps there are endless lessons that no book will ever expose. It's because human interaction requires the listener and or receiver to hear your emotional connection. Then grow in whatever direction your beliefs present. One of my billion mantras is grow forward and outward. It reminds my heart to stay free of the past. There's nothing there for my future to hold. It's been experienced. Turn it into a tool. Be present in the "Now." It gives you control of the moment. Learning to forgive your past is a chore. Unlocking yourself from the past is a victory no words can explain. Being a Christian doesn't mean I'm free of pain. Oh hec no! It sets me up for more but never more than I can handle. That doesn't mean you have to believe that. Whatever you believe in be strong in you. Study the shape of your hand then ask, "How many lives will I reach today so that tomorrow will bring light to the wanderers journey?"

Writing Is Your Map

Listen to "Writing Is Your Map" on Spreaker. I love it when people complain about having to write something down. I always hear, "I don't have time!" That's when I grab my smart phone and go to their Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Yeah... No time to write, take down a few messages from the present and hand them to a future self. On this podcast I leap back to July of 2016 and put focus on what being a daily writer has meant not to my outside shell but the spoiled creative snot that lives within the core of my heart and soul. Building bridges to the unwritten days that lay ahead requires not just your experiences but the travels and trials of others. Nothing stalls a day quicker then getting caught up in a conversation with Debbie Downer. Teaching yourself to allow it to move through you is a journey. Documenting the process makes you a stronger coworker as well as leader of your personal life. There's victory in moments that suck. I love it when a door squeaks while it being opened. It serves as a reminder of how the outside conditions of the weather plays hell on the hinges of your heart but that door still has the ability and willingness to set yourself free. You can't get to Montana without a map. Next week will feel better if you take a writing instrument and make friends with the eager being taking up room in your heart and blasting a bunch of voices in your head. Live by one rule: No book is put on the shelves at Barnes and Noble or posted on Amazon unless it's been written first. Your life is no different. Writing is your map.

Rodney Perry

Listen to "Rodney Releases Survivor" on Spreaker. Rodney Perry loves the spotlight at center stage and will never abandon his life as a stand-up comedian delivering his brazen reality based comedy. With 20 years of marriage and six children (5 girls and 1 boy) Perry is an expert on all things family and rips the seams of crowds that attend his shows to hear all about his fatherhood fodder. Perry finds delight in giving back and sharing what he's learned over the years with his weekly classes that he hosts in Atlanta where he calls home. Preparing the next generation of comedians is what he feels is a small contribution in his legacy that will keep laughs going for generations to come. Perry delivers the funny any way viewers or listeners want to receive it, whether it's his highly popular weekly radio show Rodney Perry Live, or his sold out live shows, Perry truly is the hardest working man in comedy and he doesn't see himself slowing down any time soon. Comedy is his forte, however, this funny man isn't afraid to explore his serious side in roles as is evident his appearances in the film "Mr. Right" where he gets to flex his acting chops alongside actor Columbus Short as well as the upcoming drama "Broad Street Bullies" where he plays a notorious gangster. Adding producer to his long list of credentials he's also producing shows like the independent release "A Song for Jordan." The early years of comedy found Perry his first gig as a writer/warm up guy for Kim Whitley on her talk show "Oh Drama." Being on the scene, he was able to parlay his skills into opportunity and began opening for the likes of George Lopez, Steve Harvey and Cedric the Entertainer, to name a few. He would spend the next 10 years nonstop on television in various capacities. Hosting comedy shows like "Who's Got Jokes" helped him fine tune his craft and fueled the fire for the screen, big and small. Catching the attention of comedy lovers and industry shot callers alike, Perry got another big break with a starring role as "Harold" in Tyler Perry's "Madea's Big Happy Family" and it's only been a meteoric ride on the fast track ever since. Perry has since found a home at Bounce TV where as the host of his own comedy show "Off the Chain" he would spend the next several years giving Bounce TV its leverage in the cable market with his ever increasing ratings. "Off The Chain" would go on to become a sold out tour and in addition he would also break records for the young network with his number 1 rated comedy special "Rodney Perry: 44 and Still Ticking".

Who Is Eating Your Seeds

Listen to "Who Is Eating Your Seeds" on Spreaker. No matter what day of week, something or someone has planted a seed in the open fields you offer. Everything from an idea to a physical command. Seeds are dropped into the palm of your hand endlessly. It becomes a choice as to what you're going to do with that itty bitty thing that has the ability to create a single leaf then many. On this podcast we walk through our methods of seed exchange. There's always a reason as to why that seed doesn't make itself known on your paths of choice. We drop them. Here's the thing. My most recent adopted dog is no different than the 9 before her, she sees the bird seeds they've kicked out of the cages and she eats them. Who is eating your seeds? We think we're dropping bread crumbs on the ground to find our way back. Two completely different things. Seeds evolve. Bread crumbs break down. Too often we take part in the planting and the taking of the fruit from the vine but never truly dive into the idea that maybe what once lived in that open field you carry wasn't meant for you. I'm not saying we are stuck on ourselves and feel we are superior. The message is to grasp onto a better understanding of realizing that preparation and growth might require our openness and delivery but the end results is more about serving the passerby then feeding our need and desire. It's a choice. Sadly though that decision is usually met with an open palm and the seeds fall to the ground.

The Lyrics From Billy's Forest Chapter 142

Listen to "The Lyrics From Billys Forest Chapter 142" on Spreaker. I've always believed that "Love" is still a family secret. Meaning the journey into that feeling that grows beyond marriage and togetherness fails to become the teaching tool that so many around us crave and or just need to tweak the systems of choice we carry. On this podcast I bring up the experiences of sharing conversation with those who've shared fifty plus years with the person in their life. The answer I receive when asking about the secret is always "Agree to always agree." I get it but I don't. Newlyweds hear it but they aren't activating it. The most recent lost of a very close friend of twenty eight years served as a knock on my heart "Hey in theory I'm gone but in love I'm still here." That feels like a ton of weight to carry because not everybody believes or trusts in the moments that have been described as being spiritual and or universal. Openly I admit that I don't deal with departure. I totally grasp why my adopted fuzzy puppy suffers from extreme anxiety. I feel as if her eyes are a mirrored image of who I am. Learning from those around us has always been greater than picking up a book on Amazon or the local library. The crack in the core of the conversation is the lack of talk. What is love? It reaches beyond church. It's pushes itself toward a horizon of decisions that can't be rewritten once lived an yet there remains love. Did my mother truly lose the man in her life three years ago or has she grown closer to the true spirit he always was. I shared a conversation with my wife the other day about how we never forget the sounds of the voices that touched our lives. I still hear my brother, my father and friends. Love that doesn't seem physical and yet there it is. Very much alive. Begin a journey to talk about what love is to you. Be truthful in your walk. Be aware of how you grow then teach the experience to the passerby.
